    I Think most of the hate comes from the price out the figure. It has the same defects you'd expect to find on a 100 bucks figure but they are not as forgivable on a 450 figure

      i would say you are being too modest,i think ALL the hate is down to the price.people who cant afford to buy this are looking to jump on any negative and blow it out of proportion.its a psychological thing.if they can convince themselves its not worth the money then the fact its out of their range becomes meaningless.there could also be a case of conformation bias,they bought the cheaper alternate versions of the figure so the need to scoff at anyone who would dare pay more for something similar.i am lucky enough to be in a position to have purchased all three of these new primes and MP44 is by far the best of the bunch.MS/TE both look like prime,but MP44 IS prime.there are soo many people trying their hardest to make a big deal out of the paint chipping and the knee thing,it almost comically i will try to address this here.1.the paint unfortunately this is going to be an issue when dealing with any fully painted figure where things have to move past other things or painted parts need to tab into other painted parts,even the mighty fans toys are not exempt from this problem,so maybe the only real solution to this is to not have fully painted figures but that would be a conversation for another time.2.the knee breakage ,im going to be quite blunt with this one so apologies in advance,figures do not break,they get broken so if you break your toys,suck it up and take it on the chin,anyways sorry for the short novel but sometimes this fandom makes me sick to my stomach

  • @thugg4lif
    @thugg4lif 5 лет назад +22

    If this was 250 everyone would upgrade and you wouldn’t have complaints. But it doesn’t match 450 standards and there is a better option out there with cleaner sculpt and cheaper

    For me what this shows is Tamara is no longer the best company to buy your transformers from. Their figures just aren’t up to snuff compared to most of the other companies out right now. Especially price wise. They’ve priced themselves out of the contest. This again is of course my opinion. I’m sure I’m probably in the minority saying that. But it’s truly how I feel. Transformers belongs to the 3rd and 4th party now. With Takara and hasbro being left behind.

    • @tydiriumhanger1320
      @tydiriumhanger1320  5 лет назад +2

      I do agree that 3p is keeping the hobby alive for sure! Takara is doing some things different with this release and I bet we see others follow suit with the articulation. Would be interesting to see what Fanstoys could do with a prime? Thanks

    • @DetectiveBarricade
      @DetectiveBarricade 5 лет назад +1

      The added paint, electronics, and accessories have driven the price up to be sure. (though those and the added complexity probably aren't the full story) While granted most of the accessories Prime comes with do make sense, nearly all of them are probably going to remain in the trailer's storage compartment. (which in of itself may be stored in a closet somewhere unless you want to display the full truck mode and the room to do it)
      I'd happily leave those out if it made the thing cheaper, as nice of a touch as it is to have a voice box that does spout a couple of lines from Peter Cullen. (which leads me to ask why didn't MP36 Megatron or MP42 Beast Wars Megatron have lines from Frank Welker and David Kaye respectfully?)

    • @tydiriumhanger1320
      @tydiriumhanger1320  5 лет назад +1

      @@DetectiveBarricade I really feel that the KO companies which added Frank Welker's voice to mp36 inspired Takara to include Peter Cullen. Just a hunch! Thanks

    • @DetectiveBarricade
      @DetectiveBarricade 5 лет назад

      @@tydiriumhanger1320 Then can they get on to including David Kaye's voice into MP42? And possibly also less fear of a cracking crotch? (though hopefully it's only with the first few hundred copies and Takara caught and fixed it somehow by then)

    Most of the hate is the ridiculous price tag, with a touch of denial mixed in. I don't own 44 and I'm not buying it. I'm sticking with Magic Square until 44 gets KO'd.
    With that in mind I'm not laboring under the delusion that my MS-01 is better. 200$ is the point where I start feeling uncomfortable buying a toy, so 450$ pushes way past my comfort zone. My collection is reaching "it's good enough" might not be the best version but I'm done replacing shit.

  • @keithgatlin3525
    @keithgatlin3525 5 лет назад +9

    It’s been said before but the hate comes from the quality with that price tag. IMO the paint ( which is absolutely beautiful ) & the G1 look is where this version shines. This the official, this is suppose to be the Prime if Primes leaving no doubt who is the best. This does not do that. I just hope this does not set a new standard for Takara, good to ok figure painted beautifully but charge more money than it’s worth just cause they can.

    That's something to think about with the proper transformation. Maybe a topic worth exploring because I damaged a figure out of the box one time myself being hardheaded thinking I already knew what to do.

