    Lovely card, Vianney! It took a while to convince myself that I wanted a foil machine mainly because I didn't want to buy all those extra foiling dies on top of the cutting dies I already have. I was sold on the Gemini Foilpress when I saw a CC video where they used regular dies to foil with in addition to using the foiling dies. The fact that you have 3 different heat settings to use with different sized dies makes it almost fool-proof. If you're on the fence about getting a foiling machine, I highly recommend getting the Gemini Foilpress over the others.

    If you turned over the butterfly dies & foiled on the flat side, then when you cut the design, there will be a foiled outline of the butterfly. You would place the metal plate down first, the cutting edge facing the metal plate, pretty side of the foil facing the flat side of the die, paper then the top plate. Heat up & foil in the Gemini Jr. Then when you cut out the foiled butterfly design, you will have foiled edges.

  • @rmm9110
    @rmm9110 4 года назад

    I love what you did with the acetate. The card is really pretty. I have the same dies and I have learned a technique from Joanne Hedges (She uses a couture creations foil press )you use the back of the die. The sections to cut out are wider on the backside. There is more places for the foil to stick. so you have more foil then cut it would and it is like you foiled with a fine tip pen. This doesn't work with all dies, but it is fun to play with and I've had it work with some of butterflies you used. Flip the die to the correct side and cut out the design. Another tip is to foil on foiled paper. The colors are striking. I hope I didn't make it sound confusing. It's not.

    • @VianneyCreates
      @VianneyCreates  4 года назад

      Thanks for the tips! I was actually watching a CC show this morning and they were using the FOILPRESS, and I totally do my sandwich different! Oopsie...they heat the die with just the plate, run the timer, take the plate off then place the foil, paper, plate again. I just heat everything up all together! Ha!! Anyway, I totally followed what you were saying. (:

    • @fenixdesigns
      @fenixdesigns 4 года назад

      Am wondering (since someone always eventually manages to find a "hack" for everything, it seems!)... so, in the same way that ppl eventually managed to figure out for each machine the respective sandwiches required to cut & emboss in one pass, I'm wondering if anyone's figured out how to do that with foil press yet?? (emboss & foil in one pass, I mean)...
      If neither of you know... or simply haven't yet heard of anyone having worked out how to do that yet, would you think it's even remotely possible at all?? (at least in terms of the units you each have experience working with... so, for eg. this Gemini ... or the Spellbinders unit is also on my radar too, to consider as a contender to add to my crafting arsenal... so if anyone knows for that unit too (or, well, for *any* unit really, for that matter)... then it'd be really great to know, if so, please!
      (as I don't yet have a foil press unit myself, but am VERY tempted and am considering it... so am also trying to assess how much use I'd get out of it... how practical it is... its various potential applications & uses... etc... Otherwise, if I had one already, then I'd experiment with this myself to see whether possible or not!)
      Cuz, as far as my thinking goes: since silicone is known to be very heat-resistant... usually up to around 450°F or 550°F at least... which, even with you "playing hot potato" back there in the video... (while pulling it out after foiling the cerise butterfly)... lol... but even so, I'd *still* imagine that's quite a bit higher than the temperatures these units would ever get up to with foil pressing)...
      ...so, then, with that in mind (and in theory, at least), shouldn't it *also* be feasibly possible to perhaps add in a silicone pad layer too?? ... such as in between the foil and the carbon plate? (that is, if I'd heard you correctly in calling that the 'carbon plate), Wouldn't that provide just the right squishiness needed to achieve an embossed effect simultaneously, while already running the foil pass/process through?? Or would the resulting sandwich with the silicone layer be far too thick to get through the machine all together in one go??
      I don't suppose either of you (or anyone else) feel like playing around & experimenting with this a bit, and then reporting back any successes?? (or failures either, for that matter)... that is, if you don't already know the answer to this yet?? I'd be *super* interested & curious to know whether it's feasible or doable at all!!
      Thanks in advanced! (regardless of whatever the reply is... whether having an answer to this already, or having previously heard anything in respect... or whether even willing to try it out to let me know your thoughts & observations!)... apologies tho, for the very lengthy comment/question as well! :S

    Hiya, petal! I LOVE foiling! I actually have the go press and foil which I like a lot, but the foil quill actually stole my heart and I use those quite a lot. I have so many hot foil plates, but they are so expensive for me. I am thinking about getting the blush coloured minc machine when it comes out as I originally started foiling with deco foil and toner sheets and a laminator. If they are changing the foilpress, I may have to purchase it, but I hate the fact that the top plate is not attached to the machine like the go press is. Any road, blah...blah...blah...always nattering on, me! Ta so much for the video and as always...XXX

    A very pretty card. I love my CC Foil Press, but was horrified that yours was covered in dust!! Dust makes your foiling poor, as advised on CC video. All my machines are covered when not in use to prevent not only dust, Sunlight, which can fade, dry out or damage machines, spillage from drinks, or any other accidents These machines are expensive So please take care of them. It only takes seconds to cover them. (I use old cotton sheets, one sheet cut down will cover several machines).
