Colm's vocal range is matched only by his sweater range.
Top comment 😁👍
I thought I was the only one who enjoyed his sweaters))
And the range of his instrumental talent.
I know I’m low-key super jealous of his awesome sweaters!
lol, best comment
Surprised no ones called a vote for Colm fans to call themselves, 'The Colmpany'.
They're a crew I'd serve with anyday🍻⚓💪 Incredible job as always my man.
'The Colmpany'--that's brilliant. I had heard 'Colmmaniacs' and 'Colmmunity', but 'The Colmpany' is definitely superior, lol.
@@grimwriter9763 This wins! Congratulations!
I´ll glady be your Colmpanion!
at least we are no Colmunists :-D
@@ColmRMcGuinness you should release a video that’s just a pronunciation guide for your name, because it’s probably not what 90% of your fans think haha
Colm is a real life D&D bard and you can't convince me otherwise
And not a groan worthy bard, but a respectable bard! Like Thom from Wheel of Time series
Imagine if he used vicious mockery.. his voice can get so deep he could straight up use the thu'um.
He certainly gives me much inspiration!
Good thing he is ain't the kind that fucking a dragon or too, a legend of bard is he is, Anyway have good day
And he has 21 on charisma.
Thanks again for listening everyone!
Will be putting up a full album stream at some stage next week after the release!
I just wanted to say how much I appreciate how kind and good mannered everyone in the chat for the premiere was. As most of you know, I don't (yet) have any mods and despite me being VERY late to the premiere, the chat was as mannerly, well behaved and welcoming to new viewers as ever, in my absence (special shoutout to the real MVP Cerridwen Rowan!). I'm incredibly proud of that to say the least. Secondly, I'd like to thank you all for your continued support during the lead up to finishing this second shanty album. You've given me an entire second career this year. One that I never thought I would ever have and words cannot describe how grateful I am. Hope you all have a great weekend, yis' beautiful individuals!
As always, leave you suggestions below! I'm going to be doing a LOT of collabs that I'm bursting at the seams to keep secret for the moment. Probably will be doing some more Film/TV/Game covers for the next wee bit, but more shanties/sea songs are always along the way.
Stay very handsome.
- Colm
Great song Colm! ❤ Can't wait for the album
Song suggestion:
Evermore from Beauty and the Beast.
You are the best!!!!!
You need to do merchandise that says, stay very handsome lol
Cerridwen definitely really keeps the chat all tidy and nice. I joined last week for the premiere and immediately started having such a good time. I love your work, your community your sweaters and just everything about this channel! I was exstatic to be able to join the premiere today as well… I hope to make it my weekly routine because it’s just such a damn refreshment! Thanks for all you do and thanks to all who support you in any way :)
Cheers!
Lyrics:
Kind friends and companions, come join me in rhyme
Come lift up your voices in chorus with mine
Come lift up your voices, all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
Here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let's drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let's drink and be merry, all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
Here's a health to the dear lass that I love so well
For her style and her beauty sure none can excel
There's a smile on her countenance as she sits on my knee
There is no man in this wide world as happy as me
Here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let's drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let's drink and be merry, all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
Our ship lies at anchor, she is ready to dock
I wish her safe landing without any shock
And if ever I should meet you by land or by sea
I will always remember your kindness to me
Here's a health to the company and one to my lass
Let's drink and be merry all out of one glass
Let's drink and be merry, all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again.
Thanks.
Time to sing along to this song with my dnd party lol

Thanks
This man is living testament to great Irish singers. God I adore Ireland and her people.
before i found colm, i thought ireland could get no better. a beautiful land full of beautiful ginger-haired girls, and this amazing man
@@R3ynardG I hope Ireland never changes her peoples looks! Perfection is difficult but somehow the Irish have attained it!
Well as an Irish person I presume you've never been to Ireland
@@Ashmurtagh100 stopped by Shannon once. Elderly couple bought me a Guinness!
@@Tommy1977777 well it's a nice river but not all of Ireland is so nice
My 9-month-old daughter absolutely loves you. Anytime she hears your voice she instantly calms down - and we parents are eternally grateful. :D
put out a baby calming album colm. you will sell alot.
@@Ganpignanus my parents had over ten of those because me and all my siblings had different singers that would calm us down lol!
the lass has fine taste
My now 4 year old was the same. He listens to other music now too, but whenever he was upset (all the way up to age 3), I'd put Colm on for him, and he'd calm right down and start smiling/laughing/dancing when he learned to stand and rock =)
I like how Colm manage to show more emotions singing than professional actors.
