  • Ripping out the nearly 30 year old radiator out of my VR4 and sliding in a new aluminum Mishimoto radiator and fans. Also testing out some CXracing radiator pipes.

    FTI for guys still looking at these fans and radiator, the rads great however the slim fans dont push as much air as stock fans and shroud :)

    • @illusiveinu
      @illusiveinu  Год назад +1

      This is correct. I had to rewire mine to kick on automatically with ignition to help with cooling. Alot of people usually switch back to the stock fans.
      I am looking into Spal slim fans. I've heard alot of good things from them pushing big air.

      @@illusiveinu an another alternative alot of the run is to replace the slower fan for another AC fan, especially if there's upgraded turbos involved 15g,19t etc etc :)

      @Caliz19 once I'm done with paint the engine is getting built so I'm definitely going to need some better airflow through the radiator.

    Did you have any issues with th fans looking for a set up like yours. I have the 3sx dual core but it's too thick so I'm looking for either thinner fans or both thinner fans with radiator

    How did you wire up the low side fan using the stock harness since the stock has 4 wires 2 connectors

    This video is dope what adapters did you use on the AC condenser fan when connecting them?

      Had to look back at the video but it looks like I used bullet connectors.

      An organized tool box helps me stay focused while working. If i have to hunt for tools I can sometimes get side tracked on cleaning or even working on a different project :D

    I noticed that you have the vr4, I want to get a new cooling system would this work for the base n/a model

    • @illusiveinu
      @illusiveinu  2 года назад

      It should work for the DOHC non turbo version. I'm not 100% sure if it is a direct replacement for the SOHC engine. Mishimoto should be able to tell you if it will properly fit. If you have an automatic transmission you might need a exterior transmission cooler if it uses part of the radiator for transmission fluid cooling.

    hi! i also have bought the mishimoto fans but for the low sidee fan im not sure how to wire it since it has two connecters with 4 wires but the fan only came with 2. having trouble and just slapped it all together, i know my hi side works cause it was just butt connecting two wires. Thank you!

    Hello, hiw did you do with the fan connection, mine is a problem to install, im having heat issues when turning on the ac?

    • @illusiveinu
      @illusiveinu  3 года назад

      I wired them up the same as the stock fans using the stock harness plug. Did you use the stock fan resistor or maybe wired them backwards in polarity?

  • @kirkmoss6100
    @kirkmoss6100 3 года назад

    Did you have to cut the ac bolts?

    • @illusiveinu
      @illusiveinu  3 года назад +1

      I did not have to cut them. It is a very tight fit but if you slip a piece of card board over the bolts when lowering the radiator in you should be fine. Also use caution to not move the radiator forward or back until its bolted into place since they can still touch. Best advice I can give is go slow :)

    • @illusiveinu
      @illusiveinu  Год назад

      I've seen people online saying they used the stock fans on this radiator. Alot of people say they cool better then the slim fans.

      It's a Butane Torch. I couldn't find the exact same one as I have but Harborfreight sells one similar to it.

    • @illusiveinu
      @illusiveinu  3 года назад

      @@ianriley9760 it might be tricky since it has an open flame. I do believe Harborfreight sells hot air heat gun for about $10. If you have a hair dryer laying around that will also work good. Just be careful not to get too close or too hot so you don't accidentally burn paint.
