Mixing it with the mixer for at least 45 minutes will also ensure that is stays light and fluffy for months! The first batch I ever made started to solidify within a week. I watched more videos on youtube and finally found one that said you have to mix it for 45 minutes. It's a good thing you can make big batches that lasts long cause it takes awhile.
I use homemade, 100% natural Coconut oil to seal my hair ( live in the Caribbean so I get my coconuts fresh from the Tree). If I don't have any coconut oil then my second go to is Black Jamaican Castor oil or local castor oil from the market as well.
I be thirsty 😂😂😂 I can't even lie especially if she does Mia for whole. I always check my RUclips to see if she posted anything and if not here then Instagram lol
Ty so much for this DIY. I generally mix several oils together. Carrier oils Oliver, Jojoba, avocado, grape seed, castor oil, sun flower oil and glycerin, also some essential oils, peppermint, tea tree, eucalyptus, bergamot, lavender, black seed, clary sage, bergamot, and rosemary.
I mix my own oils & butters, too! Some of my favorites to seal with are coconut, avacado, & grapeseed oils, with essential oils of lavender, tea tree, & rosemary!
hi, This is really really nice video. but, you did not give the ratio/ measurement of each ingredient for one to try it...Plz this will be appreciated? thanks. Also where did you get those jars?
My daughter and I are both natural and have gone through what seems like a million and one oils for sealing our ends. We finally found one that we both like, praise Jesus, and works well. Jamaican black cast oil. Loved the video! Thanks
I realized that going simple is best for my hair instead of wasting a lot of money on tons of products. I love using a natural Shea butter for moisture (the first one that I tried was from Shea Shea bakery). Coconut and Argan oil are also a couple of favorites, but I recently started to use black castor oil too. I follow you on snapchat and I can't wait to make your Shea butter (and hair milk if you make a tutorial).
On damp hair I like to use mixed chicks leave in then let that sit for 15 minutes then add Shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie. This does wonders for my hair
Dang girl you not playing with those industrial size products!!! I like to seal my hair with shea butter that's mixed with some oils. Too bad they are not homemade :( I got a little product happy when going natural! Thanks for sharing your DIYs as always!!!
grapeseed oil is my favorite sealant. Since its pretty close to our scalps natural sebum it doesnt feel greasy in my hair. And its pretty cheap! Love that stuff.
For my hair I like to use a little water and mango butter. My top 3 "go-tos" are 1)raw mango butter 2)raw Shea butter 3)coconut oil or mixture of them all..love your channel!😊
I've only been natural for almost 2 months now and started off using coconut oil. I soon learned that that DEFINITELY wasn't enough to keep moisture in because my hair is really thick lol. For the past 3 weeks or so I've been using Aunt Jackie's Seal it Up Hydrating Sealing Butter from their flaxseed recipes line along with my coconut oil and I love it so far! It smells great and I only have to moisturize and seal my hair every few days as opposed to every day when I was only using coconut oil :)
I use organic raw unrefined coconut oil to seal my hair . sometimes I will use black castor oil mixed with avacado oil as well . I have thick naturally DRY hair , so these oips definitely give me that shine and seal I LOVE !
I LOVE to use Shea Butter as well, I can't use to many products on my skin due to my skin sensitivity. When I used certain products it would cause me to break out, but now since I've found Shea butter it hasn't cause any skin irritation. Although my Shea butter is more of a yellow color, it works miracles for my hair.
I use a Shea butter mix that I make once a year to seal my hair. I use the yellow kind because they sell it for cheap near my home. I used a variety of oils but have run out of it and need to make some more. I like your recipe and method cause your mix stays creamy and doesn't separate.
I like to use castor oil to seal in moisture because it's thick and my hair loves to suck in Moisture, also because it has awesome ingredients which promotes hair growth and helps strengthen hair to make it stronger. It helps grow out your edges also if you have thin ones so over all I like castor to seal in moisture and other things.
I usually spritz my hair with water then add some leave in conditioner and seal with argan oil. For me I think argan oil has the best consistency not too thick(castor oil) yet not too watery (coconut oil). 😊😊
Hey April!!! For my sealant routine I usually use cream of nature leave in conditioner or water with castor oil, sometimes coconut oil along with it. These products keep my moisture lit 🔥🙌🏾
I towel dry my hair spray in Hask placenta super strength for my rites and ion repair bbb cream is a 10 in 1 balm for your hair. I'm a hairdresser so I do ALLOT to my hair (color) n these are great, leaves my hair super soft...maybe 1 a week I do an ion deep conditioning. ..awesome. ...thanks for sharing this awesome shea recipe, can't wait to try it. take care
