It just makes sense, why be married to a large house payment. Even if you have some building skills , this is a less expensive option. The cool thing is you could set it up for 110 volt or 12 volt power. Then use propane to cook with, and use a fridge for an rv that goes 110 volt or 12 volt propane. After seeing this and being a carpenter for 35 years. I'm going build one like this. It's all one needs. Money in your pocket is better than wasting your life away trying pay for a home that is to expensive and cost you 3000k a month to own. Taxes go up, and wages go down.
There are so many different ways to make it unique and also to your skill level. We could have saved a lot of money as well by doing things cheaper. Check out our "cost of going off grid" video for the info.
So so smart, I'm happy this common sense is growing and catching on....beautiful comfy little home, the kids have such a beautiful yard and pond...frogging and fishing...all the stuff that really matters! Not Tick tock crap! Yaaa for you guys from a CT shed to camp friend
Personally I wouldn’t mix the IKEA and rustic look, but I understand budgeting and price range factor, and the ikea stuff can always be switched out later down the road. Definitely interested in your solar setup, rain water collection, and compost toilet.
Pretty nice. I was surprised that there was no upper cabinets in the kitchen or bathroom, to keep medicines out of eyes of little ones. The tub is nice. I saw an idea under the stairs was made into a pantry or kids hidden toy place. The tin ceiling is a nice effect for the style you have. Nice work so far.
Not a fan of the tin. We started on knotty pine. All of our supplements are not harmful for the children. :) We don't have anything over the counter or prescription. We will have to show the loft area soon!
I'm totally surprised that they even make sheds that big on the open market. Like how much stuff do some people even have to fill out a 50 x 16 ft shed?? That being said, the shed-home looks great.
that kitchen tables is called a breakfast nook and it's real common in the neighborhoods I grew up in in North county St Louis they were small older homes built in the 50- 60s that's about all the room for a kitchen table you had if you wanted to put a kitchen table in your actual kitchen
Hi, Thank you for the video. You didn't show the upstairs. I was curious as to how you turned that into the bedrooms. Also do you plan on adding on to this as your children need more room? Take care, stay safe, have a nice day. ☺️ ✌️ ☮️ 🖖 😷 🙉🙈🙊
The only thing I highly recommend is to put vents on the bottom. It’ll mold under there without ventilation and will eventually rot your floors because it’ll hold moisture.

I recently started looking into shed to house conversion and this is the exact size I wanted. This video definitely showed me how big this model would be! Just a quick question how much was it for them to input the electric? (Was it a set price for this size model?) Stay safe!
How did you add the transom dormer to the barn style building? When I called Derksen they told me the transom dormers were only available for the cabin style buildings. Thanks for your help!
@anne lawler I want to know which state too, so I can stay away from there. That was a massive snake! I don't want things like that around anywhere I call home.
the only reason to try to live in 16 foot wide, is for road delivery. In this case, having a bunch of family to share space, better off building a 3 car garage, 24x32...tons of space to work with, than build a main house.
Yes they can. It's not the "same" way and you have to find the right company! You insure them as a shed but you calculate the belongings and we negotiated a plan.
@@mainmeadowsanctuary961 Derksen buildings are all over, Giddings Texas has a factory that you can check out on RUclips! € Btw guys your cabin looks awesome, plus that deck is fantastic!
We plan to do a video discussing cost and a breakdown. Everything we did including shed conversion, land, well drilled, solar system, tools and all furnishing was all achieved for under 75k
We have a video on the costs of off grid living. The Ikea closet is completely customizable so I dont have a link. Check your local codes regarding buildings 😃
We have another video on our total cost breakdown for starters we have obviously invested more since then on other projects around our property. Hoping to add some new content soon :). The empty shell of the shed insulated and wired for electric cost 30k the deck was another 8k.
You've accomplished what most folks have not, turning a shed into a house. Not impressed it looks more like a cheap mobile home rather than a house. You could have done so much better than that ugly ceiling material and what ever that mess is you've put on the walls. I guess to each their own. Sorry for being so critical but the opening video shows this nice looking building and loads of windows and then we see the inside !
@@mainmeadowsanctuary961 Cool I hope you choose a material that looks better than that rusty tin. Sorry I was so negative, didn't mean to be rude. Was just speaking my mind. And yes not having debt is a definite win win. Good luck
The good thing about a shed vs a mobile home is that you can customize it the way you want to and make it extra personable and homey ❤ yes I hated the tin lol 😆 then we had knotty pine but took it down for walls in the school house.

I don't know where you live,to pay 3000 a month payments,but I know I would be moving,if that was the case.
And you can always add on in the future to make more room whe the money is convenient.
I agree
Great layout and living space, let the LORD be with you always 🙏🙏🙏
Love it! We're thinking of going this route and seeing like - minded people is so encouraging
It is a shed it will always be a shed. Build a house. It will appreciate in time and you can sell for profit. A shed will not.
Indeed👏
Thank you for sharing your build with us. Very lovely. Built homes with personal touches are awesome. Thank you once again. 👍🏽👍🏽

Yeah most of the IKEA stuff was in the firepit in 2 years 😂
So cool!
@1:50 I thought I was playing Division 2 when I saw that blue cooler. Could've been a gear cache or just some components for the checkpoints.

I think a 9ft ceiling would be good. Then add a second floor on site. I really like Derksen, I wish they had a place close to me
Cool. What part of the country are you in?
I recently started looking into shed to house conversion and this is the exact size I wanted. This video definitely showed me how big this model would be! Just a quick question how much was it for them to input the electric? (Was it a set price for this size model?) Stay safe!
Its usually around $750 for a basic package
@@mainmeadowsanctuary961 do they just add it to the total cost or need it up front?
Sure, but you are not doing it anyway, and that good for you, because this house is crap.
How did you add the transom dormer to the barn style building? When I called Derksen they told me the transom dormers were only available for the cabin style buildings. Thanks for your help!
We put our porch on the side
I love your stair way. Did you build it? It turned out nice. I hope ours looks as good when it's finished.
We did.
The outside looks better than the inside sorry to say that
What's the upstairs look like?
if u dont mine me asking what did it cost to have them do the wiring and spray insulation

How much did this size cost you. Ill love to have this model
I wonder how much the price has increased in the last year due to the material cost increases we have seen.
I can only imagine! We just got another one a 10x16 we will be working on so we will see our cost at the end!
Yeah u have top notch skills I want to learn from 🤣
How much was the total for renovation and shed?
To each his own, not mine.
I want a house like this.
How do u wire water?
Hey bud what size is that storage next to your living room

Where did you get the tub? Who's the manufacturer please my wife would live it
Way fair.
What’s upstairs?
Most states require a sewer and composting toilets are not allowed. Any thoughts on the matter?
Move to a county where there are no building codes.
We live in one such vounty in Missouri. We build what we want without permission or inspections.
Can get inexpensive picnic table at lowes
We actually built one for free with recycled fence panels and cinder blocks
The Lowe’s ones look pretty

Can these be insured like a house?
Yes they can. It's not the "same" way and you have to find the right company! You insure them as a shed but you calculate the belongings and we negotiated a plan.
