*I also find Jack Nicholson to be the best Joker for 6 reasons:* *1. Nicholson's Joker was actually very funny.* _Nolan’s and DCEU’s Joker played by Heath Ledger and Jared Leto barely had a good sense of humor._ *2. Nicholson's Joker was incomparably closer to DC Comic's authentic comic book character.* _Nolan's and DCEU’s Joker was a completely new character, unrelated to the original in almost every aspect of his interpretation._ *3. Jack's Joker killed more people in this movie.* _So much for the other alleged "darker and scarier" Jokers._ *4. Jack Nicholson's Joker had a very interesting On-Screen Origin, and a motive for revenge **_(so did Batman)._* _Ledger and Leto’s Joker has nothing._ *5. Jack was a gleeful type of lunatic, closer to Schizophrenic, rather than Ledger's and Leto’s dark and violent type.* _Nicholson wins again._ *6. Finally, Jack Nicholson's Joker was classier, more stylish, he had better makeup, a more convincing smile, was an expert chemist, and his weapons were absolutely cooler compared to Nolan’s and DCEU’s Jokers.* _Just to be clear, Nicholson's origin of The Joker plays a more comic accurate version relating to Detective Comics #168 which first introduced the character. Like the comic, Jack Napier vanishes after falling into a vat of chemicals during his final heist to escape Batman resulting in disfigurement leading him to adopt the name "Joker", from the playing card figure he came to resemble. The other versions are just unnecessary modifications, usually ranging far away from the original story._

We have yet to see Matt Reeves's film but as for Nolan's trilogy it's good too and like Burton's movies they are legendary and awesome. I remember seeing Batman 1989 when I was 15 years old 30 years ago and I loved it which I still do and always will. I was getting ready for my freshman year of high school and my parents got me it for Christmas and I watched it after Christmas eve dinner, after Christmas Eve mass and many times since until the VHS pooped out Summer 2004 but I got the 2 DVD special edition in 2005 as well as Batman Returns and Batman Begins after I got off work the day they were released and I still have them and watch them and thoroughly love them to this day. I also like and have the Adam West show and 1966 movie and 90s Animated Series and animated movies with Conroy voicing Bats as well as a few of the ones such as Year 1 and Under The Redhood
This is why Michael Keaton will always be the perfect live-action Batman considering that he portrays him as a bad-ass superhero of the night! Add to the fact that he played him in this and Batman Returns makes him even more iconic and unforgettable! No actor can top him! Not even Christian Bale or Ben Affleck!
This is my favorite Batmobile design, I mean, I love the most of the other Batmobiles, but this one has a sense of style and I'm kinda getting tired of the Batmobile looking like tank.
As a child born in the mid 80s, this movie will forever be my favorite out of the Batman franchise (next to Batman Returns, The Dark Knight and Batman Begins).
I remember seeing this scene in a TV clip where it was longer. Nicholson asks "Where does he get those wonderful toys?" He pauses and then says to his goons "Don't just stand there. Go ask him." This version still feels like they cut it down to cram it in the movie.
Hands down one of the smartest money making decisions ever in the movie business to this day. The only other person who did something that smart was George Lucas in regards to the the merchandising for Star Wars.
@manofsteel33 Yep. He still makes a hefty chunk of change from this movie to this day thanks to any and all Joker merchandise from this film. He even made bank on the Hot Toys Joker figures based on his portrayal.
Michael Keaton jack Nicholson and hot Kim basinger......perfect cast. Maggie Gyllenhaa??? No offense but not the leading lady for a comic book based movie.
@@thezord6686 Actually the character that both of them play is loosely based on Rachel Caspian from Batman Year Two, which was when Batman ended up having to team up with his parent's killer Joe Chill to take on the Reaper, who was also loosely adapted for Mask of the Phantasm. The story also shows Batman using the same gun that killed his parents due to his belief at the time that using the same weapons that his enemies use might give him an edge over the Reaper. The story itself is not as good as Batman Year One but it's still worth a read IMO. It has some pretty good artwork from Todd MacFarlane before he worked on Spider Man and Spawn as well.
Every pedestrian in the background while the Joker's henchman are in cars shooting and chasing the batmobile: "Yeah, this is perfectly normal. This normally happens all the time in this city."
I noticed that too. The Batmobile engine sound is different as well as a few others. I also noticed they lightened up the night footage with the whole chase scene as well.
I love how the henchmen in the Joker cars are constantly randomly shooting at nothing. Like their shots aren’t even close to aiming at anything that could be considered a target. Now THAT shows dedication to being a public menace.
