For me so far, I have Fansproject Motorsquad as my Menasor, Warbotron for my Bruticus, and I’m working on getting some more. I’m going for scale with CHUGWFC figures
I choose the chug scale since its easy to display on bookshelves. I'm not sure how one can display all the masterpiece stuff without having a lot of floor space available.
The Combiners are my favorite Transformers. I had them all. I even had Metroplex. I collect a lot of different toy lines and I do custom figures in 1:18 scale and wrestling figures(mattel). I have decided to only (for the most part) to collect MP Transformers as I love the scale and detail. With that I have to have my collection in MP scale. I do have the Toys R Us Devastator which I had to have as he's my favorite combiner. So it's MP scale for me.

But I DO plan on getting ALL the Masterpiece Motormasters they make! I love my Motormasters!!! YES And SOMEONE needs to make a 20"+ Computron, Defensor, & Abominus!!!!
Ko oversize gravity builder is by far my favorite devastator. I got the full upgrade kit and hes even BETTER. He is a bit stylized and heavily detailed. Toyworlds is closer G1 but not for the price. I should have waited to see if we were going to get a ko oversize computron. Darn.
@ted bundy funny thing is I've been looking at the combiner wars devastator. Its growing in me. Theres an upgrade kit that gives you a new head, foot (mixmaster cab) and shoulder extensions that really beef him up. But damn, do I need another devy? Do I wanna start having multiple representations of characters??? The temptation is great.
I will not be buying multiple versions of the combiners as I'd rather fill out my collection at this stage in my collecting career. What I'm trying to figure out is which Menasor will scale best with Zeta's KRONOS (Superion). That was the first combiner I bought and that's the scale I'm locked in to now, especially since I'll also be going with Zeta's Bruticon. Like you, I'd measure height to the figure's head (eye level, specifically). Any thoughts on which Menasor would fit best with that scale?
Sadly the expensive Fanstoys will measure up the best. You make a great point that it is better to fill out the rest of your collection instead of buying multiple versions of the same character. Thanks
What are the best versions of each combiner that scale with chug?? I’m really new to this , I recently started to get into the siege figures and I wanna base my collection on them , I would love to hear y’all’s suggestions
For me I don't worry much about the combined mode size. If the individual bots scale in bot mode then I'm fine with the combined mode size. If they're bigger with major parts forming, then great....if not then fine. Stability and being able to hold the weight of their weapons is more important.
Along with my original G1 combiners, I like to get larger versions, even if they're KO to go along with them. I look at both affordability and try to get versions that would scale fairly accurately with the other combiners...at least in my imagination. For example, I have the NBK Devastator, but the Weijiang Predaking. Bruticus, Abominus, Piranacon, and Defensor to come.
I agree a thousand percent. Parts forming is the way to go. Zeta's gestalts are currently unparalleled in terms of stability and articulation being present in such useful ways in a figure. They are legit playable. They're like nothing we've seen before in this space. I hope that Fanstoys usurps the crown tho. We all win as collectors if they do. Excellent video! Giant combining robots are my favorite fictional things EVER LOL
For me, KO Oversized are my favorite. Love the look, love the detail and compared to MP it’s important they fit in Robot mode and Combined mode. Can’t have the robots taller than MP Optimus like they do with Zetas!!
Upscaling the Hasbro stuff to MP size is no good because they don't have near the level of clean looking quality that an MP should. But, doing them up to the titan size scale like the Jiu Jang Superion did is perfect. They fit right in with chug sets at that scale and look great. My Superion looks awesome next to Devastator and Predaking and I really wish that other KOs for the rest of the combiners like Computron, Defensor or Abominus would come out so I can have them all at that size. XD
All this talk about Combiners makes me so anxious for someone to start concentrating on them. We can put the car bots and Decepticons aside for a bit. Let's start giving us some news on Computron, Abominus, Defensor, and Predaking. I am already invested with Fanstoys/Zeta Aerial bots and Fanstoys/Xtransbots Stunticons. IMO Zeta Bruticus is hands-down the best Combiner that has a great likeness to the single bots and the combiner. The integration of the hands, gestalt head, torso, and crotch pieces is ingenious.
