I was asked several years ago to testsing for Nightwish, I thought it was a joke. a friend of mine know some of the musicians in Nightwish.
And I'm just telling this because after listening to Floor and seeing her on stage, I don't think anyone can compare to her vocally in her genre.
Again, she's PERFECT!

There's something all Floor Jansen's fans are familiar with, it's called a floorgasm. You have experienced it at 21:51!
The goosebumps are officially called "Floorgasms". Realize that this band is a middle aged band. Floor is the youngest at 39 and both Marko and Troy are in their 50s. Wacken 2013 for Nightwish is probably their best concert ever. I've got a lot of performances on DVD and this is the best even passing the Pink Floyd "Pulse" concert. BTW, Tarja never sang those last two minutes in concert like Floor did.

The song is not about Tarja the first singer because it was written for her to sing, but Floor (3rd singer) made it her own. It’s Floor’s favorite song to sing. BTW Tarja is alive and well and still singing her ass off, just not with Nightwish. The song is either about a lost love that the survivor can’t get over or someone in love with another person who is oblivious to the fact. Pause all you like and comment. That’s what I’m here for. One suggestion: hit the 10 sec backup before resuming. 😄🤘
Skeeze Smith I completely disagree. I think this guy unwittingly hit the nail on the head. So many of Tuomas’s songs were about unanswered love. She is my Sin among many across the whole Nightwish back catalogue followed similar themes. Tuomas is well known to write about his life and current interests in thinly veiled obscurities. After Tarja left his writings took on that of a jilted lover. Bye Bye Beautiful among others. Tuomas may have stated publicly that there where no romantic interests between him and Tarja. While that may be true, I don’t think that was his intention and he gives it away through his writings. I can definitely see Tuomas writing a song like this as a subtle hint for Tarja to sing. There is no worse feeling being head over heels in love with someone and the other person seeing only as a good friend.

glad you’re getting into nightwish, this song was written for Tarja to sing, Tuomos takes into consideration what the vocalist can do with their voices when writing. Also Tarja didn’t pass away; she was kicked out basically. Floor is the most recent singer, she’s amazing
she told them several times she wanted to leave and her husband (argentinian guy) didn't want her in the tourbus with the guys AND he did not wamt her to perform in the states, too small audience too much effort. I can imagine that a sensitive composer as Tuomas is, he could not create music anymore in that tense atmosphere.
But Floor is more versatile than Tarja. She sings opera too (6 years training) classical, she sings raw, growls, screams and belts high notes like no one can. She is the best thing that could happen to Nightwish and visa versa.

Floor Jansen* (Dutch) (current). * She is the vocalist you saw in this clip. She has a classical vocal background education and can sing any style she likes from jazz to opera high to growling low. Believe me when i tell you you have not even scratched the surface yet of what she's capable of.
The clip was shot a few months after Floor jointed the band right in the middle of their US leg of the world tour. They asked her to join after tensions between the previous (Anette) vocalist and the rest of the band had rissen so high that they fired her. With close to a year still to go to complete the tour, and their next concert planned 2 day later they, needed a replacement fast. They called Floor because she had toured with them when she was part of the support bands"After Forever" and later "Revamp" on several occasions and they were quiet impressed by her vocals (who would not be?). She only had 2 days, including a flight from the Netherlands to the US, to learn the setlist and only had one rehearsal with the band a couple of hours before her first show and nailed it. Since they were making a documentary about the world-tour a lot of what happened was recorded. As a next song to take a look at i would recommend their masterpiece "The poet and the pendulum" live at Wembley. 7:47 LOL Tarja didn't pass away! And it's not meant for her because she sang it too when she was in the band. She just left the band in 2005. Tarja was the first singer of the band, then Anette, and now Floor is the third.

It's not a ghost as in "someone died." It's a "ghost love," the spectre of something which might have been, but ultimately wasn't. This is perhaps the combination of a lament and celebration of that love. It's also important to know that the keyboardist composes almost all the music and lyrics, the singer is only conveying his creation, so these lyrics are first person for her.
Good reaction, I liked how you also acknoledged the lyrics and interpreted them. Here is my take on it:
Because Tuomas writes and composes most of the songs, I understand them from his perspective: The siren that came to him and brought him a child that was reborn could be his former singer Tarja for whom he wrote this and who also has performed it. More likely though it could be a metaphor for his inspiration, the ghost of art itself that brings him the "child" meaning his brainchild, another piece of music. The angel on whose shoulders he sings is the godess of Art itself, who doesn't care what kind of art will be, it is everything. When one imagines what it means for him to have to produce again and again one can only think how exhausted he could be sometimes, so when he loses "the path before me" it can be that he sometimes doesn't know where to take his music next, so he will look back on what was before and find trust in it. Look how the music of Nightwish is in constant flow, every album is different, has another topic but still it is always the very special music of Tuomas, recognizable always and everywhere. I think he is a true genius.

This song was written for Tarja, which remains in good health, has an awesome solo career and is still smoking hot. Floor Jansen is a stage monster perhaps only comparable to Freddy Mercury. Um abraço de Lisboa.

The goose bumps are normal when she sings, after that when you hear her your eyes start watering. Any of the song from the 2013 concert is mindblowing and none of them sound alike. And each song is a journey.

