Sweetie was absolutely adorable in this episode. You summed it up perfectly, “Stop! You’re going to give me a heart attack! (Don’t stop!)”. And Scootaloo’s comparison to swimming being like flying was so sad but it was so uplifting to see her having such a good time swimming around
I... I didnt even realize the whole staying with Mother or father subtext. It was so obvious. wow. That actually makes this episode kind of relatable.
You're right. Scootaloo does need to experience that feeling more. But not underwater. I don't care what people say, I want to see her in the air. For real this time.
Oh by the way, this is episode 175. I can't believe it's already been three years since we broke triple digits, and episode 200 is coming up next year. Can't wait.
I sorta get the feeling that Silverstream didn't actually choose to come back to Mount Aris before going to the Friendship School like Terramar says. She probably just flipped her lid over all the new things and by the time she'd started to calm down, it was off to friendship school. I dunno, I get the feeling she was barely above water before being shipped off. Probably because between herself and Skystar the recovery effort would have been murder.
Also yeah, Scootaloo's comment about flying hits like a mac truck. That really brings up the fact that she really might never fly.
I loved Terramar and Silverstream's parents. Really understanding. Now we know where Silverstream gets her pep from. Or rather, how she was allowed to keep it for so long. They probably just let her be herself, despite how wacko she can be. Terramar himself was a nice, calm griff with a very relatable conflict. The fact that the solution is so obvious, yet the show and characters don't belittle him for that is nice. Kids blow things out of proportion, family matters in particular. The fact that it's a simple solution shouldn't be a bad thing, it should be a positive. The easier the fix, the happier everyone is.
Sadly. I must give this episode a 0/10... as it did me a grievous wound... IT DIDN'T SHOW THE SEAPONY BABY PICTURES! I WANTED TO SEE! *wails and hugs Starlight until she vaporises me* Hehehehe. I joke. Loved this episode but... baby sea ponies! That little white and purple one from the movie was SO adorable. Makes me wonder why in the show, all the baby sea ponies have lighter underbellies, which are not present on the adults or movie.
Also if Tara Strong wants to win a screeching competition then she needs to get some lessons from Sean Schemmel.
I agree silverstream most likely caught up in all things she could do on surface now by time she may calmed she went to friendship school twilight created.

Still, I'm very much satisfied with what we got in this one: the Crusaders called by the Map _and_ turned into seaponies! =D
Twilight didn't seem all that fazed when the girls came in with their marks glowing. She must be used to unexpected summons by now, lol. And you're right, it's sweet seeing the CMCs just being the adorable kids that they are. =)
Good to see Mt. Aris and Seaquestria again, to see that there's still some good fellowship between both races (especially separated parents like Sky Beak and Ocean Flow) and to see Twilight get such a welcome from the hippogriffs and seaponies. Looks like things have been smoothed out between Her Studiousness and Her Sassiness after that happened with the Pearl. Really, it's nice to see Twilight get to enjoy herself, even if she insisted it was for research. XP You and I both wanna see Twi compete in that screeching competition. XD
I felt bad for Terramar, though. I know what it's like to worry about disappointing people no matter what I do, and since it had to do with which parent he wanted to live with...yeah. Thankfully, he doesn't _have_ to choose, and it's good that Sky Beak and Ocean Flow were so understanding once they knew what was wrong.
Seeing Sweetie Belle lose herself in the beauty of Harmonizing Heights was cute (and you and I had the same thought that Fluttershy would like it there =)), but it was nothing on Scootaloo getting to swim as a seapony. It's the first time the little sweetheart's done anything even close to flying unsupported, and hearing her say so went to my heartstrings...Makes me wish she could have a pearl-shard necklace of her own.
Terramar has become one of my new favorite side characters!
I can't wait to see all the amazing new characters that are gonna appear in this season.

Right after Crusaders of the Lost Mark, this is definitely my favorite CMC episode. Scootaloo’s reaction to swimming as a seapony was just too cute and also sad, I gotta agree with you there.

