About The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies:
Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson returns to Middle-earth with the final of three films based on J.R.R. Tolkien's enduring masterpiece. Set in Middle-earth 60 years before the epic Lord of the Rings trilogy, the adventure follows the journey of Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of dwarves on a journey into wild, treacherous lands swarming with beasts of every ilk. After reaching Erebor and encountering the dragon Smaug, Five Armies assemble for an epic battle that could decide the future of all in Middle-earth.

The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit Trilogy's will be remembered as the greatest movies ever for me. Its sad to see them go. sniff
I know its sad but most likely there will be lord of the rings and the hobbit remakes in the future
yeah I guess.
No movie remake could ever come close to giving the kind of feelings and connections we have, having grown up watching viggo as Aragorn or Orlando as Legolas has made an impact in our lives :') any remake would ruin the trilogy
randomness1577 your very right
randomness1577 how can a new trilogy ruin the originals?
"I will not say do not weep, for not all tears are an evil."

"I will NOT say do not weep"* Completely undid the quote, haha.

Gandalf taught me to guide others
Frodo taught me how to carry on when the going gets tough
Sam taught me how to be brave
Merry and Pippin taught me friendship is more valuable than gold
Boromir taught me that actions speak louder than words
Legolas taught me how to be perceptive
Gimli taught me to carry on fighting no matter what
Aragorn taught me how to be courageous and to never despair
Dain taught me that goats are cool. 🐐🔨
Aragon's courageousness is stepping on Sam's bravery. It would been better to say that Aragorn is about taking responsibility. Also, Gimli's lesson could be more apt to his behaviour, such as letting go of your prejudices. So yeah, these need tweaking but otherwise really nice idea.

MaximusOfCaceres I know it will never happen, because Tolkien's son has the rights and won't sell them or give them away, and it would be a pretty hard thing to do, but PROPERLY done could be sick, where the main characters are also at risk(bit like game of thrones).* But still they would need a pretty big budjet to do so. I will say this last goodbye
Night is now falling
So ends this day
The road is now calling and I must away
Over hill and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the Sea
Under cloud, beneath the stars
Over snow and winter's morn
I turn at last to paths that lead home
And though where the road then takes me
I cannot tell
We came all this way
But now comes the day
To bid you farewell
Many places I have been
Many sorrows I have seen
But I don't regret
Nor will I forget
All who took that road with me
Night is now falling
So ends this day
The road is now calling
And I must away
Over hill and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the Sea
To these memories I will hold
With your blessing I will go
To turn at last to paths that lead home
And though where the road then takes me
I cannot tell
We came all this way
But now comes the day
To bid you farewell

+kate k It isnt bad its just made diffrent and for more people... LOTR is more for people who already are familliar with Tolkiens world. The Hobbit is more filled with action than with internal book stuff . You know what i mean ?
But LOTR stays the best Fantasy Trillogy, it created the fantasy as we know in Movies
No i don't know what you mean. I saw LOTR when i was 11 and had never read any books in the series. The Hobbit looks cartoonish and much more pixar than LOTR. It looks fake and shiny. Its like comparing Alien to Prometheus or Matrix to Matrix Reloaded, its not the same. The hobbit trilogy is OK but i will never have an annual rewatch of the extended versions like i do with LOTR.

If Tolkien were alive to see just how much effort was put into bringing his stories to life, and knowing how beloved they'd become, I think he could pass on even happier.
Jay Yep, two of the best end-series songs ever. We will miss Middle-Earth.
Jay You are absolutely right.
I don't think he would like the hobbit movies, though his son didn't like them, I think Tolkien would have liked would have liked the LOTR trilogy.
Jay he would probably think that howard shore wrote music he would agree with and might think that he couldve written the scores for the movies
Noah Brown I agree to some extent. To me, Tolkien would have loved the Lord of the Rings movies, for The Hobbit, while he would probably appreciate the effort put forth, would be a little disappointed. Though it will forever remain unclear to me if Tolkien would've enjoyed the Bakshi version of the Lord of the Rings.

