I tried it too, and IF did not work for me. At first, it wasn’t too hard. I felt more energetic than ever because my body was running on stress hormones. I did lose a few pounds. But over time, I became very lethargic and was constantly hungry. I couldn’t lift as much in the gym anymore, and the low blood sugar during fasting was giving me anxiety and panic attacks. As soon as I stopped, I felt better. I started having better workouts and I was able to get all my protein in for the day. I am so much better now.

I’ve been intermittent fasting for 5 years now and I stopped getting my period six months ago
I just started eating small frequent meals instead with no focus on fasting and I’m praying that my period comes back

I have been trying to loose weight and get healthier and I am in menopause. And have not been able to loose weight and+keep it off. I am 64 and don’t love the way I feel and look and would love to finally loose 50 pds. And love watching your videos with hopes to find something that will work for me. Keep up the great motivation for you and us . 😊

Have you heard of the book Fast Like a Girl by Mindy Pelz? She addresses the hormone shifts and has a fasting schedule she recommends that follows a woman's cycle. I'm not saying that's the answer but it makes sense. You definitely look leaner. My current health struggle is eating. I've been working out 4 days/week for just over 6 months now. A little cardio to warm up 10-15 minutes then strength training. I've only lost 6 pounds and totally plateaued. I struggle with sugar addiction and emotional eating.

I bought Dr Mindy Pelz book, and it was way too confusing for me. I stopped fasting as a menopausal woman as well.

Thanks for this information! I am especially grateful for the part about menopausal women. I really like your channel and I am in my 50s so it's good to hear you mention that in this video. You are very inspiring and motivating. I love your encouragement to keep moving, your recipes and what you eat in a day are great too! Best to you and your family.

Hi Katie! I’m so happy to see this video today! I’ve been doing IF and I weighed myself today and the few pounds I’ve lost I’ve gained back and I’m like hmm this isn’t working is it?! I’m feeling women have it harder than any other being! Thank you for your advice! I live with hypothyroidism as well and it’s taken years to get to a place of feeling better but weight loss is a struggle! Thank you for all you do!! Brandice 💕🙌🏻💕🙏🏻💕😉

I honestly believe one of the best things someone can do for their health is a food allergy or sensitivity test. Knowing what foods are serving the body and what ones aren’t, is super important. I’ve already lost weight doing this because it does help with blood sugar regulation and lowering inflammation. Also, too much fasting can start to eat the gut lining leading to leaky gut syndrome. With that, if you are having trouble with conceiving, please consider seeing a functional medicine doctor or a practitioner who specializes in blood chemistry so they can see if your cells are being invaded by a bacteria or virus or pathogen that is causing this. Wishing everyone wellness + joy on your healing journey. ❤

I.F. was the ONLY thing that helped me lose weight. I am SO proud of myself to be in Week 10 of a 12 Week Challenge! (Strength training workout)
I was always 16:8, and now I’m 14:10. It works for me. I will continue to do I.F. I also have hypothyroidism, I’m 53, 6 years without a period, so I.F. may work for people who have different scenarios. It works for me. I don’t get hungry like you did. The longer you don’t eat, It helps your MMC cycle more, which has given me major results. I have energy using I.F. I break my fast with a lot of protein. I’ve never felt sluggish and horrible at any time of the day doing I.F. To each his own.

Same here - read it, followed the thyroid cycle w/ the moon & felt horrible. My numbers have been way off since last May. I blamed it on menopause but maybe it's IF. I went from 150mcg to 125mcg & my latest blooswork is still out of range

I too struggled with IF. Most mornings I wasn’t hungry and just went without and would have coffee. The coffee was raising my BP so I switched to decaf cuz I couldn’t break the habit. IF never really helped me drop pounds and I felt like my body was constantly stressed. I have since started back eating breakfast and I feel better mentally and physically. Stronger when working out.
Thanks for this video! I love your honesty- helps relate to someone who has been through it

I have not been able to jump back into it in 2 years and I’ve been starving. Waking up at 4 am to workout and not eat until noon is crazy. My name is Niki.
    I live in Hungary.
I am 31 years old. 160 cm, 45 kg. From time to time I start exercising, paying attention to my shape, but then the enthusiasm doesn't last long, I'm not persistent enough.
I am not overweight, but cellulite is starting to appear, my stomach has also become more fleshy, I want to be more toned and muscular. In order to do this, I started working out, and I have been eating regularly and healthily for a month and a half.
Your videos and tips help me a lot in achieving my goal.

Thank you for speaking this. I recently lost over 50 pounds just eating better, etc, all the usual stuff and began implementing IF in November. At first, it was awesome and seemed to work well but since then it has been a drag on me and I feel like I am hungrier. The scale is also creeping up although I am in small jeans but still....it's very strange. I think I might stop as well and go back to what "brought me to the dance" this past year and a half.

