@@kennyboggs3676 great scene. It showed how unprepared everyone one was for him. Some of the dialogue could have been cheesy, his delivery had so much personality. Official, no BS answer is: Writer could not come up with a futuristic way to wipe that would not waste paper or water. He called up a buddy for some ideas, and he couldn't think of anything either. His buddy's wife had 3 seashells as decoration on the back of the toilet, so they came to the idea of just saying 3 seashells but never explaining it to make it a joke and a debate. Not as cool as one would expect, but they created a debate that goes to this day, "How do you use the 3 seashells?"
One thing that impressed me about this movie is that It broke the then almost mandatory 'Blade Runner look'. At the time most SF movies showed the future as some version of Ridley's 82 bleak distopia, always dark and raining. It was very predictable. Then along came Demolition Man and It had the audacity of doing something entirely different! Really enjoyed it.

Recently found an old DVD of "Demolition Man" in a second-hand shop and later watched it, recieved a little shock to hear "Pizza Hut" over "Taco Bell" as I'm used to the latter from the old VHS rental days. Pizza Hut.... pffft! Still an incredibly fun watch regardless of titles or food franchise names. Sly and Wesley bring it, and the supporting cast is wonderful.
Fun fact. Back in 2010 Wesley Snipes was having a little IRS problem. To solve it he challenged Joe Rogan to a MMA fight in the UFC. Rogan instantly accepted. Wesley backed out after finding out that Rogan was a very skillful martial artist with multiple black belts and MMA training. Wesley just thought Joe was a commentator for the UFC with a big mouth.
I first saw JR in News Radio. Next thing I know he's a serious dude with a Radio show. Kinda like seeing Henry Rollins in Jack Frost with Michael Keaton after last seeing him perform with Black Flag in Miami, in the 80s. Really different, and really cool. 😉
Minty, you spelled Pizza Hut wrong. You spelled it Pizza Hutt. Cool video. Imagine if Stallone and Arnold would have done this movie instead. Boy that would have been something considering they both were in their prime back then.
I mean it's in that same 90's mold for action movies and I like it, but compared to the Dredd movie it's like eating recycled food. For me Rob Schneider hurt that movie more then he helped.
Congratulations, at least 7 of these I had actually never heard before. It's a good thing we didn't get Lori Petty because Sandra Bullock is significantly superior. One fact you didn't mention, probably because everyone already knows it, is just how prophetic this movie was.
Actually, there were 3 companies - Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC. The company was Pepsico Restaurants Internaltional, then Tricon and lastly Yum Brands.

Also, my Australian VHS copy of Demolition Man had Taco Bell! (But i didn't see it at the cinema.) Denis Leary was brilliant in this also 🤣🤣
@@chiguy750 We know. He was not frozen at all. There HAVE been celebrities that have had their heads frozen (Ted Williams), but Disney wasn't one of them.
It was actually the older brother from Mr. Belvedere (Rob Stone) who was rumored to be Marilyn Manson. Led to many a much-heated convo in high school in the 90's.
I thought John Spartan 🚔 was a good character name. 1993. I also thought Sly S kept the black beret look for his 2010s Expendables films. Mercenary characters.

I love how you've got the Batman Forever soundtrack playing in the background. Like, I know Demo Man's score is similar, but they're almost indistinguishable.
A Brave New World is the influence of the movie. Written by Aldous Huxley, which Sandra Bullocks character was named after. "It's a brave new world out there, too bad you won't be a part of it" -Simon Phoenix