I have been waiting for the CMC's to get called by the map (And I know you have as well), so I was extremely happy by this. I know some people think that the map should be only call the mane six, but I have been on the firm believe that anyone that the mane six know could potentially be called. And since Starlight and Spike have been both been called, that furthers my belief, and now of course the CMC. And Scootaloo's line about the swimming being close to what flying probably feels like, that line got me. And as a episode it was a lot of fun. Really enjoyable, in my opinion.
My first experience with this episode has left me with nothing but pure enjoyment(a big smile and excitement) of what content it has provided! For the first map mission of the CMC, this one was pretty excellent in my opinion. Ever since the events of the movie was established, like going beyond the borders of Equestria, I’ve been looking forward to a map adventure that took place in some of the locations based on where the characters in the movie were from and I couldn’t have been more invested in the setting of this episode(Mnt. Aris/Seaquestria). On top of that, we got to learn more about the hippogriff’s/hippocampi like how they live and adapt to their environments on land and sea. Like Sweetie Belle, I admire the Harmonizing Heights(being beautiful and serene) however, I have a strong fascination for ocean life like Scootaloo does for Seaquestria. Speaking of which, the song was an instant favorite for me, really great especially since it’s sung by the CMC who have a good number of musical numbers! I just love this episode and what it focuses on, location, characters, plot, etc. Pretty much my favorite of S8, aside from “School Daze.” Another great reaction!

when i first watched this episode i thought it was gonna be about some kind of conflict between the hippogryphs and the seaponies, i'm glad they didn't go there tbh
When I guessed that this episode was an allegory for divorce, someone said I was reading too much into it. I think they weren't reading enough into it.

Sky Beak and Ocean Flow relationship is up to interpretation whether their still married but lived separately, divorced but are amicable exes are still friends even though their not together anymore or are still lovers but never got married.
Since Starlight's call (or Spike's) we've wondered who else the map would call? Go as far as siblings? Well, not only did it call the CMC, but called them Exceptionally further than Manehattan or Canterlot!
And I also loved the part about Scootaloo feeling like she was flying in the water. I almost feel as though it is a nod to The Cupcake Chronicles where Rainbow Dash had lost her wings, and Scootaloo mentions that swimming is like flying.
This is a great episode. It's nice to see the CMC getting called by the map. Terramar is great. The new stuff on the seaponies is interesting.
On the bright side of Scootaloo's flight predicament, she's merely too big for her wings. They'll grow in time. I imagine we'll probably even be seeing her flying by the time the series ends with how much characters change and progress.
This is my second favorite CMC episode, and my third favorite officially released episode.
Scoots got a new singing voice for this ep, too.

I said this before but scootaloo had a solo song when the whole cmc sing but not a solo like in this episode so she improved a lot since the season 1 episode show stoppers

I would love for one of the other Princesses to be called by the map, not just Twilight.
With most youtubers that I watch, I typically archive their videos to a file server I own to preserve their content. In case their channel ever gets taken down or the videos vanish (quite likely with Luffy's content). I dunno what changed but this entire seasons worth of Luffy videos I can't download. It just doesn't work, but it works on every other youtube channel.
For what it's worth, my completed reactions are always archived on my external hard drive.
So despite the technical issues with this season you're apparently having, it hopefully won't matter.

