My chicken curry udon... Japanese style | Marion’s Kitchen

- Considered real Japanese comfort food, Japanese-style curry is typically eaten as curry katsu (a curry sauce with rice and sliced, crumbed chicken or pork) but is excellent in a soup iteration for thick, chewy udon noodles. Here, I’ve given it a boost with chicken mince (you could use turkey or pork mince instead) and finished with a whole raft of fun toppings. If you want things a bit thicker and more curried, toss in a cube or two more for the curry roux. It’s that easy! Another #MakeItWednesday recipe to try.

A new series called Fridge Clean Fridays to go along with Make IT Wednesday would be great. You can show what you would make with whatever is in your fridge. Or a Meal Prep Monday where you show a dish you can make for the week
This looks like the perfect winter warmer recipe! I have this saved as a recipe I am totally going to cook and I can’t wait! Thank you, Marion!
Looks delicious. Thank you
Hi Marion, yes I’m from Toronto and all the vegetables and dairy prices went up as well. Love your recipes!
This looks amazing! I can't wait to make it at home. Just wondering, how long do you think the pickled daikon will last in the fridge?
That's great 😊
This looks amazing ....can't wait to try this awesome dish
Did not have Japanese curry cubes. Substituted it with a diced tomato and curry powder. The sauce was not as thick, but it was still tasty. Also a lot cheaper. Thanks for the recipe, Marion. :)
Toast some flour before adding liquid and you’ll have a thicken curry roux :)
Can we see some slow cooker recipes? Get it ready night before/morning and leave on for the day?
Can u make a Louisiana Cajun gumbo it’s a great dish for in the south of USA!! And btw you are a very great chef
this video popped up just as i was craving curry 😫

Coriander $5.00 a bunch & a very small bunch.

I knew how to boil eggs then I moved to Calgary, 🇨🇦 and had to learn all over again how to cook eggs and pasta, altitude makes a huge distance. Then moved to Ottawa and had to remember how I did it before Calgary. Love the recipe.
Marion has more confidence peeling eggs (in front of camera) and also while handling 5 other ingredients... than i would ever ! looks good..
Right?!
REQUEST:Hi Marion, My partner is vego and I am not. Can you offer a Wednesday Night dish where there is an easy tofu/meat substitute but good flavour for both! I find that the meat dish always add a flavour richness profile that is often lost in the vego substitute. Feel free to make it spicy!
This was really good / worked out well - however found it incredibly salty with the chicken stock + 9 cubes for the curry.
I thought that might happen so I used 2 fewer cubes than she called for and it turned out really tasty! I don't think the 2 extra cubes are necessary for great flavor 👍
I'd love more potato based recipes that arent just "mash it with butter"!
I am absolutely enjoying this series! I’m from Northern Canada and I thought our lettuce was pricey… Nonetheless, my husband works a different shift than I do on Wednesday nights so this becomes our make it Thursday or Saturday dinner. Thanks for the inspiration! Love it!
We're not nearly as bad as the prices in your rural Native communities; these prices are unusual, a result of natural disasters.
Could you do a dish using frozen veg/readily available pantry/fridge items? I'm a vegetarian but struggling with not having many fresh veggies due to cost 😥 running out of ideas of how to use frozen veg! Love your recipes 😋
Love your "Make It Wednesday" and Japanese cuisine especially this time! Yap, we also cook Curry Udon noodle when the day after we cook curry rice! It makes me wanna cook it !
Oishi
In France you can not get vegetable oil, mostard, thunafish cans ..... all the prices increased like 27% and we pay the litre of gazoil 2.20 euros ...... it's just amazing
This is a great recipe simple & yummy, you really are an idea's girl, Thanks Marion, Cheers...Nat from Brisvegas

