I am very happy that Hpi is finally coming out with new stuff hopefully this is just the tiny beginning of new Hpi models to come . And yes not much for micro trucks but I will support and buy this one !
@metalrc absolutely agree! We need HPI but to be back up top with brands like traxxas and HH. More competition is always good for us consumers. I would love to see them bring back the cupracer or something similar but new. They already have a plethora of awesome bodies for that platform Im not really into small scale vehicles but I'm thinking of buying one of these just to support HPI.
I'm honestly impressed with this little HPI. The 2 speed is not my first choice but it is what it is. Overall I think they nailed it and I hope it gains traction in the mini/micro world. Bonus points to HPI for making the headlights a period correct yellowish light instead of hyper white like we see with most.
The yellow lights and being able to turn off the turn signals were the final selling points to me on this truck. So sick of the bright white lights on everything.
Still have and love my original 1/10 Venture. Super stoked they are reviving this brand line. They killed it with this first entry into the mini world.
I think they nailed the looks of this. Less TF2 and more Stomper. Even better yet it seems like they built what us smaller crawler generally want. What a concept.
This is a cool little pickup. I don’t have a mini but they do seem that they could be a lot of fun. I hope this is the starting of a comeback for HPI. I loved them in the 90s and would love to see them be a big player in the market again.
I sold my scx24 after about 6 months, I hated working on an rc that small... but if I was to get back into small scale, which i have no desire to do, I think this hpi brushless version is the one I'd get. Great video again Matt 👏
I have a sneaking suspicion that HPI outsourced to Hobbyplus, Flysky and Furitek for many parts on this truck which is totally fine because this truck is awesome. The esc that came in the Hobbyplus Arktos 6x6 also had the ability to turn the indicators off and that esc is made by Flysky.
HPI has always been pretty up there, they just stopped pushing advertising when they were struggling financially. I remember the 1/10 Venture was great, they just didn't have it on the market long before all the troubles hit, so the aftermarket never really took off. From what I have found over the last few years, aftermarket support is about 70% of what makes a good scale platform (mostly because most trail rigs are so good these days) Their Savage is still the best 'true' 1/8 MT on the market, the Vorza is still in the running for best RTR buggy available, and they still have some of the best body molds in the business
I like this, HPI didn't really hype it up other than saying some sort of new 'Venture' product was coming soon. They could have completely gotten away with releasing something similar to the Panda Hobby rigs, but they quietly sent this brilliant new truck around and let it do the talking for itself.
This is definitely a nice 18th scale offering from HPI. SO very glad someone took that "giant step forward" to give us the ability to switch turn signals off properly! The body looks good even if it isn't 100% perfect. It will be interesting to see what aftermarket options become available for it. As for small scale burnout - no, I don't have it. I think there's a place for 24th and 18th as much as there's a place for 10th and 8th scale. In fact, I'd love it if more content creators took up the challenge of detailing the smaller vehicles as much as they do 10th scale.
Brother absolutely great video footage when your driving in 2nd gear looks sweet and had to take some skill to keep the camera on that little ball of hpi goodness. I think this truck is awesome especially with the brushless option like big big wow factor from hpi on this release. Thanks again matt for keeping us drooling over all the delicious scale creations.
Nice little truck. Dingle dangle, yall! Affordability is going to weigh increasingly heavier in the next couple years, so small scale will remain popular. I love them all. I struggle to service the small ones, but patience is a virtue.
yes i want to see a video of you taking apart and re-assembling things, every things! (RC, A toaster, a tv...) I think Hpi did a really awesome truck, it should compare well to the furitek fx118 (jeep), they are the same price and have some similarities. I really hope Hpi brings back some of their older models, specially the hpi mini trophy truck!
Totally agree! I love that detail too, and I know he didn't love the chrome wheels, but they're period correct too. I'd love to see the bumpers and roll bar available in chrome like Traxxas does.
Wrenching videos are great videos! Bring them on! :) Great review Matt! I've been saying this everywhere... I think this is an awesome release from HPI. I do wish them a lot of success. I think this platform has great specs and comes at a great price. Light kit, drive train, body, electronics... Go HPI! 💪
So glad to see this release! My first hobby grade car was the HPI Blitz Flux RTR and it was such a cool and capable vehicle. You guys always made awesome and unique products and I missed ya. Looking forward to what’s in store and definitely going to pick this mini Venture up.
