Turn 1 Faithless, pitch Ulamog's Crusher and Dragon Breath into the graveyard. Turn 2 Exhume, bring back Crusher, Dragon Breath triggers and attaches for a 8/8 Annihilator 2 firebreathing eldrazi on turn 2. GG?
You could also do more fast mana strategies, such as lotus petal + dark ritual for turn one reanimation possibilities. Plus with lotus petal, it can add white and add to your delve cost, cutting the land draw and increasing open mana fixing. Just some brewing ideas I have for Mardu reanimator. Looks so sick!
Was a joy to help you with this video Professor. I hope lots of people raise tons of gigantic monstrosities from the dead to devour some delicious commons at events in the near future! 💀👻
Diego Sarbieri unfortunately Crypt (and Nihil Spellbomb) come down and get used immediately. As such, there really isn’t anything that can be done. The best is to try reanimating quickly or else fuel the yard up for a Gurmag Angler, since we can actually cast that.
@@willlozinak5182 you got many options Navigator´s Compass, Mana Cylix, Crumbling Vestige, Painted Bluffs, Shimmering Grotto, Unknown Shores. also chromatic star , chromatic sphere, lotus petal, prophetic prism or prismatic lens between many others
That feeling when you see an old card you didn’t remember and you recognize it from the art. Makes you all warm and fuzzy like seeing an old friend. I learned to play magic with portal and 7th
As the meta of pauper is still being shaken up, I would like to offer a few more cards to consider in the sideboard/main. Most of this is based off my B/R version of this deck that I currently have, but I think it's still useful to mention a few of these cards. Lightning Axe [R, Instant: As an additional cost to cast Lightning Axe, discard a card of pay 5. Lightning Axe deals 5 to target creature.] - While you lose the ability to deal more than 5 to a creature, you still get a very good cheap removal spell and even a way to discard a card you need out of your hand to reanimate. Chainer's Edict [1B, Sorcery, Target player sacrifices a creature. Flashback 5BB] - Another great option against boogles or just solid removal in general. Especially since you have the ability to cast it from the graveyard. Electrickery [R, Instant: Electrickery deals 1 damage to target creature you don't control. Overload 1R] - Overloading an Electrickery to clear the board of X/1s is super powerful and sometimes is what you need. Blazing Volley is an alternative to consider, but Electrickery is just so flexible that the extra 1 mana to overload it is worth it. Bojuka Bog [Land: Bojuka Bog enters the battlefield tapped. When Bojuka Bog enters the battlefield, exile all cards from target player's graveyard. Tap: Add B] - This a great way to have main deck graveyard hate in case you don't want certain creatures of theirs to be reanimated with Exhume. The mana base in this three color version doesn't have room for many copies though, but I think you can squeeze one copy of this land at least for extra insurance. I would still keep Tormod's Crypt in the sideboard though in case you really need the graveyard hate. Shred Memory - [1B, Instant: Remove up to four target cards in a single graveyard from the game. Transmute 1BB] - This card is, again, good maindeck graveyard hate for getting rid of the problematic creatures you don't want back on the battlefield with Exhume. You can also use this card to tutor up an Exhume or one of your discard spells easily too. Breath of Life makes needing graveyard hate a little less necessary, but this card is still nice for a couple of copies regardless just for the tutor ability alone. Eldrazi Devestator [8, Creature - Eldrazi: Trample (8/9)] - This is no Sandwurm, but this creature is able to be casted from your hand if you need to, which could be important. If you're worried about not being able to cast Sandwurm, you could consider this as a replacement, especially since it can trample. This card also synergies well with Dragon's Breath thanks to it's trample keyword. This creature is vulnerable to small deathtouchers though, so keep that in mind. I hope some people find these suggestions useful. Again, some of these cards might not work depending on your local meta, however more options is always a good thing and I know that I will be keeping some of these cards when I go to upgrade my current R/B list to this Mardu list. Thank you Professor for the decktech. It's always nice to see other people's brews and ideas. It's what helps keep the metas evolving and from becoming stale. And I hope my suggestions help some people as well.