RIP King Theoden ❤
And thus our Journey ended. As the lights returned to the theater, and as Billy began to sing, I realized that my Journey in Middle Earth was over. A Journey that had begun long ago, in 2001. And a Journey that ended on 2014. A Journey of swords and armor, of Light against Dark, of Hope against Evil.
We saw so much of Middle Earth in just six short movies, and in those short movies we saw characters breathed to life that we might never have seen. The Grace of the Elves, and that same Grace failing against the Might of the Shadow. Of Men's struggle against their own, of a dying line that redeemed itself, and Gondor restored to glory. The Elves leaving this world forever, and returning home.
It was not my vision of Middle Earth, but Jackson's. But it was a journey through the lands and people I loved, and for that I cannot thank him, and the cast enough.
So our Journey ends, as all journey's must eventually. Time passes on, and our lives will continue. We will always have our Fellowship, those that watched and love the lands of Middle Earth, but nothing will allow us to visit those times of our first Journey, except to lead someone else to these books, to these movies, and walk the Journey we know oh so well, and relive the bitter sweet memories of what comes, and live the Journey again through them.
Thank you Peter Jackson, and the Cast of The Lord of the Rings. I doubt any of you will see this, but collectively, you all have made me laugh, and cry, to cheer and weep, more then any series, movie, or song I have listened to before or since. Thank you. I did not want an ending, but if it had to be....I am glad it was this one. It was more adventure then I deserve....but I am glad I could take part in it.

“The prime motive was the desire of a tale-teller to try his hand at a really long story that would hold the attention of readers, amuse them, delight them, and at times maybe excite them or deeply move them.” -from the foreword to the 2nd Edition of The Lord of the Rings (1966)
This song marks the end of my childhood. Tolkien's story will remain with me forever. Damn, can't stop crying.
i feel you with that. i remember looking forward to december for for lord of the rings for 3 years. saw the first one in theatre with my father 3 times beforw it released to dvd. lord of the rings will always have a huge piece of my heart.
its how i feel every time i watch this video...its torture but i can not help but listen to it
I feel you man. Ugh i miss it a lot.
Oh, it's not all that bad - the real jourmey has only just begun.
I will not say: do not weep;
for not all tears are evil.
Over the last six months or so, my life's become nothing but work, and I lost the magic I once saw in the world. I wanted nothing to do with stories or fairytales, I wanted to complete my work and be left alone. For the third time in the 17 years of my life everything became dark again, hollow thoughts of suicide entered my mind again... But last night my family were playing songs on youtube, and my mother chose this. I watched, seeing all the characters I had grown to love on the screen once again and I began to cry.
Not all who wander are lost, and now that I have found myself again, I intend to wander for the rest of my life. Thank you Tolkien, thank you Peter Jackson, thank you cast and crew of all Lord of the Rings movies, you've reminded me of who I am, and I can never repay you enough for the joy and magic you've given me.
Thank you.
+Flamer Brony Just wait until you grow older...
It's gonna get a whole lot worse.
But there's drugs and hookers for that :D
Obviously, i joke. Drugs and hookers make it even more depressing.
+Flamer Brony I would suggest that you look to the source and inspiration of Tolkien's work, which is the faith that was so important to him: the faith in God the father, God the son, and God the Holy Spirit.
+Flamer Brony I to, am a Wanderer. Have been my entire life for lots of reasons. We are not lost, but trying to find our space in crazy world. I too, work a lot, but when I come home, a lot of times I will watch LOTR, and just kinda get lost in it. I think you need that. Forget what happened today, and go someplace else, even if just for awhile. You have to find a balance. I first read LOTR 45 years ago, at least. In high school Lit, required reading. What Peter Jackson did was bring all this to life! Tolkien was not trying to change the world or anything like that. He just had a heck of a story to tell. Fantastic. Stay strong my friend. I think you will be just fine!
+Flamer Brony 17 years old..wait till you get older you will see just how shitty life can be. It will start once you hit your 20s and everybody around you starts dying off. You'll start working 8 to 5, come home, eat, sleep, and do the same thing every day. The years go by fast. Prepare yourself.
Beautiful. I agree... Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to bring a lotr book..:)
I hope you live a wonderful life since I know what you're/ you've gone through..:) And always remember, you're not alone:)...
Thank you, Billy Boyd! Middle-earth always in my heart! ❤ Writing in September 2023!
This was playing as my husband began his last journey home. The last movie we saw together was 'the Battle of Five armies'. I had no idea that he would leave us for ever. He loved all Tolkien's stories and I bid him a very fond farewell.
I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s a perfect song to say goodbye to someone beloved. Buts it’s not goodbye - just “til we meet again” 🥲
Read the books.. you will find you husband in there
"Who is this Thorin Oakenshield?"
"He... *He was my friend"*
Anyone who is reading this I hope you are blessed. This song is very meaningful to me. Maybe it's time to turn at last to paths that lead home.
And here's to you 🍺
One day, we will all finally arrive at the home we have traveled, toiled and fought so long and hard for. May every step of your journey there be blessed richly.