Hi Katie - Can't thank you enough for this video. I've been thinking about starting IF and something inside of me has been holding me back. Your insight was the light switch and answered the "why not" question. I greatly appreciate you and your channel.
On to my questions: First, you mentioned that there might be some benefit for women in menopause. What about those in peri-menopause? If you have the space, would you do a video speaking more on this topic? Second, I periodically fast during certain times of the year for spiritual reasons. Do you have any advice for someone who wants to continue with a spiritual fasting discipline, lose weight, AND has PSCO?
Hope I didn't through too much at you. I really appreciate and value your input. Many thanks and blessings to you, Ryan, and sweet baby Luke❤.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I also think IF can be a slippery slope if any woman at any point in her life has experienced any form of eating disorders, as IF can also turn into both rigid restriction on one end as well as being so hungry on the other end that it turns counterproductive once the window to eat has opened.

You are so right! I don't have a thyroid - it was destroyed with radioactive iodine. Doing IF made my TSH levels get all whacked out - up / down, I felt horrible. I stopped - started taking my two thyroid meds in the morning - with hot water, setting my Apple Watch for 30 minutes before eating or drinking. I started having breakfast - only 2 decaf coffees a day, one with your coconut milk creamer and balanced meals with healthy snacks (like a dates with peanut butter or an apple) and my levels have been good. I take my supplements now with lunch as to not interfere with my 2 thyroid meds.

I don’t know girl… I think it depends, we should just learn to listen to our bodies after detoxifying them. I’ve never been hungry in the morning, it’s just how I am, I’ve forced myself to have breakfast in my younger days and it became an habit I just did without thinking … 3 years ago I just stopped because I realized I was doing it “just because” and not out of actual hunger…I lost 8kg, just like that, and I’ve never felt better, my period is same as always. I really do believe we are built differently and also we should remember how things are actually working in natural environment: there’s no “time” for meals, there’s hunger and eating and that’s it.

I've tried it a few times, where i break my fast at noon for lunch. Not really a fan, aside from always feeling tired, headaches and COLD. This also occurs when i calorie count using an app. I dont have a ton of weight to lose, but i like to check in and weigh once a month and when i see weight going up a bit, as well as BF%, I like to be in a deficit again and track calories. Nothing wrong with that, but man its tough! I do find it fascinating to manipulate calories because a deficit is the way to lose weight and tracking is the only way i truly see results but the side effects are usually always the same. Headache, freezing and sluggish. Sure, at first thr body isnt used to the deficit so it probably gets easier over time, but ive noticed when i cut calories and track, ill be good for 2 weeks. Meaning im seeing the weight and BF go down but then it stays the same or goes up a bit. It's definitely a struggle and its fine to want to change things up a bit to do body recomp, but it just isnt sustainable. Who WANTS to weigh their cashews? Thats no way to live. But again, ive seen resukts doing so. Its all a balancing act. 😢❤

My number one goal this year is to incorporate more protein into my diet! My biggest struggle is finding different ways of eating or drinking protein that isn’t chicken every meal or chalky protein shakes.

I love this! More protein is a major factor in burning fat and toning. Try my LSF protein powder if you’re looking for a delicious one! 🤍

Exactly! Fasting should be done according to your cycle. Also listening to your body.

I hear IF is especially good for women in perimenopause, menopause and post menopause to ease those symptoms. What are your thoughts for those in one of those categories?

I've been fasting for over 7 years, but now I'm wondering if I should stop due to some hypoglycemia symptoms...but I'm so afraid of gaining the weight back.

if you still eat the same amount but adjust the times you won't gain weight, but maybe you body actually does need some more food to work better for you too xo

This was a great and informative video! I am currently doing a sort of intermittent fasting where I stop eating at around 4:00 p.m. and then start eating at 9:00 a.m. the next day. I was introduced to intermittent fasting by Mindy Pelz. She studied women's health and fasting and has created a guide for us. I do it for weight loss. I am on a low carbohydrate diet, so I eat more meat than carbohydrates. That helps me feel more sated and relaxed but I do agree that we have to listen to our bodies because I do feel more hungry in my luteal and follicular phases.

IF was the only thing that worked for me to lose weight after four years of no success. I’ve been doing it for 2 years now and getting a bit tired of it. But I can’t tell if I’m just getting complacent.

thanks for the insight! IF is so overrated for generally healthy women! however, i'd love to hear how much strength & cardio you do day to day because i think another myth is that we need to do more cardio to lose weight, but that's not always true. love you! your fewest fan, ash

I have a question for you. I’m starting my weight loss journey. I work two full time jobs. I work seventeen hours a day. I don’t have the time or energy to grocery shop or cook. Could I start with daily harvest? Maybe add protein powder to things that don’t quite have enough protein?

Hi Katie. Im in a similar situation. On Sundays, I meal prep for 12 meals, lunches, and dinners. Refrigerate half and other half I freeze. You could potentially try out delivery for grocery shopping or even going in person with a meal plan in hand so you know just what you need. I have the same thing every single day for breakfast and I cook that the day before, it has 30+ of protein (eggs, chicken sausage and blueberries) I hope this helps!

IF helped me lose about 30 pounds.. But I have plateaued for the last few years and still have about 30 to go. I don't think it's for me any more. My current goal is body recomposition. I also ignore my body, and have for a long time. If I am hungry, I convince myself I just need a cup of coffee instead. Need to listen to my body more and just eat. Thanks for sharing.