I’m all in on the Fanstoys for individual robot mode, as for combine mode idk. Going to wait to see which is better out of dx9 XTB for Menesor. Superion I’m waiting for Zeta box set if they ever come out with one. Great vid bro as always 👍🏼
My personal taste is the fansproject motor squad set. It’s relatively proportional and holds together pretty well. Plus the parts forming make the combiner mode more solid.(Much like Zetas combiners)
I love, and prefer the 18 inch scale of Combiner Wars Devastator, and Predaking, and would welcome more in that scale from Hasbro especially if they ever get around redoing the Autobot Combiners like Superion, Computron, and or Defensor in the new upcoming G1 Earthrise aesthetic.
Good video and topic. Two things to address. 1. Upscale CW chug -> not MP but just a bigger chug. 2. Zeta should’ve made Defensor using the Bruticus mold, kinda surprised they didn’t make it. You made a good point, other companies should make the other combiners ( Denfensor, Computron, etc.).
Right there with you on Computron, easily my fav Autobot combiner and needs another option. That Zeta Predaking looks promising too, my fave on the Decepticon side. The combiner wars versions are good enough, but may be a smidge too short.
I personally don’t think most people care about the biggest size. Not all but most of the people I talk to collector wise aren’t into these figures because of the large amount of parts forming these have. I agree. When the main figure isn’t even used in the combiners it’s not a real figure you can base a character on. IMO.
Fanstoys Menasor has two different looks. One has the car on the chest and the other is the toon accurate. I’m not sure if you saw that or not. Great video man
Zeta and Toy World (err Gang Toys?) are making a Predaking each. That was left off. I am looking forward to seeing those if they ever come to production.
Nice video, hasbro titan class are perfect for optimus Voyager or mp for me, I like to se more combiner wars overcize figures or more dowzice like devastator
Here is a listing and that seller is a good one: www.ebay.com/itm/Transformation-Bold-Forms-BCS-Lonewolf-In-Stock/264405021609?hash=item3d8fc473a9:g:vRgAAOSw8aBdNA8K
From what I hear, that "Lone Wolf" Motormaster by Boldform wasn't that great a figure. But, if the Menasor torso has better stability than any version of the CW or UW Motormaster mold, maybe I'll look into it... The Transform Dream Wave Bruticus kit - and they did variants for CW Bruticus (silver chest), UW Bruticus (the funky color chest), and UW Baldigus (the desert camo lookin' chest) - is okay...but I still have yet to get a new screwdriver to finish installing Onslaught's parts. The hands & feet, I don't care for; I'll keep those as weapons while using this nice KO PerfectEffect PC09 set (silver hands, feet to match Brawl & Swindle) AS the hands & feet. I guess Computron ain't as popular as folks thought. Maketoys "Quantron" is relatively dirt cheap nowadays. Haven't heard a peep outta the Warbotron Computron in about a year or so. You don't even really hear much outta the craptastic Hasbro Combiner Wars Computron or the nicer Takara Unite Warriors Computron. Oh!! For that CHUG scale, you forgot to mention that KO downsized CW Devastator. I really hope those folks do a downsized PotP Predaking to match...and this time, include a matching downsized KO DNA Design upgrade kit. And I'm not surprised that you didn't go into Legends scale Combiners, since there's DX9 "Hulkie" (Devastator), Iron Factory "War Giant" (Bruticus) and that Baldigus (aka RiD01 Ruination) repaint, and I think that somebody was supposed to be working on Menasor, too. (Yup. Legends. Scale. Stunticons.) Hasbro oversized KOs as MP scale? I don't think they would as far as aesthetics, but in terms of raw size, why not? Hasbro themselves did it already with CW Devastator & PotP Predaking. 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
Great points about the KO undersized Devy and the Legends. I think Legends combiners need their own vid with all the variations and scales. The Biggest KO upsize of Dx9 Hulkie is almost the same size as the KO undersized COOLBECOMEBRAVE version. Thanks
Wasn't the first core body for an upgrade Hasbro combiner, wasn't that the Fall of Cybertron Bruticus, think Boosticus set. Not in like with CW, but think your right about Lonewolf being first in CW.