I got to drive both versions a few days ago. Hands down the best mini truck to date out of the box. I was impressed and so far i haven't been with the mini market
Not too much a fan of smaller scale, even sold my ascent18 BUT this is by far the coolest 18th out rn and it RIPS! Dam its fast. Loved the review! Thanks for opeing it up to see the internals!
Nice truck! You did a great job of videoing the speed run. Don't think small scale is showing any fatigue. It's got so much in its favour. Budget, space, aftermarket, artisan creators, to name a few.
Seems like a better value than a trx4m, having the brushless motor and two speed included with the RTR. 1/18 is nice, but it seems like you only need one or two and it makes sense to mainly keep them stock. Not much performance / scale looks gained versus the $ for parts. 10th scale just gives you so many more build options. FYI We need a montage of Matt screwing & unscrewing parts, and crashing during his reviews. Hitting the box on the bench not once but twice earned the like for this video.
The Hobby Plus Arktos also has the option to turn off the turn signals. This Venture has a callabo with Furitek and Hobby Plus. That’s the HP Evo transmission. Cap over the nut is also a HP thing.
Hi I have and drive everything from 1/10 tamiya kits ,grasshopper, konghead etc to my 2wd slash. Plus occasionally I drive my 45cc rovan baja. Love your videos by the way. Kind regards Paul.
I felt that fatigue an just bought an scx6 honcho, which I love. Then realized it's big heavy an it's cold outside. So I went back in the house and just ran my scx24 lexus 😂
Definitely buying this for a trail rig! So glad to see a new mini scale truck and with a brushless variant! It looks so good and the lights, color me chuffed! Hopefully the injora 7kg fits in it, that’s a perfect upgrade for a light trail truck. I also have 1/10 scale stuff too. Love all rc’s in all scales 😁👍🏻. Thanks for another great video Matt!
Not sure if the furitek is a good idea or not. I’ve never had problems but know several people that have. It looks fantastic other than the wheels. One of your best reviews tho by far. Very thorough. Bout time someone thought about turning off the turn signals. May truly be one of the best 1/18 released in awhile
Yeah the turn the lights on and keep the turn signals off is the bees knees. Hoping this means HPI is getting their feet back under them and we can see some other new rigs or updates to rigs in the future. I have the 10th scale Venture builders kit and it is awesome.
I kinda really like the small stuff! I have a highly modified Scx24. I 3d printed a Capra chassis. So I have a 24 scale Capra and a 1/10 scale Capra. I run my micros a ton
For sure there is a market for every taste and preference. But I did not know how much I was burned out of the 12ths and 10ths scales until I got me a Kraton 8s. I consider myself a Scale nut, like Tamiya and this little truck you showed here, but since I ran that little moster on 8s, I just thought how awesome would be to have more available options in that 8th or even 6th scale (other than the Jeep we all know, which yeah no more Jeeps....lol).... Thank you for your videos, sir!
Nice, looks like it's worth a go at that price, I do wish they would bob the bed on these pickups. Especially with a hinged body system on a lexan body. It just looks and performs better. Although that departure angle looks ok. Great video as always.
That speed control is the thing with brushless electric motors, but you can also make it on DC motors. Or at least I think it is due to the electric motor
I sold all my 1/24 scale stuff on E-Bay, just couldn't fiddle with the super small screw's anymore. Now I have a TRX4M High Trail & UTB 18 way easier to work on .
Very good HPI 👏A hardbody option soon? They did well here.. much better that Traxxas with the 4M’s.. I sold both mine. Now I only have a couple of FMS non FCX left along with my Mini-Z 4x4’s The small cars are best left more scale. 1/10 can more easily be both.
I’m still enjoying the small scale rigs along with my 1/10 and that’s not just indoors. I take them out trailing. So no small scale fatigue from me.Nice vid btw. 👍🏼👊
This looks like a great small-scale crawler. I have more than one person should have in small-scale crawlers. I also have 10 and 6 th scale. I am currently working on making replicas of my Gladiator and my sons cherokee.
I'm very impressed with this truck and brushless with the light kit and 2 speed and tuneable esc out of the box is great I don't like the 18 scale but I have all 4 colors of the trx4m f150 trucks because ima sucker for that body
I think it looks pretty cool. Skeptical about the 2 speed trans, simpler is better on this scale. Would like to see some comparisons with other "1/18" scale models like the redcat 18. I like both small scale and the larger scale trucks, admittedly its getting harder for me to see and deal with the tiny butt screws in smaller scale. We have a robust small scale comp scene here so it continues to be engaging for me.
