When I looked in the mirror, I never once said, "I love the fat, I accept the fat." Instead, I loved the person UNDER the fat. The fat wasn't me. The real me was the person trapped inside there. Because I loved that person, me, I did what I had to do to free myself. I didn't change my body because I hated myself, I changed my body because I loved myself.

I think taking her advice and staying away from the scale will help a lot. I used to weigh myself everyday and even though I looked better and my clothes fit better my scale was not telling me positive things, I was gaining weight!!! I decided after watching her video to stop weighing myself.

Many people have unrealistic expectations about weight loss. They look the before and after pics of people and only see that between the two there was x years but they still expect to just one day wake up skinny. It doesn't work like that. Some days you will feel like shit and want to eat cake all day, other days you feel lean and thin, some days you are heavier and some days you are lighter. Weight loss is not a linear progress, that's why it takes sometimes years. And the hardest part I think is getting used to your new self. That you can move faster sleep better, be happier, wear smaller clothes, change your perception about yourself

I can relate to this video so much! I’m currently in the process of still reaching my physical goals. November 2017, I was the heaviest I have ever been. I was so insecure about my body, and hid behind coats and clothing. I was stuck in a vicious cycle, of hating my body and working out because I hated it. And this never gave me any kind of results. I would get discouraged and end up eating my feelings. But the moment I accepted my body the way it was, just like you had mentioned, my relationship with my body and the gym completely turned around. This summer I’ve made the biggest progress that I have in years. I’m down 20 lbs and am putting on lean muscle!! I’m mentally and physically in such a better place, and I can not wait to see where my fitness journey takes me! Thanks for sharing your story, because it’s so comforting to know we are not alone!

Also, be aware of portion control. I actually have started cooking some of my own creations but, I am always tempted to eat fast food. It is hard, but you can do it!!!

I dont have a habit of stepping on the scale, but when I want to "get fit" i do and like you said - I fail, because my why isn't strong enough. I just picked up journaling again, how I'm feeling what im going through to see patterns and how it makes me feel. Again, thank you. New sub!

Of all the many weight loss journey videos and health videos that I've watched this has probably been the most realistic and relatable ones that I've come across. I been having a lot of self hate lately that probably effects others around me, so I started trying to change habits without knowing what I was doing. I'm young. I'm going into highschool this year, but I've been feeling excruciatingly insecure all summer. All of my friends are losing middle school baby weight, getting racks, and just looking amazing, and it's just normal to them. I've been obese all my life, and now I wanna change that. I've started dieting, but apart of me is still just begging and hoping that I'll just wake up skinny, but I know that's now how it works. I've started doing simple easy workouts that I can handle, watching what I eat, making healthier decisions, and, a month later I've lost about fifteen pounds and I can definitely see a difference. My hard work is definitely showing, and I'm feeling much more confident. I'm ready for highschool and I'm ready to continue becoming healthier.

You are my story, except I'm much heavier, black and 50...lol Thank you so much for sharing! It's 4:37 am and I'm feeling horrible because of what I ate earlier. I almost didn't watch this video because to me 45 lbs is nowhere in the range of what I have to lose and I felt like there's no way she could understand and then you opened your mouth and oh my goodness she understands! Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this video! Please make a video on the inner work you talked about. I have no idea where to start, but I know I need to start somewhere and I know enough to know that if I don't work on my inner self the change won't happen, because the physical pain I'm feeling has not been enough to stop me from eating unhealthy. I've got to change my mindset, I'm just now sure how and hoping your inner work can set me on my own path to being successful. Thank you in advance...Peace and Blessings!

I am a dietitian and I appreciate what you are sharing. Speaking about myself, I have a toddler so an hour's workout is not really happening for me like it used to. So I introduced 15-20min workouts to my daily schedule, my husband was laughing at the duration, tonight he said I really am fitter. It's the consistency you are explaining at 13:15. Small changes happening daily can make a big difference.

Last time I had done a 5k was before pregnancy, that is 4+ years ago, but it turns out I am now in a better physical condition due to consistency: Every single day I have been keeping up with the baby / now running after the toddler, every single day I have been doing little workouts. 5k took me 35min.

When I was 12, I was obese at 185 pounds. I got sick, and couldn't eat. I soon started starving myself, and I had lost 40 pounds. I was very unhappy, and I still felt huge even though I was a few pounds overweight. I eventually gained back most of the weight. I'm 16 now, and I weigh 171 pounds. I've lost 5 pounds within two days by working out, and eating healthy, which isn't much, but it makes me happy to know I can do this. Videos like these motivate me to not starve myself, and to lose weight in a healthy matter. So, I'd like to thank you for that, and I wish you the best.

I started this summer with 185 pounds of weight, due to a growth spurt and then me cleaning up my diet, I am down to 169. My goal is 150 by Christmas. So you are not alone! Also, look up pictures of what 5 pounds of fat looks like, it's a huge difference.

Geezee Gamez congrats on the weight loss. I'm down to 167 now, but I'm struggling with restricting again. I've been trying to eat 1,000-1,200 calories and I use my elliptical for at least 40 mins a few times a week. However, I feel extremely hungry and I binge at least one to two times a week. It does help with the cravings, but it's an awful cycle. My goal is to be down to 120. Anyways, good luck with your weight loss.

