Awesome video!!! Have built this kit in the 1970s as a kid. Built it again in the 1990s when getting back into modeling. And built it again sometime during the 2000s. Fun old kit, just enough pieces.
Great build. 👍🏻 Just picked up this re-release last week out of nostalgia as the M16 was one of my first ”serious” builds as a teenager way back when...
For sure! It’s a great opportunity to relive some foundation memories and give ourselves a glimpse at how our skills have developed. Thanks again for joining in 🙏
BZ Clayton! I built the old Matchbox version of this back in the day and I seriously thought that this was not a subject that interested me but after watching this and seeing your final results I’m beginning to doubt my decision. Inspiring mate!
An absolutely incredible result on the M16 Clayton! After watching episode one of this build, I was keen to see how you were going to weather the model, and you did not disappoint. This M16 looks like it is straight off the battlefield! Looking forward to more of the same. Cheers for now mate!
Even an old Tamiya kit still have a place in any kit collection, and you have show what can be achieved with a kit of this age, congratulations on a job extremely well done, bedt regards from a Kiwi living in Melbourne
It was like you tossed out all your own advise and just went with it. It still turned out amazingly though. This is a piece of nostalgia, but also a learning process that any modeler should take to teach us just how far we have come. I would love to see Tamiya come up with updated tooling on this vehicle.
Yeah…I did get a little sloppy. Probably should have shown the model a little more respect, but it did up up ok didn’t it. Thank you 🙏 And a new tooled Tamiya halftrack…could you imagine?! Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙏
With foundation skills applied steadily, use of weathering products, and a small addition of handling the vinyl tracks, you've made a vlog on how even older kits can turn out well.
Thanks Jamie. That was my hope. It’s amazing how much life you can extract from there old beauties with a decent paint job and some weathering. Great to see you here again 🙏🍺
Some great techniques to try out in this video! Yep the old Tamiya kits do bring back many memories for me as a child. I remember Dad and I building a Walker Bulldog that had the motorized bits with it, and driving it all over the lounge room running over toy soldiers LOL.
Oh man! What an epic memory. I have a soft spot for the Bulldog. I was lucky enough to meet a guy who restored one and he took me for a ride. I’ll have to get that kit again one day. Thanks for taking the time to comment 🤗🫡
That is one of the best weathered armour models I have ever seen. I only got my APC version of these Tamiya Half Tracks in December, after pre-ordering in May 2023. I can tell you that in that version, the instructions tell you to put the large star decal onto the bonnet, with the stars point facing the windscreen. Just as in the WW2 photo in your video.
Interesting 🤔 I wonder why Tamiya changed that? The APC version is an earlier release. They might have been working on an m16 version in a museum, and they had it wrong there? Interesting observation. Thanks for sharing 🍺🙏
@@workbenchhobbies4316 Its funny that all three kits box art shows the star the right way round. I downloaded the instructions for the mortar carrier and AA gun versions. Mortar carrier instructions are correct. But bizarrely, the AA gun version instructions show the star the wrong way round. Plus the pictures of the model and box art recreation on those instructions show it the right way. They clearly got it wrong on the painting and decal placement guide part of the instructions.
I'm coming to you from old Virginia, Lynchburg to be specific 🇺🇸. I agree this is the greatest hobby in the world. I am in no means a master modeler but I keep trying to improve my skills. I have built that half-track model a number of times. I don't have one in my stash right now.
Really enjoyable video. And great build and fantastic finish. Made me think of two things. The first one is half way though a decal applying session I decide I'm going to the pub after this for a bit of stress release, and the second is how many pots of olive drab paint have I brought in my life!
Great looking M-16 I had one of these back in the 90's..sadly no more , but since Tamiya have reissued it I will no doubt get one and try some of those techniques used in your build...Big thanks from the UK
Thanks Ian - appreciate your kind words. Just be brave with your weathering and enjoy the journey. These old Tamiya kits provide the perfect canvas! Thanks for your support 🙏
Thank Kevin. I love monotone schemes too. Russian armour in particular. There’s something cool about a faded 4bo with mud and dust effects! Thanks for joining in 💪🍺
A timeless kit. Looks fantastic and the great tips only show how good Tamiya kits were in the past ! You were a real modeler if you could afford them ( a lot of lawns mowed ) ! Cheers.