  • @ricky865
    @ricky865 5 лет назад +6

    I think the other problem is the transformation wish is more complicated than TE-01. I think that's part of the reason this figure is so expensive is there charging you half for the ingenearing because of how complex the transformation is. Also it has electronics. Look at MP-10 it's has a pretty simple transformation and it's still consider one of the best figures ever made.

    • @tydiriumhanger1320

      @@tydiriumhanger1320
      Yes cause I was thinking:
      MP-1 wend it came out it cost like $50 to $70.
      MP-4 was the same figure jus whit a trailer so let's say $100
      MP-10 cost $225 to $275 whit the trailer and that was ok still alittle bit pricey. But then came MP-44
      MP-44 cost $450 that to expensive even whit everything it includes. What I think they are doing is there charging $225 for the figure and $225 for the ingenering.

    It's seems as if no matter what new figure comes out, somebody's going to hate on it. Like you said people were hating on the mp Megatron when it came out. The paint was chipping off of that. People complained about the Fanstoys Motor Master's back pack, the new Mp Bumblebee's feet, Mp 44's knees, price and so on. Why can't we just be happy for people no matter what figure you choose to get. We're just having fun here! At this time, my MP-44 does not have any major defects. Both my lower knee joints seem to be working correctly. I do not seem to have any paint chips nor any paint flakes during transformation. I will admit, I have been super careful because I have heard of all the difficulties. • @jamawebb13
      @jamawebb13 5 лет назад

      @@tydiriumhanger1320 Well... If I was not aware of the issues in advance, I'm not sure that I wouldn't have had the knee breakage or paint chips... Being aware, I was able to be extra careful. Some of the knee issues seem to be from improper usage. That said, I do think that there has been a running change on the knees. I got mine from HLJ and my understanding is that it was a 2nd shipment. Paint, just is always an issue with Takara MP... or any kind of product for that matter. If it is painted, it CAN chip. I am just always careful with my collection. I was surprised to not have the typical "paint dust" after transformation. We shall see how it holds up over the next few weeks.

However, on the back of one of the ankles, it looks like it was painted by a toddler. It’s horrible. I contacted amazon, it will cost me $150+ to ship it back. Which they claim I will be reimbursed. I never got the trailer for it, so I said would never get an MP 10, or else it was a gift, which I never got by the way.

    Hey Mike…
    Bang out video as usual man.
    Responding to your vid…
    (1) I kind of disagree with you on the results of your poll in regards to people being loyalist to Has/Tak. I don’t think that’s the full truth. I have a couple TE’s… but I still have my MP-10 on display because I’ve had so much going on where I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet. It’s 1 of those figures that I think is good… but fits in the category of being a ‘tinker.’ Meaning it’s 1 of those figures where you take 3rd party add-on sets to it & mod it. I think that it’s good… but I think that there are a few things that they could’ve improved on. I find this kind of interesting, but the shattered glass & nemesis recolors seem to be more popular than the G1 coloration. So the 'demand' is there.
    I think what’s happening in the poll is that people are waiting to see what all the options are before they actually buy something. It’s gotten to the point that it usually wise to wait for the last company to release their figure rather than buying the 1st 1 that comes out because there are so many options for certain characters in this scale. There are many things that I like in the MP-44… but I think that there are a # of things in it that you can emulate in some other way & get the same effect. So even if the figure were going to $250… my gut instinct to that is still kind of a ‘meh’ because even though I think that MP-44 looks cool… it’s too much for what it’s not I think. That’s just my personal opinion… but that’s what I feel.
    (2) And I got feeling that the MP-44 will do pretty much what the MP-10 did the 1st year that it came out. I generally get the Japanese releases because they’re better made than the crap that they release to the US market… & I remember that I paid $350 for him at the time. And he was quite expensive for those 1st few years. So I think that there’s an element with the MP-44 with that. That’s something to consider.
    (3) Where I think where the MP-44 excels is in the hips, thighs, & maybe knees. The ab crunch isn’t something that’s a must have for me. People that make a big deal about that (or in any other figure) start to make me think of that scene in Despicable Me 3 with the Yoga/Workout scene…
    ruclips.net/video/JAliaEVtN0o/видео.html
    I don’t know… LOL…
    But like with the TE… I think that the newer head for him is just as good as MP-44 (in general design), & I can see someone coming out with something to improve the figure like Ratchet & Ironhide is my point. If KO’s don’t come out 1st.

      Great points about poll results. I know there are many who have more than one and I figured they displayed the one they liked the most. Yes people were paying $300 to $350 for MP10 when he came out which is the MP44 price at Amazon JP. Lucky for us there are $100 options for prime that are not very bad! Thanks for the link to that hilt. I am looking for the FX saber that lights up but has that hilt. I may just do my Lightsaber vid without that one.

