Hey everyone, a few quick notes: 1: This is not my TeamSeas upload. That one is coming soon though! 2: Yes, I've already made a video covering snakes. That video, unfortunately, got copyright claimed and I had to remove a portion of it in order to keep the video up. I figured since that video was old anyway, I'd rather just remake it. So hopefully this one is way better, too! It's more than twice as long.
It’s said that the most OP snake was the highest ranking rattlesnake player, the legendary Rattlesnake Jake. He modified his damage and intimidation to the max by swapping out his rattle with a gatling gun. And instead opting for a hood like cobras, he switched out for a stylish cowboy hat, 10/10 aesthetics
that chameleon had huge teams of players helping to take the snake down, i dont think anyone coud have won that particular matchup. that says nothing about rattlesnake jake’s overall power and viability
@@misterdeer5261 Not only did that Chameleon also have a gun, but it had a large party helping it. Jake also respected the Chameleon enough to not kill it immediately.
Interestingly, venomous snake builds developed earlier in the meta than non-venomous builds! This means that many snake mains actually decided that trading out venom was overall a beneficial move. Wild, right? But I'm not going to call them wrong when Colubrid players are almost literally everywhere - clearly they're doing something right!
To be honest one of the limitations of these tier lists is that they seem primarily concerned with solo gameplay rather than the success of the group as a whole. The list seems inarguable with regards to Colubrids when it comes to that criteria, but considering how damned many of them there are it's obvious that when taking the success of the whole group into account these are far from low tier. Garter snakes (genus Thamnophis) are literally everywhere in north and central America. It's sort of hard to argue that this is an F-Tier build when it comes to overall success.
Unfortunately, in my experience, most snake players are incredibly toxic. I have almost never ran into a snake player that didn't mention my mother or low skill during a confrontation.
@@kobifisher9698 Ever watch a viper use its movable (in 2 dimensions) fangs to chopstick food animals into its mouth? A keyboard is not a problem for those.
That note at the beginning reads: “Hi, quick note: it was really difficult to find clips of exactly the right species of snake in a lot of these cases. Throughout the video, there will be a few clips where the animal depicted is not the exact animal being discussed, but is nonetheless illustrative of the point I’m making because it’s behaving in a similar way. These will be denoted in the bottom right corner when appropriate.”
Garter snakes do have the social skill though, something that the majority of snake builds lack. This grants them a good safety in numbers and does wonders paired with their Live Birth trait. Garter snakes also have a unique cold resistance trait which allows them to thrive in some rather absurdly out of place servers such as Canada.
I second that. Garter snakes do have social skills and are the most friendly of the nope noodle builds. It's pretty wicked to team up with S tier humans who do gardening. Meta is overrated to the enjoyment.
Although the garter snake supposedly carries rear fanged venom vipers like copperheads and most rattlesnakes live communally. This not only brings up their social meter but the extra protection of frontal fangs would bring them up a whole tier in my opinion.
14:59 The endlag on that is busted for such a high damage move. He hard whiffs and still has enough time to use it again before his opponent can even react.
"Snakes are the perfect example of a compact and streamlined yet still functional design. Tongue, teeth, venom, organs, bones, and movement capabilities all in less than half the space of the competition. Sleek, efficient, elegant. That’s what makes a snake a snake"
I think it’s strangely funny that most animals are instinctively trained to say “HELL N O” when they see anything remotely string-like in nature because snakes exist
Batesian Mimicry is weird tho, Kingsnake, especially Cal Kings etc, may have adapted like Green Tree Pythons/ Emerald Tree Boas convergent evolution, extremely similar but totally unrelated species and adaptations. There's banded snakes all over the world, with similar colors and patterns, to venemous and non venemous. It's an interesting discussion for sure.
Snakes have also been able to make a niche home for themselves in the pet servers having a relatively small but loyal following and also most players in these servers have more skins than players in the wild realms
Top tier snakes are insane. This one snake, I remember, he took down an entire weaponized nuclear battle mech, wasn't slowed down by his age at all either.
You forgot to mention the solid snake. Highly effective stealth tactics, with excellent cardboard camouflage, and adept at fighting in close or long range situations.
If you aren’t a competitive player and just want a fun, simple build with a lot of customization options, Ball Python with a human teammate is actually pretty great. The human’s intelligence stat often unlocks new skins and designs for their teammates, and it just so happens that the devs gave Ball Pythons a RIDICULOUS amount of customization options in terms of color and pattern. However, the ball python intelligence stat isn’t high enough to unlock new skins on its own (other than random loot boxes) so you do need a human player to help you out with it.
As a Wyoming resident I can confirm the effectiveness of the "rattle" as an intimidation move. Shit is terrifying when you hear it start up, especially because at first you usually can't figure out exactly where it is coming from.
Are we not going to talk about this game's incredible OST? The diversity of the sound track is amazing! Unfortunately, unless surrounded by human builds, you won't hear it often, but the ambiance in the game is great too.
Personally I'm not a huge fan of how the soundtrack is entirely gated behind in-game paywalls of some sort, and mostly only available to human players.
I feel brief credit is due to the Eastern Indigo snake, which is somewhat like a Kingsnake build, but much larger: they actually eat _Rattlesnakes._ when you can actually safely feast one not just a high tier build, but a high tier build with normally lethal venom, you’re probably a pretty solid build Also, they actually party up with the gopher tortoise during winter months in burrows, keeping one another warm
As much as I love the Indigo, I doubt it could be ranked as high as the Kingsnake build. Everyone I know that used to be an Indigo main switched over to something else due to their reliance on and the decrease of Gopher Tortoise mains. Kingsnakes also target and eat rattlesnakes, but the Indigo does deserve some credit for being able to take on the largest rattlesnake in the game, the Eastern Diamondback.
Fun fact: it's well known that snakes have to shed their skin, but their lack of limbs makes it incredibly difficult for them to do so. As a result, they have a period of time leading into a molt where they're incredibly itchy and will roll around on rocks or fallen logs to scratch themselves. I've encountered cottonmouths doing this while walking on nature trails, and it's honestly very funny. I really cannot overstate how much I don't recommend doing this and how bad of an idea it is, but they'll happily accept scratches from, say, a particularly long stick you found, and they'll lean into it because it feels nice. I, uh, wasn't a very smart kid when it came to wild animals.
Black mamba DoT tick rate needs to be nerfed for sure, but also I feel the king snake mimicking the coral snake color was over looked in their defensive or stealth stats, thats some top tier 4head strats right there. So much so that the smartest build in the game, ie humans, needed to make a rhyme to remember it is so effective.
Out of everyone that has tried to steal MJ’s moves, and use them to perfection, no one has ever come closer to being like Mike than the Black Mamba. He is undoubtedly the greatest “next Michael Jordan” of all time.
Dude, garter snakes are a meme class from the outset. They're not taking the game seriously, they're just keeping up that comically intense rivalry with that one subfaction of newts. Seems kind of unfair to have them in the tier list at all IMO.
@@KnoxCarbon Honestly, cheetahs are heavily underrated. They don't really do that much damage, but they can have favourable offensive stats against builds of similar size, like lone hyenas and leopards.
@@imyellowteeth4691 Yeah, sometimes I mistake him for Sam 'O' Nella. It has been years since he last posted, but he's studying in uni/college, so it's understandable.

