    In my opinion they have gotten a much better deal on the silver one.
    Cambelt is the least of the costs compared to what the red one needed doing earlier.

    A real shame about the oil leak spoiling the overall car, but rust wise its in the best condion I've seen for a long time on here Neil, all the best for the New Year.

    Interesting video. We have similar but a '96 2.0 Twin Spark. 26 years old. Heck of a lot of fun on a sensible budget and the engine note is so, so sweet. Run it on the right fuel and enjoy every trip.

    The silver one is head and shoulders above the red one, I think your customer did pretty well. There is a lot of over priced cars out there at the moment that need serious work to keep them running . I think He found one of the good ones!

    I think an unbelievably good deal compared to the red one. And at least with you doing the jobs the customer will know it's fit for the future. Hope he gets you to do some protection underneath to preserve what looks like an exceptionally good car.

    Seems good. Looks like a well looked after car, showing its age. Hence, if your customer gets the work done with you, he should have full confidence in it. Checked over and sorted, even if it does cost a little extra over his deal price. I'd have one!

    Nice one Neil
    I think your customer got a good deal on this silver Spyder.
    It's in better condition overall bodywise (especially for a 20 year old car) & the mechanical issues should be relatively easy to sort for an expert such as yourself.
    Happy New Year & please keep the YT videos coming🥂🎉

    I might be feel like this because I lost my GT to a bad sill repair (whole car burned down) but I feel like the oil leaks can be fixed with just seal changes, but a rusty underbody would be more trouble. I think the customer got a nice car for 3500.

    Fabulous investment. An Alfa specialist, the first day I took my Sud to work, put a flyer under a wiper. I phoned, and went to see them at an agreed time. 15 minutes of them rudely walking past me I would have waited an hour to say ‘You lot, are not touching my baby’. We rasped and snarled away. Man and Sud madly in love 😂

  • @weirbrook
    @weirbrook Год назад +2

    Considering it's 20 years old it doesn't look a bad car at all, and I'd be happy with my perches!!! Oil seals do degrade with time that's life, but still a lot left in this one 👍.

  • @markbennett9787
    @markbennett9787 Год назад +3

    Looks like a good investment. Your first assessment of the cam belt was that it was a good thing that it was being looked at as it was just about to give up , however I got the feeling that once you got it off it wasn’t as bad as you thought it would be. Anyhow it was presumably time for a change.

    Hello! i'm italian my name is diego i live in tuscany. I own a gtv 3.0 v6 24v year 2001. £5000 for this spider is pretty good!! there is some work to do though, then you should see the condition of the main bearings with almost 100,000 miles... those could be a problem.... underneath there is some rust on the suspension and arms... 👋

    An excellent car - regardless of it being an Alfa it's condition for a a car verging on being 23 years old is very good indeed. The money saved from not purchasing the red example can be used to bringing this car up to an extremely good standard.

    Neil Hello and Merry X-mass. I have a Spider exactly like the (silver) one on this video. It is an 1.8TS. The car is driven daily on nice open roads and it drives nice an well with the engine feeling strong. Now a couple of weeks ago my emissions card expired, so I was called to renew it. I went to the Greek equivalent of MOT center and I was told that the car failed the test due to high CO emissions and that I have to take the car at a garage for repairs. I took the car at a local garage and I had the injectors cleaned. Then I made an appointment with the official Alfa Romeo dealer in Athens. I drove there (about 80miles away) and the conclusion was that the car is running "rich" but they can do nothing about it because they don't have the right ECU scan tool. The "rich" verdict come from deposits at the exhaust tip and a weird smell of the exhaust gases both of which I confirm. This week i will be trying another Alfa Romeo Specialist. As I said the engine appears powerful enough and there are no warning lights on the dash. If it was you what would be the first thing to look at ? Thanks !

    I wouldnt be describing that car as 'ok' - It has obviously been very well cared for and appears in excellent condition - only the rad support remains to be done - the seals and cambelt are routine servicing
    Clearly a road and engine running test remain to sign it off as 'excellent' not yet a show car, but doesnt need much more love

    Cambelt is a service item and should be factored into the running cost of a vehicle.
    This looks to be a better deal than the red one, once the service work is done there is little else that needs doing as a matter of urgency.
    £3500 is still cheap money for a spider, I know it’s a 2.0 but they are still good engines and in many ways are better handling and cheaper to run than a Busso