It’s just a bad ass piece of machinery. I wanted to get this the last time it was issued and they were all gone. When it popped up again I just went for it right away. I also found a monogram/mattel twin 50cal. half track from 1966. Your M16 looks really nice.
Clayton, that kit turned into a bad ass! Congrats on another successful build! I’m thoroughly enjoying your videos and look forward to you eventually receiving well over 100,000 subs! Thanks for sharing your techniques and taking the precious time out of your family commitments and work to helping modelers across the globe!👍🏾
What an inspiring message. Thank you 🙏 I am getting so much joy watching the channel grow, but more than that having the opportunity to connect with likeminded people around the world. What a gift 🙏🍀
Good morning from Chicago Clayton 🙂 Very impressive finished product! You have quite a selection of weathering products in your arsenal I see. A friend gave me an original issue of this kit last year. I like that you built it straight out of the box. Look forward to the next project
Hi Jim. I’ve been surprised at how many people have appreciated the out of box build. I need to keep that in mind for future builds I think. Thanks for connecting 🙏🍺
Hey there Clayton! One more thing I wanted to mention was your excellent work on the rubber band tracks on this vehicle. They literally were big rubber bands and you got it spot on! My compliments to you, tracks are a big visual part of all AFVs and halftracks. So getting those right make a huge difference in how the finished project looks. BRAVO!!
Thanks for watching! All of these techniques will work perfectly on Russian subjects. 4BO is the perfect foundation for weathering. Thanks for connecting 🙏🥳
Great work! Being considerably younger than those kit froms I cannot really relate to the nostalgia, but was intrigued by the weathering process. Curiously enough I find myself drifting to a rather similar order of techniques for my 1/72 scale models!
This is looking really good probably better than many of my own! Please keep making Modeling videos it gives me a lot of inspiration and motivation seeing what can be achieved when I really invest in it.
Great build! One of my favorite subjects to build is Anti-Aircraft weapons and now that this kit has been re-issued it is definitely on my wish list. Subscribed!
A good paint- and weathering-job makes 80-90% of the final appearance of a scale model. Correct and fine details really just take a backseat. One can clearly see the model is outdated in its details but it still looks really good due to the painting and weathering! 😃👍
Thanks Thomas. That was my hope…that a decent paint job and weathering effort could make up for the shortcomings with the details. Appreciate you sharing your thoughts 🙏🍺💪
The circle means that vehicle is earmarked for the DDay invasion. Some units used the solid circle some use broken. The top point should be toward the windshield.
Hi Robert. Thanks for your input. Handy info with the circle! I didn’t know that. Point of the star…yeah, as mentioned I suspected as much. Appreciate you taking the time to connect. ✌🏼👍🙏
Thank you very much. It is one of the things I enjoy the most! But it is something I would only use in rare situations and I felt it enhanced this one. Thank you for connecting 🤝
I appreciate the ability it takes to make realistic weathering and convincing battle damage. But I don't have the airbrush and Im here working 40+ hours a week, exercising daily and trying to maintain a healthy relationship with my girlfriend. I'm satisfied making a presentable representation that I consider highly detailed. My theory is that my AFVs have either just been issued to their crews and are getting ready for that first patrol or they have just returned from the repair shop and were run though the tank wash. Your videos give some good tips and fun ideas that make my details even more noticeable.
Thanks for joining in! I’m totally hearing you re life commitments. I’m just lucky I get a lot of support from my wife with growing this community. And heck! They had to be clean at some point, so if that’s giving you joy making them that way and that’s all you have time for them that’s perfect 👌🏼 Thanks for connecting 🙏💪🍺
Interesting take on the varnish/lacquer question/ issues. I remember when I bought a clear semi-gloss lacquer way after I had build the tamiya pz.4, the m4 Sherman, the bulldog and the tiger and when I applied the lacquer it already had the decals on them. When I was applying it to my pz.4, I applied it with such a force that the lacquer or my brush rather ripped one of the German crosses and the paint right of the tank 😭🤣so I applied it very delicately and definitely learned the lesson. But I still think that one should rather apply the lacquer at the very end. Even after applying the decals because I think that the lacquer would protect it if it were for some reason the model would become wet 🤷🏻♂️ that’s my reason
They there. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Applying a varnish prior to applying the decals will certainly help the decals settle on the model, and you should always seal the decals with a varnish. If you are blowing the decals off I’d suggest you might want to dial the air pressure back…but varnish before decals will help with a lot of those issues. 💪🙏🍺
This really does look like a thing of beauty! I’ve never done a halftrack (although I should probably do one now) and this Looks like some great inspiration for any halftrack! Great work!