This is pure gold! Conceptualizing evolution as "builds" is actually very clever. Anyone who's played (insert mmorpg) can connect to your metaphor. Well done!
I actually don't play mmo's but I definitely think using game terminology is clever and hilarious. He said the snakes were perfect for spawn killing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
He missed (skipped) a really really weak type of snake, Western blind snakes. About 30cm, diameter of a big earthworm, lives in loose soil, no eyes and eats ants and termites.
@@YTLoverSDab the sea snake, cobra, taipan, and mamba are all in the same family of snakes known as the elapids so ofc they’re all s-tier. Taipans however are actually quite shy which is why the aggressive mamba tops them even though their venom isn’t as strong as the taipan’s.
It’s funny how people view Australia.. a lot of time on their builds you mean that a few just specced into venom because they’re slower and not as powerful as the prey on the server? Ricky Mack photographs taipans from less than 2 feet away... black mumbas can strike up to 2/3rds of their body length in distance.. if he tried that with a mamba he’d be smoked..
Yeah, its awesome these are some of my inventions: you can find easter eggs to modify your genetic like the genetic reshuffle place of chernobyl You gain evolution points once every 10,000 years The game is separated into classes, from classes factions, from factions builds
I'd argue that snakes ARE meta defining because most mammals, humans included, have an instinctive, pathological fear of snakes, which triggers regardless of snake species.
Some studies have shown that Humans have buffs for dealing the snake build. More effective Color vision and a higher resistance to certain snake builds venom, particularly Cobra venom verses other primate builds. This was mentioned in an episode on EONS if IRC. EDIT also mentioned was an instinctual Reaction buff where humans automatically recognize the build and react.
king cobras aren't actually cobras -- they're actually more closely related to mambas -- meaning you accidentally left out one of the strongest snake builds
14:37 I've come back to watch this video a few times now, and I only just now realized that's the snake's tail. I always thought it was some kind of bug crawling on the snake, but I guess that's the entire point. Frickin' awesome!
Wtf, I just realized that, thanks for the nightmares I’m gonna have tonight, but seriously that’s crazy smart and horrifying to have a spider on its tail
The biggest issue with snakes is that they’re one of the most glass-cannony classes in the game. They have some of the worst passive defences and their usually low weight class doesn’t help.
King cobra deserves a place in the S tier. King cobra are actually not cobra (Naja), they are a different species/Genus (Ophiophagus hannah), they are called cobra because of the impressive hood. 1. Growing up to 20 feet. 2. Highest quantity of venom delivery. 3. Potent venom. Although not at the same level of inland taipans. 4. Largely immune to both cobra and viper venom. 5. Too big for quick players (mongoose). 6. Extremely smart and thinking animal. Avoids conflict with the players that have cheat code (humans).
One nasty advantage of the boomslang's slow acting venom is that it can be easily mistaken for a 'dry bite', which can lead to people not seeking medical attention until the deeply unpleasant effects kick in
Fun fact about the rattlensnake's "rattle" ability - their specialized rattle gear was added to the game AFTER the ability was. Quite a few other snakes use the ability without the specialized gear, moving leaves and stuff in the underbrush to act as a distraction - since the snake's weak point is in the same spot as its weapons, this acts as both a defensive move AND a feint for an offensive strike.
I want to add on to this there's a glitch with the specialized gear that interference from human players is causing permanent disabling of it for some rattlesnake players
The top tier snakes are so strong that human builds have a chance to receive a morale debuff from merely seeing a snake, thinking that the harmless garter snake is a top-tier venomous snake
You should see the bug that affects the feline class upon interaction with a Snek player model. The feline physics are turned off and they flip out of frame.
@@communistravenn6201 I don't want to ruin it for but i will, "Just Some Guy without a Mustache" is a BOT account which is made to reply in videos, its not an actual person. Same as "UwU" and other accounts that you see in many different kinds of videos. They are made in order to get subs and probably be sold to other people.