That may have been true as I did not get that Fall of Cybertron Bruticus set. I learn stuff every day! I was so excited for Lonewolf but the price was just too out there for me at the time. Thanks
I do not have the cash for any of these combiners whatsoever. However, since Transformers was my favorite part of my childhood(still a huge fan today), I just want to see all the Transformers "original" 80's animated show accurate. I was and still not a fan of the comic book and the "original" figures back in the day were bad ass. But the "original" animated show was #1.
For the menasor. I prefer XTB. I don't like the fact the the other companies cars are larger then the hastak cars that are of the same make and model. Hastak's MP is the the scale I want, not the over-sized if it takes them beyond that.
I know it was never official as a G1 figure but G-Creations SURAKING aka THE BEAST is one of the best looking figures you can look at in a Shelf. Didnt say pose. As far as your last question... Those upscale siege figures rival the Masterpiece figures as fat robot mode and they are under $15.00 compared to $75.00. Love to see a review of the KO oversize Siege Side swipe vs. The Masterpiece version. Some in the case of Siege Sideswipe look like future versions of the 84 designs vs being stuck in 1984.
If you up-size a crapy hasbro children's toy, you get a crapy giant toy. Masterpieces were meant for adults and older children that display them. They don't play with them.
I'm a tweener -- I know Warbotron/Transformmission aren't legit MP, but the alleged MPs for those characters rule themselves out by being shithouse, and I like the designs (would love for them to be re-done with some diecast, less flash and some paint). I like the combiner that doesn't mass-shift. A bit of partsforming is ok, but let's not get crazy with the whole torso and hips springing from nowhere! Otherwise: why not just have a non-transforming robot that comes with a non-transforming alt mode? I'm not super-toon either -- the animation in my head-canon is way better than the actual animation. I dunno why we would want to straight up copy that. Autobot Spike is a good example -- "walked off the cartoon" but does he look good? I say no he does not.
I agree with everything you said Mike! Titans return is almost there in terms of height. That Jinbao oversized generations gravity builder is incredible!!...me too! Dont care about parts forming 99% as long it looks good, stable and articulated. Yeah I agree ..fanstoys can be displayed in either way. So does Dx9.. The rest of zeta in Bot mode are Garbage. You keep cracking me up! Every time you say Uranus! 😹 As always great video!
C.H.U.G. stands for Classics, Henkei, United, Generations. This is a common fan term for the modern style of generation 1-based toylines that range across US and Japan releases from 2006 to the modern day. F.Y.I.
Combiner wars is still great for the CHUG collectors and Generations selects is putting out the Seacons still. Yes the MP is way more exciting but also way more expensive. Thanks
Another great video Mike. Hey if you come across more 3rd party chug combiners for $100, please holler at me. The only combiners i have are g1 and cw bruticus. Lol.
@@tydiriumhanger1320 right on. Thank you very much. Im in some fb groups but only problem is i dont get on fb but very rarely when someone sends me a message or specific post.
Functionally 14-16" 5 bot combiners and 18" Devastator for my chug display to play nice with the Hasbro Citybots and keep space under control. I do toy with the idea of going with something like JJ Jet Commander and the JinBoa Warbotron and GBuilder KO's with a WeiJang Ultima Guard to make use of Siege Jetfire and lean into a more strict Sunbow display but space is really premium and really would force out Metroplex and FortMax. Maybe someday.
