  • The first to market for the FA20 2.0L engine found in the FT86 derivatives (GT86/BRZ/FRS) when released in 2015, this positive displacement supercharger kit is engineered and manufactured by Harrop to OEM standards using Eaton R1320 TVS Technology.
    Featuring superior engine bay integration and performance efficiency, this kit is available as both a Tuner Kit or Complete Kit with a supplied emissions certified calibration, offering the FT86 chassis the power and torque enhancement it should have had from the factory.

    Amazing. Just what I like to see. Subscribed. What was the compression dropped to with the forged setup? And is there a possibility to reliably increase the power even more than what you got on the forged setup?

  • @cduncan5690
    @cduncan5690 3 года назад

    Did you keep the stock compression on the 2.1l built engine or did you change it to something else? If you you changed the compression what is it now that is allowing this engine to run 20+ psi with E85?

    • @KareemAbawi
      @KareemAbawi 7 лет назад +2

      This seems better than Cosworth kit.
      The nearest official Cosowrth dealer is asking for a silly high price tag for Stage 2.3, he is asking for 16K USD including installation and the standard tune re-flashed! not even a custom tune option available!
      I'll buy this kit instead and hand it over to a custom tuner. looks cleaner with the front throttle placement.

    • @michaelw2263
      @michaelw2263 7 лет назад

      KareemAbawi price wise yeah this is better. But I think overall performance is the same.

    • @KareemAbawi
      @KareemAbawi 7 лет назад

      +michael w if I remember right, Cosworth will make ~280 HP at the crank... I asked them how much will it make at the wheels, I never got an answer.
      this one will make 244 with out an exhaust manifold and a catback. (if I understood them right)

    • @michaelw2263
      @michaelw2263 7 лет назад

      The Cosworth makes 250 at the wheels with their full exhaust from what people say when they dyno them. I still think they are roughly on par with each other. However, it doesn't mean I think one is better than the other and blah blah blah. haha I like both.

    • @GT86Owner
      @GT86Owner 7 лет назад

      The Cosworth SC makes aroudn 250 at the wheels and is deemed the max the stock rods can make. Its capable of 400hp just liek the Harrop with smaller pullies. Both share the same 1.4Bar max boost rating.
      I have a track buddie who has this kit. In standard form my intake temps are +15C his Harrop is +25C so the Cosworth has the nod for low intake temps which will really come into play when people start pushing 350+ hp.

    OMG I was looking into the Kraftwerks supercharger, but I think this blows it out of the water.

    • @Fee.1
      @Fee.1 6 лет назад +1

      ChubyX absolutely, i was disappointed there seemed to be only centrifugal superchargers for e92 m3’s until someone pointed me to Harrop and between seeing its design & instantly knowing it was a quality product & then seeing the dyno sheet I was instantly sold, it keeps the stock engine characteristics & power delivery there’s just more of it everywhere. Those centrifugals are super top end happy, not just HP wise but torque wise as well. Seeing this one for the BRZ is even more impressive given the neat manifold design & the way they achieved that, quite clever. Hard to beat the bolt on and go design of a properly designed roots/twin screw blower, all those other centrifugal super chargers are weak af in comparison, just belt driven turbos that don’t really perform as well as a proper turbo setup or a proper supercharger setup.

    • @TripleTapHK
      @TripleTapHK 5 лет назад

      Absolutely. The Rotrex blowers that some of the supercharger kits like KraftWerks uses are complete garbage. You can look up so many videos of the tiny shafts braking and/or bearings going bad in them. Stay away from anything Rotrex!

    • @kurtphillips124
      @kurtphillips124 5 лет назад

      @@TripleTapHK I retracted part of my previous statement as since then I had read somewhere that the Cosworth package has inlet temps 10-20°C lower than the Harrop. Which gives much more headroom for smaller pulleys.
      I can't can't comment of the Edelbrock but for me I think the Cosworth would be my choice now.
      Being that I live in the UK, and that Cosworth uses stock filter shape wins it for me. Obviously it would be a different story entirely if I lived in the states. Sometimes if performance and features are close, the most locally made kit is what wins.

  • @ldmcnutt
    @ldmcnutt 7 лет назад +14

    I admit it is really cool, but there's a big problem here: Because of the higher compression of the N/A engine, you can never get to the full performance potential of a factory boosted car without building the bottom end too, which becomes really expensive. So you pay full price on the parts to only get part of the performance potential. Then when you resell the car, you never get a good price compared to the amount of money you pour into it. Then your depreciation on the car is higher than any other car in its segment. You are much better off (financially) just buying a factory boosted car that has all of the other power train components beefed up too.

    • @kenkozawa9810
      @kenkozawa9810 7 лет назад +6

      i don't think resale really comes to people's mind for project cars/track builds. and what is "factory boosted car" referring to? an ecoboost mustang?

    • @TheWretchedWorld
      @TheWretchedWorld 6 лет назад +5

      Larz just run E85 and you won't have any issue with the compression ratio

    • @MotorDetroit
      @MotorDetroit 6 лет назад +3

      That’s just the thing. I can’t think of too many cars in this price bracket that handle like an 86/BRZ and come factory boosted. In my view resale on any new car is pretty bad. To solve that problem just buy it used. I don’t disagree with your comment though. I just can’t think of a better solution.

      All the supercharger kits you see are suitable for auto gt86 to answer your question and not be a cockbag who just laughs at it. I know a shop that has done a ton of edelbrock SC kits on autos with no issues. Ive been told you are safe for the engine and tranny around 270 to 280hp, 300 might be pushing it. But remember the bottom end of the FA20 needs rebuilding if you want reliability out of more power. For the tranny SSC makes some transmission parts and coolers but they are not cheap. Supposively the auto trans in the FRS is very good. Theres an Australian race team that built an auto trans frs for a guy with 1 arm thats making ridiculous power