that looks like it will feel amazing in your hair. I have such a hard time coming up with a good balance to seal my hair. my hair dries out extremely fast.
I use a whipped Shea butter but didn't know why it gets chunky and solidifies until you mentioned the broiler benefits! Thanks so much! Love your videos! I even made my first rug because you made it look so easy and I am NOT a DIY person AT ALL! Congrats on all the success and God bless!
When my hair is damp I first add my leave-in conditioner, then I use my favorite curl defining cream (which both has some Shea Butter in them) to flat twist it and I like to seal my hair with coconut oil.
I wet my hair with a sprits of Organic Aloe Vera, then moisterize with Shea Moisture's JBCO leave-in, then seal organic Hemp Seed Oil. Hemp Seed Oil is an life savor; coconut oil doesn't work very well as a sealant as it's an oil that actually penetrates the hair, and doesn't seal type 4 hair all too well, and castor oil was always too thick for my fine strands. Hemp Seed Oil is light and seals extremely well! I've used it on my skin and my skin is the best it's ever been in a long time 😊😊😊 It's high in linoleic acid and non-comodegenic like many other oils are. I'm so glad to have found it; all thanks to Minimalist Beauty (LOVE HER!~)!! ❤😍
So I'm kind of new to this natural hair journey. My daughter is 3yrs old with natural hair. And help is wonderful and watching your videos really helps me. I've recently got some Shea Butter from a friend and I mixed coconut oil, castor oil, and jojoba oil for my her hair. Her hair stays so moistured now and the shine is great. I would love to try yours or at least try and make mines like yours. Your so wonderful
I normally seal with Shea Butter or EVOO. Thanks for the tip about melting the Shea butter! I just whip mine and it does solidify just a few days after.
I pretty much use the same products you used: moisturize with water and seal with shea butter mix although I use different oils in mine. Simple yet effective 💜
I don't really use anything to seal my hair but I'm trying to learn more about it. I normally just wash, condition and apply coconut oil on my hair before braiding it. I guess if I'd use a sealant it would grow faster but I just be afraid that most store bought products are water based and will kink my hair up.
I use my Aragon oil conditioner I let it sit in my hair for about a minute then I rinse it off with warm water then I seal everything in by rinsing a second time with cold water
I've been moisturizing and sealing my hair with aloe vera juice, a mixture of different oils, and a shea butter mix. For some reason, its the only thing that will keep my hair moisturized.
Thanks so much for sharing this video , I started using a lot of your DYI in my hair, and they are working, My hair is grown 6 inches since I started using your tips, I love sealing my hair with different oils , Like coconut oil , olive oil, jojoba ... would like to try something different to seal my hair with Shea butter..Once again, ..Thanks so much for sharing :)
I like to use olive oil to seal the moisture in my hair. Castor oil can be too thick and coconut oil doesn't retail enough moisture in my hair so olive oil is the perfect balance.
April you do such a great job. I like how you've moved away from all the products and making your own. Keep up the good work, very encouraging 😊😊😊. I like to damp my hair with water followed by Lotta body coconut and Shea oil moisturize me curl milk, topped off with some good ole JBC oil.
I have been natural for less than a year. Right now I use jojoba, vitamin E, and olive oils to seal my hair. I really want to use some type of shea butter mix because I've been hearing so many great things about it. However, I've never been able to get any method of mixing down packed. This natural thing can be quite confusing. Your videos always inspire me to keep pursuing this natural journey!!!
At the moment the only product I use to seal moisture into my hair is coconut oil but i want to start trying different products since im transitioning to natural.
Since becoming natural, I love using Shea Moisture products. I see rapid results in my hair growth. Because I have just recently became natural, I haven't tried using any type of Shea butter mix and so I feel using that on my hair will allow my hair to continue to grow and flourish.
Hey there! So excited to finally see this video- can't wait to make my own. The products that I use to seal are almost always grapeseed oil and cocoa butter. The combination seals in the moisture and makes my hair look the part. ;) Thanks for the giveaway.
You make this look so easy. I failed everytime. But I'm going to try this method. Never thought of using the freezer though. I use Africa's Best Herbal Oil. It smells so good. I was looking for a sealing cream I can buy instead of making but haven't found it. Everything seems to be water based or expensive. You should start selling this stuff.
