Your video was very helpful 👍
Good work, I followed all instructions n I maneged to win but before I did this my car hasn’t been changing gears very well it’s taking too long change wen driving forward gears , I replaced the transmission fluid hoping it will be better.
Did it get better? I am.having the same problem with shifting gears.
Cvt dont change gear. Theres no gear on a cvt transmission. It’s simply adjusting the size of the pullys. Changing the oil will definitely help with the lubrication
How tight to tighten the drain pan bolts ? Mine leaks no matter what. I've tried multiple gaskets and 2 different pans. Any ideas?
What I do is use gasket maker. I run a bead around, no gasket. Assemble immediately. The loosenly tighten bolts. After 1 hour snug up bolts. Dont tighten for 24 hours. let the sealer cure. no leaks.
I replaced my cvt at 110k I did all the maintenance, but was a kid and didn’t know about having to change the cvt fluid . Crazy urs lasted 180k all Original
How is it running after replacing it? Ours is dying at 120k. We’re not sure if it’s worth replacing or not
@@justinh7560 it’s been running good. The mechanic I went to for it said they upgraded a few parts . But it had problems the first time They replaced it , and re did the whole job. When I finally got it , it was super filled with transmission oil . And noticeably running better after draining. Just not sure how prone this issue is to happening again with maintenance
@@xxndgamingxx Oh ok. Well hopefully it stays running good for you. We ended up having hers replaced too. 2 weeks in and so far no issues. It cost a lot of money though, but at the same time buying another used car isn’t cheap either which is why we decided to do it
Shit, parents Altima has 170k and the fluid has never been replaced lol.
@@dumbeezy5480 and it doesn't have any issues? No jitters or slips?
While the car is running after you put the fluid in shift thru all gears and pause for like 5 sec b4 u shift from gear to gear. Go from park all the way down even in over drive then slowly back up to park
That is correct. It is mentioned in factory service manual.
Thank you for the Awesome post, Question is the Allen Bolt prevent Over-Flow thus the removing of the 19mm bolt after fill????
It allows for the correct amount. Here is the best steps: remove drain plug, remove tube "allen bolt", drain fluid. reinstall tube and plug. Add oil. remove drain plug, start engine let warm up. Then reinstall plug. You can fill from bottom or dipstick.
The Allen bolt tube is the transmission fluid level keep adding till it over flows.
yes. with the engine running.
Thanks I didn't now that.
Ive seen other videos to make sure how to do it. I’ve seen other videos not tighten the drain plug all the way to let it drain the new oil. If it waterfalls the new oil, that means it’s full enough?
Correct.
I’m a little confused. So I should take off the main drain plug and unlossen the smaller drain plug to drain all the old fluid..
Then I should tighten the smaller drain plug.
Then I go to the top and take off the dip stick.
Add the 3 quarts fluid using the funnel.
Then check under the car and when I see it slowly dripping that means it full
Then I put the dip stick back in? Is that everything?
remove drain plug, remove tube, drain fluid. reinstall tube and plug. Add oil. remove drain plug, start engine let warm up. Then reinstall plug. You can fill from bottom or dipstick.
Unfortunately my cvt shat the bed at 130k. Was hoping cvt fluid change would fix the issue but it did not. Surprised i made it home with how bad it jitters and slips, there were times when im at a stop light and the car would just not move and i have to restart my car several times. Also i heard some noises probably from the cvt while i was going back. I don’t hear anymore after the fluid change tho.
As i was doing my fluid change i notice about 5 mm shards and sprinkles not sure if thats normal but i assume not. Someone told me to try and do a flush and filter change as it's already broken and might as well go all out as it won't really matter if it does get worse. I've also been told it might take some driving before anything changes.
sounds exactly like what im going through rn. were you able to fix it with this method?
@@markmelanio unfortunately not. Sold the car a couple weeks ago.
I wanted to watch you do it not talk about it 😢
Once you added the fluid......did it register on that dipstick?
There is no traditional dipstick. Its just a plug. There is no way to calculate what is inside.
Awesome video - where can i get the service manual that you are using?
2 places. www.nicoclub.com/nissan-service-manuals or www.nissan-techinfo.com/
Imagine dropping that dill tubes bolt inside that cvt
I have a sentra and I bought it and the transmission went like 10kmiles after I bought it. The dealership reluctantly had the cvt changed for me for free. I'm now coming up on 35k miles since and I think inshould change the fluid. This seems so complicated just spill and fill no more uh. How much does nissan charge from this
How much would nissan charge for cct fluid drain and fill no filter change and to change cv axles and seals if I have the parts. So price for just fluid change and price with fluid change and cv axles and seals. Its not a big job I usually do t his myself but this cvt shit sucks
when i went to the Nissan dealer, they said it's not a good idea to replace/flush the fluid as it could make it worse. I have a 2013 Sentra SL.
I agree. That's why I don't flush like an Auto. Just drain and replace old fluid. Both my cars and still working perfect.
