- In this video I will be going through 5 of the largest freshwater fish in the world. There are many giant freshwater fish in the worlds rivers and lakes but what fish is the biggest freshwater fish in the world? This is actually a very hard question to answer as monster fish come in many different shapes and sizes and two fish from the same species can vary in size drastically from one another.
So in this video I will be going through 5 river monsters that are thought to be the largest freshwater fish in the world. I will be including the red tail catfish, the giant snakehead, the dorado, the Cuban gar and the large tooth sawfish in this episode.

The first giant fish on the list is the red tail catfish. Out of all the fish i have featured in this series so far the red tail catfish has to be the most popular fish in the aquarium trade. This river monster is a very hungry fish and feeds on a large variety of foods in the amazon river.
For our second monster fish we will be staying in south America as we have the dorado. The dorado is a member of the tetra family as is named the dorado for it's golden colouration. This river monster has large teeth and powerful jaws and is one of the many predatory fish in the amazon river.
For our next large fish we will move to pretty much all tropical and sub tropical coastal areas as we have the largetooth sawfish. Sawfish can survive in both fresh and salt water but normally spend there time in between both as they are normally found at river mouths or brackish areas. Most sawfish species are now critically endangered thanks to over fishing and habitat loss. Their long toothed rostrum also gets caught in fishing nets very easily.
For the next monster fish we will move over to south east asia as we have the giant snakehead. The giant snakehead is a apex predatory fish and feeds on a wide variety of prey including other fish and amphibians. Giant snakeheads also have a soft side as they are some of the best fish parents in the world.
For our final river monster we will be heading over to Cuba as we have the Cuban gar. The alligator gar is the largest species of gar but the Cuban gar comes in a close second. The Cuban gar is also the rarest species of gar only being found in Cuba and just like the alligator gar they have poisonous eggs to help to ward of predators.
What do you think the biggest freshwater fish in the world is?
Let me know down in the comments below?
Thanks for watching hope you enjoyed :) Животные
This channel is criminally underrated
Thanks i appreciate it :)
He's growing fast
IKR
Ikr!
Intro song please
This series is gonna keep going until it gets to tetras and I’m not complaining
My tired brain was imagining Tetrapods.
Well, the Goliath Tigerfish is a large tetra actually
I mean the Dorado is a tetra
I have a fishing bucket list and this man has grown it by 25 all by himself
Definitely add channa micropeltes to it. They're very satisfying to catch mainly the big ones
The giant snakehead is also said to eat their own fry but in fact, it just holds the fry in their mouths when they sense danger. When the danger is gone, they let the fry out again.
Another reason to call them good parents
I here they eat good ------ a plus for invasive fish.
That's why they take over whole bodies of water, they defend their young.most fish eat their young or lay eggs and forget about them.
In a few videos when rules finally devolve into chaos, you’ll feature the bull shark. I’m calling it.
Mans just predicted the future
I stumbled into this channel by chance one day and now I'm awaiting every new video by this channel. lol
I like the comparisons you make between size and weight to get an idea of the scale of these beasts, keep making awesome videos, you’re gonna be a huge channel in no time!
thanks Ray i really appreciate it :)
@@TsukiCove No problem mate, I couldn’t think of any big fish you haven’t covered, maybe a video on the largest members of a family of fish? e.g. knife fish: electric eel.
5 years later.
Finally covered all Freshwater Fish in the World. XD
My local pet store had a full-grown red tail in a pond. Every time I went there I'd spend hours watching him and he would always come up to me and let me pet him. They're such a beautiful and wonderful fish. They deserve to be treated so much better than they are.
You should do something like this but for the smallest freshwater fish
I am doing everything in my power to grow your channel, because this is one of the only channels that truly deserves to be huge very fast. You and The Fish Whisperer are my favorite ❤️
Imagine having a monster tank with rtc, golden dorado, giant snakehead and cuban gar ;)
Largest specimen of giant snakehead fish reported 7 feet in length
The golden Mahseer gets pretty big too
that I've been saying
Not more than humpback mahseer
@@Pearl_Gt both are good candidates for this list
i love this series
i would love to see a kaluga in this series :)
Thank you for your videos. They are beautifully shot and your narrative is superb -- very informative as well as directly stated. Much appreciated...