Greetings From Detroit! Wow- really enjoyed part 2 as much as part 1, I subscribed to your channel immediately after seeing your M16?build- you must be delighted with the VIEWS! As mentioned in a prior comment- I just FINISHED my original 1976 M16 in Winter Whitewash camouflage, it’s one of my top 5 builds I’d say. I had noted Prior to my build- that NO ONE- had done a Tamiya M16 build In Full. Not one. Yours was outstanding, not BECAUSE it was the only one- it is your concise, clear speaking voice and instructions/thought process for the build. The editing, video quality, are simply among the finest I’ve seen on RUclips. Period: And I have watched HUNDREDS. Many of us “older chaps” do not have the vision, dexterity, nor see the actual NEED for “a ton of photo-etch” or fiddling around with “link in link” track for armor. The vinyl track was no issue- (good comeback on that!)- nor is it with other high quality vinyl tracks. CA glue takes care of All track sag/tension. I was delighted to find that my evolution in weathering is up to snuff: oils, pin washes, acrylic washes- chipping (when needed) etc. for Most of us , the joy is IN the painting & weathering (and learning WHEN to “stop”! These older kits are affordable to more people- bring joy and achievement. Hah! It’s funny- for us in the Northern Hemisphere, or prime model building times- as youngsters OR elders was (is) in the winter months: We had SUMMERS off from school- outside continuously unless pouring rain. Cheers, and Thank You- I look forward to going back through your prior builds and seeing the new ones. Wishing you well from Detroit. JW
"it is your concise, clear speaking voice and instructions/thought process for the build" Seconded, being non-english native speaking, your videos are very easy to understand and comprehend (still using subtitle sometimes, short remarks sometimes go amiss).
That is fantastic feedback. When I started this channel I was concerned my Australian accent may be difficult for people to understand, so I make an effort to try and speak slowly and clearly, so I’m pleased to hear you are able to follow along. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. May I ask what language you speak? 🍺🙏🍀

Thanks Paul. I did have to make peace with the OtB philosophy but it seems people have appreciated it. Tiger review inbound! Thanks for connecting 🙏🍀☝️
All you need to do for decals is dab a drop of floor wax or acrylic gloss varnish on the model where decal is going just before applying it. It's just enough to stop silvering and helps adhesion.
Wow she really came out great even with out extra aftermarket stuff keep them coming. And I'm still waiting for mine to come in 😢so ill be lil late with my build
The same quality in the tracks that people complain about, can ALSO be used to make a MUCH better final result. "Memory" in the vinyl material makes the tracks want to be rounder and less accurate. You can carefully "over-bend" the tracks to more closely fit the bogies. Also try very warm, but not boiling water. I've also found the tracks fit better with the 1/2 end-connectors removed, and the tracks cxarefully joined with a staple hidden on the very bottom, in the middle....Look very carefully at the shapes of the real deal, to see what I mean.... But, GREAT MODEL here, the dirt looks especially nice!....
Im not saying that I alone am responsible for these kits coming back... but I did write to Tamiya three years ago and tell them that I thought with some care and the open sprocket and idler wheels from K59 that they were still better than Dragon's kits. Did you know that historical reference photos show that you could use that extended bumper on the troop carrier version and the roller bumper on the other versions as well? You are absolutely right about American painted vehicles in WW2, they did not chip, they were backed on and it was a very hard paint. Another thing is that American tires did not sag, they were especially made with a rubber different from civilian vehicles so that if they were shot and the air leaked out, they would hold their shape for a good while until the tires could be changed. But there are tons of photos of German vehicles with sagged tires. Very great build and painting video!
Very interesting re the tyres. I wasn’t aware of that…but now you say it re the Germans and flat tyres it makes a lot of sense! Appreciate your insights. Handy info for sure 👌🏼 I
@@workbenchhobbies4316 Yes, do not by sagged tires for any of your American kits even for use by the commonwealth. This issue came up on Missing Lynx and shortly after I read that I went to the D-Day museum in New Orleans and saw some of those tires. A lot of people probably saw those tires and thought they were fake because they did not look like the same tires they have on their cars.