I run a R/B reanimator in pauper like yours, honestly wont be changing to mardu. The R/B version is super consistent, i have recently added a playset of lotus petal though for some super ramp.
Prof, you have inspired me to officially get into Pauper. I am going to build this deck and one that I saw this week on MTG Goldfish (4-color black Pestilence). Thanks for the push over the years! I hope you continue to put out more Pauper content, as it is really fun and financially accessible to me.
Just finished my first pauper tournament today, and I loved it, was great fun and I wanted to thank you professor, to make me discover that incredible format !
Hello Professor! Another great video, as always. Many thanks for helping us newer players out with such a vast array of resourceful and informative videos! I'm finally feeling comfortable enough to attend my first FNM at my local game store, so again, thank you for creating pertinent content and explaining everything from mere basics to fairly in-depth mechanics. You've made an instant fan of me! :)
Great vid prof! I’d like to see some updates to some of your past decks to see how recent sets and additions may have changed them. For example, goblins with goblin grenade, maybe zombies with lazotep reaver and ob nixilis’s cruelty etc. It doesn’t need to go over the whole tech, maybe just a quick screenshot of the old tech, and explain which cards the player may want to consider. Whatever balance of less work and more info/tech you can do.
People talk about astrolabe ban... I actually dont know if it decreases format diversity or increases. I mean, look at how many multicolored decks became possible
Astrolabe will become a staple in most decks that it would be run in almost all competitive decks, it might increase diversity but you should know that it's very powerful for just one card to have a big effect on the format's future.
I think it'd be unwise of Wizards of the Coast to ban a card that doesn't reduce format diversity. Isn't the entire point of banning cards to increase format diversity? It's also a newly printed card that encourages you to buy other newly printed cards.
I just got done watching all the playlist for Pauper. Thank you! I hope the next Pauper video is soon. I would like to see a artifact/colorless Pauper deck if able.
Angler is 6 and a black not 5 and a black other than that great video been playing turbo Re-Animator B/R for years going to pick these cards up and give your version a try, no Apostles blessing?
I think your cards are generally large enough to not need protection from anything given the removal in the format. Now if this deck becomes big online and in paper, I can definitely see adding some number of apostle's blessing, or even reworking the mana base to be able to reliably cast god's willing.
I stared getting back into the format on mtgo and plan on building a new deck every paycheck so this may be my next build till I learn the meta game better and are able to brew.
At 11:10 Gorilla shaman is stated to Cost 1,25 each, 4x costing a total of 1,25. For those of You not well worsed in math, 4 gorilla shaman is actually 5 Dollars.
If your looking for other options for huge creatures to reanimate there is always Eldrazi Devastator from Battle for Zendikar, an 8/9 with trample. Ulamog’s Crusher would be a better option sure but sometimes the trample damage could be relevant 😊
Could you do an update to izzet blitz? I saw your deck tech on it and that is what got me into pauper, but with the recent bannings of gush and probe is that deck dead or is it still salvageable?
Hi Professor! Please review some Standard decks as well. There had been a lot of EDH, Modern and Pauper reviews lately. Don't forget the Standard, please!
I would add Crypt Rats instead of Sandstorm in the sideboard. Usually you Don t need 5 damage to everything and you can activate them much faster than sandstorm. In case you dredge it, just reanimated it.
I’d like to give a shout out to gift of orzhova. It’s a 3 cost of 1 B/W B/W and it gives a creature +1/+1, flying, and lifelink. This is stronger on striped riverwinder thanks to hexproof, but a flying, lifelinking 9/9 with annihilator 2 will leave everyone and everything floundering in terror.
Gurmag Angler now costs five generic and one Black mana, bringing the total mana cost to 6, in place of the traditional seven, 6 Generic and one Black mana. You heard it here first ; ) Jk: love your stuff Proff.
Who would have thought... it's super obvious for over ten years that wizards just wants money and doesn't care about secondary market so those cards will always be expensive and you need to pay a couple hundred bucks (or even more) to have a competitive deck.
