That word underrated pops up all the time. He has worked with Rufus and Quincy Jones. Yet you say he's underrated because he wasn't on the cover of some magazine.
Bobby Watson seems like a really nice guy, like the current host Michael Lemo. Bringing in a person who can really play the instrument is a great idea. So much better than "Mr. Authentic," who used to just make snarky comments about the bass and bass players.
Always loved his playing.. now that I see him "in person" I admire him even more.. he looks like an all around fantastic guy to hang out with! A great bass for a great bassist!
That bass... Through most of this video, watching it, I just kept saying to myself under my breath '63 or 1963 in something like disbelief. Amazing bass in amazing condition, better condition than I'm in and I left mother's factory in early January of '68.
Bass is great. Seeing Bobby Watson here is cool, too. I remember trying to stay awake for every DK's Rock Concert or MidNight Special. Missed some but DID see Rufus before Tell Me Something Good blew up on one or the other. heck, crowd including me chuckled at Chaka's wardrobe choice and the band, too, That all stopped as soon as they played. Ruled !!
Hell yeah that was great. Norm is cool and he sure has a lot of buddies. lol Always liked Norm just not some of the guys who work or worked for him. ;) Love Lemmo though. Good guy!
This is the best Thumpin Thursday I have ever seen! Please get me professional basis in for Thumpin Thursday - - that should be a prerequisite to determine whether or not you actually are doing one! And I don't even like Thumpin Thursday normally!
That's a great price for that Bass. I sold my 63 P Bass last year at the Philly guitar show and almost got that for it. Although the 63 cases were almost white with black trim. I would question whether the case is original. Although Fender may have used different color cases in 63, I'm not sure about that. Awesome Bass.
Man, I miss Mark. Hope he's doin all right. You're kickin ass Lemmo. Only guy who could fill his shoes. Great players here. Funky shit goin on, open a window! Can we hear that white Flying V hangin up there on the wall??
I Wanna Rock With You by Michael Jackson is one of the greatest bass tracks in music history, Bobby Watson is a legend
His enthusiasm alone makes me want to buy that bass cuz I don't have the money or any idea how to play it
Real nice guy with a real nice Bass.
Tell me something good.
Lasagna with red wine.
Alright. This is my favourite guest host episode ever. Damn, that's what bass playing is.
Mr. Watson you sir are a class act and an inspiration to all aspiring Bass players. Absolutely fantastic
One of the most underrated bassist on the planet! Why he never made the cover of Bassplayer Magazine beats me!
That word underrated pops up all the time. He has worked with Rufus and Quincy Jones. Yet you say he's underrated because he wasn't on the cover of some magazine.
Norm, Bobby is your bass man from now on for thumping Thursday.
my favorite bass player yet on thumping thursday. we need more of him!
Yep, lets have Bobby on again.
Nice to see this. I guess both you guys knew my old friend Marlo Henderson. We hung from way back in the Denver days. Great to see you Bobby!
Bobby Watson and Robin Duhe are my favorite bass players (and of my two favorite groups) of ALL TIME! No one grooves like them.
Idk why but his bass playing is so compelling. So refreshing.
Best Thumping Thursday I've seen thus far, HANDS DOWN!
One of my ALL TIME FAVORITES. Mr Watson 💪🏾
Love it. He just turned into a little boy. Lovely bass!
Bobby Watson seems like a really nice guy, like the current host Michael Lemo. Bringing in a person who can really play the instrument is a great idea. So much better than "Mr. Authentic," who used to just make snarky comments about the bass and bass players.
Who was Mr authentic?
Always loved his playing.. now that I see him "in person" I admire him even more.. he looks like an all around fantastic guy to hang out with! A great bass for a great bassist!
Best episode of thumpin ever
Okay, best thumpin' Thursday EVER.
Bobby pointed out the hootenanny strap button on the back of the headstock. Awesome!
He should be our #ThumpinThursday guest everytime
That was really cool.
Wow! Bobby Watson on You Tube doing what he does best - playing that bass!
Nothing better than watching artists in their element. Outstanding!

P.S. That's too clean for Fender Custom Shop. //Revisiting this video a year later.
Love how he asked the price :-)
Fantastic Thumpin’ Thursday!
So cool--bobby sounds a little like hendrix when he sings. GREAT episode, starring a sweetheart bass and a first class bassist. Thank you.
Sorry edibles... you’ve been schooled.
A real professional bass player👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
I’ve always dug Rufus, so it makes sense that a guy like Bobby is their bass player! Greatest people come through the doors at Norms!
I hope they'll be back, that was great!
I also hope he went home with that bass.
That Bass is a thing of pure beauty....
Down to earth,
Bob

Really enjoyed this episode! I like it when you bring in some real pros who are really excited about the instrument being featured.
Some player and what a nice natural guy. I'd buy his hit medley!

Yes that was Mr Bobby Watson. He worked with Quincy Jones quite a bit.

@@wilkowilkins363 It's my weekly ritual mate haha
Awesome bassist.
I’m not even a bass player and now want to buy that bass😂😂😂
PRA QUEM NÃO CONHECE ESSE SENHOR: ELE FEZ A LINHA DE ROCK WITH YOU DO MICHAEL JACKSON...
MONSTRO...
Michael Jackson estava muito bem acompanhado de dois tocadores de contra baixo que são: Bobby Watson e Louis Johnson no álbum Off The Wall
I have a request: play "Thunderbirds Theme" by The Shadows next TT and I'll donate to Norm's charity.
Old school .👍
He is so fucking cool.
Man, I miss Mark. Hope he's doin all right. You're kickin ass Lemmo. Only guy who could fill his shoes. Great players here. Funky shit goin on, open a window! Can we hear that white Flying V hangin up there on the wall??
He starts off with “funky broadway” by Wilson Pickett
I have an American standard p bass with the same looks but a maple board and it sounds so different. I need an old p bass.
Bobby Watson is the bass player from Rufus featuring Chaka Khan.
That's some serious credentials. I hope they bring him back for more Thursdays.
Also played for Michael Jackson.
i want bobby to live next door.