Another great video Clayton. I'm not surprised the original video gained so many views - I reckon three's a niche for you to showcase more advanced techniques like you've shown here on "classic" models that lots of people know from building as kids or revisiting as older modellers. Perhaps the Tamiya Bradley, Jagdpanther, or the Dragon King Tiger next?
I think people appreciate the out of box philosophy too. It’s been a bit of a light bulb moment💡 In saying that, I’m still going to build my models the way I’d like to see them, but will 100% do more of these vintage builds in the future. Great suggestions too by the way, but I have about 6 months worth of ‘scheduled builds lined up… So many models so little time! 🫣 Appreciate your suggestions 🙏
@@workbenchhobbies4316 Ahh yes, the queue of future builds - I know the feeling. Mind you, if you could only squeeze one suggestion in - I reckon the Tamiya Bradley would be pretty topical - just saying 😉
Beautiful work Clayton, these half tracks look so cool. I hope all the viewers and commenter's on the giveaway stay and subscribe!! Thinking aloud here - one thing I've been pondering (and not practicing or trying🙄) is how to get some of the tonal variations in panels using a hairy stick. I know black basing techniques would help, but it's the lighter tones you apply with the airbrush after the base layer I'm thinking about. Maybe OPR is the way to go in that regard??
Hey buddy. How are you? Getting gradients with a brush isn’t impossible but very tricky. You are 100% right when you suggest oils for that task. That would be a great place to start. Great to see you again 🍺💪🙏
Okay, let's be upfront and honest...I hate armor modelers. Their work is so amazingly realistic and stunning. Just great stuff. I build sailing ships and I'll admit my models look "okay" (which is good enough for me), but these armor guys are take detailing to a whole different level, just amazing. Okay, that's it...I'm going to try some of these techniques...on my next build. Yes, I'm jealous...but now I'm motivated. Thanks.
Thanks Brian... I think...😉 It’s always great to get a little inspiration from other modellers, good luck with your next build! Be sure to have some fun with it
Hi Andy, it is not an actual colour pigment, it is just a texture and the colour is coming from the enamel paint I am putting in it. Thanks Andy. I’m sure you will enjoy the build. Thanks for sharing 🙏🍀
Even an old Tamiya kit still have a place in any kit collection, and you have show what can be achieved with a kit of this age, congratulations on a job extremely well done, bedt regards from a Kiwi living in Melbourne
Thank you my friend. Appreciate you connecting 🍺☝️
Hi Clayton
Very impressive results mate!
The weathering techniques were great and she looks like a real winner.
Thanks for sharing your cool video ❤😊
Thank you Michael. Thanks for connecting mate 🙏
Made my day! Especially the drive over the bridge! ❤😂
Hi Andy, it is disappointing but it is what it is.
Looks really nice Clayton I Really enjoyed this one 👍
Thanks Eric. Appreciate you joining in 🙏
I'm coming to you from old Virginia, Lynchburg to be specific 🇺🇸. I agree this is the greatest hobby in the world. I am in no means a master modeler but I keep trying to improve my skills. I have built that half-track model a number of times. I don't have one in my stash right now.
That’s the beauty of this hobby. You don’t need to be a master modeller to enjoy it. Thanks so much for being part of this community 🙏💪🍺
Another great build series mate hats off🤘🇦🇺
Glad you enjoyed it 🍺💪
Great build that makes me want to build a couple of those older Tamiya armor kits - no aftermarket needed to have fun!
Thanks mate 🙏 There is something to be said for just building and not getting too wound up in upgrades. It’s surprisingly satisfying
Very nice weathering on the half track Clayton! Very realistic! 😊
Glad you like it! I was pretty happy with the end result myself 😁
Really enjoyable video. And great build and fantastic finish. Made me think of two things. The first one is half way though a decal applying session I decide I'm going to the pub after this for a bit of stress release, and the second is how many pots of olive drab paint have I brought in my life!
😆 decals would be my least favourite thing to do also, and yes…dark yellow and olive drab…lots!
