    I loved building these kits as a kid in the 70s, I’ve now started recreating them in 1/35 scale.

    Man, that is great. Really loved those Matchbox kits back in the day.

    Straightforward uncomplicated models and no dreaded photo esch and individual track links . Love these old kits and nice to see Revell reissuing them . Have the Wespe in my stash along with the Chaffee , the Comet and Puma

      Thanks for your comments, I’m in the process of building ‘Monty’s Caravan’ and Dingo armoured car from Matchbox. Stay tuned for the result. 👍

    Loved building this

    Wonderful nostalgic build and a fine result. I loved the palm tree diorama for this one, even though the Wespe was never used in North Africa. That never worried us in the 1970s, though!

      Thanks for your comments, yes I think the accuracy was the secondary concern as the kits fired the imagination of the builder and this made the model building experience even better.

    You’ve got a steady hand for painting those tyres. Looks great!

      It’s all down to paint consistency allowing capillary action to do the work for you.
      I give a little demo in my Humber Car video 👍.

    As a teen i loved these kits so much, can't wait for the newest models arriving at the shops.. They are easy but beautiful kits. Very nice build and painting. Only the black wash onto the sand base seems to be not right. I think a darker reddish-brown would look more realistic to a dryed ot cracked riverbed.But overall a wonderful build and result.

    awesome work, the painting of your crew 1/76 looks much better than my attempts, even "my" scale is 1/32 🤭

    Beautiful build. The crew compartment looks as if it has 50mm scale armour! I'm sure real life Wespe crews would have loved to have had armour that thick instead of the paltry 8-15mm. I had all the Matchbox Afrika Korps kits in the 1970s as a teenager I loved them, even the over-scale lack of detail look and awful stiff rubber tracks that always disintegrated if bent to far.

    I love old Matchbox builds! Thanks for that. Very entertaining.
    If I may say, I thought the Flory Wash wash left the base looking a little garish (as you predicted) and I wondered if another, lighter wash might serve to tone it done a bit. Just musing on what I would do, in this case. Anyway, the model turned out looking great and a testament to your great modeling skills.
    Keep 'em comin'!

      Thanks for your comments, I decided to go with the spirit of the build and use the exaggerated Matchbox base to the max. Also as an aside I thought it would demonstrate the Flory wash application and effect. 👍

      I think the toy car part of the business caused the failure, the models were still profitable I believe.

      @@creativetimewasting I built loads of em as a kid , very fond memories, and diorama bases included !! you simply don't get that now , didn't realise at the time how good they were !!

    A great model Neil, love the diorama too but the purists will tell you that the wespe never served in Africa, so what, you enjoyed it , I enjoyed it , result, cheers mate .

    • @creativetimewasting
      @creativetimewasting  5 месяцев назад +2

      I think these kits were very good and firing up the imagination of the builder and accuracy was secondary to the concept.
      Great kits for the younger modeller starting out in the hobby.

    Have a try with games workshops skeleton horde for a wash instead of agrax as it gives a warm brown shade as agrax can come dark on some figures,vehicles etc and it has a tenancy to lift and adds a good blending affect,I use it now on any wargame figures from lord of the rings,epic acw,flintloque and historical figures,great job on a wonderful kit that has aged well,must have done 8 or 9 in different scheme's over the years.

      I have a load of games workshop paints as my step son used to build them but has stopped and given me all his paints. I will see if that particular wash is there and if so I will try it 👍

    Nice Neil. Great depth. What’s the process master time in that. At least the instructions are understandable.

    • @creativetimewasting
      @creativetimewasting  5 месяцев назад +3

      Seeing as the kit was produced in 1974 I would say the process master time is 50 years.