Thanks Edward I really appreciate it :)
Anyone see the resemblance between the sound Red tail catfish make and the sounds pillagers make in Minecraft?
hahaha close
Yeah.. its certainly close!
I was just about to say that
I love these series with top five fish keep it up!
The king has once again blessed us with another good vid
I'm not even into having aquariums (id like to get into it) but I just enjoy watching these videos because they're informative and entertaining
Extremely knowledgeable Tsuki👍
yeshh, my favorite sawfish is here on the list!! AS ALWAYS, beautiful video✌🏻
thanks man i appreciate it :)
Very underrated channel. I’m very glad I found you
this is a great saga!
This is the most underrated channel ever. Just keep waiting bro you will blow up.
Had two red tail catfish my dad got from petco or petsmart. They reached about 3ft before they died in the tank. Very cool fish.
I’ve been watching every single part of this brilliant series and I’ve been waiting for a certain fish. After 25 fish I can’t wait for you to talk about a fish that I personally love to catch. It’s been too long and I really need to suggest this fish. The sharp tooth catfish found in Southern Africa. I thank you for creating these videos as it brings a smile to my face every time I see you’ve posted another one.
thank you Jack i really appreciate it :) I have been thinking about including that fish but it's really hard to get images or footage of
@@TsukiCove if your struggling to get photos I’ve got plenty 😂 but thank you for replying man. Keep the grind going
Awesome videos bro .you are so good at it .keep going. All the best
Thanks i really appreciate it :) will do
love your content...👍👍👍
Great vid btw tsuki😁
thanks jeff :)
I love freshwater fish so much thinking thinking about them makes me cry :)
I like ur intro very relaxing
thanks I appreciate it :)
Yay I ordered some snakeheads into work
It would be nice if you talked about the tambaqui/tambacu in this series. They're related to the pacu and they can grow very large
Absolutely no clue what this channel is but this is interesting so subbed
should try making a series like this but with salt water species
i will do eventually :)
This channel is so entertaining
Your channel is so good to watch
What about the Short-tailed river stingray (Chucho de Rio), their doesn’t seem to be much information about them but they are a big chunky fresh water sting ray that can be found in the Rio Parana.
Fun fact for the swordsfish in 1669 Maximilian the second of Bavaria had one giant saw of these made into a massive ceremonial sword/art piece for himself
"This usually consists of smaller fish (shows Tiger Oscar)" I loved that detail
I find it interesting how many Catfish have been featured in this series. There's a lot more giant catfish then I realized
Snakeheads are awesome. I went bowfishing for Northern snakeheads in Maryland, and they get real big feasting on the bountiful wildlife in the swamps which they inhabit. If they weigh over 10 lbs we call them dragons, pretty fitting. Also, they taste great; they’ve got a meaty flavor for a fish, but the flesh is still soft, white and moist. 10/10 will eat again.
You keep forgetting the Loch Ness monster😁
haha i'll do better next time
Fun Fact: The Surgeon's Photo was a whale showing off it's dong.
Nice content
Another worth including is the Kaluga Sturgeon. Also sometimes claimed to be the largest in the world
Are you going to continue your biotope series? It would be interesting if you did specific rivers or reefs
Could you do a size chart comparing freshwater titans to saltwater titans?
The dorado is like a trout on steroids
Surely there can't be much more the only fish i can think of is the giant amazon wolf fish damn they are a beast
Hoplias Aimara (here in Brazil we call it Trairão) is the largest wolf fish specie and I think would be nice to see them in this serie
Nossa mano por algum motivo eu pensei q ele já tinha falado do trairão
good job tsuki
In part 6, dont forget to add fish like rohu and catla.. they are huge carps
nice videos
Just came back from fishing and saw this man has uploaded
Pog
That snakehead species is around the same weight class (20 kg) as electric eels (quite recently discovered to be multiple different species it seems), which grow over 2 meters.
