(for context, I am quite small so it's not like I am a bodybuilder who needs it) Please don't feel like you have to eat any less than that just because some people eat less!
I sometimes eat mini portions a lot. I have a lot of mini meals throughout the day because my body breaks down food better this way. I’m also hypoglycemic (low blood sugar non diabetic) and having more smaller meals throughout the day is better for my body. Someday if possible I do want to start a RUclips channel although I would never want to trigger anyone. I’ve never had an ED but have lost weight due to medical issues.
As somebody who’s had every ed in the world, It feels refreshing to watch these what I eat in a day videos, I feel like having a perspective on what it’s like to eat normally, would love to see more of that !
I love that you add healthy filling foods, especially the cereal with cottage cheese with the chips because you can enjoy the chips while also getting full from the healthier snack too so you’re more satisfied and less likey to overeat the chips
This is really refreshing to see this time of year. As some who's struggled with EDs this was a really nice sort of reset to see amidst all the diet and weight loss stuff floating around. A reminder of what healthy eating can look like. Thanks you for the content you make!!
I think this is waay too little food, hence eating chips at night. My RD recommended, literally, twice as much food as this, and having chips with lunch, to incorporate them into the meal as a normal food. Nothing wrong with eating chips at night, but it's an indicator she didn't eat enough during the day. It's a common pattern of restrictive eaters. This video is still better than more-restrictive videos, as you say, but I don't think she's modeling eating enough, even for herself. My best wishes to you in recovery. I'm in recovery too.
Also remember guys in the comments dietitians have training in medicine and nutrition nutritionists do not. There are good and bad nutritionists and dietitians but dietitians are the ones who have the medical training and are less likely to promote fad diets you don’t need and are the ones who help people with eating disorders in therapy offices.
Depends on the state in the US! I am a nutritionist and I have my masters degree + 4 years nutrition school in undergrad, i did medical training for 6 years + year long internship and medical exam. I just took a little bit more of a holistic route :)
@@haleycastellano9526 huh good to know. I’ve just seen so many people end up on like 18 hour a day fasts and super restrictive diets with like 10 supplements a day from people they thought were medical professionals because they said they were a nutritionist which they were but they had no medical training.
Depending on your body type, metabolism, activity level, gut health level, this could be: A. Too many calories B. Too few calories C. You could be lactose/gluten intolerant, leading to weight gain (me) D. You could face digestion issues, again leading to weight gain. Every body type is different and I'm sure this lady was merely sharing her lifestyle rather than making any recommendations.
And you can also be like me and be a person who cannot have junk food like those chips in the house and maintain a healthy weight. Everything in moderation is a great theory unless you can’t moderate.
@perfumechocolate8853 It is too much throughout the day. Everytime you eat, your insulin spikes and with her food, which is high in sugar, it's gonna spike very high. Better to eat once a day, even if it's the same thing we see in the video, to level out blood sugar. But preferably a diet higher in saturated fat and protein as opposed to this sugar diet.
As a non RD who has taken several masters level nutrition classes, thus made me feel good about my education and choices. Similar to what my day would look like, and how I would advise others!
Would look like? Or *does* look like? I think we all need to be more real about what we actually eat vs what we think we *should* eat. Especially RDs, and stop it with the "ideal" meals nonsense. I don't think she's being real about how she actually eats, normally and realistically. This is a typical dietitian's video where they promote certain foods and types of eating. I mean, how cliche is the oatmeal bowl with add ins and pb stirred in? And calling it "satisfying." Give me a break! Oatmeal, even with those add-ins, is NOT satisfying. Super hungry an hour later. And just one sandwich, when two would be more satisfying? Plus chips and cookies needed. And the edamame? With just a bowl of soup. Sorry, not being real. No wonder she was hungry for chips at night. Should have allowed herself them with lunch, but dietitians never show you lunches with chips anymore because they're considered a no-no, which is a shame. So we binge on them at night. She may think she's not restricting but she is. This sort of video is harmful, precisely because it is NOT realistic. I hope you will learn from this and do waaay better than she has, in your own work.
I love all of your videos and your wisdom in regards to intuitive eating and living free from diet culture. This has given me the courage to allow my hunger and my body cues to guide me ❤❤❤
Honestly, it's the best way to live when combined with exercise. No guilt once you get it right, and your body still looks amazing. I have some days where I eat 4000 calories (I only need 3000 daily), but my hunger cues the next day or after are more subdued, so I'll eat much less and it all balances out. The important part is that I'm able to satisfy my munchies as they come, and being able to satisfy cravings is so important for food relationship health.

