  • Test ride of a Genuine G400C at Flying Tiger Moto in Maplewood. Right now they're selling Enfields, Guzzis and scooters. Crazy mixed bag but I hope they stick around. Really nice people there.

    Bikes are certainly personal preference. I consider the G 400 an urban assault comfy cafe racer- not designed for high-speed long distance highway use. Happy safe riding 😎

    This has more hp than the SR400 (26hp vs. 23) and weighs less (353lbs wet vs 384).
    I have hit 90 mph on my '22 G400C and have the radar speeding ticket to prove it. :)

    What did the shop say about the Genuine G400C popping out of fifth gear? These are still sold in the USA. Some shops convert them to scrambler style motorcycles.

      The shop didn't say much about it. Seems like they were peddling the 400 because I think they also sold their scooters. Now they gave up all sales and just do repairs. Great shop overall.

    Are the new 2022 models any better?

    I got mine for 2,500 bucks with 3k miles on it. I've been happy learning on it and riding it up and down the parkway here in North Carolina but yeah nothing too special and the fuel hose blew off a while back. Also haven't ridden it beyond 50 mph and wouldn't want to take it on the highway.

    It’s only assembled in China it’s designed in Europe with Many parts from honda ( xr 400 engine w EFI) Incredibly entertaining bike to ride lotta power down low super comfortable Has that soft rumble feel to it. Only weighs 350 lbs wet!!!!!Yamaha Sr 400 doesn’t even have an electric start. Genuine imported these bikes with 30 upgrades for the American market. It’s a solid bike. In Europe it’s called the mash 400 you can look up reviews on that

      I enjoyed riding it. I believe I would pay a little more for a more quality product however.

      That bike is practically all metal. Merely assembled in Shinrey China. Its all mostly mostly Honda parts - shinrey was making parts for honda years back. All these Asian companies are related - I refuse to pay a huge premium just for the name. The Yamaha SR 400 is inferior yet they charge two grand more

      @@allans7281 totally understand. It's personal preference. I'd invest in a new RE Interceptor before the GSC. A 650-900cc cycle is better for my 200lb frame anyway.

    Good video! I was looking at this as a first bike, but is the lack of ABS something to worry about? Chinese made concerns me less, as I’ve heard they have put it together well, although with cheap switchgear etc.

      I thought the brakes worked well enough. It's not real fast so stopping didn't seem to be a problem. The biggest issue was higher in the gears as the trans wouldn't stay in 5th. As a first bike I'd get a Honda 500 (cb500 range) before the 400c. It's just made better and may be more reliable.

    • @danparker123
      @danparker123 4 года назад +3

      I wonder if the 2 year warranty would fix that. I checked out the cb500, but it doesn’t have the classic look I’m going for. Had my eye on the sr400 for a few years, but couldn’t get past the kick start only. For a brand new rider probably prone to stalling, I didn’t want that stress. It’s a beautiful bike though. Then this one came along, and I figured it might be the one, now I’m not so sure

      @@danparker123 This is a Honda design. It is built in China. Lots of good things are built there, from Honda GoldWings to iPhones. Genuine has a real talent for finding quality machines and standing behind them. For more information check out the Cleveland Moto videos and also reviews of the same bike in Europe as the Mash.All bikes should come with ABS. They do in Europe but our lawmakers don't care about our safety.

      @@professorcbx577 Popping out of 5th is an issue. However, I hadn't heard of this elsewhere, and I am following these bikes. Would like to see one of these run against an SR 400. RE Classic 350 coming here soon also.

    Honda CB400SS design circa 2002-2006.
    So the SR400 would pump this in a drag race? hehe

    • @professorcbx577
      @professorcbx577  4 года назад +2

      Ha! The Yamaha would stay in 5th gear so probably. Both look like proper motos it's just the reliability factor of the G400C is something I question.
