In this exercise video Meredith is guiding you through an advanced, full body workout using dumbbells for added resistance and optional ankle weights.
Using light weight dumbbells to add resistance to your exercise is a great way to build strength and balance. The addition of ankle weights also is an added challenge and can help build up your lower body as well. This exercise incorporates both standing and seated movements set to timed periods of work and rest. 45 seconds of work, 15 seconds of rest in between.
This is and advanced routine so be sure to preview the workout before beginning. Also be sure to only do movements that you are comfortable with and that don't cause any pain or discomfort. Take water breaks when you need to and have a great workout!

Thank you so much Meredith. I try to follow along with you on your advanced workouts at least 3 times a week.
I am a 65 year old retiree from Perth Western Australia.
Good for you doing these 3 times a week. It keeps you strong. 💪
Way to go! I am so happy you enjoy the workouts! Keep up the great work in Perth, and remember I am here for you!
Oh, Meredith, I appreciate you so much. I am a 70 year old runner who retired from running in April, and was looking to put more emphasis on strength training. I am doing fast walking (with about 10% jogging) outside when the weather permits 2-3 days per week, and trying to do your videos 2 days/week. I have two that I use (one 46 minutes, and one 52 HIIT style) and this is a great one to add to the rotation. I did learn that I need to step down. my weights for those seated side flies! Yikes! I went straight to your advanced videos because I was in good shape for 70, and am slowly stepping up the weights as the months progress. One question: can you recommend one of your videos for cardio only for days when winter weather keeps me from my walk? I would like it be an hour or so. I must tell you that I tried another channel for low impact cardio this week (Body Project?) and was almost driven mad by the constant stream of new-age, self-affirming drivel coming out of the mouth of the man. Somehow you strike the exact right formula of encouragement, reminders, and explanations without resorting to trying to brain-wash me, and I love you for it! I have recommended this channel to numerous friends.
Hello, and thank you so much for the comment! I am so happy you are doing more strength training along with your cardio...way to go! Here are a couple cardios you might enjoy: ruclips.net/video/ECfZbvJwfsY/видео.html

@@SeniorFitnessWithMeredithhi Meredith! Did this workout this morning alternating my 5 and 8 pound weights-wow quite a workout but I made it. Doing 50 minutes is tough for me but figured I could do it occasionally to keep myself challenged. So thanks and best wishes with Rosa!
I love how you describe the muscles being worked and the purpose of each movement. Great workout!
I appreciate that, thank you!
I made it to 40 minutes this first time. Looking forward to improving my endurance. Thanks!

Last workout 2023. Look forward to many more workouts in 2024. Happy New Year, Meredith🇬🇧❤️
Many more to come!! Thank you! Happy New Year!
I didn’t think those side steps with rotator cuff move would ever stop feeling impossible , but now even with slightly heavier weight they are still challenging, but don’t feel impossible to complete !! So I am a witness that even at 70 one can improve strength with practice. Thanks for this workout.
Love to hear this, way to go!! Keep me posted on your progress!
This was great. As an a senior who has been working out for years I have found most workouts are way too easy and not challenging. Not this one. Saved as a favorite to use regularly.
You're so welcome! I’m so glad you enjoyed it, and the challenge!
Great workout! Great knowledge!!!

Thank you Florinda in Argentina!
What a great way to start the new year…modified a little but I loved this workout!
Glad you liked it!!
Great workout, I did have to pause and separate some moves, but got it done! Thx
Way to go! Thank you!
This was great, I’m beat. What do you consider heavy weights for 74 yr old who has been using weights for years. Thanks Love your workouts.
It is a tough one! I can’t really say what are “heavy” weights as each person is so different. I appreciate your support!!
I’ve been searching for a good all around weight training workout and this one was great! I love that it is timed because I tend to move a bit slower and don’t like sacrificing my form. What pound dumbbells were you using?
I am so glad you enjoy it! I am using 10lb dumbbells in this workout.
Meredith, what can I do instead of deadlifts?
Hi! You can do hamstring curls...bending at the knee, bringing the foot towards the bottom, flexing the foot to engage the hamstring. Alternate or do just one side for 12, then switch to the other.
@@SeniorFitnessWithMeredith thank you!
That is not my name, not sure that got there.