Thanks for connecting 🙏
Great looking M-16 I had one of these back in the 90's..sadly no more , but since Tamiya have reissued it I will no doubt get one and try some of those techniques used in your build...Big thanks from the UK
Thanks Ian - appreciate your kind words. Just be brave with your weathering and enjoy the journey. These old Tamiya kits provide the perfect canvas! Thanks for your support 🙏
I love being able to make a mono color finish interesting. OD is my favorite, and this came out fab
Cheers.
Thanks for joining in Joe. How many lawns did it take to get a kit? 🫣🤔
Too many !@@workbenchhobbies4316
haha
This halftrack came out beautiful! VERY convincing mud and dust!!
Thanks Mike. Glad you liked it 👍🍺
It’s just a bad ass piece of machinery. I wanted to get this the last time it was issued and they were all gone. When it popped up again I just went for it right away. I also found a monogram/mattel twin 50cal. half track from 1966. Your M16 looks really nice.
It is a pretty nasty looking machine isn’t it! They didn’t call it the ‘meat chopper’ for nothing! Bit morbid really 🫣
Thanks for joining in 🙏☝️😎
Clayton, that kit turned into a bad ass!
BRAVO!!
Thanks so much Jim - Glad you liked them. I thought they came out surprisingly well too 😁
Nice job, mate - it really looks like it has been through mud, dust and the ravages of operational duty👍
Thank you Richard, appreciate you connecting and I am glad you like the finished product! 😎
Thanks for your video! I will use it as a tutorial for my work on the T-34 tank model.
Hey 👋 thanks for joining in. All these techniques work on other scales for sure. Just have to be a little more restrained on the smaller scales. 🫡💪🙏
This is looking really good probably better than many of my own! Please keep making Modeling videos it gives me a lot of inspiration and motivation seeing what can be achieved when I really invest in it.
That's the plan! As long as people watch and engage I’ll keep making them. Appreciate you connecting. Hope to see you here again soon 💪🙏
Absolutely stunning I have definitely picked up some tips
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for joining in Andrew
Well done. It looks great, much more so for an inexpensive kit.
Thank you for your kind words. It looks ok doesn’t it. Thanks for connecting 🙏💪🍺
Go on son, me old ossie fella. Keep it how you want it....
Thanks cobber 😉 🦘🇦🇺
Great build! One of my favorite subjects to build is Anti-Aircraft weapons and now that this kit has been re-issued it is definitely on my wish list. Subscribed!
Thanks mate. It’s truly appreciated 🙏🍺
I learn SO much from your videos. Thank you.
You are so welcome! I love hearing people are finding them useful...so thanks to you Keith 🙏
I really like the way you explain and show procedures, very informative, and the results are amazing. Thank you.
Thanks Travis. Glad you are enjoying the content. Thanks for reaching out 🙏
That post shading technique over the weathering is really interesting. Pretty cool man.
And heck! They had to be clean at some point, so if that’s giving you joy making them that way and that’s all you have time for them that’s perfect 👌🏼
Thanks for connecting 🙏💪🍺
Great video and psinting process! Thanks and have a great weekend!
Thank you for your comments and connecting. You too 😎
Beautiful model. My hat off to you.
Thanks Alan. That’s very kind of you. Hope you’re enjoying the channel 🙏🍺
Man what an incredible finish. My next step is to start practicing oil dot filtering.
Thanks so much. Glad to hear you enjoyed it 🙏🍺
Frickin nice job. I'm going to get this now after what I've seen as I like using the M16 in lower tier in War Thunder. Thanks
Hey there! Go for it! I’m sure you’ll love it 🍺💪 thanks for sharing your thoughts
This really does look like a thing of beauty! I’ve never done a halftrack (although I should probably do one now) and this Looks like some great inspiration for any halftrack! Great work!
