I can't tell you how sad it makes me to watch a real rock band play in a real era, with real fans, having real fun, playing real instruments, with real talent, and real emotion, with no backing tracks and zero fucking phones. These days are gone, will never return.
I will never get over how much of a killer frontman Weiland was. Seriously that man was fire on the stage. Watching him perform is hypnotic. Top 10 of all time material.
One of the best live shows I've ever seen....and during this era I took all of these bands for granted because it never crossed my mind that it would ever end.

He was a fantastic entertainer and one of the greatest front men of all time for one of the most under rated bands of all time and here singing one of the most under rated songs of all time. Crackerman is one of my favorite STP songs and it never got the recognition it deserved.
One of the very few front men that sounds as good live as they do in the studio! RIP Scott! STP is my favorite band of all time, glad I grew up in this era of great music.
Dear God please play this at my funeral!!! The guitar parts are unreal. The bass is a ladder. And the drums chop broccoli. And then there's Scott. I am so thankful that I saw them live in their prime!
Hell , yeah my 2 favorite frontmen. Scott was more energetic and more of a showman but Layne was an unbelievable live performer vocally. People said he was louder then the speakers at shows if you were up front or on stage. The emotion Layne conveyed through his voice was undeniable too. You could hear and feel the hurt and pain he mentally was going through.
Definitely on top of their game here....I am still pissed at Scott, his death was hard on me....of all the lead singers that we lost Scott was definitely head and shoulders above the rest!!
Long comment follows: this is Scott Weiland at his peak - the energy here is incredible. He had more guts, charisma, personality, and demons then any 3 people in rock. And he's never really gotten the credit he deserved for everything he did, like fronting TWO supergroups (he actually wanted to perform with Velvet revolver AND STP too at one point), making more amazing songs with STP than ANY band of the '90's. And how hard he fought his addictions (he went to rehab 13 times in 3 years in the late '90's) and somehow walked the tight-rope between addiction+death and sobriety (as one friend pointed out, he somehow never went too far in one direction or the other his whole adult life). And worst of all, i think it's sad since no one was surprised by his end. Nor has anyone spent a lot of time talking about him, at least not yet. Which might be because, as another friend said, "Kurt has gotten all the press; maybe it's just that the media likes a young corpse." Scott was a magnesium flare, no one burned brighter for longer, and it's a damn shame the greed-heads kept pushing him into performing for the money, long after he loved doing it anymore - when what he really needed just to stay alive, was to leave that whole scene, and go out to pasture and be with his kids and wife.
Yep. His ex wife blamed everybody for his money issues which kept him touring. Like he had a payroll, this thing and that thing. I promise you. It wasnt drugs that caused it. He was a rockstar. He would get free drugs. And i mean a few hundred a day dope habit.... Aint that bad. I do that and im a loser junkie. The coke and crack could cost though. But no it was his first divorce cost him alot.. Then he got with Mary. He paid for both their habits. Paid for his rehab 13 times her rehab 7 times , 6 times leavimg after a few days not getting a refund. She would do the " i want a divorce" then at the last minute say nevermind. And Scott would have to pay the lawyers. Then burning 80k of his clothes... Then actual divorce he had to pay and then he said to pay his bills and to pay child support and alimony he had to make 50k a month to cover it. Thats fucked. And nobody buys albums anymore so he had to tour all the time
Also during mid 90s.after Purple and Core STP was one of the biggest bands he did that side project The Magnificent Bastards and Mockingbird Girl for.Tank Girl Soundtrack was sooooo good. His solo stuff was really good. Then he briefly led another Super group that have an unreleased CD cause everyone was on different labels and couldnt decide how to split everytging. But Scott Weiland led The Wondergirls with singer and bass player from Orgy. Shannon Leto . jared brother from their band. And Ashley Hamilton child actor and Scott Weiland friend
Well said. I saw him 4 times, one with STP, once with Velvet Revolver and twice solo. The last time we saw him was his third to last show (in Detroit) before he died and he was a mess. If you had told me that night that he would have been dead in two weeks I would have not disagreed with you. And no one associated with the band seemed to care. It was sad. Which is a shame, as the other 3 shows I saw him, plus videos like this one, show you what a frontman he is. In my mind the best frontman of the grunge era, and maybe for the last 20-30 years. Totally charismatic plus a great voice. Such a shame he lost his battle - and that's what it was as he did make efforts to beat his demons. RIP; gone too soon.