@@tydiriumhanger1320 This video kind of got the bug to go with the larger gestalts and Omega Supreme going again tho. Put Jet Commander on order, I'll see how I like him standing next to MP10v in hand. 👍
They have an uphill battle. They are late to the Menasor party, have not put out 1 figure yet and will lose a significant portion of the buyers if they do not act quick. Plus they are going up against top tier companies with great track records. All that said I want to see these anyway. Thanks
Of all combiners, Landcross was totally untouched by 3rd Party. If it gets done, wish it's the better companies to perfect the idea of Masterpiece Combiners.
@@tydiriumhanger1320 Perhaps some parts might collapse to make it smaller, and possibly Partsforming if necessary. The Multiforce way of legs becoming arms is basically any company's problem whether it's Hasbro, Takara, or 3rd Party. If FansProject does one, it should be in almost scale with Saurus Ryu-Oh. If TFC Toys does one, it would be called Earth Cross or something. I know, why Landcross? Well Raiden is rumored to be made anytime soon. But the fact is we already have Hades, Trinity Force, and Saurus Ryu-Oh, out of the Victory combiners. This leads to the fact why on Earth, 3rd party companies don't have interest on tackling perhaps the most obscure combiner, yet it had the best play value over the traditional Combiners like Devastator, Superion, Bruticus, Computron, etc.?
Poor Computron, even the 3rd Parties doesn't seem to know him.Maybe Grimlock should have done better before he gave his high intelligence to Computron.
Of all the 3p combiners Zeta toys is blowing them off. None of the 3p Menasor looks good, Zeta is likely to be the first one to make a very good Menasor.
I really don't like the partsforming (pantsforming) direction. To me, the term "Masterpiece" is an indication of the level of engineering as well as size and aesthetics, and the larger combiner scale falls well short by that estimation. 30% of Constructors overall bodyparts and height is made up of extra parts. Even G1 was better in that regard... and the fact that Zeta's gestalts can be put together without even needing the torso-bot present is ridiculous. If that's what people want, they'd be better off just buying a full size, non-transforming articulated figure of those characters. I think using extra parts to get the height is the same as claiming you have a 9 inch **** 'cause you jammed a toothpick in the end. Fortunately, the G1 'toon aesthetic really isn't my thing anyway, as I think it looks a little plain and boring, and the bigger the bot, the larger those swathes of flat, smooth paint are, emphasising the dullness. I like the Warbotron/GT/TFM aeshetic and scale. Modern looking vehicles and 'bots with plenty of detailing, and amazing all-inclusive engineering, and the gestalts look beefy and intimidating, and interesting. Also, you never mentioned any of the Dinobot combiners (I have GCreations Shuraking, and he's still a favourite... seeing that is what got me back into the hobby after 30 years away), or the upcoming Predakings... Cang-Toys look pretty incredible from what we've seen so far.
Not sure which Predaking will be better Zeta or (the artist formerly known as Toyworld). Partsforming will be an ongoing debate forever but MMC got you covered with 0 partsforming. I like the Warbotron designs but you caught me.....I am stuck in G1 mode...LOL Thanks
I'm going on the record to say Fanstoys motormaster is going to be a disaster. These bots are heavy as hell bro. Those ratchets better made of titanium.
The fans toys figures are to big individually if you look at the cartoon. They should be the same size as auto or car figures. Way too big compared to them. They look great. I’m buying them. But they aren’t in scale.
I think it depends on mass shifting. In g1 they mass shifted up. So toy world/zeta toys do this. And combiner wars do this with their devastator. Now if u view combiners as NOT mass shifting then warbron Bruticus and gravity builder work because thier not having extra pieces. G1 mass shifting doesn’t make sense so I think gravity builder are better for masterpiece. There’s a lot of shit of g1 that makes no damn sense. Megatron transforming to a gun is dumb as shit and soundwave transforming turning into a box is dumb as shit.
I have the over size make toys devastator you featured with the upgrades your right at 180$ for everything he's a steal. To me this is the perfect scale for MP combiners. No siege ko and oversized would not work with all the hollow bits Hasbro leaves behind. Siege Jetfire would be the only exception that would sellout right away especially if they light up the eyes and diecast the feet and nose cone and articulate the fingers. Parts forming imho is cheating no way to justify MP prices for a toy that part forms sorry. 95% parts form might as well be lego. Ps there are some really cool lego transformers on RUclips btw. Very creative.