Thank you my friend. It’s truly appreciated 🙏💪☝️
Hi John. I can’t begin to tell you how touched I am reading that beautiful message. Thank you so much my friend. You have truly made my day 🙏🙏🙏🙏
That is fantastic feedback. When I started this channel I was concerned my Australian accent may be difficult for people to understand, so I make an effort to try and speak slowly and clearly, so I’m pleased to hear you are able to follow along. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. May I ask what language you speak? 🍺🙏🍀
@@workbenchhobbies4316 German, with a Swiss accent and a heavy induction in US-english, west coast style 😉 But spending a total of 6 months in Australia a long time ago still has me prepared 👍
Ha ha lucky for that small stint in Australia. Glad you have you along for the ride 😁
Great build, great technique with the painting and weathering. I have subscribed and liked the video. Thanks for sharing. Jim in Liverpool UK
Great news. Thanks for connecting and joining this community. Welcome aboard 👍🙏💪🍺
I'm very inspired by your build. I've got the Tamiya personel carrier version and the figures show their age, so im going to sctratch build a flat bed and rear ammo boxes and install the bronco Bofors 40mm
Thanks for reaching out. Your build sounds like it’s going to be sweet! 💪🍺🙏
Turned out fantastic mate, wish I could get my models that good.
Thanks mate, truly appreciated. Keep on building 🙏
bought this kit when it first came out great kit still have it but with all the utensils like correct paint weathering etc now availible my model needs reworking
The hobby has certainly evolved hasn’t it! Thanks for joining in and being part of this community 🙏💪🍀
Impressive work and end result Clayton, even if it is an OtB build, congrats 👍👏👏👏 look forward to the Tiger vid in due course 😃
Hadn’t heard the floor wax one before. Thanks for the suggestion 🙏🍺💪
Great build videos. I might have to buy one myself
Go for it! I'm sure you'll love it! Thanks for joining in 🙏
Congrats, once again, on a wonderful video!
Thank you! Cheers! 🥂
WoW awesome indeed, not sure if Ill ever win this but yeah love it, always loved the halftrack!!
Hey, thanks for your comment and connecting 🥳
Wow she really came out great even with out extra aftermarket stuff keep them coming. And I'm still waiting for mine to come in 😢so ill be lil late with my build
Hey there. Thanks for connecting. I’m sure yours will be in in no time!! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did 💪🍺🙏
The same quality in the tracks that people complain about, can ALSO be used to make a MUCH better final result.
Terrific insight. Thanks for joining in and taking the time to share 🙏
Great suggestions too by the way, but I have about 6 months worth of ‘scheduled builds lined up…
So many models so little time! 🫣
Appreciate your suggestions 🙏
@@workbenchhobbies4316 Ahh yes, the queue of future builds - I know the feeling. Mind you, if you could only squeeze one suggestion in - I reckon the Tamiya Bradley would be pretty topical - just saying 😉
I have actually got the new release Magic Factory Bradley to build for a review so that will be in my modelling life in the near future 😎
Looks amazing👍
Thanks Eric. Too kind 🙏
Great to see you again 🍺💪🙏
great finish mate!
Thank you for connecting 🙏
Looks good, especially with my old(er) eyes!!!
Thanks Steve! Nothing wrong with old eyes mate 🤓 Appreciate you connecting with me here in the channel
You know when you've just watched a quality build when it makes you want to rush out and buy the kit (and you don't even do armour)!!!
You do now 😉 Thanks so much for your kind words. I’m truly grateful 🙏💪🍺
So cool.
Thanks 🙏 glad you liked it ✌🏼
well done
Thank you!
Ya just can't beat the classics sometimes.
You know it 😎
Thanks!
Oh WOW! Thank you. That is very generous. I appreciate the support 🙏
Better than the box art.
Thanks Sean. Quite a compliment. 🙏🍺
Be sure to have some fun with it
I've got mine built and in primer so far. At 10:55 which of the VMS coarse pigments have you used?
Hi Andy, it is not an actual colour pigment, it is just a texture and the colour is coming from the enamel paint I am putting in it. I think there are only two types they produce - a coarse and a fine. You would be best to check out their website. There is a bonus code in the show notes if you wanted to give it a try.
@@workbenchhobbies4316 Thanks for your quick reply. I've had a look at the coarse ones on their website through your link. They each have a number and a description but I still can't tell which one you used. I understand how the process works now though 😀
Sorry. I’m away from home at the moment. Msg me through my Facebook page and I’ll let you know exactly what it is when I get back
👍👍👍
🙏
Looks sexy. Thanks for posting :)
Sexy! I’ll take that 😉😆 Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts 🙏
What's a "deckle"?
It’s Australian for decal (Dee-cal)Assuming you are familiar with the water slide decals? They are the things giving me my markings around the model