      @@tydiriumhanger1320 Just out curiosity… why are you only interested in getting a FX hilt?
      Are you trying to finish off a collection (like finishing off a ‘baseball set”) type of thing?
      Buying it just for the trademark?
      Or are you all thumbs when it comes to electronics?
      No right or wrong here… but I’m just curious to know why. Because I’m trying to help out. Just trying to figure out where you’re coming from.
      The reason why I ask is started making my own hilts maybe 10-12 years ago after I came down with cancer… & when I started doing sabers… I started with FX & MR hilts because I didn’t know any better. But after playing around with it a bit, I found out there are better options.
      That & if you’re looking at an investment… I noticed that fan made hilts (even without electronics installed) tend to sell for more than the official licensed products later down the road. Especially if it’s a novelty hilt. And usually (98% of the time), the fan stuff is better made as well.
      When you take a look at the comparisons of the 2, depending on the manufacture… the fan hilts are better detailed… & better built. Which is why I referred you to that seller because I know that brand. The hilts that he produces have been quoted by the prop makers at ILM to be better made/done than the 1’s that they produced for the film.
      Apart from from of the special edition FX & MR hilts (like the Mara Jade, AOTC/ROTS Anakin), a lot of those hilts don’t sell for a lot. Even in good condition. It’s just that the turnaround isn’t very good. Basically what you pay is what you get back in a few years on most of them. A few hilts may go for more because they’re more of a rarity… but I’ve done WAY better with some of the fan installs that I’ve sold than ANYTHING that I had from the FX/MR series.
      My point is that you can take that hilt I showed you, have a smith do the install if you feel that you can’t do it, put in a Plecter Labs board, do a pixel blade… & that saber will blow away ANYTHING that you have in your collection! From the visual appeal, the brightness of the blade, & how much louder it will sound… NO COMPARISON! It’s like having a Toyota vs a Lamborghini. They both get you there… but 1 gives you a little more ‘umph.’
      And I’m not knocking what someone has or doesn’t have… but sometimes when you discover that you have more options… you realize the your 1st option doesn’t look as good as it did when you 1st saw it. I’m very serious about my hilt collecting, & talking from a guy that’s been there… MR/FX hilts are nice if you’re a casual collector… or new to the hobby… but there are a # of other hilts out there that are a better value than just getting a FX/MR.
      Now if you just have it as a display piece for your desk or whatever… no big deal… especially if it’s static… but if you want to go with the lights, the whistles, & all that junk… you can do better.
      The last 2 ESB Luke Graflexs that I sold for example… 1 sold for $980 right off the bat… & the 2nd 1 sold for about $1,200. The prices are going down because people I think are losing interest in SW, but if you invested $200-300 in that hilt… you’d get a grand for it in a few years easily. That’s my point.
      I kinda don’t like to talk about subjects like this because I don’t want to come off as overly abrasive, opinionated, or make people feel like their collection isn’t good enough (I wouldn’t do that anyway… at least intentionally), but there are better options out there… & surprisingly people don’t know it.
      Unlike the MR hilts that you mentioned, what’s nice about these about these installs that you can actually duel with these… & you really can’t with a FX/MR. I don’t have have videos to show… but my Yun hilt has a ¾ blade in it, & I went to town on a stop sign near where I live, & after 10-15 mins of whacking on it… the blade was still working. The plastic blade was all chewed up, but the electronics still worked fine. The blade is nice & thick & sturdy. It feels very much like a broomstick… & if I were wailing on someone… they’d be pretty beaten & bruised up with the way that I was laying into it. I wasn’t going full strength… but enough to do damage. Enough to bust windows out of a car. And the blade/electronics in the hilts still worked is my point.
      I don’t know if you know anything about this… but as a suggestion… I’d advise you to look into it. Just to see what’s there because I have a feeling that you’d be more impressed with what’s in the fan community than what Hasbro puts out with the Black/FX/MR series. Just a suggestion.
      Here’s a few videos to show you what I’m talking about…

    8:57 The reason I see is to prevent breaking the peg. Both Gundam figures and model kits have an issue, where if you pull too hard, the beam saber peg will stay stuck in the handle, and break the connection with the saber entirely. This seems to be a clever design to avoid that, so that if you pull too hard, the piece itself naturally comes apart, rather then peg snapping.

