    I owned a 2002 916 spider from 2014 that I've recently sold . ALMOST got my money back . Great drivers car . Had to sell though as slowly the bills started coming in. Road tax £330 + classic car insurance of £140 on 4,000 mile a year ,twice yearly oil changes , paint fade and laquer peel , central locking and alarm probs , £400 every 3 years on timing belts and impellers , 30 mpg . The only car I've ever enjoyed washing and polishing . Problems during ownership: sticking rear brake lights (pedal fault) oil leaks , tight handbrake cable , uneven tyre wear , replacement bushes . LOVED IT .

    Great Job! I think an other check (I strongly raccomande it) is to verify the fuel tank, if there is rust inside You have to remouve it and ask to some very professional person to do a restoration with specific cleaninig and coating! Unfortunately is not so cheep... You can easy open the cover above the tank and have a look through the fuel pump hole.

    To close the soft top manually you must not completely hook to the hood. You should hook it just a few centimeters, then hook it to the windshield and then finish securing it to the hood.

    Did you in UK found the adequate way of testing and cleaning the Bosch direct fuel injectors on 2.0 jts?Here in Serbia I didnt still found good garage who is equiped to deal with them.I have about 60000 miles on clock,I dont get MCSF but I think they should be tested in near future.Think that Selenia Racing which I use is good for about 5000 myles at most.Then you could start hearing hidro tappets when you start and engine is cold.It disapears after the oil change

    Hi there, thanks for a great review! I have a 2005 156 JTS which was my Dad's. It's only done 18k miles from new. I'd be really interested to know where you stand on the great oil grade debate with the JTS. Book says 10w60 but I know a few specialists recommend 10w40 or 5w40. I'm currently trying 5w40 this winter and she does seem more lively. Trying to avoid camshaft wear. 😟

    • @ItaliaAutos
      @ItaliaAutos  5 лет назад

      Hi thanks s a pain as so many use different grades. I'd say 10w40 but you will also see other oils recommended.

      @@simonhendy199 I live in Serbia but I also think for your colder climate 10w 60 is too thick especialy during winter.But in summer 10w 60 is better because I think JTS with direct injection tends to be more hot than TS.Engine block is cast iron and not Aluminium which doesnt help in cooling it.Also when injectors start to be dirty you got bad spey patern of fuel and a lot of poluting the oil thining it so 10w 60 in summer for shure.

    • @ItaliaAutos

      as a daily driver yes, there also cheaper to repair, parts are cheaper and i personally think they handle better as less weight up front.

      Chinmoy Misra Hi mate, I would be just repeating what he has highlighted on top of it a Fiat and Italian, parts are probably hard to find and will then be expensive .....on a sensible note they are stunning to look at with a classic design. I’ve changed direction a little and picked up a 92 Eunos. Cheap parts, cheap to run, easy to work on and even tho they are underpowered they still great fun....