I can sort of empathize with people turning their noses up at the new sound mix...and trust me, I grew up with the movie too and I get it...but the new effects sound awesome to me. The new approach to the Batmobile makes it sound even MORE advanced and futuristic than it originally did. I like it. If it were up to me, viewers would at least have the option of switching between the two, that way everyone's happy.

*1. Nicholson's Joker was actually very funny.*
_Nolan’s and DCEU’s Joker played by Heath Ledger and Jared Leto barely had a good sense of humor._
*2. Nicholson's Joker was incomparably closer to DC Comic's authentic comic book character.*
_Nolan's and DCEU’s Joker was a completely new character, unrelated to the original in almost every aspect of his interpretation._
*3. Jack's Joker killed more people in this movie.*
_So much for the other alleged "darker and scarier" Jokers._
*4. Jack Nicholson's Joker had a very interesting On-Screen Origin, and a motive for revenge **_(so did Batman)._*
_Ledger and Leto’s Joker has nothing._
*5. Jack was a gleeful type of lunatic, closer to Schizophrenic, rather than Ledger's and Leto’s dark and violent type.*
_Nicholson wins again._
*6. Finally, Jack Nicholson's Joker was classier, more stylish, he had better makeup, a more convincing smile, was an expert chemist, and his weapons were absolutely cooler compared to Nolan’s and DCEU’s Jokers.*
_Just to be clear, Nicholson's origin of The Joker plays a more comic accurate version relating to Detective Comics #168 which first introduced the character.
You are right, good sir. Burton's Batman is formidable in every way.
Esteusuarioteparece *I ALSO THINK BATMAN HAS THE BEST BATMAN V JOKER SCENE AND MOVIE FINALE AS WELL.*
*Batman:* Excuse me. You ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight? _[Punches Joker knocking him against a bell and grabs him]_
*Batman:* I'm going to kill you!
*Joker:* You... IDIOT! You made me, remember? You dropped me into that vat of chemicals. That wasn't easy to get over, don't think that I didn't try!
*Batman:* I know you did. _[Punches Joker in the stomach; grabs him punching him again knocking him through a wall. Joker spits out a set of chattering teeth, retaliates and punches Batman’s body armor injuring his fingers.]_
*Joker:* Owww!
*Batman:* You killed my parents.
*Joker:* Wh-what? _[Spits out blood]_ What are you talking about?
*Batman:* I made you, you made me first.
*Joker:* Hey, bat-brain, I was a kid when I killed your parents. When I say "I made you" you gotta say "you made me." How childish can you get? _[puts on a pair of glasses]_ You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses, would you? Huh!? _[Batman knocks the him over the Cathedral's ledge. Vicki and Batman move to take a look, but the Joker grabs them and flips them over the side.]_
*Joker:* HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA... _[Joker looks at a gargoyle.]_ What are you laughing at? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA...
*Joker:* Here, let me lend you a hand. _[Vicki reaches up, grabs a fake hand that promptly falls off sending Vicki falling, and is quickly caught by Batman brought back to the ledge.]_
*Joker:* Ahahahah, "lend you a hand."
*Joker:* Ha Ha Ha Ha...OOOO, Oh they don't make 'em like they used to! Ha Ha...A HA HA HA HA Do they huh? Ha Ha Ha Ha _[Joker kicks out bricks off the ledge, weakening the structure Batman and Vicki are hanging onto]_
*Joker:* Hey Batsy...Bw ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...oooo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo!!!
_[Joker's goons looking for him.]_
*Joker Goon:* There he is, there right there.
*Joker:* _[The Joker goons throw the rope ladder down from the chopper; the Joker grabs it.]_ Well, it's time to retire...Feel free to drop in HA HA HA HA HA....
*Joker:* Sometimes I just kill myself! Ha Ha Ha Ha.
_[Having an Epiphany, Batman reaches for a weapon on his belt and fires a bola that attaches to both The Joker and to the gargoyle. The pressure refuses Joker to ascend the ladder]_*
*Joker Goon:* Come on! Come on!