To the person reading this. May success, peace and happiness be with you. Amen.
Plain sunflower oil 750ml is 2.68 dollars , olive oil is 3 to 4 times that price.
Yes Bok choy in North Brisbane $3.50 for one what i would descried as a junior size, I think I laughed out loud.
I noticed the Curry cubes have msg. Does anyone know of a Good msg free substitute ?
Having lived/worked in Antarctica for the last 5 months, the most expensive item is, believe it or not, penguin mince. The bloody things are everywhere...
Hi there from Toronto or Istanbul (depending on when you see this comment :) I am wondering if you could please do a video on Top 10 Things to Have in your Pantry. It would be a huge help to participate in all your cooking along episodes and get the same results (hopefully :) Please and thank you!
Hi Marion I love your recipes would you typically add MSG to this and your other recipes? I personally love MSG and the flavour definitely not asking as a negative!
If you would add how much would you say please)
Is there a substitute to the Japanese curry blocks? I don't think I can get there where I am :(
Cooking this dish for dinner tonight.

Our heads of Lettuce are maybe 2 bucks. So not bad there.
But a block of cheese is 8 bucks.
And one slab of beef is like 20 bucks.
Marion- I love you and I can’t wait to make this recipe this weekend. But please please fix the microphone situation. Much love
Hello from Switzerland. I always make your Wednesday on Thursday and thank you for your receipts
So good to learn from this video
I am so going to make this!! it looks amazing. Do you have any recipes that feature been shoots? I find I use them once and the remaining stays in the fridge unused until it goes yuck and has to be thrown out.. usually only after a couple of days. I know you can use them in salads, which is what I use them for, but is there anything else I can make
I don't know if it's just in the UK, but packs of butter have gone up to £9 ($15 aus) in some supermarkets!! I love your Make It Wednesday videos, they're so easy but as always, so delish 😍
Chicken shortage in NY
Another hot recipe, you keep on bringing the best recipe Marion…. Especially in this cold Sydney weather… can’t wait to make a few of your make it Wednesday 😜😜 dishes
Well, tonight I made this dish, and what a winner winner chicken dinner it was with the whole family!! I found the Japanese curry cubes at the supermarket- so much more flavourful than the standard Keens brand but there’s a time and place for that too. Expanding my horizons, Marion! Thanks!
Phone on cutting board noooooooooo
Japanese food, is the best.
Sorry, using your Green Curry paste tonight instead. 🙃
bonjour a tout le monde depuis la France. c'est très bon
I’m thinking of making this using sautéed crumbled tofu instead a ground meat.
Look very delicious 🤤 😋 I love different kind of curry 🍛
This is what happens when you put just a little effort in something so simple. Thank you! 🤗🥳🥂😋🍜🥰
Can’t wait to try this! Greetings from Peoria, Illinois ✌️
This looks so delish! (Except for the ginger!) But very yum looking! ❤
LOL........the yoke centre swirling tip didn't work 😂

I'm going to give my eggs a swirl or two now. I like my yolks in the middle 😁 The curry udon looks yum. I have to try this sometime soon!
I hope this will taste nice
Here I have no problem at the Sydney markets
Never tried Japanese cuisine but this looks droolicious 😍💜
Best chicken curry
I generally make this recipe with mock duck- well when I can find it even at Asian grocery stores... Speaking of supply shortages I would have never thought that would be an issue but getting it has been savage and expensive ugh.
You are good at this
For me still Tuesday and just finished dinner ☺️
Teach me how to cook
Another one ......
Hmmm yummy food ❣️
Will try this ❤️
Definitely going to make this this week! Already have most in my pantry! So good :)
Hi I'm from Waynesboro Pa. It is Tuesday here. I would like to make a request for a dish I think is right up your alley it's a Shaub-Shabu noddle Salad. I know I posted twice not sure which you will see first. Thanks for your consideration.
Love this 💕
Do you add salt or vinegar to the egg water? I add eggs to my spaghetti an Italian friend taught me that. Sounds yucky but really good. This looks so yummy. I love curry. food here is outrageous expensive. Our farmers market is up now so that's less expensive and better than the trucked in stuff.
Morena (morning) from Aotearoha (NZ)….love your YT videos, always looking forward to new vid’s..Being an at home dad, loving the new Wednesday Cook Up video’s…Yum, Yum on today’s dish…
This looked SO lovely and comforting. Can't go wrong with that Japanese curry flavour! I'd love to see some Moroccan-inspired dishes! So beautifully spiced, I'd love to see your take on some meals!
