How to Make Curry Udon (Recipe) カレーうどんの作り方 (レシピ)
Kafu will totally love this recipe! since she loves curry udon.
This recipe is a staple in my house as a go-to comfort food. I highly recommend trying it! ♥️
Thank you! It's so easy and quick to make. Thanks for your kind endorsement! 🤗
Loved this recipe! I made it yesterday, made my own curry roux (from your curry recipe), added carrots and spinach and it was so good. Thank you - ありがとうございました!
Japanese word of the day is fun! Duo learning! Thanks!
Thank you for your kind words! :)
Perfect. I have been looking for tasty recipes that I can make when everything around is in a tailspin. many thanks
My pleasure 😊
You are good. I like your videos Very good recipes. Curry my favourite
Made this today. Instant classic 😍
I live in Japan and decided to give this a go using your recipe. It really is as easy as you made it look.
Thank you Nami, I made this dish today and my family love it.
I love Curry and Udon. Combination of two is perfect! Thank you for sharing another great recipe! 👍
Thanks so much for your kind words.🤗
This was very calming and soothing. I love this. Thank you.
Fully agree
OMG! I absolutely LOVE Udon noodles! Ever since I visited Japan years ago I have craved Udon noodles. There was a little shop not far from the hotel in Ikebukuro. I went there quite often just to get a bowl of Udon mixed with meat and veg. And seeing you make this dish reminded me how badly I miss them. Thank you so much for this, Nami-san!
I'm so happy to hear you got to try udon in Japan. This one is a quick recipe and I hope you'll enjoy it! Thanks Jerry!
I always get lost in the excellent presentation and recipes, and when the I hear the "Itadakimasu" at the end it always surprises me and makes me happy!!
NICE RACIPE GOD BLESS U
It looks so yummy. I love it.
This looks SO good! I'm def going to try to make this over the weekend. I discovered your channel through your blog post recipes (I've also tried your sukiyaki recipe, which my best friend LOVES. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
Thank you for making these videos! I love curry udon! A couple of questions - what is the black pot that you use? And what curry roux brand do you like? Usually I just use my own curry powder and add mirin.
Udon has always been my pref, I love the chewiness...
Me too!
Oishiso❤
There's a Japanese restaurant about 15min from where I live, it's the only place I've been to that has some dishes that compare to the stuff I got in Japan.
Their Takoyaki was what convinced me I was just gonna love Japanese food as a whole (it's made out of 3 ingredients I hate... but was absolutely delicious). And my favorite thing on their menu is a Beef Curry Udon. (Although their spicy tonkatsu ramen and okyakodon are high on the list as well).
That dish... is just about my favorite thing in the world. It's no secret that a good meal can sorta salve the soul, but getting that from time to time is my best example of it. I could be having an absolutely shitty week, and treat myself to a bowl and I'll be feeling on top of the world afterwards.
You make everything look so easy to prepare and delicious to eat! Thank you so much for the recipes for all of my favorite foods!
I just made this tonight, so yummy! I actually doubled the recipe so I can have it again tomorrow 😊
I’ve tried a few of your recipes and every single one of them has been delicious. Thank you so much for putting the effort into sharing your recipes with us :) i like your content, please make more! I tried the handmade udon and I will make curry udon tonight.
Can the sake be replaced with another ingredient?
When I went to the bambu forest we found a restaurant that had this dish, my wife and me got amazed with the combination of two things we liked and just today we made this recipe and it was truly amazing, we felt again on Japan.... arigatou
I just made this for dinner and it was delicious! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!
Nami-san, since I'm single, can I make the curry, eat one serving on one day, and keep the second serving in the fridge overnight to eat the next day? I'd make a single serving of udon each of those days.
Hi Shirley! Sure, I'd do the same! :)
It is very enjoyable and delicious udon. It's the best!!
Ohh it looks really good pls keep uo the good work im just anew subscriber but I really love all ur works.
Thanks so much for your kind words, Milton! 🤗
The music and how all the tiny bit audio details are included os reallly well thought out. Amaxing video!
I made this and it was sooo good. I made it with eggplant and capsicum :)
what can i substitute for sake?