3 comments, 1. you only went bigger, nothing about legend scale collecting. 2. what about Japanese exclusive combiners being made for world markets, think trainbots. 3. no mention of monstructor. has only a fansproject repaint from their dinoiechi.
I think I may do another vid just about Legends because of all the KO OS versions there. Fansproject Beastructor is cool but how tall is it? The only Raiden is Zeta but they put it on hold for Unicron and now they are just in limbo at the moment. Great points! Thanks

Btw, I know Hasbro made their own but I don’t like the fact that they are flimsy and feel kind of cheap
I hope that Fanstoys do an optional head of Menasor and the boxes next to it!
That is a good point as Zeta is doing 2 head options. Thanks
For me I don't worry much about the combined mode size. If the individual bots scale in bot mode then I'm fine with the combined mode size.
If they're bigger with major parts forming, then great....if not then fine.
Stability and being able to hold the weight of their weapons is more important.
Yes Stability is very important! So far Zeta has great stability due to being light. Thanks
Zeta sure has paved the way to make great combiners. I have no intention to display any of the Zeta options in individual mode though. Thanks
For me, KO Oversized are my favorite. Love the look, love the detail and compared to MP it’s important they fit in Robot mode and Combined mode. Can’t have the robots taller than MP Optimus like they do with Zetas!!
That scale does work very well! Thanks
You can get the individual Zeta Superions Figures at ShowZ on the NOV11 sale and they will cost $360. Just a heads up.
WeiJiang is making a oversized Computron that is already out.
You are messing with my emotions! LOL Will you post a link so I can check that out please? Thanks
ruclips.net/video/ZVEqP4QwLvg/видео.html
That’s a link to a review. It doesn’t look much like the Computron but it is WeiJiangs version of it
My personal taste is the fansproject motor squad set. It’s relatively proportional and holds together pretty well. Plus the parts forming make the combiner mode more solid.(Much like Zetas combiners)
Fansproject does some good work! Thanks
Damn. I'm just getting into combiners, and it's sad to see computron is still getting looked over.
WOW what would an Earth Rise Combiner look like? That would be cool! Thanks
Yes the bigger chug are not as good of aesthetic as 3p but still a great option on the cheap. YES to Zeta Defensor! Thanks
Right there with you on Computron, easily my fav Autobot combiner and needs another option. That Zeta Predaking looks promising too, my fave on the Decepticon side. The combiner wars versions are good enough, but may be a smidge too short.
I have the KO Predaking in my display and it looks great! Thanks
I personally don’t think most people care about the biggest size. Not all but most of the people I talk to collector wise aren’t into these figures because of the large amount of parts forming these have. I agree. When the main figure isn’t even used in the combiners it’s not a real figure you can base a character on. IMO.
I was basing that on the poll results. I know the partsforming debate will not never to away and it is all down to preference. Thanks
Fanstoys Menasor has two different looks. One has the car on the chest and the other is the toon accurate. I’m not sure if you saw that or not. Great video man
Yes FT went for different display options but I wonder if there are different parts associated with each. Thanks
Zeta and Toy World (err Gang Toys?) are making a Predaking each. That was left off. I am looking forward to seeing those if they ever come to production.
Obviously not "frigg'n" enough! A lot of people are wanting a GOOD MP size PK. And you liked your own comment. Yikes.
We will see if that one is better or Zeta. Will be an interesting fight I will watch from the sidelines. Thanks
Given the news of FT Fort Max, we need an update to this video already. :)
Nice video, hasbro titan class are perfect for optimus Voyager or mp for me, I like to se more combiner wars overcize figures or more dowzice like devastator
Yes I do want to see at least a Computron upsized and I look forward to this Upscaled Abominus. Thanks
1:48 where i can find this motormaster?