Same here! My goal is 120 by summer, but my partway goal is 150 by Christmas. I use a HIIT training so I only exercise about 15 minutes daily, and I do 100 jumping jacks right before going to bed. Those are just some ideas. I do still eat some junk food, just maybe only one cookie instead of three or 3 chips instead of a whole bowl full. If I order a drink at a coffee shop, I order a small and get half sweet or something like that. No cold turkey. Also, if you go from cold turkey to some fat in your diet (fat is still needed in your diet to be healthy) you will feel sick. So that is my advice, and good luck to you too!

GREAT video! You're lucky that you discovered this right after University, and young. I'll be 52 next month, and I'm still trying to figure it out, after about four decades of binging, then crazily dieting (including Jenny Craig, and being a Jenny Craig consultant for those two years!), then overeating processed crap, and thinking I'd be caught in the spiral forever. I, too, topped out at 168 at University. During my twenties and thirties, I levelled out at 140. In my forties, 140 became 150. Now, I'm postmenopausal, and started seeing a dietitian just over a month ago, starting at about 153. It's super-slow progress (I sit now at about 147), but there IS a win, aside from the weight loss: For the first time in my life, I now feel I can have a "cheat meal", and get right back on the horse with the next meal! I had lived my black-and-white, restrictive thinking for years.I feel that there's light at the end of the tunnel now, and that I'm making sustainable, good-health decisions, daily, just like you are. Good for you, girl!

I'm in high school and I've always been super active but still on the heavier side, strangling with extra weight that my friends didn't have. Every year I tried to lose it before summer because all my friends loved to take bikini pictures to post of social media when we we went to the beach. I was always a semi healthy eater but I struggled a lot with overeating and not knowing when to stop. Although I still struggle with this now I have recently been trying to look at my habitats day to day and make some changes. Then I came accords this video and you really helped me see that I'm fine just the way I am and that I should just eat to nourish my body. I cant explain how much you have just shifted my mindset in one video. I owe you so much more than you know❤️💕💪🏽

I've been on this journey for so long without admitting it to myself, and without realizing how young it started and how much of it wasn't about the weight at all, and how losing the weight won't magically solve my problems if I don't go about it with the right why (and since I never had the right why I never succeeded). Thank you for being so gentle and kind and candid with your story and for the reminder to not give up on ourselves. I finally feel ready to take this seriously and try one more time because of you❤

Hi Katie! I am in my senior year at high school and since the last year, I have consistently moved on to a healthier lifestyle. I have Polycystic Ovarian Disease (which is, irregular periods that causes pregnancy problems in the future) because of my excessive weight. I weighed 75 kgs at my heaviest. And when I was told by my doctor that my only medicine was losing weight. So at that moment, it seemed like an impossible thing to do because I'm like attracted to anything sugary. I love eating sweets and chocolates and all kinds of desserts and still do. I used to binge eat a lot, putting unhealthy stuff in my body, and then feeling guilty and crappy. I always used the excuse of having too much pressure of studies to take time out of my routine to work out. But then I took some time to realise that unless I'm healthy, there's no point in working so hard for the grades to go up because I won't be happy. I took some time to love my body, to realise that I am beautiful and sexy with an awesome personality, and that's what mattered the most. This was when I started to work out, jumping rope initially, starting with 500 jumps, then started doing target exercises. I remember, I was searching through youtube for how to lose back fat when I came across your channel and that's how I was introduced to LSF and this wonderful community. You played a big part in my transformation towards a healthy form of myself. And after a month or so, I started to feel good after every workout, concentrate better on my studies, my grades went up. After 8 months, here I am, at 63 kgs and feel amazing about my body. I hope to lose about 4 kgs more to get to a healthy weight, and my Polycystic Ovarian Disease has been going away slowly, as now I have regular periods. So, all I want to say is, Thank you Katie. You played a major inspiration for me to feel better about myself, to love myself. And I owe so much to you.

I was up to 160lb and I cried at one point with the same height. I got down to 128lb then quit and creeped back to 145lb over 2 years. I love the advice you gave with small goals and focusing on making yourself feel better. Thank you for your advice.💕

love this! I remember deciding I didn't look how I looked or felt, so I decided to just become more conscious of what I was eating, and move a little bit each day. I didn't weigh myself, I just would look In the mirror and know I felt better about myself. It's more fun, and positive to not set a huge goal, but rather set a new lifestyle.

Thank you for sharing all of this, what you describe is exactly how I feel right now and the past year. I've decided to shift my focus away from weightloss and just simply make my body stronger and aim to feel better as I move it more. For me it's so therapeutic to exercise and feel how strong u become each and every day. There are low days as well, but I love myself because of how quick I can bounce back on track the next days. Really love everything that you do for this community and I wish you all the best.

Thank you so much for making this video. I’m only a few minutes in but already this has resonated so much with me and my past. So many people are very adamant about completely changing things right away, or working out so much that they are constantly in pain. Mental state and mind set are the most important things. It was the moment I realized this, that my own body image started changing. Little adjustments, and the idea that you are working to be the best person you can. 😊

I was feeling really frustrated today after binging, but you gave me the strength to get back up and start anew! Thanks you so much! This was more than a weight loss video, it was like a big hug 💕