Japanese curry 🍛 😍 😋 udon, yummy 😋 ♥ 😍 😊 ❤ I love 💘 that 😋 ♥ and Hong Kong observatory weather forecaster Chong Sze Ning also like 👍 this one too 😋 😀 😄 😊 ♥ ❤ 😋
OMG Nami san. I make this recipe a LOT particularly w/ leftover curry that barely make 1 serving. I simply add 600ml dashi & udon noodles and out come 2 servings of curry udon.
Yes! Wonderful!! 🙌🏻 It's so easy to make it into curry udon soup. I grew up with "thicker" curry udon (pretty much a tiny bit looser curry that most ingredients are gone previous day + udon). It's so nice to have variations so we never get tired of it!
Wow! I already adore it so much!
3 cups of dashi water seems wayy too much overwhelming (for 2 serving as suggested) I tried it and I got a 70% soup final result
the golden curry package says 540mL water for 5 serving '^'
I believe the water should be at least cut in half
Looks absolutely delicious, can’t wait to make this recipe.
I loved this dish and my family keeps wanting more :)
Your music is so relaxing ❤️
Thank you Lucinda!
Love your udon curry noodles from Malaysia 🇲🇾❤️ I'm vegetarian. But i do in vegan style. Tq
Oh wow! You added word of the day! I love it!
Just made this tonight and it was absolutely delicious!! Thank you for the great recipe!!
Would you be able to do similar receipt without meat - for vegetarians? Thank you ❤️
Is it not the same if you used curry as you would for curry rice and just replace with udon instead? Or must it be soupy curry?
Just made this with chicken. Simple recipe but so good!
ありがとうございます!
Awesome recipe! I have a question. My family and I visited Sapporo and had Soup Curry served with Rice separately. It was delicious - UMAI! Do you know if the Soup Curry in this recipe similar to that? Thanks in advance!
Can I use another kind of broth like chicken broth instead of dashi broth?
I just made this and it was delicious! Thanks for the recipe
Hi we don’t have the pork slices this way in UK, what else can I use?
This looks very hearty, and pretty simple recipe. I need to give it a try.
what kind of vegetables could I cook together with this without having it change the flavour too much? I would like some more nutrients in this dish
Use this for inspiration? www.justonecookbook.com/vegetarian-japanese-curry/
OMG JUST TRIED THIS!! I was a little scared at first because when trying recipes you do not know how it will turn out but this was wonder. Do not be scared to make this YALL. 簡単ですけど美味しかった!
Gracias por tu vocabulario japonés. Saludos
Love your channel, ❤❤ I always turn to your channel for my Japanese cooking guidance. 😊. May I know (1) how to cook the curry from scratch (2) how to make the curry thicker instead of soupy ( like those in Japan’s curry shops) ? Thank you.
Thank you for trying out my recipes! 😊🫶🏻

Hi nami -san, i am a big fan of your cooking, i started following you in fb as well. You have help cook a lot of wonderful dishes and i would like to return the favor by giving you some suggestion to help make JOC alot better.
Might I suggest a feature for your blog. I think you will like it also as well as your fans
Its like a ingridients ratio calculator. Like in this udon recipe you can allow the user to edit how much grams of noodle he or she has. And it will automatically edit the other ingredients quantity base on ratio. Its simple mathematics.
Hello Nami! May I ask for your help in identifying a Japanese dish? I had it a couple of times for Kyuushoku when I taught in Elementary schools in Japan. It’s a small fried and cubed white fish that tastes a little bit like chicken. It has a brown glaze and sesame seeds on top. The glaze is a little sweet and salty. It would be served with a side of vegetables, rice and a soup. It was my favorite Kyuushoku meal and my Japanese teachers told me the name of it but I can’t remember it. I never saw it in restaurants in Japan and I cannot describe it well enough to find it on the internet, I get Nanbanzuke as a result, but it is not this. Could you please help me? I would love to try and make it.
Thank you 🍁☺yes I really love it Japanese food and Japanese culture. Greetings Love ❤from Indonesia
I want to try adding some vegetables to this. Any suggestions? And when should I add them?
Hi! I have a question: if i wanted to make this vegetarian, how could i do that? skip the pork, but the dashi and the curry roux is there any traces of meat in them? By the way, great recipe, this sounds really lovely and so delicious, thank you!
that looks good! I am eyeing on the mesh strainer but I could not find in your list of cooking/japanese tools. The one linked from amazon looks different. Can you please share where you got it? thanks Nami :)
Slowly melting the curry roux into the pot is the most time-consuming part. My parents just chuck it in and one time I diced the curry roux before throwing it in. Turned out fine but def not proper lol.