Yea he is "professional". He told on tik tok in one tutorial he is from Alaska and I believed long time. But he is from Ireland😅 "Im actually from Alaska"😂 that was good joke
This is my favourite all of the shanties i have heard and cant wait to hear this rendition
Same!!!!!!
Well it's more of a tavern song than a shanty, but I love it as well
@@aaronburdon221 Too me its just the end of Renaissance Fair song
Like a perfect combination of the Assassin's Creed version and the Longest Johns version along with a touch of Colmness.
“Come lift up your voices in chorus with mine”…
How heartfelt for the the times we are facing now…
May we lift up together in light in love. Thank you Colm for bringing beauty to our ears and a way for us to sing together…for there is beautiful power in that vibration!
I must agree with you on this one. Brings me nostalgia to the point of almost tearing up listening to this music. Would come home after a long and hard day at school and listen to this song in the background of a tavern in Assassin’s Creed Black flag
I used this song for a D&D campaign right before the players headed to the fight with the final boss. Probably one of the best moments of the campaign.
This brings back memories of working at the ren fair, singing this with the rest of the cast with a bard who is long dead now. It was good times.
This is so good, I get chills when the guitar drops at 2:20, its incredible
That's an Irish Bouzouki not a Guitar
You are an amazing singer Colm this song touches deep for me kind sir for I'm far from a country I wish to one day call home where the fields are green and far as the eye can see and the sound of the ocean gently lapping against the shores * stands in the forest her hazel eyes looks towards the clear blue sky as her brunette hair dances in the breeze *
I love this one so damn much. It's so blindingly sinister, even though the lyrics are basically positive spirited - and, more to the point, sung that way! He means it, does the singer. There's just something in the tone, in the register, that indicates A Lot of subtext.
I also like the register changes in the lead voice. I didn't think I would, but the more I listen to it, the more it grows on me. It displays a bit more of your range.
There's a bit of Irish history in that subtext, is all. This song, and others like The Parting Glass, were sung by those who parted in Ireland to become the great Irish Diaspora.
@@comradewindowsill4253 our family head was (we suspect) part of the Diaspora. He was recorded to have married in the 1880s in America. He mayve been the son of an immigrant also though because of the dates.
I think the word you meant was "ominous"
I'm a newer viewer, but every time I listen to one of your songs, I end up having it stuck in my head for like a month. First, it was Take Us Home, recently it was On The Railroad, and now (after having finally moved on from having The Longest John's version of this song out of the loop track in my head) I'm back to Here's a Health to the Company. And all I've got to say for it is thank you for the great music!
Me too... Then I have to memorize the words so I'm not repeating the same phrase. 😂💕
Take us home is my absolute favorite
I think he's brilliant , and has good tunes!
Me: drinking a Pepsi while listening to RUclips.
This rendition of this song: comes on.
Me: raises Pepsi and starts rocking it back and forth.
Me: after song welp my Pepsi is now flat and I have a mess to clean.
I always go into watching these videos thinking, "Oh, this will be amazing." Then it winds up being the most incredible thing I've ever heard pretty much every time, and I feel at a loss for words. I loved it.
Why is it that the bass is so prominent in "let us drink and be merry"? I don't know, but I LOVE it!
It sounds like there's a bass comes in and out. Sounds like a synthesizer set to cello.
Sipping a wee dram and found this...absolutely perfect, moving, extraordinary - slainte!
I've been listening to this for ages but that black background with your lighter, warm lighting really creates a brilliant, striking contrast
I am so excited! I look always look forward to hearing these! I have these playing in the background at work all the time! Colm is wicked talented!
Same here haha!
I am in love with your voice...I can literally hear it in loop
This song has such sentimental value to me, and you've done a gorgeous cover. Thank you!
Everyone is happy with your second career! We love the passion and artistry of your work. Keep it up! God Bless!!!
I'm just saying. Colm makes every song better than the original all by himself. 1 in a million me boy.
Wozers man your voice sounds like the crew of the jackdaw in ac Black flag damn fine work keep it up
Goddamn my man, I have a pretty high upper range personally but if I had the lows that you have I'd long since have drown in lovers nethers.
All jokes aside, I'm damned jealous of the bass notes you can hit. I may well tweedle like a bird when I so desire but I'll never play in those lower ranges and damned if I'm not man enough to admit it.
