Mono Black Ponza - The Pauper Land Destruction Tech that let’s you Wreck the Heck out of your opponent’s Deck. Mono Black Ponza takes one of if not the most unfun things in Magic, the ability to destroy your opponent’s lands, and runs wild with it, throwing in cruel removal and chittering rats to essentially lock your opponent out from, well doing anything. The deck is super competitive, highly versatile, and best of all costs only about $20 dollars to build. It’s Pauper, so no card here will ever rotate, that 20 dollars gets you a deck for life, although fair warning, once your friends realize your on land destruction they may tell you to get a life, or a new set of friends. FUN! Let’s take a look!

The second this video hits the screen - it's not a 20$ deck anymore.
Edit: 24 hours later price tag for MTGO went from 21$ to 42$.
Its around 200 dollars now
ya price of commons has doubled from the pauper gp being a thing
Skyla Jade Forster I don’t know where you’re getting your cards from because I got it for $50 on cardkingdom and it was only that high because I got some more expensive versions of the cards
The_OG_Bastard that’s because the prices spiked now their back down to a still fairly high pauper deck
I really hope that pauper gets the support that it deserves!
Affinity For Commander imagine common cards becoming expensive
Whilst it may increase the price of some cards a bit, I doubt that it will have a huge impact on the market, given that commons are printed in a much higher rate than rares.

Affinity For Commander they should make more pauper legends. I mean I know that any creature can be a pauper commander. But I feel like sticking to traditions
It's a bad business decision to support Pauper too much. They can to an extent, but if WOTC push Pauper as a major format they would deter people from purchasing new packs, which is what their entire business model is built upon.

Moacir Melo I'd say the only games you don't have a reasonable chance at winning are the ones where opponent is on the play and opens with Evolving Wilds/Island into a cantrip.

Louise Drake Evolving Wilds crack on your end-step (meaning you can't blow it up) into cantrip is what I'm talking about. Evolving Wilds is just good against LD early.
Shawn Diaz, yeah i was thinking exactly this. The other player could land a turn 2 delver, if it flips turn 3, it could be a threat.

It's been four decks already pauper that I've built after seeing them here
I don't even like playing Ponza or control-like strategies, but I've been having so much fun with the format and the price tags are so nice that I can't help building more decks to keep playing with friends

Awesome deck tech, I took my Wizards survey recently, I put Pauper under other format and mentioned Pauper as much as possible during the survey!

Prof, I made your BG delver pauper deck, never used it once since there isn't many pauper events in my country. Bought 2 chainer' edict at the time, planing to sell them now and upgrade my Alesha edh deck (thanks to you too)

I think you prefer paper pauper but considering how popular the format is on MTGO, it couldn't hurt to put the TIX price on the cards too when you put the price graphics on there. Even if you don't mention it in your script, it would be useful info to MTGO players who are thinking of buying this deck to know what the cards will cost them as well during the video without pausing it and looking up prices every 15 seconds haha. Thanks for the great content as always Prof, keep it up!

Hey prof, i recommend geths verdict instead of diabolic edict. It has the same sac effect, but ads a ping to the opponent. Its double black instead of one and a black, but in mono black, thats not a drawback.
Professor is probably using diabolic edit for the awkward situations where you have a Radiant Fountain and a swamp and need to kill a bogles on turn 2, that could happen.
or dont run RF and fix that nonsense.

Hi Prof, i actually play a Pauper Paper RG Land Destruction, it is a lot fun!
I run a BR Ponza, massive fun to pilot. Plus it gives me a way to remove the bane of Pauper, Guardian of the Guildpact.

Finally did a deck tech - been running this for about 9 years. Slightly different build I pilot but has 3-0 at GPs recently. I fondly recall the Prof telling me I was an evil man for playing this deck at GP Birm hehe. If you build it people will hate you though ;)

So I'm a few days late but a suggestion I have to make after some pauper I played between draft rounds tonight: jund reanimator. Probably one of the decks I've been most surprised to run into in the format (and with the diversity of this format that's saying a lot). It was a wonderful deck, super challenging to beat, and I'd love to see your take on it.

I'm playing in a pauper tournament next Saturday. If I run into a lot of U/B control, I might think of making this deck to get vengeance! U/B control makes me miserable and it was basically the only deck I ran into during my last pauper tournament
Gonna try a red black variation of this.
I would like to see a deck that is both green/white and the engine is life gain gives counters to creatures as well. My own version runs archangel of thune and sunbonds being the main pieces.
I can't help but hear "Pauper Bob, Pauper Bob" whenever I come across that name or Dark Confidant now.
I love Pauper.
Love LD. Its better than getting blue white controled. The brutality of just out right stoping them from playing spells is better than the illusion of letting them attempt to play spells and fail.

Hi Prof, some 20 years ago I made a deck based on Nightmares from Odyssey block (Faceless Butcher, Petravark, Soul Scourge, etc). The goal was to exile opponent's creatures, life, cards and lands as your creatures come into play. It turned out it can be a deacent pauper deck. Maybe this could be the next one you try out and fine tune?

I have a standard deck idea that uses two Squees a Gilded Lotus and a paradox engine to get infinite historic cast triggers with Diligent Excavator. It's not good, but you're good at brewing so could you please look into this combo?
Get first with this deck felt so dirty, but oh so good. Blew out people left and right cause no one expects the instant speed edicts. Their faces of misery were truly beautiful...