Genuine question from a fan of your channel. Do you choose the vegan noodle option because you prefer the taste or do you try to include vegan and non vegan options in your diet for balance?
Lol at the comment suggesting eating one(1!) meat-free meal is a grift trying to pander to vegans. When the meal before had meat & dairy. And several other meals had generous amounts of dairy. I'm not even vegan - i grew up on a farm & red meat is my favourite food - and I'll often have a veg/vegan meal or even day if I've been eating lots of animal protein, or need a vegie fix. Good luck on the toilet/colonoscopies if the idea of vegan meal or two is so triggering you get this suspicious of anyone suggesting it.
I like how you enjoy the crisps my dietician says i should eat no fat or sugar and i have deteriorated since i am anorexic and now ortherexic as well with very little body fat. So little i cant walk barefoot. Have asked my psychiatrist to explain t9 her she has now made me afraid of all food with fat or sugar basically everything.
I dealt with breast cancer and have gotten very mixed messages on the Soy issue. There are lots of food and herbs that mess with hormones and raise estrogen including dairy, eggs, legumes, certain fruits and veg. I have soy, but save it for my protein source or the occasional soy sauce. I have plant based milk and switch between almond, cashew and coconut. I do avoid parabens, BPA and as many unknown chemicals as I can. But it is literally everywhere. I would just enjoy things in moderation.

A simple way to do this and not have to read labels, which is rather disordered, is to look up the Exchange Lists for proteins, and just have 1 or more servings of the protein foods listed, with each meal. Great plan to eat protein as part of every meal.
I have started to meal prep and I switch different breakfasts like overnight oats or avocado on bread with an egg or cottage cheese with balsamic vinegar, tomato and bread but I noticed that the latter 2 options keep me full for way longer than the oatmeal, even though I prep them in an equal amount of calpries. Why is that? Is it the volume? Because I try to make each of them with a good balance of macros. 🤔
I have a question miss, I want to eat a plain buttered croissant and on the back of the nutrition label it says it has 157 calories. Can I still eat it and do I have to worry about the carbs because it’s bread ? I also want to make air fried chicken nuggets tomorrow is it okay ? I’m confused like can I eat anything I want and lose weight as long as I’m in a calorie deficit?
Yes you can eat anything you want as long as you are in deficit. You don't need to stress about macros too much just remember to eat plenty of protein. Also the more food you restrict the more likely you are to give up or overeat later.

@@pipermaisiemae1999 Most people don't need that much food. Some are super active and do, but not most. It's like snacking, most people really do not need snacks. So if she'd said "what I ate today" sure whatever maybe it was a busy day, but she said "realistic what I eat in a day" which kind of implies that this is normal to her. Thinking eating extra meals/snacks is what makes people fat (including me, when I was younger). Telling them otherwise isn't giving them an eating disorder.
@@pipermaisiemae1999 Oh sorry, I thought this was a different comment. In proper response: If someone looks unhealthy why would you trust them for advice on how to eat? Maybe she has an underlying medical condition but maybe she's just not exercising enough and eating right. She looks unnatural in the clip with her arms and torso in frame. I think posting her body and diet on the internet and simultaneously framing herself as a source of diet information and role model is enough to justify people commenting on her body. What she eats very likely contributes to her body, and her body looks unhealthy, which leads me to question the health of the diet she promotes. Of course it could just be inactivity leading to muscle atrophy, but if she's inactive then this is too many calories for a "realistic day" so it's misleading anyway... Or it could just be a really unflattering video, in which case it's an odd choice to include but doesn't imply anything about her diet suggestions.

Duh on me! I did 20 very quick laps to lower my BGL level... I don't use any insulin anymore these days and I've been controlling this most of the time, but sometimes I misjudge things I consume...
You got me hooked on hemp hearts ❤ There’s something about the texture that it gives to things like cottage cheese with fruit (strawberries and other berries as well as bananas) that makes it so satisfying and satiating. I don’t know why but it reminds me of some kind of strawberry dessert that I had as a child and I can’t remember the name of it…
I also tried hemp hearts after hearing Abby rave about them, and upon researching found out they were an excellent source of plant based protein (I'm omni but try to favor plant over animal protein most of the time). They seemed like they'd make a pretty garnish, too, and they do! And they do indeed taste nice, subtly nutty, it's good stuff. So yeah Abby, you are officially an influencer now, you influenced me to buy those hemp hearts :p
@mariakhan7986 I am though. I cycle 10ks a day. Walk my dog for an hour and alternate between skipping 25 mins a day and doing resistance training. I'm just short and gain weight really easily. I'm 52 kilos but I'll gain 1 or 2 kilos if I drink on a weekend and eat out. Then it takes me weeks to get it off again. I track my weight and calories. I didn't make that original comment without actually knowing my body.
That looks like a day in my life in Florida! Now that I’m back to work full time, I do more crock pot cooking. I mostly use chicken, kidney & garbanzo beans, or lean beef with sweet potato, veggies, mushrooms , onions and broth. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!
People who 9-5 or similar, how do you eat 3 times a day? I started a new job working from 8:30- 5 and while i pack lunch most days, i also rarely eat breakfast or dinner. I'm not deliberately trying to diet so any tip will help. 😅
Prep! I work in tech (8-5 ish usually) and I have chronic hypoglycemia. So if I'm not eating every 3-4 hours I'm getting a horrible migraine. I make my breakfast the night before so I can eat it really quick. I eat leftovers every day for lunch that just get chucked in the microwave and consumed at my desk. Then the only thing I have to actually think about is dinner...which I usually start cooking at around 5:45. It just takes a LOT of planning.
Are you not hungry, then, before or after work? I work from 8.30 to 16.30 and have breakfast around 7.30 and dinner at around 19.00. If I didn't my energy levels would plummet, I can hardly imagine getting through a full work day on one meal, to be honest! I usually eat leftovers from dinner for lunch. Maybe just start with something light in the morning (like some fruit with yoghurt) and an extra helping of whatever you had for lunch or some soup or a sandwich in the evening, to habituate your body to eating more often, if that's what you want?
Where I live everyone starts working at 7am😅 and leaves around 5-6pm. But it’s normal for me to make time and space for meal times and hobbies. But my best tip is to prep your meals and eat leftovers 💕
I try to make my breakfast a grab and go scenario. That way if I'm not hungry or short on time I can eat it a little bit later. Yogurt cups (Greek yogurt mainly) and a piece of fruit or a sandwich. My absolute favorite breakfast at the moment is plain greek yogurt or skyr (fat free works too), 1 tbsp no sugar added jam mixed in and some fresh strawberries and blueberries. Tastes just like stirred yogurt but way less sugar and more protein than the ones in the store. Having some ready frozen meals (Smart ones, etc or frozen lasagna) in ready to go is a good idea for dinner. A frozen lasagna will do me and my husband for 2-4 dinners depending on size. Crock pot meals are great to, get them ready the nigh before and put the insert in the fridge, then just pop it in the cooker before you leave for work and dinner will be done when you get home. I absolutely hate Meal prepping since I work 6-7 days a week I just refuse to spend my time off cooking any more than I absolutely have to.
@@mariakhan7986 I'm not saying that she doesn't eat all that or can't eat all that. I definitely don't think she eats like that every single day ,that's all.