Omg intoxicating. Blasting my ears out
I sing this song every final night at ren fairs. I meet with my friends, we grab a flag on and tears come a rollin.. well sung bard!
This one closes the Pub Sing at the Great Lakes Medieval Faire every evening!!!
It remind me so much good memories from Assassin's Creed Black flag, thank you Colm.
Encore! Encore! An absolute honor to listen to you! Thank you friend!⚘⚘⚘
Colm's eyebrows have six-packs.
Love it!!
Eyyy cheers, brother bear! High praise coming from yourself!
Absolutely love the song since I heard it in 2016 first time one night on kiel week at the british pub area. Perfectly describes the uniqueness of pub friendships that might only last an evening but will forever be a memory one might be fond of for years.
It came naturally to memorize because of the wonderful togetherness that is expressed in song and lyric.
As a german lady 'tis not easy to pronounce it right. Yet the most precious and humbling moment with that tune was after I dared singing it on a trad session in Feakle im 2017 and the whole pub joined in the refrains. That just gave me goosebumps every turn. One of the elders came over later and telling me it was quite surprising to hear a german youngster (just turned 39 that year 😂) singing like an old irish sailor. It was a magical night with loads of great tunes, Guinness and dance
Thank you, Cara, for reminding me of those and many more beautiful memories of a precious solo trip to the most beloved piece of earth... the emerald isle ☘❤🇨🇮 when this pandemic is over it would be great to come "home" to the irish music at it's best...in the motherland of ballads, jigs and reels. Slainté
I remember another much loved Irish man, singer, who had a passion for jumpers. Val Doonican.
I just came back from a walk at the beach across the road from my house. so a welcome and timely song. :)
A beautiful song written by beautiful people living in one of the most beautiful lands on earth. God bless you brother.
I'm more partial to The Longest John's version of this tune (I think it's the only one between them and Colm, honestly) since it fits a bit more with the melancholy I felt moving away from my childhood home and all my friends and family. However, Colm gives off an air of mission. The people singing this version of the song aren't moving away; they're going to accomplish something. Be it a war or a conquest or a rescue or just a shipment job, they plan on coming back, and the power of their community is what will get them (mostly) through.
In shorter words: though it's not my favorite, I must say you did a fantastic job and my hat is off to you!
Of all the versions I’ve listened to, this is my favourite; No other catches the melancholy inherent in the melody as well as Colm.
Brilliant as always, Colm! I keep missing the premieres, but I assure you I'm listening with a vengeance as soon as I can, ha. This one sounds glorious with the fiddle. 10/10, and looking forward to the new album!! God bless! Edit: oh my goodness, I finished typing this just as the last line played and that key change at the end there 'bout sent me over the edge. Good GRAVY that was glorious.
The Handsome Colmpany - Here's to your health and all of your lasses.
Beautifully done Colm.
Four people have never been invited to a party before and therefore have no one to drink with.....
I listen every Song with headphones...goosebumps..everytime. love it
Absolutely stunning!!
My boys, ages 2 and 3 months, both love your songs so much. My two year old will come running when he hears you sing.
Wow! Another one to add to the playlist thank you!!!🍻💜
I swear I have listened to this song at least 200 times
Hey there, Colm! Another great video, I really loved the harmony/vocal layering work you did for this song. The tempo seemed a bit faster than other versions of the song I'm familiar with, but it served it well!
10/10 and, as always, I am forever envious of those comfy sweaters. Cheers!
Your soulmate is here, my friend. Absolutely agree with you. This shanty is one of my favourite too. I heard a number of versions of it. However, I should say that I find his cover very compelling!!
Perfect in every way… There’s no one other words to do this justice.
My mother had audio cassettes of folk songs spanning a number of decades. I loved them and miss listening to them. Your music would not be out of place among them. I love it and thank you for sharing it!
THANK YOU!!!! I LOVE THIS sONG!
If i may make a request, good sir, The Curse? Its another sea shanty
Now that I hear this song at the end if the year everyone will have one last meeting because everyone going over sea to work so this actually made me cry because this is something I sing on that day and hope they join in. Because anything can happen over sea and this last part made me cry because its so true for we or might never all meet here in our home country again this is beautiful thank you thank you for the beautiful song and for the tears my man love it
Think I have repeated this at a minimum of 100 times this weekend. Makes me want to be at a bar or English pub to hear this live and just go non-stop for the evening.