Great reaction to my favorite new band for me. Discovered 2 years ago and love watching new people enjoy as much as I do.
From what I have read and heard in interviews there have NEVER been any kind of romance between Tuomas and Tarja. They are however child-hood friends and grew up together and formed this band together. And this song as someone mentioned was written for Tarja to sing. She was "fired" due to differences between her and the rest of the band.

I think the song is about someone who is leaving a relationship and knows full well they will go back and it will end badly. Just my take. That is a stage prop around the keyboards. Now you understand why Nightwish is best in a live performance. As you stated. "Anyone can sound good in a studio environment", but can they do justice to the song live? I understand your comment about not being the type of song you would listen to in your car or play often. Some of their compositions are so epic it is like listening to a play or musical story. However, performed live is such a special experience. Great reaction my friend. Floor is simply amazing. I feel she is the best female rock singer on the planet. Tarja is still very much alive but from what ive come to understand there are differing views on what caused them to fire her. The bands side is Tarja changed once she got married, they wrote her a letter. Tarja says she is still confused because she didnt see the changes they spoke of. To be fair though, most people dont usually see the change in themselves if there is one. After her departure they brought in Annette, not really sure of the story with her or what happened but I know she got sick during their tour in 2012 and they pulled in a couple girls from Kamelot to fill in for her, literally last second before a show the fans had already entered the venue. After that they brought in Floor Jansen and well..needless to say once Floor entered, they werent gonna give her up. She is just to perfect for NW. Ghost Love Score is not about Tarja. I read something from a fan written about 5 years ago. Ghost Love Score and another song called Angels Fall First were written by Tuomas (keyboardist, composer, etc) for his one and only love who passed away.

Welcome down the rabbit hole. :) When this was recorded Floor had been the bands replacement singer for about 10 months during their world tour. This is at the end of that tour, they did two more festivals after Wacken.

Floor Jansen's voice is beautiful, he also has a classic bachelor's degree,,, (he has solo videos where he sings a classic song) but when combined with rock music, it's very special
Floor Jansen is amazing and very versatile, you should take a dive into her performances on the Beste Zangers show where she also did the epic Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort, the actual artist that played the Dutch Phantom.
Great reaction. This song is old enough to have been sung by Tarja but they do have a song about the split The Poet and the Pendulum. I think they just released an official live for that as well that you should check out. Even has the lyrics as subtitles which is good to have.

Foi despedida em 2005 logo a seguir ao último concerto do tour "End of an Era".
Tem uma carreira a solo muito boa.
Quem escreve 90% das músicas é o teclista Tuomas, é um génio.
Ele escreveu uma música sobre aquilo que passou após o despedimento da Tarja, chama-se "The Poet and the Pendulum" pra mim a melhor música de sempre, uma montanha russa de emoções.
Basicamente ele mata-se na música para não o fazer na vida real.
Como líder da banda o Tuomas foi quem mais sofreu com as críticas ao despedimento da Tarja, até o primeiro ministro falou sobre o assunto.
A música está dividida em 5 partes e na versão original a vocalista é a sueca Annette Olzon que substitui a Tarja, mas a melhor versão que deves reagir sem sombra para dúvidas, é a versão ao vivo em Wembley com a Floor.
A música tem 14 minutos e é a segunda mais longa da banda só superada por "The Greatest Show on Earth" que tem 23 minutos e é também uma obra épica.

Well, if you really, and I mean really want to hear what Floor can do, then there is only one way - hear her studio AND acoustic. And that is possible.
The song "How is the Heart" is from their new album, released late in 2019 - and Floor ard Troy did a promotion tour, where they played it acoustic - and its legendary already although it was was performed this spring at: Planet Rock Radio - How is the Heart. Floor's voice techniques in this song are literally out of the this world - it's simply not possible. You will have to do a double, starting with the studio version - and then do the acoustic one - to really see how Floor is able to enhance a studio version, when she is stripped for any electronics.
There are nobody like Floor in this Galaxy - that is singing 🤘🤘🤘

You are almost correct. Initially it seems to be indeed about a lost love for Tarja, but he never confirmed that himself. (Tarja sang this song on their studio album and later also on her farewell concert). So that's very unbelievable. Could it mean something else too? I think so. The oldest songs have many religious themes, today the focus is on science and astronomy.
(Source lyrics from: Gethsemane, The Carpenter, 'The Poet and the Pendulum'. Finally his complete switch to the opposite: Darwin's 'The Greatest Show on Earth', and at their new album: 'Human in Nature': Schoemaker, Music, and Tribal. In between songs where you can feel his doubts: Weak Fantasy, Yours is an Empty Hope.
So I think this song is a switch between Tuomas' (keyboards) past (loss of past fixes) and his future. Not longer being able to reconcile Bible story and science. He did turned from his former love for a Creator God to belief into Darwin's Evolution Theory. His discovery that what he grew up with (at least for him) in fact no longer existed. He has lost the love of his youth, and now that he has lost his fastness he must rediscover himself. Has to be reborn to be open to a new passion again, so he lets himself be guided by his longing for what he thinks is permanent, his ghost of thoughts, his prince on the white horse. The siren choir indeed sings a semi holy chorus, making it his new religion.

7:57 Tarja did not pass away (fortunately), but the she and the band separated. Tarja still performs today.
Tarja was replaced by Annette, and Annette was replaced by Floor.
And I think Floor has been a blessing for Tuomas.
