one of the single greatest pieces of music ever written.. i have heard this song a million times and still get goosebumps.. i could hear it a million more, (and probably will..), and still get goosebumps..

Perry's pupils are as big as the black spots on the peacock feathers he was wearing in his hair. There is so much passion towards the end of this performance it brings tears to my eyes! I grew up with Janes and used to listen to "Ritual de lo Habitual" when I was riding my bike at 5am delivering newspapers on cassette with my walkman, it was otherworldly.
Drugs don’t work, after some time. This was the “relapse” tour aptly named. Dave and Perry had relapsed on heroin. Still in the honeymoon phase where it’s working and this performance is sublime. Flea was traumatized by the hard drugs…. Peppers muse was sobriety. Jane’s muse was h and c.
@@ExcitedAnacondaSnake-hg8ec I'm sure I read Perry was mainly into crack around this, time but surely he wasn't fueled by crack here,? He would keep disappearing behind the curtain for blast to maintain himself! Meth?
Possibly one of the greatest shows of all time by anyone. Perfect sets, perfect crowd, perfect vibe, perfect night...Last minute change of Halloween plans, friend called and asked if I wanted to see Jane's Addiction at the Hammerstein for "Some MTV event"..."Oh hell yes, " said I, jumped the train and within one hour we had liftoff. Dynamite band live.
Did you know that Julian Casablancas and Nikolai Fraiture of (The Strokes) were there too? There's even a random vid clip of them coming out saying the show was fantastic.
Was there too. I forgot about Perry’s crazy/awesome look for this Halloween show. My buddy got a crappy bootleg of this show. This video has great audio. Stereo sound, so I’m guessing came off the soundboard.

Yes, no one really touches Perry live, his voice is saw raw and I love to hear him always on the edge on his vocal chords, sounds so good, one of if not the only lead singer where I live his voice is different and maybe better is that is has a special energy not found in the studio and kicks your f#&king ass live.
@@jeffdeprey6279 his voice isnt anywhere near as good as this around 90/91 , i heard he struggled on heroin and it closed up his vocal cords , was doing lots of crack around this time and it obviously worked!
This song is such an emotional piece. I listened to it while walking to a friends funeral in the winter. It will always be personal to me, thanks Perry & Co but sorry for your loss.
Amazing song! The lyrics are sad as they draw a parallel between the overdose death of Perry's friend Xiola Bleu, and the suicide of his mother when he was very young: "Will you say hello to my ma? Will you pay a visit to her? She was an artist just as you were I'd have introduced you to her... She was unhappy just as you were unhappy just as you were"
I used to think 3 days was their best song but i think this just edges it .. Not the studio version which is lightweight compared to this ... Perrys vocals here different level passion than the studio version
This song and video is amazing!! They are human and not human at the same time! It moves through almost every emotion minus hate. Love, agression, passion, sadness, happiness. Very moving. That's the great thing about Jane's- the songs transcend you to wonderful places.
I love Perrys babbling in the middle of the song he gives me goosebumps and even though its often just "have a good time everyone" he fills me with joy and hope to be weird :-)
This is some good rock and roll! Perry looks like he is tripping hard, amazing live version! Flea adds the perfect touch to this song. Unhappy just as you were!
I always wondered who this song was about and I just found out on another site, it's about xiola blue's accidental overdose and subsequent death who was Perry Farrels lover at some point, in the final verse he's asking her to pay a visit to his mother (who committed suicide) in heaven. I also found out the guitarist lost his mother when her boyfriend murdered her. Also, this song and at least the song 3 days were written well before the release of Nothing's Shocking. I found all this out in the comments section in the other feed, as someone pointed out, no wonder they did so much heroin. Very sad, but a fantastic band I was lucky enough to catch twice in Bristol in the UK in very small venues, superb on both occasions.
I remember living in Santa Barbara, CA in 1998 and staying at a friends house in the summer with the windows open. I awoke at 3:30am to hear a car outside playing the part of this song at 3:30 and it blew my mind as Jane's was at the time and still is my all time favorite and this song meant so much to me.
Beautiful piece of poetry, hybrid with the perfect song composition structure for it's perspective. Perry's performance is one for the ages. Such incredible intensity.