Looks easy to do, I have to try making it (I LOOOOVE curry!!! Totemo Oishi desu!!!!)
Interesting recipe 😋 thanks for tasty recipe 😋
I am cooking for 5 people should I double everything in this recipe? Thanks loved your video 😘
Delicious soup 😊 Can I add curry powder instead of tablets ? How much to add, please? Thank you very much 👍👍
Hi! You can add curry powder but have in mind that the roux, the tablets, contain flour and that makes the soup the consistency that it has. So you would have to either reduce it more or add some kind of thickener if you want the same consistency
Another great recipe , nice to see your upload again Nami San
Thank you! I'm sharing new recipes frequently on my website. I wish I can do the same frequency here but making videos takes more time... I look forward to sharing next one soon!
What kind of dashi?
Irico is the most appropriate for udon curry?
Greetings from Athens.
What if i dont have Sake. What can i substitute with ?
Hi I wonder this recipe is for how many pax
I gotta know where I can get that cast iron. Its absolutely beautiful. Must have one in my kitchen
Hi Yvette! This is the one I have (amzn.to/3cjuozy). 😃
Gorgeous isn't it, even better is the rice pot.
美味しそう! thank you for this recipe :)
hello, may i ask is that a Japanese curry roux? also, the dashi, how do you make that soup base?
Thanks!
hi there :) can i use ordinary curry powder?
Love your cooking videos. Can you do a video baking on stovetop only recipe. Thank you.
Oishissou😋😋😋Tsukuttemimassu😉😉😉
Your kitchen is cleaner than most hospitals. I can smell that yummy curry thru my phone!
Can you put red pickles radish recipe we eat with Curry dishes, like the one Curry House used to serve?
I had Udon this early March and when I tell you I’m addicted 😋yum
Food made with love ❤️ i would just add a little bit of potato starch to thicken the sauce a little bit 🤤
This is the perfect video right now. Grabbing the ingredients tomorrow!
Thank you! I hope you enjoy this recipe! 🤗
Is there anything that can replace Dashi ?
I really love your channel! Will cook this tmrw 😊 Thanks for all the awesome recipes :)
Can I use ramen noodles instead of udon?
can i know why the curry is not thick?
That is truly beautiful and I know it has to taste fantastic. I love curry dishes and I have never understood any that doesn't. But we are all different in tastes. As for me I want to try this. I may have to travel a bit to find the ingredients. I want to do this dish it's too tempting! Thank you for sharing this and I am sharing this video. Peace To All!
Thank you Scott! Hope you enjoy the recipe! These days, Japanese curry roux is easily available online (or even in regular American grocery store here). Hope you will enjoy this recipe. 🤗
I cannot find the Japanese curry roux cubes; since i have not used Japanese curry powder before, i plan to make the roux using the recipe you published earlier with the garam masala. Can you please let me know what constitutes the curry powder ?
I actually don't know exact. I checked S&B Curry Powder on Amazon (amzn.to/2SJTnnG) and it says: Turmeric, coriander, fenugreek, cumin, red pepper, black pepper, cinnamon, ginger, star anise, cloves, cardamon, fennel, nutmeg, laurel leaves, allspice, garlic.
What pots are those please? Staub?
EXCELENT RECIPE...CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Thank you so much!
Gracias por tú video delicioso. Saludos
I tried it so many times, and that's easy to cook, and delicious! Thank you!
Nice one
Can it be served cold?
Konnichiwa love from india
Please make regular videos i love Japan
Stay home stay safe everyone
Thank you for watching, Anshul!
Can I replace the dashi with vegetable or chicken stock? I somehow always get a headache from dashi
Hi May! You can do that. The addition of dashi makes it more like a type of udon soup (at udon restaurants).
Your recipes are very simple and easy.
New friend 🤝🔔
Thank you for your kind words, Surazi!
I am Japanese love curry. I did not know such as easy make. I will try to make this weekend.
Hope you enjoy!
how to make the dashi?
Any low sodium udons?
DId you have to make the Dashi or can you buy it (in liquid or powder form)?
There is no liquid dashi sold. You can use dashi powder or dashi packet. But it's easy and quick to make it from scratch too. :)
