Was watching older Pauper videos last night, and man the new editing just shines even brighter! Absolutely some of the cleanest editing in a deck tech I've ever seen.
hey prof, thanks for introducing me to pauper! i always thought budget magic would be awfully boring, but it turns out i can play a lot of old/powerful cards that i love. atog affinity is actually very close to one of the first decks i ever built when i started out.
Ram Through from Ikoria could be a good alternative to Essence Harvest. It's a little cheaper, (both in terms of mana and dollars), it's an instant, it functions as removal so it's pretty reasonable to maindeck it instead of keeping it in the sideboard, and it's green, so it doesn't require mana fixing. There are some drawbacks however. Your bogle has to have trample for the burn damage to work, and your opponent needs to have a creature to target, so it's not going to be very good in bogle mirror matches. Edit: On second thought, it does cause damage, and damage can be prevented, so it's not 100% an alternative to essence harvest. It'll still help get damage through in most situations though.
Ah, Bogles. When I saw the pauper bogles list for pauper, I realized how similar it was to a modern list, minus the manabase, and that’s how I made my first modern deck.
I'd really like to see you play some pauper some time. Whether it be online, against a bot or another player, or in paper against a friend or in a tournament or something. Sure there's tournament play recorded but you just give off a nice relaxed vibe for a time exclusively for enjoyment of this great game
@@snugswashere6504 I put in 4 of each Midnight Guard and Presence of Gond, and I took out the 1x Cartouche. 1x Gladecover Scout, and I never added the cards Favour of the Overbeing nor the Utopian Sprawl.
Just recently started playing mtg because of arena and I fell in love with the aura deck type...and only now did I just know why it called a "boggle" deck...hopefully pioneer will be available on mtga...I'm excited to make the true boggles deck :-)
Huh I never thought about how vampiric link and spirit link are kind of like half of a pacify. They can still block and be effective in combat, but if they attack you just dont block and nothing happens, unless they have lethal. Fringe utility! The best part of the game
I really wish we still got cards with old templating, like pseudo-lifelink and old slivers I know it makes the game really hard to understand for new players, but it makes the game so much more interesting for those who do know what's going on
I always liked oblivion ring, a bit expensive, but it gives you a bit more oomph from your ancestral masks and can hit a mirrors buffing enchantments. Though I guess I'm underselling how much that 3 mana would wind up costing you.
Not really. The main creatures already dodge targeted removal, and Aura Gnarlid is usually big enough to not be removed by anything other than Doom Blade, a card that is VERY unpopular on the format. In the end, it just becomes a +2/+2 for W, in a format where there are better green pump spells such as Giant Growth, Groundswell and Vines of Vastwood. Bogles wants constant growth, not temporary.
I've been playing Boogles and Izzet Blitz since pauper became a thing and its a tried and true monster of a deck, my friends would rather see me playing blitz than the hexy bois lol
These are the videos I love - relatively cheap and fun-to-play deck techs! Also, "BOG-gle" /ˈbɒgl/is actually the older British pronunciation of "bogle", weirdly enough 😋
I’d just like to point out that “boggle” and “bogle” are basically the same word as both spellings can be used interchangeably to refer to the same creature of folklore that Slippery Bogle is supposed to be. In fact the common verb usage of the word “boggle” as in “boggles the mind” most likely comes from this very creature, as it is supposed to be a being that exists to confuse people, rather than help people as brownies do, or hurt them as boggarts do. So say it however you want, it really doesn’t matter.
And while we're at it explaining word origins from folklore creatures: "Ouphe" is pronounced like "oaf", as the latter is in fact derived from the former. The word literally translates to "elf child" and basically describes a changeling, a child that was abducted by elves or faeries and replaced with one of their own.
What legal standard would this deck fall under? I have not been in MTG since Return to Ravnica, so I am not in the know. Answers appreciated, so thank you in advance.
Arena has plenty of decent edict cards. Vraska's Fall, Innocent Blood, Pharika's Liberation, and Benalish Sleeper should all be legal in whatever version of pauper Arena has. Chainer's Edict is also on Arena, although only as an uncommon, check if it lets you put it in a pauper deck anyways though.
But ins't the ruling text for reach "may block as though it had "flying"? Or is that outdated? I am fairly certain that was at least the wording before "reach" was a keyword.
You can see it for a second in the video, as reminder text on Spidersilk Armor when the Prof is discussing Silhana Ledgewalker, but the reminder text for Reach states "This creature can block creatures with flying." The old rules text, "~ may block as though it had flying," is outdated, and it can be debated whether or not it applies in this scenario anyways.
To be fair, this 50$ pauper deck have a very stablished list for his price tag and hardly changes from time to time. A 50$ EDH, well, will generally be just a budget version of something he'll never be :v
I think that it's hilarious that you would try to compare a 50$ pile that will never beat anyone outside the kitchen table to a similarly priced non-rotating, competitively tuned constructed deck and think that the former gives you "more value"
I'm not sure if I understand your question, so I'll answer by explaining how hexproof works. Only the controller of a hexproof creature can target that creature with spells and abilities. If you are in control of a bogle, you can enchant it. You cannot enchant your opponent's bogle.
Serenity isn't legal in pauper. If you mean Serene heart, bogles isn't a big enough deck that people will play that against you. Usually, the main sideboard card against you is standard bearer, which just means you need to pack some more removal (I find journey to nowhere to be the best option in GW.

Have you considered requesting Prof do videos on topics you're interested in for free without belittling the work him and the crew did or condescending bogles players?
I am glad that there are both insane jigsaw puzzle decks like Eggs and beginner-friendly decks like Bogles in Magic. Everyone has to start somewhere. "Hey kids, remember when damage went on the stack? No?! Well that's why you are kids"
I found it a bit strange he used the word "why" as "because" here, is that common? Reminds me of how they're very similar words in Spanish
The lack of remembrances is not the reason why someone would be a kid. The cause of kidditude is the relative recentness of one's incarnation.