I think you should have talked about the Solid Snake. It's a really interesting build with high camouflage and a special ability called "explosives". I would have liked to know where it would place on this list.
Fun fact snakes are, in fact, meta defining in that it's theorized by psychologists that most humans fear of them is because they often lurk in the trees where our food and safety was in the past.
As someone who's lives in a forest I can confirm that we literally had almost all the trees in a 20 meter radius of our yard cut because any time something hit the roof our first thought was "Oh dear God please don't be a snake"
In fact, both geese and smaller felines figured out that imitating the sound of a snake was a great way to intimidate larger players. Of course, any player that's actually been attacked by a goose or a cat might avoid one that's hissing because "This Thing Hisses Before It Hurts You", not necessarily because "I Hear A Snake".
Don't forget that they're said to have led to humans gaining the Mortality debuff by baiting them into downloading malware. Though I guess most dataminers think that's just a creepypasta.
Tierzoo snubbing Australia hard here! You know Australia has some pretty OP snakes ay? King Brown, Inland Taipan, Eastern Brown, Fierce Snake, Yellow Belly Black Snake, The Brown porcelain reversal snake, The Gumtree Guppy Snake, The Koala Killer Snake
So OP they're lowkey meta defining. Multiple other factions have had to get anti-serpent perma feats and invest the hard-earned perk points to get them to Reaction tier in action cost. We may laugh at cats getting heart attacks over sudden cucumbers, but the serpents smirk. They know.
But taking into account that videos like this takes a ton of time, him going away for months is very understandable and wouldn't think he just left for me to say "he retuned" like he went on a vacation instead of making these videos.
This is a much more respectful video on the snake build and it’s unique advantages than your previous one, and I really appreciate that. Great vid TierZoo!
Another important thing is that humans are instinctively weary of snakes, so much so that they even came up with the dragon build based on the fear of snakes and crocodiles.
True. But dragon builds are human fantasy which means you can only be them with games inside the game. This means that only human builds have access to them and human build games are just way to simplistic to this one, as most of them have a protagonist gimmick meaning you only have access to one character and their powers are pretty much fixed, meaning you can’t spend evolution points on them
Dragon builds can take alot of other spiration too, from birds, to lions, even dogs in some cases. Dragons represent alot of humanity's fear of other species
I can see why some human players from different factions have long since their earliest inception into the game held the snake build as a legendary class. Some even created whole myths and lore for these meat noodles. Be proud that a whole player base went out to RP worshipping you like gods. Also is it just me or are the lower tier snakes cute? Sure they pounce and bite, but when they're sitting still, they look adorable.
They're definitely loveable. You wouldn't ordinarily think of snakes as a human support class but their emotional support buffs work really well for some players
@@olserknam I guess they've been more amalgamated with other fierce predators like big cats and raptors, creating a sort of hybrid called a dragon. That seems to be a more common form, but serpents tend to show up in old human text entries, like the Bible.
Back when my grandfather used to be on the server, even though he was the classic OP human build, he would regularly make absolute fools out of snakes. In particular, the copperhead players, since he seemed to have a bone to pick with them for whatever reason. All this with very conservative stats on his build as well as old, out of meta equipment, like an axe.
Ok, you can't give vipers points for having heat pits, and completely ignore that same point for pythons and boas. Pythons and boas are primarily nocturnal ambush predators. You want to see an effective python? Green tree python. Extremely effective bird catcher due to massive front fangs, and excellent camoflauge, and sensitive and large heat pits and eyes make for accurate strikes.
Emerald tree boas too, theyre gorgeous, extremely stealthy, have nightmare inducing teeth, numerous, large, and visually striking heat pits, and some of the largest jaw muscles of any snake