_[The chopper breaks off the gargoyle attached to his leg causing Joker to loose his grip grapping onto the ladder rung right below the one he was holding. The Joker, being pulled down by the weight of the gargoyle, grabs the final rung until finally, Joker falls to his death. Batman grabs Vicki and tries to hoist both of them back up, but the Joker's weakening of the structure causes them to loose grip and plummet to the street. In free fall, Batman grabs Vicki and quickly fires a grappling hook, which attaches to the Cathedral, saving both Batman and Vicki. They swing in the spotlight, bruised and exhausted...but alive. The Police look over the dead Joker and Commissioner Gordon pulls out a small audio device that's playing a laughter.]_
*MOVIE FINALE*
*Gordon:* Our police have rounded up ALL the Joker's men. The reign of crime is over. Public Safety in Gotham City is no longer a laughing matter!
*Knox:* Hey Vale, aren't you covering this press conference?
*Viki:* No.
*Knox:* Well what about our Pulitzer Prize?...What about Us?...What about your picture of Batman?
_[Vicki kisses Knox on the cheek]_
*Viki:* Take care, Ale..
*Harvey Dent:* We've recieved a letter from Batman this morning. 'Please inform the citizens of Gotham, that Gotham City has earned their rest from crime...but if the forces of evil should rise again...to cast a shadow on the heart of the city...Call me.
*Knox:* Question...How do we call him?
*Gordon:* He gave us a signal! _[Gordon ignites the Bat-Signal; citizens look up to see a giant Bat painted across Gotham’s Sky. Vicki looks up spotting the Bat Signal and smiles...she turns to see Alfred waiting for her.]_
*Alfred:* I thought champagne would be in order ma'am. _[Alfred opens the passenger door as Vicki goes in the back of the car]_
*Viki:* Hi, Alfred.
*Alfred:* Mr. Wayne told me to tell you that he might be a little late.
*Viki:* _[already knowing Bruce is Batman, Vicki smiles]_ I'm not a bit surprised.
*_With that, Alfred and Vicki drive and depart down the street. As Danny Elfman's Batman finale theme song plays, we tilt up through the skyline of Gotham beyond the skyscrapers to see Batman standing on top of a building looking at the Bat-Signal projected in the night sky..._*
Aflecks batmobile is a mix between Keaton’s and bales
This is why Michael Keaton will always be the perfect live-action Batman considering that he portrays him as a bad-ass superhero of the night! Add to the fact that he played him in this and Batman Returns makes him even more iconic and unforgettable! No actor can top him! Not even Christian Bale or Ben Affleck!
Their all good, in their own respects.
Kim Tieu thats cap🧢🧢
Keaton had depth. All the other Batmen were cardboard figures.
This is my favorite Batmobile design, I mean, I love the most of the other Batmobiles, but this one has a sense of style and I'm kinda getting tired of the Batmobile looking like tank.
Perfectly said this is so sleek love it
Joker: Where does he get those wonderful toys?!!!! That was hilarious! Amazing acting by Jack Nicholason.
As a child born in the mid 80s, this movie will forever be my favorite out of the Batman franchise (next to Batman Returns, The Dark Knight and Batman Begins).
That entrance was the best entrance! Classic entrance and perfect timing.
0:19 idk just one of those *iconic* film moments
I remember seeing this scene in a TV clip where it was longer. Nicholson asks "Where does he get those wonderful toys?" He pauses and then says to his goons "Don't just stand there. Go ask him." This version still feels like they cut it down to cram it in the movie.
Yes I noticed that too. Althought It's a very long time ago, I can't remember seeing it in the cinema or on the homevideo released media.
I'm melting seriously the way how he yelled and screamed like that still cracks me up
Best Batman of all time
Always will be!
The BEST BATMAN.... ABSOLUTELY
Nicholson is STILL making money from this
How?
@@megajiem his contract included money from anything to do with the movie , toys, books, and a percentage of the profits including t.v reruns
Such a standout and iconic scene Batman s entrance the fact that joker vicki and Batman all meet for the first time
I love this film, Ray Liotta was asked to be the Joker and whilst he would have been good, I do think Jack suits this. I really enjoyed reviewing it.
My favorite Batmobile!
Michael Keaton jack Nicholson and hot Kim basinger......perfect cast. Maggie Gyllenhaa??? No offense but not the leading lady for a comic book based movie.
Ikr. I prefer Katie Holmes. And both of the character that they portray isn't in the comics. It's just purely Nolan's .
Maggie is one ugly mother.
Legolas Draco, I preferred Katie Holmes too. I didn’t like Maggie whatever’s her name at all. She’s alright, but I preferred Katie Holmes.
@black panther damn right she is, and that fuckn attitude she had in the movie made the scene where she gets her ass blown up a highlight
Has anyone ever noticed Keaton's lips is perfect for the Batman cowl?