Sweet lil truck....I wonder if it'll take 7mm hex 1.0 rims....or if they used 5mm hex and have to use adapters. First time hearing the HPI brand. Thanks for sharing it....🤘🤘
This is meant towards the kssy video i was watching. Redcat 18's I dig it! Maybe I'll get both. To answer your question. The og accent 18 is something I been considering picking up. It's a tough decision when we are talking cost. How much is the shell and bumper? Something to consider. Or are you thinking of running a cliffhanger body? Yeah idk.
That's a nice little vehicle. I wonder if this is a trend for HPI? As for the turn signals... YES! Turn. Them. Off. I'd rather they not be there at all than constantly be flashing whenever you turn the wheels. What I really want is to be able to signal a turn from the transmitter and then have the turn signal cease flashing when the wheels straighten. I know, I know, but I can dream can't I?
I am very happy that Hpi is finally coming out with new stuff hopefully this is just the tiny beginning of new Hpi models to come . And yes not much for micro trucks but I will support and buy this one !
It’s just beautiful 🥲👏
It's a part's list RTR everything is on something else without HPI printed on it.
@ who cares !
@@lgrc6120Just means that it has plenty of aftermarket support.
@metalrc absolutely agree! We need HPI but to be back up top with brands like traxxas and HH. More competition is always good for us consumers.

Bonus points to HPI for making the headlights a period correct yellowish light instead of hyper white like we see with most.
Agreed Art, on all points. At least the 2 speed implementation was nice and far apart between 1st and 2nd.
They really did especially on the detailing. The view of the vehicle’s base looks to be a HobbyPlus Furitek similar to the CR18 Rushmore range
Exactly what came to mind. I loved my Stompers WAY BACK in the day.
Yes. A Tonka Stomper!
@@turbo4zetec I recently designed a Tonka Stomper. Combined several childhood memories into one little package.
I have the brushless one one order, red. The ONLY thing I'd like is manually switchable lockable diffs. Otherwise is perfect for me
I would like to see something in a 1/16 or 1/12 scale, not so tiny but also not so big. Just right for traveling and wrenching on.
Well this little rig is all sorts of awesome! Agreed, the wheel/tire combo is a little off, but whaddya gonna do? Marty and Jennifer would be proud!
For those of us that are new to the hobby and really appreciate the channel, keep doing what you're doing sir👍🏾
Thank you, I appreciate that! Welcome to the hobby!
What a perfect little truck! My first hobby RC was an HPI, so I have a particular fondness for the brand. I just wish this one was a little bigger.
Will be my first HPI rig no doubt.
👍
Enjoy!
me too
I love this release, the fact they have two options for power, and a two speed. It's awesome 👍 the micro rs4s were awesome back in the day
Can you tell me the name of some of them cause I only saw big ones on RUclips from back in the time
This is an awesome looking machine out of the box. Brushless, Oil Suspension, Light Control. Im impressed now the Price is the Point.
This is a cool little pickup. I don’t have a mini but they do seem that they could be a lot of fun. I hope this is the starting of a comeback for HPI. I loved them in the 90s and would love to see them be a big player in the market again.
I think it’s really well-made, but it probably won’t be officially released in Korea, so I might never get to see it in person. Wishing HPI the best!
I sold my scx24 after about 6 months, I hated working on an rc that small... but if I was to get back into small scale, which i have no desire to do, I think this hpi brushless version is the one I'd get. Great video again Matt 👏

The gearbox is definitely HobbyPlus and overall it reminds me of the Furitek HobbyPlus vehicles
Maybe? I don't know anything about that!
Well u get good truck by using one of the best parts sources
I just heard about this new HPI and now I must have one. I hope it is as good as how I remember how good HPI was in the early 2000s.

Absolutely agree with your point about 1/18 and 1/24 scale rigs.
I do like this. I especially like the black brushless variant. But I have multiple 1/24 and 1/18 that I don’t drive already.

Great value and great job, HPI; really impressive little thing. 1/18 is my favorite scale so no fatigue for me.
Thanks for watching and Cheers to a great 2025!
Finally someone made an actual good truck , very minimal upgrades needed , some bearings, a steering link and maybe tires
