    I gotta hand it to Chevrolet for being the only American car company to consistently make good race cars, the C5-R, C6-R, GT2 ZR1 and C7-R are all awesome cars.

      @xp10199 GM didn't sponsor them.....until 2024 Corvette Racing was a factory team which meant full support from Chevrolet. Pratt and Miller run the racing team but as a factory team they had every resource available etc. via Chevrolet. Also, the cars come from Chevrolet, they were all pulled off the Chevrolet production line and sent to P&M to build. The sponsors were Mobil 1, Sirius and a few other small one's.

    There should be a stream of drivers eye's videos to chose from in any racing, that would be a massive add-on to coverage. Imagine LeMans24 with selectable drivers eye's views by pressing a button on your couch... wicked

They could also include the option for telemetry..Just allow the viewer to select what telemetry they want to see, car-telemetry (speed, g-force, etc), bio-telemetry (i.e. heart rate, blood pressure, respiration rate, etc), weather telemetry, etc. Makes it far more interesting and engaging for the viewer.

    • @waclosh
      @waclosh 11 лет назад

      I dont think GT cars have KERS of any kind on board. That is reserved to F1. And to be honest, I disdain KERS and active aero, since it is not purpose driven, it is just a way F1 marketing bosses desperate attempt to regain public attention.

    • @infinite1der
      @infinite1der 11 лет назад

      I didn't think they had KERS (or KERS-like system) either. But, on the back straight (on the lap in question), the dash display on the right-hand side shows the green bar dissipating with the universal "power" symbol showing. The speedometer shows a ~4-5 mph gain on the top speed as compared to his previous laps.

    • @TommyMilner
      @TommyMilner 10 лет назад +3

      I won't explain exactly what that was but it's absolutely not KERS or any kind of alternative energy release and definitely not 4-5mph faster because of it.

    • @infinite1der
      @infinite1der 10 лет назад

      ***** No worries. ;) I honestly figured the extra top-end was due to lack of traffic coming out of 8, through The Kink and into the 10-complex. Nice run, though!

      waclosh Well several P1 cars use that same sort of hybrid drive. The audi R18 e-tron, and the toyota TS030, and probably the new Porche P1 car. So yes the specific name, KERS, is reserved to F1, but the same sort of hybrid system is used in other race cars.

    Going too fast in slippery conditions is an obvious NO NO for any prototypes because their lighter weight will cause traction to immediately disappear at any turn and/or peak of an incline. Which is where GTs; especially Corvette, will annihilate PCs with control and speed at any given time.

      I think this is probably open practice. No one is running in full race pace it looks like. Also if it is one of the amateur drivers in the PC cars...often times, the pros in the GT cars are faster or as fast in the wet. At least from what I have seen through out the season.

    • @TommyMilner
      @TommyMilner 11 лет назад +48

      deggis4 The rain tires require a higher slip angle to work at their best so we will always be more sideways when we're going fast in the wet than in the dry. That will never go away. The TC helps when we overstep those boundaries slightly.

    • @rythegeneral511
      @rythegeneral511 10 лет назад +2

      Milner drove that car to the edge of its capability. You cannot compare sports car racing today to what it was in the past. The cars are faster, lighter and more responsive today. Without the TC and other electronics, we would not continue to push the boundaries of what is possible on a race track. F1 for example, is continuing to push the boundaries of physical speed around a track and as a result are basically pioneering technology that will eventually find its way into consumer cars(KERS, DRS, etc..all ending up in high end consumer super cars this year), however I must say, I didn't know the ALMS had rear view cameras with colored markers to represent when they were clear or had a car on their inside in real time! Very Cool! That will end up in consumer vehicles very soon, especially once the Car2Car communication gets pushed through the bureacratic red tape. Tommy, Hell of a drive sir.

    Was that some sort of KERS type electric assist being used on the back straight at 17:22?

      What's up Monty - Not KERS or any other kind of alternative energy release. There's nothing like that allowed in our class.

      I didn't think and hadn't seen any other evidence of it but I wasn't sure if any such R&D was allowed during the practice sessions. Thanks for the reply man, it was awesome seeing you guys run. Petit is the highlight of my racing year.

      It's necessary to avoid being completely blinded by the setting sun. Keep in mind that the camera is slightly higher on the helmet than driver's actual view point. He can see all he needs to.