You are my favorite Singer!!! Wowwww
I LOVE this song, but almost never hear it. Thank you for doing it justice! This is definitely going on repeat. If you do Queen of Argyle and The Soldier and the Sailor, I can die happy.
The Bard on the last night in the tavern before the party confronts the BBEG.
Oh this is amazing! Heard this song earlier in the year at ren faire and fell enchanted by it!
a ginger got good love your work mate hope to hear more for many more years
Amazed again. The number of instruments you are proficient and the number of jumpers are not matched by anyone of the planet.

Come lift up your voices all grief to refrain
For we may or might never all meet here again
Here's a health to the company and one to my lass

Ive had this on repeat all day. Dear god this is a blessing of a song hahaha
This is just as good as the Longest John’s version.
Yes. To state the least. Both have unique variances that make it hard to say. I like what this guy does with his voice at the end. Caught me off-guard at first. 😌🍀
Now this is what I would call a sea shanty!!! great job, mate!
You Sir are a treat.
This is the closing song at the Medieval Faire nearby every night! This gives me wonderful feels.
Colm, Thank you for making the music you do, It makes me happy every time I hear you play a song! Keep making this music and keep making people remember the true meaning of music
What a happy/catchy song :) I absolutely love it, "let us drink and be merry!"
Thanks friendo! Hope all is well on your end! 🙏
@@ColmRMcGuinness Thanks friendo! Same to you :D
Short and sweet, and I loved the timbre you put into your voice. Thanks Colm!
Colm is always on point.
Sounds like Firefly, amazing!
That closer! WWWOOOOOO!
I love this! Now I want to hear him sing Spanish Ladies
This song would have fit in when my close friends an I shared a final drink before we all moved to different parts of the country. Love it.
Keep coming back to this video. Aside from being an amazing song and outstanding rendition, the visual aesthetics add to it as well, reminding me of the sheer talent Colm has. Incredible vocal range and multi-Instrumentalist. Also, should release tabs for that guitar. Please?
I think if you did a cover of "O, Death" it would be awesome!
A collab with Pentatonix would be a dream come true
PLEASE PLEASE I HAVE A REQUEST :

Beautiful❤🎶
Beautiful Colm. You see me smile.
The flute (piccolo?) really does it for me and its a nice bridge for your high part.
Happy, that you are happy. Cheers from FRG

One of the best bits of the song was that last line, not sure why but it hits me more than any other version of the song
back at it again appreciating the trifecta of voice range, sweater range, and instrumental range.
All that talent and vast sweater collection ....but does this great man own a t shirt 😁
Health to you most talented sir👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🥃
This us one my favorites for ren faires.
After so long I still love and play black flag been playin since it came out when I was a kid. Great singing man
Can you do For the Dancing and the Dreaming from How to Train Your Dragon next?
Was finally ready to cry today. You published this the day after I found out a dear friend of mine from the SCA passed away. Thank you for helping me let him go. :: pours one for the fallen and takes a shot for the standing::
Ohhhhhh, damn, I love it! 🤩 Thank you so much Colm!
Just....wow!
This song has my favorite chorus of any of the songs produced by Colm so far, both slightly melancholy and yet still looking forward towards the future.
one of my favorite lads, covering one of my favorite songs, in what is now one of my favorite covers! Beautiful as always, you have yet to disappoint. might i suggest "The Kingfisher" by Schooner Fare? i think you'd do a marvelous rendition.
Awesome cover as always. Here's a suggestion: Rye Whiskey from The Pirates Charles, so it's the pirate version
I'm singing this while playing Lethal Company with the boys
Absolutely beautiful! This is my absolute favorite tavern song of all time and you just made it a million times better. Great work as always Colm!
I just found this song a couple weeks ago!! I love your rendition!!!
Make "Bella Ciao" Bass Version Please
I notice that the tun of this song is almost identical to "maid of culmore" that Celtic Thunder used to perform.
Man there's something about this one. The lyrics on their own are pretty cheerful, "There's no man in this wide world as happy as me." But on the other hand it feels so mournful, I think because of the "we might never all meet here again." That unspoken 'Any happiness we might be feeling right now is absolutely temporary and might not so much as survive the night" resonates probably harder than it should.
Having heard the Longest Johns version, theirs seems wistful if somber, this one sounds like we're having one last night out before we invade Normandy.