Yes me 😅
Yes, please :)
And the eyes...
One of the best scenes ever 30 years on its still a classic
This and the belfry are the absolute best
Love the practical effects and stunts on this one. It still holds up even in 4K. (Except for the shields bit at the end.)
Rocksteady is the game studio that can make a batman 89 video game for us, we need that video game.
Can we write somebody and make it happen?
Buy the 89 batman DLC for now
definately
Tim Burton un genio! 🎖️
Michael Keaton siempre será Batman!👏🦇
Jack Nicholson un maestro de la locura, un gran Joker 👏👏👏🎭
My favorite part is Jack’s half annoyed half impressed tone
Love that jet sound at 1:04 to 1:15
It's sounds like breaking sound barrier
Jack's amazed face at 36 seconds gets me everytime lol
One of my favorite batman movies
Every pedestrian in the background while the Joker's henchman are in cars shooting and chasing the batmobile: "Yeah, this is perfectly normal. This normally happens all the time in this city."
The best batman..i ever watch..nice mask face...evrything....best car....the best...batman ever
Busting down through the glass to save the girl...what boy didn't have that fantasy haha that was epic
He's the Best Batman and Jack the best Joker and Prince made the Best Soundtrack all by himself
Danny Elfman made it
@@silverskull7669 but prince made some too
Lmao what a coincidence, I just watched this movie tonight on 4k
me 2!
I watched this over the weekend this past weekend and the weekend before.
Best entrance ever! It's funny how Jack nickelson joker is the only joker reference batman gadgets as toys in the movies
Off the bat (no pun intended), I notice several new sound effects dubbed in replacement of old.
I noticed that too. The Batmobile engine sound is different as well as a few others. I also noticed they lightened up the night footage with the whole chase scene as well.
The gunshots now pack a louder punch. Especially the shootout in the Axis factory.
@@jonnyshanon2103 The original gun sounds were your typical Hollywood gun shot sounds used for years dating back to westerns.
I love how the henchmen in the Joker cars are constantly randomly shooting at nothing. Like their shots aren’t even close to aiming at anything that could be considered a target. Now THAT shows dedication to being a public menace.
0:42 "Where does he get those wonderful toys?"
Get in the car!
@@johnbuck8399 which one??
@@dashiesbbgurl what a blonde moment ha
Still the best Batman, Joker and has the best wonderful toys :)
1:19 I love how the (homeless?) guy throws something at one of the goon's car!
0:42 I swear Bats throws something at the thugs here, presumably a smoke bomb, but they took it out of the movie
All the times I watched this and damn I never noticed that, nice find!
He does. You can here the glass smash sound effect. Then when they're running down the steps you can see the room is full of smoke.
Best Batmobile ever!
2:33 that was amazing for its time
Still is I love this movie
Truck driver in accident: MY CABBAGES
This is still my favorite batmobile out of all the films
I can sort of empathize with people turning their noses up at the new sound mix...and trust me, I grew up with the movie too and I get it...but the new effects sound awesome to me. The new approach to the Batmobile makes it sound even MORE advanced and futuristic than it originally did.
I like it.
If it were up to me, viewers would at least have the option of switching between the two, that way everyone's happy.
Agreed. Like the Halloween 1978 Blu-ray allows for 3 different types of sound, including the original Mono. It's awesome to have the choice.
That glass shatter is an Iconic moment
Who kept Replaying the splash in the beginning lol. 😂😂😂
Also that fake acting of pain was just as hilarious. 😂😂😂
I think this is still the coolest Batmobile.
0:43 By far, my favorite line from Joker in this, and that’s saying a lot given his dialogue.
I'm sure every man out in the world. Batman fan or not would love to have at least one of those wonderful toys 🤣🤣
Lol the guy at @1:20 is throwing something at one of Joker's cars because he could get hit by it a moment ago. Love that detail. Also, if everything else is wrong in this movie (definitely not!) the music is just awesome and so well synchronized with scenes!
I remember having a model batmobile and it had a plastic cover that looked like the shields. I don't know wtf happened to it. :(
Those new sound effects on the Batmobile sound Freaking Awesome!!!
Donny Baker I wonder what the Batwing sounds like
1:25 Goosebumps when I hear that engine.
1:23 I love the fake background scrolling. It's lighter there than it is in the exterior shots lol.
Did anyone miss this guy throwing something to the joker gangs? 1:19? What he was thinking!?!? jajaja
i love those flames in the batmobile,
it will make delicious popcorn 😁