@@LapahnYT Yeah, premium products don't lower prices until you get a goyf situation, where it's clear the intention is to run the price into the ground. Even goyf went UP in price after his first reprint. A card isn't actually reprinted unless it's uncommon or below, hence why rarity has no place in reprint sets. It directly fights against the entire point of the set, all for the sake of limited. As if every single other set isn't already compromising for limited enough already.
Premium, limited run product doesn't impact cost very much. Wizards cares too much about maintaining the secondary market for "investor confidence" than actually allowing their game to be playable at a high level for most people.
I was looking at building Faeries in Pauper and came to the conclusion that you're better off building Delver if you want to play with Faeries. Faerie tribal is unfortunately underpowered in pauper

Hey Professor, what do you think of Ransack the Lab in the deck? I'm going to be trying the card in my Rakdos Reanimator deck instead of Tormenting Voices. I think it could be good because the deck already has plenty of ways to get cards that are already in your hand into your graveyard, so being able to select from the top of your library could be useful if you don't happen to have the cards you need in hand. It's certainly also a better topdeck than Tormenting Voice if the game goes long.
Can someone explain the advantage to putting pyroblast vs red elemental blast into a deck is? I see the different card texts but I can’t tell why it makes it better.
Hydroblast/Pyroblast can actually legally target a spell but will do nothing unless it is blue/red respectively. In Pauper this is only relevant in UR Kiln Fiend decks that simply want to throw out a bunch of spells. Red/Blue elemental blasts must have legal targets when casting as they don't have the same clause. It's an interesting swap of words that changes functionality! For the sake of pauper, other than UR kiln Fiend decks, Red/Blue elemnatl blast will always be better as they are cheaper than pyro/hydroblast!
This deck is awesome! Btw, what do you do against BO3 sided in graveyard hate? Are you just trying to outpace the graveyard hate, or did I miss a way to get around it?
@@humphrex I don't understand this comment. Are you saying the graveyard strategy folds to Faerie Macabre? Because this deck gets hurt by all graveyard hate, which Stevie P clearly understands given their question. And Faerie Macabre is probably the weakest hate in the format, so I don't know why that was your example of a graveyard hate card over Nihil Spellbomb, Bojuka Bog, or Tormod's Crypt.
Hey, could you please deck tech a Rakdos Deck featuring Astrolabe, costly plunder, goblin grenade, kuldotha rebirth, ichor wellspring, thorn of the black rose, audacious thief perhaps, something along those lines?
Professor, what do you believe about Shenanigans instead of Gorilla Shaman for the sideboard. Even tho it’s just dredge 1 and it’s a sorcery, I personally find it better. Plus, it can be less slots in the sideboard. While it’s true it’s more vulnerable against graveyard hate which you will face constantly, i still find it better than gorilla shaman

Having played rakdos turbo reanimator, you gotta exhume turn 3 at the latest. Plus your crusher can die/ get bounced just as easily. It's a hard deck to play because itll lose to itself 2/5 games.
What about Mind Rake from MH (3 mana discard 2 with overload 1B: everyone discards 2 cards)? seems like a possible discard outlet that also cuts away at your opponents ability to contest what you're doing.
GG?

Sounds so degenerate that I thought it's modern lol

@@humphrex yeah youre looking to turn one or turn two or its over
Having played rakdos turbo reanimator, you gotta exhume turn 3 at the latest. Plus your crusher can die/ get bounced just as easily. It's a hard deck to play because itll lose to itself 2/5 games.
If bogles is a huge problem, what about a patrician's scorn sideboard?
Do a teachings tech with the Instructor!
Looks pretty good. Have you been able to test this either with MTGO or paper?
I wish you would show us some gameplay with these decks somehow
What about Mind Rake from MH (3 mana discard 2 with overload 1B: everyone discards 2 cards)? seems like a possible discard outlet that also cuts away at your opponents ability to contest what you're doing.
If there is one can you do a video on a good pauper artifacts deck?
Another hit! Unfortunately I didn't receive a notification on this either
Darkness needs a reprint!
No Ransack the Lab as a black alternative to some of the red discard/draw sorceress?
