- This Lent there are 5 things we're just not doing... we are crossing these items off our list! After a rough Advent last year, we learned some lessons that we are definitely taking with us into the next 6 weeks. Our goal this Lent is to follow Jesus more closely wherever He takes us- even out into the wilderness! We think saying goodbye to each of these items will help us do just that. So join us here today at Catholic Mom and Daughter for a look at what we're skipping this Lent- plus a couple of things we are embracing with enthusiasm. Jesus, we trust in you! Have a blessed Lent!

What are your plans for this Lent?
When I make the sign of the cross I say "in the name of the Father (from whom all good things come), and of the Son (who died to give us eternal life) and of the Holy Spirit (the fountain of Divine charity). Amen.
That is really beautiful! Thank you for sharing it with us :)
One year I did not give up any sort of food/drink and I didn't feel that I was sacrificing enough for Jesus. This year, I am giving up coffee creamer (yes, it may sound odd and trivial, but I REALLY love creamer and drinking black coffee is not going to be fun.) I am also giving up games on my computer and hitting the snooze button. I am going to read Cardinal Zen's meditations, recite the Divine Mercy Chaplet each Friday and attend Stations of the Cross. I plan to donate more money to Heartbeat, one of our local pro life organizations that helps moms, dads and babies. Thanks for all of your suggestions. Wise women, you are.
Creamer and the snooze button! Isn't it funny how little things like this can be so hard? God bless you this Lent... and all the moms, dads and babies you are helping to support. That is wonderful!
I am always late to the party! Thank you for another great and inspiring video. I love the idea of not having to do everything right. It spoke directly to me for sure. Great advice. I will put this into practice this Lent. God bless you, ladies!❤
That is also a hard one for us! We can pray for each other especially during this Lent!

Thanks for sharing these; some really made me think. Number 3 is something that I struggle with, especially as I'm planning to move to the city after living in a small village all my life. When I make the sign of the cross, I think/say in the name of the Father(who created me), and of the Son(who forgives me) and the Holy Spirit(who descends upon me & helps me pray), amen.
Thank you for being here with us !
What a beautiful way to make the sign of the cross, Lena! Thank you for sharing :)
First, thank you for sharing Lent with us! I am going to devote 20 for rosary everyday and cutting WAY down on naughty snacks. Also, recognizing all my blessings, and remembering to pray for the Holy Souls. God Bless you Ladies!
Lol- naughty snacks. We have that brand here, too. The holy souls will be so glad you are praying for them... such a beautiful work of mercy!
Really interesting discussion. Be flexible and lose the perfectionism. I like the idea of not seeking to know every detail ahead of time but letting "Jesus be your security". So nice to loose a bit of that anxiety. I generally am content to do less during Lent but to do it well and have learned what I can tolerate in terms of fasting and extra prayer. One thing I discovered very satisfying in more recent years is the joy of almsgiving.
That is wonderful- we love how you put it: "the joy of almsgiving".
Your comments on perfectionism really hit a chord! I really struggle with that.
Same.
Thank you! I really enjoyed this video especially points 2 and 5 . Thx for bringing this to my attention . Wishing you both a beautiful Lent
Thank you- you as well!
I agree with making the sign of the cross more conscientiously. Recently I had noticed times when I skipped words and have been making more of an effort to be present when I am praying.
We are glad we are not alone in this! We can work on it together this Lent :)
Excellent! Thank you! I’m big on words too❤️
Thank you so much for all your good ideas ! I also have that picture in my car. I also put holy water in a spray bottle and try to spray myself everyday . Another site suggested putting rosary beads under your pillow each night and I’m doing that also 🙏❤️😊
Number 3 is hard. Thank you so much for sharing with us. ❤😊
For us, too, Brenda. Yet it feels like there is great freedom in not worrying about knowing all the time. Ironically, half the time when we do know, the plan changes!
@@catholicmomanddaughter ☺️❤️
I'm giving up sweets and cream in my coffee. I'm adding joining our pro life group and adding more exercise into my life during Lent. On top of fasting and praying 🙏❤
Oh yes give up them evil sweets and cream they are so sinful so many people have gone to hell for eating too much cream and sweets.
I am also giving up cream in my coffee! (Among other things. It already has been a challenge just two mornings into Lent.
What a beautiful plan, Angela. Joining a pro life group is wonderful!
It seems like something little like that would be no big deal, but it can be amazingly hard! Small things done with great love :)
@@annlink8265 I feel you. The reward that I'm getting is a closer walk with the Lord. Morning number 2 after Ash Wednesday is hard but the extra prayers help 🙏
Sounds like y’all are gonna eat fried chicken and chill.
Lol- that would be a most interesting Lent!