    I display my Autobits squared up against the Decepticons (so I see them predominantly from the side and thus the huge backpack would be rather unsightly). Hey mr. Hanger, like i said before, i would come back at Mp-44.
      So i have gotten Mp-44 yesterday and played around with him. I must say.....this is a beautiful figure!
      The paint is very good (not as spot on as Fanstoys though) and i have a few very small blamish on it, you can hardly see it.
      The transformation is involved, but very smooth. Everything goes where it should be easely.
      All of the extra’s are very nice and work perfect, with the exception of Spike (his arm will fall of very easy)
      The knees work good, but he’s missing one ratchet in his knee (right out of the box/never transformed). So that could be a problem, but it doesn’t effect anything! He’s standing sturdy and the legs aren’t flopping around or something. So Yeah, thats pretty weird and i will contact my distrubiter for that.
      So now the $450 question..... Is he worth the price?
      Yes and no!
      I display him with the trailer in docking mode and the minifigures around it, so for me the price is justified.
      Do you want to display only Optimus without anything else, i must say you would probbebly be better off with TE-01, or MS.
      I hope this gives people some arguements wheter to buy this, or not.
      Cheers

    Not everybody who doesnt want MP44 is a "hater".
    I just dont need another prime, and if I did, I would go with Magic Square.
    And of course the price is ridiculous. I wouldn't pay a penny more than $280 for it.
    And I'd have to really, realy want it to pay that much.

    0:57 Did you just like your own post? Also like what the other people have said and I even said it as well before. People are hating on MP-44 because for an extremely expensive figure. It was riddled with QC issues. MS, TE, and MP-10 were pretty much perfect out of the box and you didn't need to modify them like they were some third party stuff.

    • @tydiriumhanger1320

      Yes I did like it. My first poll and it did not leg me vote. I was clicking all kinds of stuff..LOL Yes the QC on this should be top notch. Like I said the couple issues I had we minor in my book. No I did not have any issues with MS or TE so good point. Thanks

    I waited for mp44 reviews untill deciding what to get. Depsite my original hate for the mp44 and his back, I still thought he might be worth it. I have a friend who got it....and its much more loose than it should be. But the knee was busted out of the box. Even if the knee wasnt broken I still think both TE and MS are better choices. MS if you want a beefimus and TE for screen accuracy without sacrificing the back like mp44. Mp44 has a VERY ugly back and you always see it.

    • @tydiriumhanger1320
      @tydiriumhanger1320  5 лет назад

      Well this figure is not for everyone. MS and TE are great but I feel MP44 is a bit more toon when comparing all from the front. I have all the other versions but this figure make me want to keep putting it in dynamic poses and that has not happened with any other MP figure.

      MP44 looks awesome but the retail price is ridiculous especially compared to MP36 which also has electronics and a ton of accessories and is $220 cheaper than the new optimus prime. I seriously don't know what takara was thinking when they priced MP44. I just when they decide to make the nemesis prime version that they ditch the electronics and whatever accessories it has it will come in at a cheaper price

    I can afford it and still wont buy it. The Knee thing happened to quite a few people who barely even applied any force to the joint. At some point Takara has to take the blame for over- engineering this figure. Yes paint wears out, especially in Transforming toys, but to have paint and QC issues, right out of the box on a toy north of $400 US is ridiculous. I for one would like to thank Tydirium Hanger and all the others who have reviewed this figure. Thanks to them I will be quite content with my TE OP Leader ( I never really cared about the Trailer or Roller) and my $400 Plus dollars in my pocket. Just Sayin...✌

    I don't hate this figure because of the price, I hate it because it looks like a panelly/gappy mess in both modes, not to mention TT's obsession with HUUUUGE backpacks. It's just happens to be even more unforgivable once you factor that price in. All the QC issues I'm starting to hear about make it even more egregious. And I really can't take that poll seriously. TF collectors are notorious for defending expensive choices even if they are inferior...I want to see reviews of this guy from somebody who is borrowing it or on loan, not who paid out of pocket.

    Now that I've seen reviews and transformation of MP44. I can say that the backpack doesn't bother me as much as it did in pictures. Unfortunately the transformation doesn't seem fun at all and it seems very loose in the videos I've seen. that truck bed really does bother me. I understand that they are ment to be looked at from the front but man it feels lazy after seeing the 2 third parties. looking clean in both bot and truck. I really do want the accessories for MP44, I wish I could buy just those accessories separately.
    btw, status of Unicron at haslab doesn't seem to have gone up at all since the 31st. not gonna lie it has me worried.
    Edit: can you confirm if the trailer will fit with transform element's hitch?

    MP 36 I remember being 200 max
    ( just like Dinobot )
    MP 44 is 450 ( 600 depending on where are you buying him ) as well as having a nightmare of a transformation ( the legs specially, I bet those things would be the first to break )
    People mostly hate on MP 44 because of most of its unnecesary complexity, why the legs are done that way?!!!