Thank you! I followed all your instructions, it was very helpful and easy to do it. The only thing I don’t understand is, what’s the reason to put more cvt fluid than what is needed and then drain again? Why not put what is drained out? I think is a waste of fluid, I think.
You are correct. I just wanted to make sure full.
@@NissanNut74 thanks for responding, I guess is the only way to know it’s full since Nissan didn’t put a deep stick.
Have you had any issues using the Valvoline CVT fluid versus the Nissan fluid?
No, using it on 2 of my Nissans for 4 years now. I am not sure who makes the Nissan version. But its not Nissan.
@@NissanNut74 Great! thank you ~ so helpful. Either DIY or there's a two week wait for a shop plus a ton of money.
@@NissanNut74 idemitsu of Japan makes Nissan as well the Honda fluid and that’s part of the problem personally I prefer the castrol for imports CVT version on Japanese cars like Honda and Nissan and if your willing to spend more money the Amsoil is best
@@rosieclark3661 Thanks, I did use castrol engine oil exclusively on all My nissans since 1984. I had used castrol trans fluid for a few years. I recently switched to valvoline due to clearer Nissan compatibility on the transmission oils. So now I use valvoline trans and all 4. They make trans oil for my LEAF, versa and sentra CVTs and my Frontier auto trans.
Does the oil change stops the “rumble strip vibration”? A lot people complain about this vibration in Nissan forums and mentioned that transmission oil change fixes it.
My kids own these 2 vehicles. Neither has noticed any issues before or after the oil changes. I change the oil every few years. I test drive them occassionaly and have noticed no issues.
@@NissanNut74 it’s an annoying low vibration. The transmission gears changes perfectly fine. Just bought the car for my daughter. I would hate to go spend $6K+ to swap out the transmission. I am having the transmission oil change tomorrow at the dealer, $400 to do it. I am hoping it will resolve it. Will the rumble get worse over time? She will be driving locally a total of 14 miles a day going back and forth to school. Should I be overly concerned?
I would definitely change the oil. Its cheap and easy. Then I would check cvaxles and mounts first. I had a vibration on my 04 quest, 5 speed auto. Turns out it was just a torn trans mount. @@Ramakan
@@NissanNut74 ok. Good to know! Thank you so much! I appreciate it a lot!
How many liters of oil does the CVT box carry?
This is what I’m still tryna figure out
On my 2019 the tranny refill tube faces up? Why did you take the tube out?
I removed the tiny dipstick to refill. I took the tube out to unclip the dipstick.
I have to worm up the car before drain the fluid?
To check the level, it should be at a certain temp range. You can drain when cold.
How can I get a service manual?
There is a few options on mywebpage nissannut.com/fsm/
You need to use the cvt fluid nissan sentra OEM
Actually you don't need it. There is lots of compatible options.
Dang no part 2 ?!? 😅 i just boight a 2015 sentra and HAVE TO DROP THIS DIRTY CVT FLUID lol
No part 2 needed. Did I miss something? Check out my versa version for more details. ruclips.net/video/BN8vIoXeh7A/видео.html
@NissanNut74 no my man. Enjoyed the video
@@dirtymig0pp772 Thanks!!
How hard would it be for the factory to just add a small dipstick?? All this pain in the ass would be solved.
Both of mine have a dipsticks, just dont work as before. But I think the point is auto leveling. You fill until the fluid drains out, so the correct amount is entered. Does that make sense? I am going to fill with pump from below next year. I change every year.
@@NissanNut74 great video by the way. I’m changing my 2013 Sentra as we type. I’m adding a Hayden trans cooler (w/built in thermostat). I bought a trans cooler adapter that has 4 tubes instead of factory 2 tube. That allows an inline trans cooler.
After watching tgis it would seem a lot safer and better to have it done. This guy makes it seem impossible.
I thought he did a great job!
no point in changing fluid if not changing filters...both filters. pan filter and intercooler filter behind driver's wheel well
The filter does not need to be changed. I notice the difference.
Did you just put Automatic transmission fluid on a CVT transmission. 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
No, its CVT oil, its totally different than ATF. I use valvoline brand. Its clear.
Not for me going to Nissan
That’s not good at all American cars you can access any fluid the car has? Almost makes me want to get another car 👎👎👎
I agree my USA made Nissan Frontier I can check the oil.
Do you have the second part for this?
@@abelromandelrio5367 I do have another one. I will upload today.
@@abelromandelrio5367 ruclips.net/video/BN8vIoXeh7A/видео.html Here is a newer version of a complete CVT oil change
Cry and complain too much
Thanks!
Waste if time. Looks nothing like my 2014 nissan Sentra SL. Very indescript poorly thought out video of not much guidance or help.
This is a 2014 Base model Sentra, USA model.
Your suppose to change the internal filters, your wasting your money and time if you dont and you will need a new transmission
I plan n the next oil change.