To get super moisturized hair I make sure my hair sections are soaking wet & add a light leave-in conditioner. I really love camille rose naturals coconut water leave in! Sometimes I add water to dilute it a little bit. & then I use argan or grapeseed oil to seal my hair. I would like to try a butter, but I can't seem to find one that is creamy enough. The batch you made in this video seems so creamy & worth trying! Great video.
I like to use either vitamin E oil or Shea Butter because my hair is very thick and coarse, it helps retain as much moisture as possible through out my busy week.
I do not use any products to seal the moisture of my hair. I currently have a texturizer and will be doing a big chop in the beginning of June which will be after graduation of high school. Your channel has been amazing viewpoints on what I should do and should look for into going through the natural journey. Thank you for everything and have an awesome night/day :)
I've been doing the LOC method using Aloe Vera juice, my oil mix (Olive oil, Coconut oil, Castor oil, Grapeseed oil, Argon oil, Vitamin E oi, and Sweet Almond oil), and cantu coconut curling cream. It leaves my hair soft and moisturized. Your shea butter looks awesome TFS
I am learning the different techniques for natural hair. My hair is finally growing after years and years of non growth. Currently I use a water base mix with different oils. I am still trying to find the perfect combination.
I like to keep it simple and use either coconut oil, or a mix of castor, tea tree, and olive oil. I find the simple things work best for my hair. I'm so glad I'm subscribed to you! You inspire me so much. Not just with your natural hair, but just in general, with living on your own & all of your DIY's! 💕😌😘
I'm transitioning, decided to go natural exactly a year ago and I love it so far but I'm still learning and experimenting. I've previously used coconut, olive, and grapeseed oils and I like the results of coconut the best. I'm still getting my product line together, currently using dark-n-lovely Au naturale products. Your videos give me, and my hair, life!
I am newly natural (BC on 3-21-16) and I just started used Grapeseed Oil as a sealant along with a few drops of Jojoba Oil. My hair loves it! I started off using Coconut Oil and Almond Oil. The Coconut Oil didn't help any. My hair would dry out pretty fast. The Grapeseed Oil leaves my hair soft and lively all day. I also use JBCO nightly around my edges.
Three years later and I'm steal trying to find the perfect sealant for my hair. Coconut oil never lets me down, but with high porosity hair, moisture seeps out so easily and so quickly.
Since I use the L.O.C Method I always make sure I seal with a cream. Right now my favorite is the Eden body works curl defining cream. My hair hasn't been more defined. Great video! You should open up a shop and sell these!!
Hi this is my first time leaving a comment ever. I use a coconut whip to seal the moisture in my hair and I use water aloe vera juice with vegetable glycerin to moisturizes my hair.
To seal my hair I sometimes alternate between a mixture of oils (jbco, olive oil, vitamin e oil, grapeseed oil, and sweet almond oil) or I will use shea butter, all depending on which one I feel is best for my hair at the time. :)
On wash days, I always seal with a combination of coconut, grapeseed and sweet almond oils in the shower. I put the mixture on each section of my hair then run my hair under the water again to get rid of the excess oil then squeeze dry. Once dried my hair feels like butter and I've noticed a GREAT change in its ability to retain moisture when I do this method. Then during the week when I'm remoisturing my hair, I spray a mixture of water and conditioner on it then seal in the moisture with a concoction of shea butter (unrefined), cocoa butter, castor, coconut and sweet almond oils.
to seal my hair I usually use Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Heavy Cream, or Soultanicals twist butter. I haven't used whipped Shea in a while, because my batches never come out right:( they get hard like the next day and I just end up using it as a body butter.
Hi April. Lately I've been spritzing my hair with water, then using coconut on the strands, Jamaican black castor oil on the ends, then lotta body leave in spray then sealing all of that with shea moisture's curl enhancing smoothie. I just highlighted my tips so I've been going a little overboard with moisture to avoid dryness at the highlighted tips. Love your videos!! ☺️
April thank you for the opportunity! As of late, I add coconut oil as soon as I complete my wash process, then add Shea Moisture's JBCO hair masque as I put my hair into 20 little twists - leaving them covered (bonnet at night, beanie during the days) until I'm ready to style into a low bun as needed depending on the setting. My hair remains and "feels moisturized" for 3 - 4 days until I do my whole wash process all over again.
So soft and fluffy and white! When I first started my journey, I only used a leave in and sealed with coconut oil. Now I deal with the coconut oil and put Shea butter on top
Hey April, Can you please provide measurements? I want to try this out, but I would like to know how much of each product to use. Thanks!

