Of course these were all taught when I was in catholic school in the 1960's. So sad no one knows this now.😮
We have less Holy Days of Obligation in New Zealand - it is quite a shock if I’m watching USA Catholic content and they say “and today is a Holy Day of Obligation…” and I have a small panic and check and it’s usually not for us. I worked in a parish office and I’d often have to remind our church cleaning volunteers not to tip Holy Water down the sink when they washed the fonts! Same with blessed palms after Palm Sunday! (Not down the sink but also not respectfully storing them until they are burnt for Ash Wednesday)
Very interesting! In our diocese the bishop will often move or even suspend a holy day (if it falls on a Monday), so that keeps us on our toes. Yes- the palms from Palm Sunday get the worst treatment... bits scattered on the ground after mass or left behind in pews.
It's crazy!
I am new to the faith and feel very blessed to find your channel, thank you! God bless!

As ever, thank you Ladies, you are such a big help to old timers in RCIA lol, God Bless you both, and the nice folks I encounter here in the world of the comment section. I needed this lesson!
It's a good refresher for us all, and we're so glad it was helpful for you :). The Holy Days of Obligation (outside of Sunday) really keep us on our toes every year.... always have to see here what the Bishop decides to do with some of them!
I love these videos. Your Chosen extra videos popped up in my RUclips feed (I’m going to Utah in April to be an extra for season 5) and I’m enjoying exploring the others you’ve posted. God bless!

To get a record of sacraments go to church where you were baptised
I enjoyed your video very much.
One thing perhaps to add could be "how to volunteer at your church"
"how to become a catechist."
Those are great suggestions- thank you!
Thanks Jennifer and Kate really helpful ❤

Days of Obligation:
What should you do if you missed a day?
Hello- this is a great question! If you miss a day, the best thing to do (at least this is what we have been counseled to do here) is tell the priest at your next confession.
A little late, but thank you both.❤
Such great information. Have a wonderful day ! Thank you
Thank you! You too!
This is basic we are in Florida dio of st Pete

In Canada, we only have 2 Holy Days of obligation. The Philippines has 3.
It's very interesting how it varies from place to place!
So interesting! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really useful information! Thank you.
We're so glad it was helpful, Margaret. Have a great week!
Thank you
You are very welcome :)
Thank you for sharing these! Though I grew up Catholic, most of these are things I've had to learn as an adult... Or I just didn't even know I needed to be aware of
You are very welcome! We are glad the video was helpful :)
Thanks for all these tips. I would list things like contacting a priest in my phone because when it's an emergency, you might not be thinking clearly. I would also keep original documents in a "red" container, so when you need to evacuate in an emergency (fire, flood, earthquake, blizzard) you grab one container and have ALL of your documents, religious and secular, with you.
Great ideas! Thanks for sharing :)
great video but just a note, some protestant bibles-the old king james for instance-has the total cannon too so I'd look for an imprimatur or a Catholic bishop's note.
Thanks for the tip! Good to know :)
Thank you for this. What do you do with non-Catholic bibles?
We usually donate them to a local Protestant charity that is happy to have them. Hope that helps!
Thank you. I'd just like to note that to access your Catholic records, you only need to go to the church _where you were baptized_. You have to contact them for proof of baptism in order to receive any later sacrament. The church where you had that later sacrament administered will then inform your baptismal church of the details, which will be added to their records. They can all be accessed in one place.
Great to know- thank you!
My parents were cradle Catholics, married in the church, and made sure we all got our CCD, sacrament preps, and went to Mass. They were founding members of their parish and were active members and financial supporters for many, many decades. But when my father was dying, we only got an answering machine. The pastor didn't return the call until two days after Pop had passed. It grieves me to this day that my father passed away without the benefits of the sacraments, but at least he had a funeral Mass. During the years my mother was widowed and she became increasingly home bound, the parish did nothing except send envelope and pledge packets. She was so disgusted that she insisted there be no services at all.
We are so sorry, Christine. It's hard to understand why things like this happen. We are praying for you and your family. May God bring you peace and healing.
What do you mean that your parents were founding members of your parish?
What are we supposed to do with the palms from Palm Sunday? I’ve never heard mention of bulk collections.
When I was a kid they collected them and used the ashes for ash Wednesday
There should be a way to return them to your priest in your parish prior to Ash Wednesday (beginning of Lent). If I recall correctly, they are burned by the priest, and it is those ashes that are used in the Ash Wednesday liturgy (cross on the forehead) - Feb 14 this year.
If you attend church regularly, ask the preist.
If you don’t attend regularly then next time you go just bring them with, go to father after mass and offer them to be used for ash Wednesday.
This is a good reminder to me as my church didnt ask for them this year.
We return ours to our parish each year to be burned as they are a sacramental. They use the ashes for Ash Wednesday. As a matter of fact, our priest just made the announcement its that time of year again. 😊
There are translations that include the deuterocanonical books such as I and II Maccabees that are not Catholic translations (such as the New English Bible). So I would recommend not using the BIG MAC method as the sole criteria. Also, if they have notes, you want to make sure they are authentically Catholic. So I would advise sticking to the Imprimatur.
Thanks for this information! We love that we are always learning more from our viewers. We get a lot of bibles donated to our church library (where we volunteer), so we will be on the watch for anything like the New English Bible.
A few years back I dropped the Host and panicked with a loud "OH NO!!". The Eucharistic Minister panicked. A guy behind said "Throw it away". I n a louder voice I said "We cant do that". Finally the Eucharistic Minister picked it up and consumed it.
Oh, my goodness! What a scene ( we're just going to ignore the throw it away part... yikes!). You kept your cool in the end and know what to do, though- good job!
Thanks@@catholicmomanddaughter
You need only ONE life skill. Get out of satan's church
I agree, people need to cease being of the world, Satan’s church.