Here is a listing and that seller is a good one:
www.ebay.com/itm/Transformation-Bold-Forms-BCS-Lonewolf-In-Stock/264405021609?hash=item3d8fc473a9:g:vRgAAOSw8aBdNA8K
I'm going to need a bigger house!
Space is always an issue for sure! Thanks
(Yup. Legends. Scale. Stunticons.)
Hasbro oversized KOs as MP scale? I don't think they would as far as aesthetics, but in terms of raw size, why not? Hasbro themselves did it already with CW Devastator & PotP Predaking. 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
Great points about the KO undersized Devy and the Legends. I think Legends combiners need their own vid with all the variations and scales. The Biggest KO upsize of Dx9 Hulkie is almost the same size as the KO undersized COOLBECOMEBRAVE version. Thanks
Yes Mike! You know what I care about 🤧🙌
Yes the bigger the better! LOL
It’s called Calculation King
For the menasor. I prefer XTB. I don't like the fact the the other companies cars are larger then the hastak cars that are of the same make and model. Hastak's MP is the the scale I want, not the over-sized if it takes them beyond that.
Yes It is good to have many options depending how you see the scale. Thanks
I have that KO OS Siege Sideswipe on the way! I thought about discussing the dinos but they really are a thing of their own. Thanks
I say no he does not.
oooo, I like that Abominus!
Xtransbots should make the protectobots next
I would love to see them do that! Thanks
I am really just ready to build at least one Menasor and that should be December! Thanks
C.H.U.G. stands for
Classics, Henkei, United, Generations. This is a common fan term for the
modern style of generation 1-based toylines that range across US and
Japan releases from 2006 to the modern day.
F.Y.I.
Combiner Wars had there day. That day is over.
Combiner wars is still great for the CHUG collectors and Generations selects is putting out the Seacons still. Yes the MP is way more exciting but also way more expensive. Thanks
Fanstoy and toy world oh and the new zeta make the best transformers they are the most consistent and G1 accurate
Another great video Mike. Hey if you come across more 3rd party chug combiners for $100, please holler at me. The only combiners i have are g1 and cw bruticus. Lol.
I will pass them along to you. Best thing to do is to check Facebook groups.
That 18 inch scale does fit better with the Citybots. Thanks
@@tydiriumhanger1320 This video kind of got the bug to go with the larger gestalts and Omega Supreme going again tho. Put Jet Commander on order, I'll see how I like him standing next to MP10v in hand. 👍
Hoping Rising Force makes it happen. I was disappointed when toyworld motormaster for CW was canceled. :(
They have an uphill battle. They are late to the Menasor party, have not put out 1 figure yet and will lose a significant portion of the buyers if they do not act quick. Plus they are going up against top tier companies with great track records. All that said I want to see these anyway. Thanks
zeta scale is the only way to go. upgrades on your CW sets just don't work for MP
Of all combiners, Landcross was totally untouched by 3rd Party. If it gets done, wish it's the better companies to perfect the idea of Masterpiece Combiners.
I wonder how an MP version would look of that? Thanks
LOL yes it is all Grimlock's fault. Thanks
Of all the 3p combiners Zeta toys is blowing them off. None of the 3p Menasor looks good, Zeta is likely to be the first one to make a very good Menasor.
I wonder if Zeta eventually will make a Menasor? Good point. Thanks
Not paying $600 for any of them.
That is a very valid concern. That is a lot of weight! Thanks
Yes Partsforming will be that age old debate LOL. I did see a lego Voltron that was pretty cool! I will have to check out those TFs Thanks
Warbotron is not the best looking computron maketoys has the best looking computron.
What’s the scale four war for cyber Tron siege/transformers earth rises what’s the scale flows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Siege and the Mainline scale is the under 14 inch. I did forget to touch on the KO under sized Devy to match that scale. Thanks
URANUS
That figure looks like.....
Thanks
@@tydiriumhanger1320 the fansproject dinoeichi/monstructor is combiner wars high, whatever that is
First comment? Weird.
Thanks!