So Scootaloo had a lot of fun underwater ; Twilight only had one pink stripe on her tail fin while in the movie she had two stripes ; the little hippogriffs aren't wearing necklaces maybe they will when they get a little older ; and it looks like the hippogriffs can breathe on the surface in there sea pony forms which means there necklaces transforms them into amphibians. As far as I see it Terramar and Silver Stream should convince there auntie Queen Novo to allow Twilight and her friends to all of them have one of those necklaces. That way they could go to underwater adventures. I believe Queen Novo is willing to forgive Twilight. And Twilight should make copies of the necklaces for the cutie mark crusaders, Starlight, Trixie, Maud, Celestia, Luna, Cadence, Shining Armor, and for Zephyr Breeze. However I don't think Spike would like to be a puffer fish again. Twilight should bewitch Spike's necklace copy to transform him into a water dragon.
If Pinkie had a necklace I think she would transform herself and the cake twins into sea ponies. Pound and Pumpkin would look adorable as sea ponies and Mrs Cake would say: - But Pinkie it's too early for them to learn to swim.
If the Apple family would spend a weekend at the beach, Applejack and Apple Bloom would transform Big Mac and Granny Smith into sea ponies. Being a sea pony would improve Granny Smith's swimming skills and then the family could sing the SHOO BE DOO SHOO SHOO BE DOO song.
If there was a show and tell at Ponyville school the cutie mark crusaders would do there sea pony transformation in front of the class and the other students would be amazed. After school the students would go to Twilight's castle and ask her to make more copies just like when they wanted to spend time with her in Twilight time. Even Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon would want a necklace.
If Diamond Tiara's mother Spoiled Rich would see that her daughter could transform into a sea pony she would see this as a great opportunity to search for sunken treasure. So she would ask her to come along to the beach, transform both of them into sea ponies, and they go underwater. Spoiled might also be interested in sea pony jewelry. Filthy Rich would find her wife very sexy as a sea pony, so he would ask Rarity to make swimsuits for Spoiled and Diamond. I think if Filthy would go into the bedroom and see Spoiled and Diamond on the bed as sea ponies, and if Diamond asks him: - Care to join us father ?- he would blush.
If the Ponyville school students would wait for Cheerilee in the classroom while being transformed into sea ponies, and if Cheerilee would enter she would say: - Oh my! Did my classroom turned into an aquarium ? It seems.
Even Thunderlane's little brother Rumble should have a necklace. That way he could find out how good he is at swimming. For example if the Wonderbolts would have a picnic at the lake Rumble would pop up from the water and ask them if he could join. They allow him and Rumble would come out of the lake and crawl to them using his front legs. The Wonderbolts would gasp and Thunderlane would ask: - Little bro what happened to you ? And Rumble would say: - Well you told me to try other stuff not just flying, so now I'm finding out how good I am at swimming as a sea pony with this necklace. Even Rainbow Dash has one of these. Rainbow Dash: - Yes I do. Rumble: - And that's not all. He transforms back into a pony, goes to Spitfire, holds her hoof and transforms both of them into sea ponies, and Spitfire is amazed. Thunderlane says: - Thats amazing little bro !
Above all, an episode like this should be called: Sea ponies of Ponyville. And how about an episode where Captain Celaeno and her pirates return and ask the main 6 for help ? An epic pirate adventue would be great wouldn't it ?
Also I have mentioned Thunderlane's little brother Rumble. I wonder if we'll get an episode where the pegasus twin sisters Flitter and Cloudchaser are foalsitting for him ?

if i may say, i was a bit disappointed in Sweetie Belle... i mean she is all hyped over the valley, i get it she loved music, but she and do all that any time, how often are you giving the chance to feel like she is flying... the thing she wanted to do since season 1... i still loved the episode. just a small nit pick but i dont let it ruin it for me.

Since Novo has chosen to rule over the sea-based Hippogriffs. Who rules over the Hippogriffs on Mt.Eris
Terramar is Silverstream's brother, and Silverstream was mentioned to be Queen Novo's niece.
This makes Terramar the Queen's nephew, so Sky Beak is the Queen's brother.
And since he wears better armor and seemed to be leading the festivities,
it would appear that he's the one leading the Hippogriffs.
Makes sense to me :D

It's pretty cool how you understood all along that Terramar didn't NEED to choose a side. All this time, he could've been happy with the best of both worlds.

I think the difference is that Rainbow wasn't being fair by trying to play for both teams at the same time. She HAD to make a choice and was stalling it.
The point of this episode was that a choice didn't HAVE to be made, so Terramar shouldn't feel pressured to make one.