Since you have already done a few catfish species, you need to feature the flathead or shovelhead catfish from North America. While it doesn't quite reach the same length of the blue cat, it is still an impressive fish.
The Red tail catfish is a one of the largest known catfish in the Amazon river with a friends like Kuma Kuma catfish, tiger shovelnose, Pleco, and more, this fish can reach length 180 cm Or the height of the cute and naughty Masha.
You can get Bull Sharks that are completely locked into Lake Nicaragua, I dunno if that would count? Also have a look of the River sharks of Australia/Papua New Guinea
yeah i think i will include the bull shark eventually but its almost impossible to get images or footage of the other river sharks unfortunately
Epic
Include Humpback Mahseer in next video the biggest was found was 183 CM and over 93 KG
ah yes red tail catfish and giant snake head two of my most favorite freshwater monster fish on earth
You oughta include one of the buffalo fish species. I think there’s records of around 120 pounds, don’t know which species though
First any nice to be beck in been awhile
Can you make a video about the smallest fish out there in the world?
I like how he showed the Cuban gar eating a Cuban cichlid
You probably won’t see this but can you do an episode about the Hudson River because it goes from a small stream to a river to brackish waters into the ocean
You should do a video on hummingbird biggest to smallest or most striking colors
1:41 Funny thing is, that stock footage is literally my local aquarium
3:26 they sometimes bite people if they get pissed and the person will bleed out pretty quickly, so stay clear of their mouths if you encounter one.
2:10 lmao sounds like a minecraft villager taking damage
I've been to the aquarium pictured at 1:42 ! Belle Isle in Detroit
How about the burbot (Lota lota)? That fish can grow pretty big.
7:34 I saw a few at a lotus flower garden and they were jumping and crawling everywhere...
2:06 it sounds like a minecraft animal lmao
Taimen would be a good one to have on here
Giant snake head can be found in Indonesia too, in Sumatra and Borneo.
Other monster fish here is Tapah or Wallago Catfish.
In 2019, a specimen with 1.7 m and 55kg was catched, and it's not the largest.
In 2017, three childs were attacked by this catfish. The bite mark on the feet had to be stitched.
It's also known to eat monkey.
yaay the red tail
The Longfin eel is also 1,8 meters long
Have you done anything with the Iridescent Shark /catfish real speed demons with voracious appetites. I lived in the Philippines for a while and once a week I would drop 20 guppies in. It would eat its fill and leave a few for the rest of the week. It would frenzy all by itself. They grow pretty big as well
Probably not a candidate for this series, but it would be cool if you could mention the bowfin in a video
After this series you should do largest saltwater fish
That's a lot of fish
That doggo gives you luck
You should consider great lakes king salmon, they can grow up to 60lbs and 50in in the great lakes
Can you make a video, about sturgeon only.
I'm interested in your intro music. Did you make that? 😁😁
The sawfishes size made my jaw drop
Alot of these seem really large... Ive seen Saw Sharks and they are no where near that size. And mabye you should have includd the Arapaima? Love your videos though.
Dam im late
These videos are good lol
I have to do it I'm sorry

i kept watching until my favourite giant snakehead yayy
the main countries it is in is : Indonesia , Thailand and Malaysia my country
sad that u didnt include that :>
its also found in taiwan and considered as invasive species
but thanks for still including it
You need to talk about the Oarfish
5 largest prehistoric freshwater fish next
dog is always cute
Fun facts about the giant snakehead.
In Malaysia and Indonesia large specimens are called "Penunggu" of their area, this word means Guardian
A group of otters will get out of the water when they see the red fryball, as the otters can be attacks and the young ones can be eaten. If the parent fish feel threaten
A story my grandpa told me when he caught his first giant snakehead he didnt know what it was as he lived in an estuary village and giant snakeheads are rare there
He didn't dare to eat it as he thought it was a river spirit and kept it as a pet until a Chinese person told him what it was. Then the fish got stolen by some kid and died
My favourite fish is the red tail catfish
Just watching this series while fishing in Animal Crossing New Leaf.
I always thought Cuban gar were the smallest gar