& I loooove using coconut & sweet almond oil to seal my hair.

nope. its the highlight of my subscriptions
I love her videos!!!!
For real

HEY EVERYONE! THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS! THE GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!
When my hair is wet or damp, I add a leave in, my butter or cream and seal with an oil. I prefer to seal with an oil because it makes my hair shinier!
Coconut oil has been answering my prayers to not only sealing but to moisturize my fave, oil pulling, and keeping my lips popping!
I love utilizing water as my moisturizer and I seal my hair with either sweet almond oil or olive oil.
My daughter and I are both natural and have gone through what seems like a million and one oils for sealing our ends. We finally found one that we both like, praise Jesus, and works well. Jamaican black cast oil. Loved the video! Thanks

I normally seal with Shea Butter or EVOO. Thanks for the tip about melting the Shea butter! I just whip mine and it does solidify just a few days after.
I love to seal with Coconut oil, castor oil and vitamin E oil when moisturizing my hair. ❤️ you April Bee
Hands down my ride or dies are Aloe Vera juice , Lemon grass essential oil, Lotta Body Moisturizing style milk and of course Apricot Oil😉
I love to use Coconut or Olive Oil 🙌🏾 and when my hair really needs some TLC I seal with a Shea Butter Mix
I like to seal my hair with black castor oil, because my hair is very thick and kinky and the castor oil, as a sealant, makes it soft and supple.

I've been sealing with raw Shea Butter but find it rather blocky and heavy for my 4G hair... your creamy delightful mix will work wonders on my coils.
I like to seal my hair with my homemade shea butter whip, made with 10 different oils:)
Since becoming natural, I love using Shea Moisture products. I see rapid results in my hair growth. Because I have just recently became natural, I haven't tried using any type of Shea butter mix and so I feel using that on my hair will allow my hair to continue to grow and flourish.

To seal my hair I use a mixture of coconut oil, avocado oil, and castor oil and sometimes I like to switch it up and use grapeseed oil
Yayy!!! I'm so excited
Personally I have been looking for something for my hair and this video came just in time!!!
I'm really excited too!!!!
You're amazing!!!
I use tea made of nettle mixed with garlic. I apply it in my hair every day for two weeks and I see a big difference!
I seal with shea butter.
- That was such a professional video, i love it.
Thanks for the video and the giveaway! I like to seal with raw Shea butter or murumuru butter, it always left my hair super soft and mosturized ! xo
My favorite products to seal in moisture are Jane Carter leave-in conditioner, castor oil, and shea formula whipped cream.
I've been sealing with a mix of oils but I think I will go back to basics and mix up some fluffy shea butter.
I like to use either vitamin E oil or Shea Butter because my hair is very thick and coarse, it helps retain as much moisture as possible through out my busy week.
I'm decently going to try this!!! I use coconut oil to seal my hair. I hope I when the give a way
definitely****
Good luck girl!!!!
+Sarah Hassan thanks you too!!
After adding a little water, I like to use a Shea butter mix as well. It keeps my hair moisturizer for days!!
I use Shea moisture moisturizer
I do not use any products to seal the moisture of my hair. I currently have a texturizer and will be doing a big chop in the beginning of June which will be after graduation of high school. Your channel has been amazing viewpoints on what I should do and should look for into going through the natural journey. Thank you for everything and have an awesome night/day :)
I have been sealing my hair with grape seed oil.
How much of the oils did you use ? Or you just eye balled it ?
I love to use castor oil because it really does make my hair thicker after my big chop. I also like to use 100 Percent coconut oil. :)
Wonderful tutorial
I am learning the different techniques for natural hair. My hair is finally growing after years and years of non growth. Currently I use a water base mix with different oils. I am still trying to find the perfect combination.
love how you detailed this video hun ! I like to use castor oil or a butter to seal in my moisture :)

I love using castor oil scented with lavender essential oil to seal my hair! :-)
I love to use jojoba oil to seal in the moisture of my hair. Not to thick not too thin.
Do you sell this internationally?
+TABIETHA SINGH I'm not selling it at the moment.
+April Bee at the moment? So what cha saying is, I gotta chance?! 😁😁😁

That was my problem..it was soft and creamy at first and then it solidified! I'm gonna try this method next time! Thanks April!
My favorite product to deal with is definitely Shea butter. It's a staple of mine, nothing keeps the moisture in as good for me. Great video as usual.
to seal my hair I usually use Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Heavy Cream, or Soultanicals twist butter. I haven't used whipped Shea in a while, because my batches never come out right:( they get hard like the next day and I just end up using it as a body butter.
I like to use coconut oil mixed with Vitamin E and Argan.
I like using coconut oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, and/or sweet almond oil. I mainly stick to lightweight oils to seal moisture in my hair.
While my hair is soaking wet I use my homemade oil mixture (coconut, olive, castor, and avocado) then use some Shea butter.