Proceeds to put his name up the wrong way round haha
😆
I don't remember what happened, Doc! I woke up with all these bruises, and a note on my shirt, that says "Wesley Snipes, was here.."
Well that's awkward. I guess that was before the Joe Rogan Experience, so maybe there just wasn't as much public knowledge about JR back then.
JR in addition to working as a comic 🎤 he often did security jobs, bouncer type posts.
Snipes has martial arts training as well though, so that's weird
Rogies has a legit Taekwondo record
I first saw JR in News Radio.
Next thing I know he's a serious dude with a Radio show.
Kinda like seeing Henry Rollins in Jack Frost with Michael Keaton after last seeing him perform with Black Flag in Miami, in the 80s.
Really different, and really cool. 😉
Minty, you spelled Pizza Hut wrong. You spelled it Pizza Hutt. Cool video. Imagine if Stallone and Arnold would have done this movie instead. Boy that would have been something considering they both were in their prime back then.
A classic 90's action movie.
Is it just me or is Mr. Minty obsessed with them Sea Shells. 🐚 🐚 😂😂.
This and Judge Dredd is my all time favorites!
_Which_ Judge Dredd? 😐
I also love Sylvesters Judge Dredd.
I mean it's in that same 90's mold for action movies and I like it, but compared to the Dredd movie it's like eating recycled food.
For me Rob Schneider hurt that movie more then he helped.
Are my all time favorites not is.
same here!
Congratulations, at least 7 of these I had actually never heard before. It's a good thing we didn't get Lori Petty because Sandra Bullock is significantly superior. One fact you didn't mention, probably because everyone already knows it, is just how prophetic this movie was.
Keep up the great work Minty!!
Lethal weapon 3 is from 1992
Close enough
@@davemustaki134 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lethal_Weapon_3
Actually, there were 3 companies - Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC. The company was Pepsico Restaurants Internaltional, then Tricon and lastly Yum Brands.
I caught that as well.
In which countries did KFC win the "franchise wars"? He was talking about this movie, not mentioning all the companies owned by Yum Brands.
At least Taco Bell was good back then 😂😂😂 adorable too
Thanks as Always Minty! 👍 Have a Great Weekend Everyone wherever You may be! 👋
We’re not that far from 2032 and so far the world is looking more like this movie than back to the future’s 2015
8 years away from 2032, 31 years from 1993... Time is going by too fast these days lol
Except it is filthy and oppressive.
I recall in NZ when demolition man first came out they had Taco Bell not pizza hutt. Great video!
Great Video as always Minty - I know this is off topic but will you ever do a video for My Cousin Vinny??
Youte's?
Sandra Bullock never looked better
The song Demolition Man original was on the Ghosts in the Machine album by The Police. Grace did it afterwards.
Sandra Bullock in that uniform, though. Better than Miss Congeniality. IMHO
Absolutely man
Love the Fash ion.
She had asspants decades before literally every woman on earth started wearing them everyday.
Like Diane Lane in Judge Dredd :)
Dennis Leary's rant is still my favorite part
Fun Fact: I grew up knowing that Walt Disney was cryogenically frozen as well... only to find out a few years ago that this is one of those urban legends that somehow spread the world over WITHOUT the use of social media or the internet! Just like that myth that the other kid from Wonder Years is Marilyn Manson, who incidentally had his two lower ribs removed... for the purposes of yoga... all fake... allegedly. Also, my Australian VHS copy of Demolition Man had Taco Bell! (But i didn't see it at the cinema.) Denis Leary was brilliant in this also 🤣🤣
Supposedly only Walt’s head is cryogenically preserved. Who knows? 🤷♂️
@@chiguy750Disney died in 1966, the first human cryonic experiment was in 1967.
Walt Disney was cremated, so unless they have little scoops of frozen bone and ash from him stashed somewhere... :)
Still love this movie
A blast from my past!
"who is that?! John Spartan! is that you?! They'll let anyone into this century!"
The Panasonic 3DO version of the video game features additional scenes filmed specifically for the gane
Dude you need a microphone...
I know it's a reupload but I love when Minty does comic book movies. Hope there's more to come!
Nice one, Minty.
I absolutely love this movie. It's one of my favorite movies along with Predator and Terminator 2.
Minty, do 10 Things You Didn't Know About Death Race 2000, Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot, Driven 2001.
Such a good film!
Sylvester Stallone is brilliant as John Spartan and Wesley Snipes is brilliant as Simon Phoenix. 😀👍
I thought John Spartan 🚔 was a good character name. 1993. I also thought Sly S kept the black beret look for his 2010s Expendables films. Mercenary characters.
This movie was huge at the time, the hype was everywhere, it’s a guilty pleasure of mine.
John Spartan:
Is it cold 🥶 in here or is it just me?
Simon Phoenix: Good 😊 memory.
(Spartan vs. Phoenix fight)
They made you feel the hate that was shared between the two characters lol, even if it is a cheesy movie
When I was a kid my friends and I were obsessed with this movie and watched it every time it came on HBO. I'm sure if we all reunited 30 years later and watched it again, we'd still lose our minds.

This is such a great channel!
It’s such a good-bad you think it was from the 80s.
It’s a perfect action film from the 90s
Bloody excellent action romp. Snipes nailed it, but lets not forget the also stellar casting of greats Bob Gunton and Nigel Hawthorne 🙂
Rat burgers 😆 🍔
The accuracy of this movie is frightening
Our world is becoming like it.
Bruce Lee also had to slow down his movements so audiences could see what he was doing !
Here in UK it was Taco Bell, even tho Taco Bell wasn't a thing over here

I love how you've got the Batman Forever soundtrack playing in the background. Like, I know Demo Man's score is similar, but they're almost indistinguishable.
A Brave New World is the influence of the movie. Written by Aldous Huxley, which Sandra Bullocks character was named after.
"It's a brave new world out there, too bad you won't be a part of it" -Simon Phoenix
Lol Wesley’s denim dungarees always reminded of Chucky.
The restaurant thing blew my mind. I’m in New Zealand, and the only versions I ever watched growing up were the Taco Bell versions. I’ve still got a Taco Bell edit on VHS. A few years ago I bought a DVD copy, to have in the collection, and watched it for the first time a couple of months ago to show my son. Lo and behold it was the Pizza Hut version. Mind blown, and I can’t get over the difference
I absolutely LOVE Edgar Friendly's rant and have memorized it.
Fun Fact: Wesley Snipes improvised his taunting Spanish conversation with the jail officials before setting himself free. The production team found it funny and kept it in the final print.
Fun Theory: DM is as per recent analysts a non DC Batman movie, with Stallone being the Caped Crusader, Bullock being Robin and needless to mention Snipes being the clown prince of crime.