I never agree with the actual rankings, editing and the info are really fun but like how is anaconda b tier when its an apex predator adapted to rivers, why would it need to be versitile on land when it does so well near water
It's weird seeing garter snakes in such a low tier, when they're so *prolific*. I mean, granted, an individual garter snake is surely much weaker than an individual player using most other snake builds. And yet, they must be doing something right, because they're in absolutely no danger of being wiped out; they're everywhere. Perhaps it's simply the combination of high respawn rate and ability to harvest XP from ridiculously common prey (notably insects).
Think of it like ranked matches online. There are a lot of players in the lower divisions but when you get up to the pro level there are few players who can sustain that level of dominance
When you know its a garter snake there is no need to fear. But if you are a small child or a kitty or a monkey and dont know any better you just see a sneaky snek and crap your britches. They have some intimidation factor as well in the lower tiers.
The fact the snake builds from the Australian server were left out is honestly disapointing considering some of their builds have the highest venom stats in the game...
@@Ryodraco that's because Australia is a first world country with good health care and snake awareness is heavily implemented into the education systems
Hi there everyone! I’ve heard of a new bug in Outside. Apparently, if you join a human player’s party as they switch servers but leave right as they connect, you can join servers that ban your build. Perhaps it might be a good idea for a video to document what this bug does to the meta? It’s called the “invasive species” glitch.
It's a known bug but it's certainly not new, at least in the timespan of humans having access to server switching through boats. A video would be cool though. Even Burmese Pythons in this video took advantage of a similar exploit in Florida, but instead of leaving right as they connect, they left after becoming a pet support class.

