Past doing a wood side Grand Wagoneer or old Woody's, I think donating to a school for kids to use and explore the next level of learning in a fantastic idea. You lucky SOB and your custom T&J 60 series. I love that thing.
I am more of a scale guy, but I have 2 laser engravers in my workshop. I use them to make all sorts of scale props : crates, picnic tables, benches, tool boxes, ramps... you can build the entire garage too! And that is just wood! Working with plastic opens up even more possibilities. I say hold on to this tool and look around you for inspiration... once you see how much you can do with it, you will wonder how you ever lived without it! Love the channel! Happy Holidays from Canada!
@scalebuildersguild Matt, I never realized you were in Toronto! That is a testament to the fact that you always keep politics and other social issues out of your channel, which is something I can appreciate!
I have a nice spot in my garage you can store that LASER and use it when ever you want 😅. Love the trks Landcruiser! I thnk im going to follow along with you build along.. im very interested
Ok, so I see a "Pimp my ride" build in the future. Use the Lazer to cut out SBG logos on a body and light them from behind. Maybe fill in the cutouts with resin to give it structural integrity and logo colors? Obviously, spinners. Felt interior? Shag? Speaker box pumping out Xzibit jams? You better get on this build quick, or you're going to lose your shop! Or use it to cook bacon and eliminate the incorrect "smells".
Ideas for the laser: 1. Laser etch emblems from dual color acrylic 2. Laser cut windows for hard body builds 3. 3D print parts and then laser etch details on to them 4. Cutting trail signs and barriers, etc 5. Cutting styrene sheets 6. Etching anodized parts like wheels or axles, chassis frames, etc. 7. Other stuff.
Matt!!! Can’t wait to see the final 303 build with my and Chris’s portals under it!❤🎉❤ Seems like decades ago we did MadMooseRC. Everyone thought we were nuts and bashed us for releasing portals. Who doesn’t have portals these days….
Way ahead of the curve Tedd! So glad to see you comment, can't wait to share more progress on this build! Thanks for following along, and thanks for putting those axles out!
"Swedish box" doesn't narrow it down as much as you'd think. Lots of brands from sweden are famous for boxes. Volvo is obvious from this video, so is IKEA with their flat boxes. But you can also cook on a swedish box, electrolux. Want a box that has a blade on it and can cut trees? Husqvarna. Want a box you can take photos with? Hasselblad. Need a flying box? Saab, althought thats a stretch, they are famous for a flying barrel i guess. Looking forward to see what you do with this iteration of the box!
@@scalebuildersguild As far as i know, husqvarna makes a lot of boxes that make noise. Lawnmowers, leaf blowers, chainsaws etc but i'm not sure they make sewing machines anymore, but they have a motorcycle department, just a bit less box shaped unfortunately
Good morning Mr Matt and Ms Rebecca, that 60 series toyota is really badass. Should really keep the laser for custom work, etching frames, axels etc. There's a lot you can do with a laser. The wood work with the laser is awesome. Truck bed turned out great. Merry Christmas to all and a happy new year ahead. God bless and keep wheeling 🙏
Hi Mr. Mike! I think I found a good home for the laser and I can go and "visit" it whenever I like! A win-win, because we just don't have the space to justify it- and the fumes were pretty bad in my little workshop. Thanks for watching and we're both sending you and your family all the best for the holiday season!
You can get a similar powered CO2 laser that is more versatile for half as much. I would only recommend that option for tech and mechanical savvy people, however.
How ironic I just drove a buddy's 60 series on a 4-wheeling trip this past weekend. Unfortunately it broke something in the steering and would not turn left. So to go left I had to turn it like an eighty's RC and turn right back up then I could go left. We got it home though. Good looking truck
I wasn't a fan of the smaller scale stuff either, however having built a custom project on an Ascent 18 chassis recently I started to see their appeal... and have just put together one of the Meus Racing Rippers using all aftermarket parts, and would concede that at 1/18th scale at least, they are actually pretty decent performers these days! Might be worth an episode on the Meus 1/18th stuff perhaps?
@@scalebuildersguild I'm the same - the driving dynamics ( and the potential for customising and tuning) are never going to be the same as a 1/10... It was more how impressed I've been with the quality of the Meus aluminium components - it's surprisingly good quality, just tiny!
0:19 "What am I doing with my life?!..." 🥲 😁 Nice episode Matt! 👍🙏 That Toyato looks amazing! Great acquisition! Everyone's getting engraved coasters for Christmas... 😛
Very very nice Yotatoy! Matt: As a RUclipsr?.. can you promote companies to produce wheels with POSITIVE offset? I think it’s only a US company, Locked Up RC that does them. EVERYONE else have NEGATIVE offset in almost any configuration 😫… Also: Straight axles with track with to SUIT a scale hardbody.. I’m really tired of wheels 1 meter outside the bodies..🥸 Thank you🙏😄
I can ask, but most manufacturers are going to a scale hub which can vary the offset, which is a lot more cost effective. Look at Boomracing, I think they have variable offset wheels too.
@ Thanks, I knew you would understand 😉 But no, Boom Racing only have a couple of wheel that «barely» do positive offset - and that’s mainly by using the pin hub.. which to be honest is a pain all together, and better left alone except if you glue the wheels on one chassis. 😜
Its 2024. There is no excuse why companies are not selling more hardbody options. Its bullshit. There is a market obviously. And no not 500$ either, like the blue RC4wd toyota xcab on ebay. Lol Ridiculous pricing. Pssh
There kind of is... an injection mould takes a lot of machining, and the moulding process is also more complicated and takes more time... conversely, vacuum forming over a buck is quick and easy, and it's also easier and cheaper to update a vac-form buck than it is to machine a whole new injection mould. But I agree with you - lexan bodies (and even individual panels) while arguably more scale in actual panel thickness, just don't have the detailing or robustness you get with a proper moulded hardbody... I think the primary issue [for manufacturers] is cost though - they have to be confident they will sell a lot of one particular body style to make the up-front investment in an injection mould worthwhile.