Blessings back to you...

My son and I were (are) LOTR and Hobbit fans...books, music and movies. He died last year, at 22. We played "Into the West" at his calling hours and "The Last Goodbye" at the funeral among other songs. Those two songs will always be special to me
I'm really sorry for your loss, as Theoden once said, no parent should bury their child
Sorry for ur loss. I wish well for your son and hopes he becomes content 😌
Donna Piaggi I'm so sorry for your loss, but I'm glad you could both enjoy the amazing world of middle earth together
My sincere condolences on the loss of your son. It is never easy to lose your child before their time. Those were very good choices to be played for him. He was probably there singing along as he gave his family one last hug goodbye before going Home.
This is the saddest thing I have ever read. Really sorry for your lost!
My father died a few weeks back. I let the song play at his funeral. And now i always have to think about my father when i hear this song. This song will always have a very special place in my heart.
Bernard Hill utterly embodied Theoden, he was perfectly cast "“Arise, arise, riders of Théoden! Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered! A sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!”.
People say this song is a merry conclusion to the Hobbit. They"re wrong : it's a pippin conclusion to the Hobbit.
I see what you did there😂
@Gage Garner OH MY GODS
snifffffffffffffffffffffff hack cough sputter is that a pun i smell?
@Gage Garner IIRC the Party Tree was cut down by Sharky's thugs-- so one of Sam's Mallorns gets to bear some strange fruit.
Yes, passers by, I know you are confused if you haven't read the books.
@Gage Garner wth. Didnt He and merry live until 120-ish years old and die. Then when aragorn die both were entombed next to him
Rest in peace Christopher Tolkien. His night has now fallen, and he has taken his own grey ship into the blessed West. Namarie 😥
😭😭😭
He and his father should never, ever be forgotten,i would talk to my kids about tolkiens and all new universe they create
Amen
Humans are forbidden to make that journey, but I'm sure an exception was made for the Tolkiens
He goes to vallinor 😔😔😢😢😭
R.I.P. Bernard Hill ❤
“End? No, the journey does not end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The gray curtain pulls back and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it… White shores, and beyond a far green country into a swift sunrise.”
I have always love this.
i cry every time. every freaking time. because for me, it wasn't just movies. the lotr trilogy was my childhood. it carries so many memories, so many emotions. and i will treasure it until my memory fades and my old mind forgets it all.
Same here the memories are just too strong to ignore.
Oh and dont worry, I'm pretty sure you will never forget :)
I'm so glad others feel this way too, they really are a life experience, not just movies. Love them forever!
musicaddictor same here it's kind of sad the memory's will fade it's so sad because it's a big part of our lives
musicaddictor it's the same for me ;)
Same here I will always remember the lotr and will hold on to those memories
I'm not crying, I'm washing my eyes!
Best comment ever right here.
crying in the rain
me too!
I can't stand to see The Lord of the Rings go...
your not washing your eyes, you're cleaning your soul
Absolutely the best ending Song, for an amazing Series, *EVAH!*
Saw this trilogy with a friend. He's passed on now. This song is very special to me and I'm sure to many others.