@@CoolBird420 The leak wasn’t disproven, that was the devs plan at the time. What happened was they changed their plan because or the leak. Now… well I don’t have proof but I think they’re gonna do the next extinction event when the human players complete the nuclear weaponry faction quest.
@@cabby007 The Human Civilian build has one of the lowest combat stats of the Human Class. Not only does it not have the protective armor of Combatant builds, but is also restricted from using most of the better weapons in the game. I doubt those snakes primarily hunt Humans, so we should be looking at their more natural match-ups, in order to give a fair analysis and tier placement.
I dispute garter snakes placement for two reasons: one, their ongoing evolutionary war with newts has provided a benefit; at least some species are able to sequester the poison in their body, and in turn, become poisonous themselves. Second, their distribution. They are found in some of the regions (like western washington state) where very few other snakes can survive. Their smaller size is responsible for that. Also more an interesting note; they are one of the few snakes to live in a group, outside of brumation/breeding Edit: to be more specific, garters can survive in *colder* locales due to their small size. In western Washington, its quite temperate/cool, and we have two types of snakes; a few species of garters, and rubber boas.
as much as i like tierzoo i do have to admit that while the information is technically accurate the way its presented implies things that simply arent true. most of the "low tier" animals are either specialists or generalists that keep a low profile, both of these tactics are very successful despite not being big and impressive like mambas and anacondas
@@GodwynDi I mean, who is gonna be the better hunter, the person who knows everything there is in the environment they hunt in so they have an amazing advantage Or A wandering hunter who has only the basics and bunch of jacks but they can’t effectively utilise their environments like the specialist can. Again, that is more so a dig at how servers change all the time which will kill the generalists eventually if they don’t adapt their playstyle and while specialists can struggle due to changes in the environment, doesn’t mean they can’t adapt overtime.
...and he forgot the coolest of the family...the snakes that chose a flying/ gliding option for arboreal maps. This ability maximizes escape chances; and due to the nature of the rain forest biome; enables map changes to new spaces heretofore unexplored by others in their class.
I wish he'd mentioned how the higher tier snakes are so terrifying, they actually give a huge buff to all snake builds in terms of Intimidation. ESPECIALLY to human players- while some can use their Study ability and learn about the different types a vast majority will Dash out the instant they even THINK they see a snake, thusly saving even the weakest players of the build from Humans, probably the most OP of all builds. Though this is also a similarity with Arachnid builds, Snake builds are much more powerful at their best so I'd say this tips the scales in their favor.
This is actually a common mistake in the human player's "danger sense" ability coming from their ancestors, when humans were so weak that almost everything was a bad matchup for them. This is just a skill they have yet to relinquish because it gives them dangersense in social situations now which is useful. Snakes aren't the only ones with this intimidation factor, spiders, bees, some classes of shark (like baskin shark) and many other small form animals have gained a plus in their matchup due to primitive instincts
Spiders have the downside where their unknown danger will cause their deaths where any non-dangerous creature would have gone unsquashed. Nobody fucks with a snake though.
Actually, this is a main feature of the game for various builds, even cats are extremely scared of really anything bigger than them or anything they have fought with on the past, this is actually an obvious double edge sword since it means that anything scared from them will have higher chance to escape and be aware of their location, getting the advantage on the battle.
It is absolutelly *GREAT* to have more TierZoo videos!!! But if I have one thing to complain, it is the actual tier list screen, I think it would be better if instead of bluring out the already existing placements, just add the pictures as they are being ranked. Older videos already did this and I think the change was kinda bad, even if it don't change that much of the video. The animation is amazing as always. *Love* your content and wanted to give some honest feedback.
As an Australian-Build I have to say that lots of these snakes clearly don't live up to the horrors I face daily just walking outside. Seriously though, loved this video so much! I get so hyped every time you upload, because its just always consistently education, fun to watch, and edited so creatively, with a good mix of humour and education. Keep up the good work dude!
True, as a fellow Aussie build, I was waiting to hear about the brown snake, red belly black snake, tiger snake and taipan. Four snakes every Australian has to deal with daily. They may not have have the highest tier list stats. But the taipan has the most potent venom and the Tiger snake is so aggressive and venomous for a suburban player. And I haven't even mentioned the Death Adder, its named after its occupation.
@@NedstarRUclips taipans are rare in part because they are reclusive, that however means they are successful, you dont see them dead any more than you see them alive
Generally TierZoo does a great job, but he really dropped the ball by not mentioning players on the Australian server. The server is full of dangerous builds, and our snake builds are top of the line.
I initially just put this video on for background noise but between the RuneScape intro and the amazing commentary it got my undivided attention. Great work.
It would be hard since there are so many. Like some ants are S tier. Some are B. Some beetles would be S tier, while others would be bottom tier. It would have to be a specialized list. I’d like an Ants tier list, like with the spider tier list.
I live in Australia and am glad we don't have the Black Mamba or some of the Cobras. Our Browns and Tiger snakes scare me, but you can survive their bite with a compression bandage unless you are bitten on the balls, head, neck or torso. You are pretty unlucky to see a Taipan of any variety outside of a zoo in Australia unless you do something stupid like walking through a cane field in Queensland and Northern NSW. To be honest, I haven't seen a venomous snake in Australia outside of a zoo for at least 20 years..... and want to keep it that way.
@@Brolylomaniac First Aid for snakebites in Australia entails applying a compression bandage. How this works is compressing the skin allows the blood to still flow while restricting the movement of the lymphatic fluid and slowing the uptake of the venom. In the 1980s while serving in the Australian Army, it was explained to me that venom molecules were larger than the blood molecules, so the compression bandage compressed the capillaries and kept the venom from moving while still letting the blood flow. However, compression bandages don't always work because the snakebite has hit a major blood vessel. This happened to an old farmer near Warwick in Qld a few years ago. He was unlucky and got bitten in the right spot by the snake, then died within 20 to 45 minutes. While I have heard of a soldier dying from hitting the ground on an exercise and being bitten on the neck by a Tiger snake, I haven't specifically heard of someone being bitten on the testicles when taking a crap in the bush. That doesn't mean it couldn't happen. ;-)