Hey Matt! Richards „Toyato“ is a DREAM!!! Oh man, i wish it was mine… Three Cheers 🍻 for both of you!!! 👍👍👍😎
He did a great job!
Very cool buy!!!! he did a great job 💯
I’d love to have that FJ60 body… I wish there were more Toyota hard body options out there.

The FJ is a great addition to the fleet and the bed cover looks great on the Blackfoot body! Tow winners in my book!
Ooh VOLVO! I just started month ago printing my C303 Volvo project, looks like we same desinger on Volvo model.
The FJ60 NEEDS a Twisted Fab long leaf conversion. Amazing bit of kit he makes for the VS-410 platform.
Yes, he’s done great work. I already have his setup on one of my trucks, this may also get it!
Engrave on the optic buggy body panels 😮
I'm surprised with how important your hobby is to you that you give it so little room in your life.

You should laser copper panels for the leaf sprung buggy, that you tried to etch

I've used laser cutter to cut out windshield for model using transparent plastic. So you can do that for this new Volvo model
What type of laser? This one won’t do clear materials.
@@scalebuildersguild that was CO2 laser.
Engrave HP10 plates. Items for the next build off?

Bad news, he already got rid of the stuburban.

The lack of basher content is heartbreaking. I thought this was the scale bashers guild!
I added an in line 4 inch fan to help get all fumes out..

@3:26 TOYATO?
What about cutting styrene for bracing and sup-structures in scratch buildin?
Totally, just the fumes would be pretty bad.
Any suggestion on cutting the drive and passenger window on a rc4wd blazer for that rolled down look. Seems pretty thick and im a lexan person
You’ll have to carefully use a Dremel, and then sand and polish the edges.
Check out the, Vyper elevated steel max stool
It's a nice stool but they don't ship to Canada

Where did he get the STL?
Couldn't find it at YouMagine or anywhere else...
Did you try Cults3D?
Donate the Falcon. Let the kids learn to play with lasers and smell the fumes.
Swedish boxes…hehe…
Does it smell like campfire when you're lazering the balsa
But not as good!
Could you design a truck in fusion and cut styrene parts with that laser?
I'd rather print at this point, same material, much better end result too.