I Wish I Lived In That World....
i know how you feel. thinking about such a vast, beautiful and captivating world, always makes me wistful
I wish i lived in your world =( My world is just death.
Thats the beauty of the mind, you can control it. Never forget that x
I wish I lived there to but only in our minds
i wanna be there physically, but the only problem is i would miss my friends.
I think Billy Boyd touches far more peoples hearts with this than he thinks.
😢
I agree. I’ve heard this before a thousand times. But today for some reason this song brings tears to my eyes.
No one could have said that better....
soo true..
Same with Peter Jackson and J.R.R Tolkien. If they only knew..
TIL that he was also Pippin, I agree entirely
Christopher Lee (Saruman) : 2015
Jean Piat (French voice actor as Gandalf) with a unique and unforgettable voice : 2018
Ian Holm (Bilbo Baggins) : 2020
Bernard Hill (King Theoden) : 2024
The whole humanity will never forget you, Farewell our true Kings ! ❤😢👑
To have Billy Boyd pull the curtains on the six movies is.....purrfect...precious!
These arent tears! Theres just a hell of a lot of onions in here!
Srsly though, this is a beautiful song to sum up all 6 movies and make one big tribute for all the fans, cast and crew! Without Tolkein though, The Hobbit and LOTR would never have existed. Thank you Tolkein, thank you Jackson and the rest of the cast and crew for making Middle-Earth real!
Oh, I gave up on the Oscars in 2007 when "The Golden Compass" (a movie NO ONE saw) over the first "Transformers" movie (which EVERYONE saw).
And my hatred for their disconnection only deepened in 2014 when "The Lone Ranger" (which was hated and scorned) was nominated over "Pacific Rim" (which gained enough traction at least to get a sequel) for SFX.
Dude you are so right!!! Man i will friggin join the raid to the theater with Dwarves! Man im just glad i live when the last movie of the best trilogy on earth is being releas... im crying now srry
Haha well said!
EVAUnit4A The oscars don't depend on how many people saw a movie so the golden compass vs transformers is moot. Also the lone ranger vs pacific rim is also kind of silly because in the end what pacific rim even was was just a cliche super predictable blob of VFX things punching eachother. At least The Lone Ranger tried to be something more and I personally liked it much more.
Lorde will win it for hunger games...
"Ya ya ya hunger games ya ya ya!"
"Can you sing, Master Hobbit?"
"Well... yes. At least, well enough for my own people. But we have no songs for great halls and... evil times."
We do now.
WTF is this then?
Andy Serkis: we is baaaak, Precious!
Rest in peace Bernard Hill, our King ❤
One does not simply hold his tears after watching this.
well said lord dhruv patel
You shall pass!
I simply smile remember fondly at how the stories of middle Earth has brighten my life despite the darkness that has clouded my life. And now it gives me that bravery to face that darkness so that I may bask in the light one more time.
yeah obviously

Dear Peter Jackson, Thank you. Thank you for 3 glorious movies about the lord of the rings and 3 movies that make the Hobbit. I wouldn’t want any other person to create and build this universe. So Thank you Peter. Thank you so very very much.
My dad would sing this song to me and my siblings to sleep. He almost died last year from meningitis and this was the the song that helped me from crying and now I'm 12 and he lived. He's 40 now. If this doesent play at his funeral then it wasn't Corey blairs funeral.