Ohh I legit thought they meant the same thing. Thank you.
Yes. My aunt is a dietician, and it’s a 4-year college degree. She did hers at McGill university in Montreal.
Just remember that nutritionists on Australia still need a 3 year degree, so don't diss them all based on America's low standards.
Nice! Very balanced and nourishing. Like how you allowed some crisps to the day. That helps me not binge after two weeks of denial.
Your what I eat in a day vids are so freaking healing for my soul.
Depending on your body type, metabolism, activity level, gut health level, this could be:
A. Too many calories
B. Too few calories
C. You could be lactose/gluten intolerant, leading to weight gain (me)

Finally! Someone posting a normal diet 🎉
That sandwhich looks YUM!!!

She does it to get in with the vegan trend so she doesn't lose her vegan audience.
Lol at the comment suggesting eating one(1!) meat-free meal is a grift trying to pander to vegans. When the meal before had meat & dairy. And several other meals had generous amounts of dairy. I’m always worried about eating soy because of the estrogen, what are your thoughts on soy products.
It's what I eat every now and then having diabetes. It doesn't spike my blood sugar like other breads can.
This is so refreshing and healthy. As someone who has recovered from an eating disorder this is exactly what I would hope to see my nutritionist eat.

@@kinseylise8595 I was talking about you body shaming her. Critiquing her body is not necessary.

😅😅😅 so seed oils in every meal, the foods that cause the most inflammation of the body? And barely any protein or "real" food. Yea so healthy 😂
Did we watch the same video?
@@amyjay1654soy milk..:is a seed oil. Peanut butter is inflammatory and no healthy at all. Oats is another inflammatory food group. Like that's the first three seconds of the video 😅 I think you need to re watch the video and not listen to anyone who says "doctor or dietician" recommended, fun fact corn and seed oils is actually only 100 years old which means they barely have any research to show this is healthy for your body 😅
The fact she had more fruit in the afternoon on top of introducing sugar in the morning is already a bad sign. And seeds again 😂 oh and now processed milk which has absolutely no nutrients
@@amyjay1654 and more seed based food for dinner like where are the nutrients and I get you she takes supplements to replace what she doesn't get through food and also fun fact if you do research (deep) research you'll find that over the counter supplements actually only give you 1/3 of what you need 😂😂😂😂haha
@@amyjay1654okay and a snack which she didn't need because she had three full meals, with once again fruit which is more sugar which will break down to carbs so about six servings of carbs per day 😅 and than cereal which has mad made ingredients not natural and it's wheat which is inflammatory to your gut
I love your videos and the knowledge your sharing with everyone! Would you say you eat a maintenance amount of food a day?
Im on a big fat loss journey so I'm in calorie deficit atm and I am finding it difficult. I'm all up to speed with high protein, healthy carbs and healthy fats. I do breast feed still and get minimal sleep as well
Hey I know this was a few months ago but if you're breastfeeding you really don't need to be worrying about fat loss. Being in a calorie deficit is not good for you or the baby because breastfeeding takes a huge amount of energy. I would just wait until they wean.
@mary-catherinecroshaw6369 thankyou :) in such a different place now compared to my last comment, I'm trying to slowly wean at the moment she is nearly 2 and am needing a break so I can focus on getting fit again
I like this video. Love the foods you include. They seems easy to copycat especially on days when you don’t feel like cooking.
Yummy yummy yummy. Good choices!