Also, they actually party up with the gopher tortoise during winter months in burrows, keeping one another warm

True. But dragon builds are human fantasy which means you can only be them with games inside the game. Dragon builds can take alot of other spiration too, from birds, to lions, even dogs in some cases. Dragons represent alot of humanity's fear of other species

Even Burmese Pythons in this video took advantage of a similar exploit in Florida, but instead of leaving right as they connect, they left after becoming a pet support class.
the devs should be working hard to fix this exploit but there's a leak that the next update: the climate change update might fix this bug by nerfing the viability of the human class.
@@truttle4522 Depending on how drastic they go with that update, it could end up nerfing a _lot_ more than the Human builds.

Jormungandr didn't exist. Recovered pieces of text from a leaker living in the Scandinavian area claimed that the games final update would be called "Ragnarok" which would lead to the game being taken offline for all players. Jormungandr was supposed to be the final boss of the update who would crush the earth by wrapping itself around the planet.

I love the amount of research you do for a tier list with a gaming twist, keep up the great work👍
Yes, researched well enough to exclude Australian snakes, the most venomous snakes in the world.
As an Australian I feel overlooked, but I get it, we have too many A and S tier snake builds
Narr, the lack of modern fangs would keep them off the top tiers.

@@cabby007 why would antiven make you a dead man?
We have too many A and S tier build in general
I dispute garter snakes placement for two reasons: one, their ongoing evolutionary war with newts has provided a benefit; at least some species are able to sequester the poison in their body, and in turn, become poisonous themselves.
Second, their distribution. They are found in some of the regions (like western washington state) where very few other snakes can survive. Their smaller size is responsible for that.
Also more an interesting note; they are one of the few snakes to live in a group, outside of brumation/breeding
Edit: to be more specific, garters can survive in *colder* locales due to their small size.
Some of those aren't really points in their favor. They are spending evolutionary points on more and more localized specialization.
Agreed, i was shocked garter didnt make b teir, much less f
@@GodwynDi I mean, who is gonna be the better hunter, the person who knows everything there is in the environment they hunt in so they have an amazing advantage
Or
A wandering hunter who has only the basics and bunch of jacks but they can’t effectively utilise their environments like the specialist can.
And while the specialist is only great in a single area, why leave if you so good there?
Unfortunately this is actually a drawback for the snake. A lot of people kill any snake they find for this reason
@@technicaldifficulties368 true, but a vast majority doesn't have the guts to get into combat with one so they'd rather flight than fight

It is absolutelly *GREAT* to have more TierZoo videos!!! But if I have one thing to complain, it is the actual tier list screen, I think it would be better if instead of bluring out the already existing placements, just add the pictures as they are being ranked.

@@andrewsmith8729 the fact we know getting bit in the balls is fatal means that has happened to someone before...
Ouch
That doesn't mean it couldn't happen. ;-)
