You don't know the huge stigma behind this figure, it's literally an overpriced hunk of panely junk when compared to TE-01 OP which is fucking 1/4's of the price. With the price of this figure you could get a fucking COMBINER! Yes a combiner that's more than 5 times it's size.

The magnets on the figures are for the Diaclone fans.
Back in the Diaclone days, the figures had magnets specifically to stick them onto Convoy's trailer.
Fun fact: the very first few releases of the figure retained the metallic plates on the trailer along with "bloated" fists
when you realize gundam is older than transformers but some of the toys are older than gundam and i love if you'd review diaclone
Takara even partnered with Sunrise to create the Brave saga.

@@Tfbrave Maybe it was Sunrise who wanted to continue the saga, as they continued to make novels of GaoGaiGar on their own after Takara walked out. Takara would eventually use the Brave-like premise for Tomica Drive Head, Shinkalion and Transformers Go! anime.

I would like to see an MP-44+ G1 Optimus Prime where his paint scheme is accurate to the '80's G1 Optimus Prime figure. I would also like to see the exact same mold repainted into G1 toy Ultra Magnus (AKA White Optimus Prime), Nemesis Prime and Ghostbusters Optimus Prime.

About the transformation, anyone before MP 36 Megatron 2.0 has a much easier transformation, and some even have licensed altmodes at the cost of some accuracy.
Good picks to go with MP 44: Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Megatron, Shockwave, Soundwave
The starscream mould is really outdated but there are very good third party replacements

I'm surprised the price wasn't mentioned at all. i love the way the figure looks, but for 400 dollars, i just cannot justify a figure with the kinds of issues this thing has. it doesn't feel right to me that they're charging as much as they are with how fragile parts are, especially considering this is more expensive than any other masterpiece figure
Yeah I know I'm trying to find other options there is an Optimus prime by a 3rd party magic square and its much cheaper
My main love is Transformers, but I also love an MG kit or 2, thanks to you. So this was a great review to see. I didn't go for the MP44 myself, but for the 3rd party "Transform Element" Prime instead. Thanks for the review. :)

He's actually not too fond of this figure because of the expensive price, the numerous accessories that he particularly doesn't care for, the transformation that feels overdone, the fragility of the knee joints, the paint chipping when you transform or move the figure, and the backpack.
Jobby prefers the third party figures based on MP-44, such as Transform Element OP Leader, which cost less without sacrificing the quality too much

Here’s my theory, Mecha Gaikotsu was traumatized after watching his death. And the mental trauma caused him to be unable to access memories of the entire event.

Hey mecha! I think this is the best review you're doing up to this point. I rarely enjoy 30+ minutes of toy review but you can make it enjoyable. Even the product placement has a nice segway. Also gonna point out the audio difference at the accessories part that doesn't sound like it's a mistake but an additional spice instead.
Love this Optimus as much as the movie Optimus,it’s an awesome figure.

This is from a true Transformers Fanatic.
MP-01 was the first iteration and their first attempt at Masterpiece Optimus Prime. In short, it was bad. MP-10 was their second attempt and for the past several years, it was the definitive Optimus Prime because it’s so damn good. MP-44 is the third iteration. This was made to look more like the cartoon. MP-10 has a more blocky and “real life proportional” design while MP-44 seeks to accomplish a cartoon accurate look. I like both MP-10 and MP-44. Can’t decide which is better. MP-01 is hot garbage.

love the video! It is very detailed. It reminded me of the optimus prime i have, the beast wars version I think it was called "leo prime" and bunch of his allies like the catterpillar, buffalo, baboon and mosquito that can transform into a 4 legged spider LoL

I understand that it's trying to be cartoon accurate, but I always liked the white/silver stripes on Optimus' truck mode. It just feels incomplete without it. I really do like the figure either way.

Convoy comes from his Diaclone incarnation: Battle Convoy (it was later used for G2 Laser Optimus Prime). The reason he was named Convoy is because Japanese kids found it difficult to pronounce and remember. Since 2007, Takara-Tomy uses the English name now (the Japanese dub of Transformers Animated made fun of it during the next episode segment for "The Heroes are called Autobots"), including the G1 version, except for material aimed at adult collectors.
even though MP-44 is here I still like MP-10 maybe its a perfect balance of real and animation accuracy

The problem for me is I'm equally interested in transformers and gundams, but with a all very quite small budget, it makes it pretty hard for me to get all the gunpla and transformes I want. Edit: I missed a lot of transformers. You don't say, soo let me list pretty much every series you missed, directly after g1/the original series, there was g2, then beast wars, then beast machines, then robots in disguise, then transformers armada, then transformers energon, then transformers cybertron, then transformers animated, then transformers prime, then transformers combiner wars, then transformers titans return, then transformers power of the primes, and now your probably going to miss out on transformers siege of war for cybertron and transformers war for cybertron earthrise. This is excluding, the six live action movies, all the Japanese exclusive transformers series, the awful rescue bots and robots in disguise from 2015 and transformers cyberverse, the 20/25/30/35 anniversary figures, and stuff form the war for cybertron/fall of cybertron video games. So basically, you missed over 30 live action movie and series. When you said you missed a lot of transformers, you sure as hell weren't kidding!
My first Prime was Power Master Prime. His trailer became a battle station and super armor. Eventhough he was essentially a brick.

I personally don't think so. I'd argue that the MP-10, a.k.a. Optimus Prime 2.0, is the better figure. Heck, the 3rd party options do more for less of a price
