Thank you for being such a pauper advocate. I've been waiting years for it to catch on in the paper world. Now I can finally brush the dust off my Affinity and Mono Black decks and play them in real life since pauper events are regularly firing at my LGS down here in Fresno CA. You have a large amount of my gratitude for this, prof! Let's all work to keep up the momentum and get an official non-MTGO paper ban-list and regs so that it can be even more accessible to aspiring budget players!
I have to admit prof: you sold me on pauper, and many people at my locals as well. We've got a small league going, and its been great.
Cryptic serpent would be a good creature for this deck as well.

This looks pretty close to my UB Delver list in Pauper, but I really like the choices you made in Compulsive Research and Forbidden Alchemy. I'm going to have to try those out!

He finally made a video of the pauper deck I play. It was bound to happen I guess. This a great control deck. Usually only lose with bad draws or getting overrun by slivers or elves if you don't have enough early answers.

just a minor hint Prof: maybe you should show the common prints of the cards in this deck, so new viewers aren't confused if the card is actually playable
Better yet, don't show the online-only versions of cards with price tags in dollars instead of tickets.

Seconded. I was confused at the inclusion of uncommons.
ArmadilloAl It Kind of makes sense, considering how the legality list goes off of MTGO legality.
Some cards were never printed in common exept online, so for cards like chainer’s edict he has to show or the online only version with the common simbol, or the printed real card but with the uncommon symbol

Its a UW deck with a splash of G. The core of the deck is Evoke creatures with angelic renewal which will get me 2 triggers or in my late game finisher a Walker of the Grove plus a token. I also have a few blink effects for added value with spellstutter sprites to go with the blinks. Wretched Gryffs are in the deck to proc angelic renewal and value off of the ETB triggers. Deck is fun and people don't expect to play against it which is always a bonus!

I’ve been looking at pauper faeries, and I know how much you like those. Might be cool, interesting tempo/control deck, you should check it out, maybe do a deck tech?
UG Tempo. Delver+Nimble Mongoose+Werebear. You run bounce cards and control spells. The goal is to drop early threats and then pop! Threats off the board and get in.
I wish Bounding Krasis had been printed at Common, then maybe such a deck could be a thing.. It's my dream to be able to play UG Tempo in Pauper, but alas.. Closest we have is Madness, and that's not exactly T1. :/
I want to see a brew of your own design Prof! That or an updated Slivers deck.
Building this on MTGO at the moment, just want to offer a little ultra-budget tip: Vodalian Zombie can be substituted for Zombie Outlander, the former costs over a ticket while the latter is less than a tenth of one. The only functional difference is that Prof is running a Merfolk Zombie in an old frame, which is slightly cooler than a Zombie Scout from Conflux. They're both 2/2s with pro-green that cost UB.
Id like to see you put together a dinosaur pauper with new dinos and older cards for support

Could we see a Pauper ‘Glyphs’ tech? It’s a really cool deck which tries to reverse engineer the current aggro meta by playing walls and then flinging them at your opponent for the win.
Given that none of the Glyphs are Pauper-legal (at least as long as it's trying to be a paper format with online deck construction rules), this seems unlikely.

So I've been waiting to find a control deck before hopping into pauper. Given your comments on the versatility of the deck and my experience being exclusively edh, any suggestions on cards to grab playsets of to try out? Not really sure what format Staples are but if it's only five or ten more to have better options for more matchups that's cool.

This is hilarious, but also a great deck tech... that is gonna make me buy yet another pauper deck... dammit prof, you got me. Again. OH. And if Rich wants a blue control deck, Mono-U tron exists in Pauper... and even uses the same strategy as the modern deck! Mono-U Pauper-Tron is my JAM.

I have a question about different counterspells. Why do I never see rune snag in deck lists? I get that prohibit always counters a 2 cmc for 2 mana no matter what point of the game you are in. But I always like rune snag when it was in standard, and in a deck that is milling itself a bit with forbidden alchemy, couldn't rune snag be just as good as prohibit, but more versatile? Rune snag is often going to make them pay 4, if not more, later in the game. Or is the absolute guarantee from something like prohibit just more important than rune snags versatility?
The issue with conditionnal card such Rune Snag is giving the possibility to your opponent. Generally in a counterspell war the "debate" is whenever you invest more ressource into the counterspell war or not. Rune snag doesn't require you card to counter, thus you keep your card advantage. Lets take a simple example, I cast a Fugitive Wzard, you cast Rune Snag, I pay 4. Yes I did pay 5 for my Fugitive Wizard, but I didn't loose a single ressource, only mana. The main issue with control is the ressource war, the card advantage. Rune Snag is more a tempo card then a ressource card (Such as delver).. At least that's my 2 cent, I might be wrong but its how I see it.
I love coldsnap but runesnag is fighting most of the best counter spells in magic such as spell pierce and daze. That said there's always room for rouge decks with hot tech answers in more open formats like pauper and you might find the right meta for it.
My control deck is mono-U mono-counterspells, but it does kinda lean on Deserts, which are of questionable legality since they're not on modo.

Augur of Bolas is great! It's not only an 1/3 for 2 but it will always let you look at the top 3 cards and then put them on the bottom of your deck! In any order! How is that not great?
