Where I’m from spray paint all over and no vin screams stolen
Yup, I Was thinking the same
Silver and gold are the favorite colors of tweakers and huffers.
Who tf does that bad of a paint job lol 😂
In that condition, not even the cops want it leaking oil at their impound lot. They figure just possesing it is cruel and unusual punishment. 🤣
No doubt. They stashed it by the river or lake to beat on it. It's been in the water. All rotted out.
This dude just crushes it!!!! Turns out videos constantly holidays weekends doesn’t matter. He is the David Goggins of making RUclips videos.!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joe, of all the things I admire about you, you’re articulate and proper use of the English language is right at the top. So refreshing when compared to others. Thank you for another really good episode.
"Man that's CRAZEE!"🙃🙃🙃🤣
HE NEEDS TO LEARN SOME SWEAR WORDS
🤷♂Me fail English, that's unpossible
@@catsbyondrepair I know working on some of the stuff he brings home I'd be using BAD words aplenty
Thank his upbringing.
I’m a renovator of bikes etc in the uk.. I would cut off the cross member where the crack is… ally weld the cases, then weld back the cross member… also fix the rotted frame etc while I was under there…. It’s a days work but the machine is good on the land or farm …. And it’s a Honda… they run forever… good luck with the thing. Enjoy your channel too. But more 60s and 70s bikes if possible, that’s my thing…👌👍
any trikes around? im in uk too :D
Come spring there will be a few on marketplace I’m sure…. I don’t deal in trikes. Sorry
Part it out
May be hard soldering (bronze) is possible? Anyway it would make a good video to repair it. Just a matter of how more money is earned in this case: By making video or by trading the vehicle.
I’d go get a hand held sand blaster from harbor freight and sand blast all that plastic and paint it
If you look at the top of the fuses you checked. There are two silver dots on the top to the right and left of the AMP number. You can test the fuse without taking it out by putting your testing wands on those dots. Keep up the great work. Great channel!
I would JB weld the crack, put on a hitch and use at the land to pull your mower. Alternatively, JB weld crack and sell to someone for $450 fully disclosing the problems and giving them link to this vid to show work done on it. Great job and thoroughly enjoyed vid.
I agree with philbennett Get rid for $450. too rough for you. Frame rusted to death.😜😜
yes sir
without any doubt, this is the best channel i am subscribed to. Great content, educational, in depth analysis and detailed repair!
You are a prolific content provider with dogged determination.. Keep doing what you are doing, it works.. happy 2025
Your knowledge of all makes and models makes you a better tech than 90% of school trained techs who only know how to bolt on parts and have no idea how to search for problematic symptoms.
Yes, its amazing the number of tech schools that absolutely do not teach reality and common sense repair. They seem to teach only the agenda of the industry sponsors. JUST THINK, SOME KID GROWS UP TO REALIZE THAT HIS FATHER WAS A WEAK SELLOUT!!!😂😂😂😂
JB weld it and keep it at the land for a work rig. Hondas don't stop. 😂 Awesome video man!! I've always liked Honda Ranchers. But I'm a Yamaha Big Bear fan for life. For 300 bucks you can't complain.
I agree
We call those yard machines.
Yes. JB weld the crack. Coat the frame with some "stop rust". Use it as a yard beater until the day it finally dies. Not a sellable unit...but a classic beater. Hard to believe people are so careless with equipment...that thing has been through some hard days.
The frame is the big one that makes me think it's not worth too much spent on it.
If you could only find a used frame in good shape
Replacement frame is a few hundred bucks. Could be worth swapping it over after having the case welded.
So, I can't sleep tonight, and what to my delight shows up at 4am!!! Winning.
The same lol
It's a Honda!! Enough said! Sad to see the rest of the rust, crappy paint, lack of care, etc. Thanks for the video!
Nice to see the tools upgraded to Milwaukee. It pained me to see the struggle with the amazon power tools
Joe buys a ATV to teach all of us, how to fix up and get it running. We are all students when Joe teaches his magic. Joe "The wizard". Credit to him for paying $300 out of his pocket, for us to watch. thankyou bud.
Not teaching me I just watch to kill time.
Lots of teaching and learning moments, not just about ATV/motorcycle repair, but life in general. Start with the basics, work the problem, make adjustments as needed
@@jerrywilcox9890 wasting your life much?
@lesoram6236 Hell no, I own a trucking company. I bring home 2.1 million a year far from wasting my life, lol.
@lesoram6236 I can buy and do what I want hahaha.tried to come at me and lost lol.
I’d definitely like to see a attempt at welding it. Just to see the result.
there is a way to "weld" a crack like that. not sure if it would work on this. It's called "stitch weld". I have used it on engine blocks. don't need a torch. look it up.
It’s too far gone but it’s a good parts quad . It’s also a good way to see how to weld aluminum if possible. Inside.Good luck on that. Hopefully.
Nothing like some 2 vintage at 4am
Yup
I feel that I'm in Pennsylvania and I just saw the post and I was like well I'm awake I guess here we go
7pm where I'm at 🎉 a steak and vege with 2vintage on the the big screen
Yep…it’s 4:15 in Hawaii now…😂
4.15am in NSW Australia
"You gotta risk it for the biscuit" -- My old saying -- "You'll never succeed unless you're willing to fail."
That things hotter than a bean burrito fart
😂😂😂
Agree!!
It has a vin it's just rusty.
Land beater. Can't beat that for the price, you can pull trees and whatnot at the land or just whip around for fun. Keep up the good vids
@ 44:22 you almost had a bad fire. Gas coming out of cylinder and yep we have spark!! You got LUCKY!! I have had this happen to me before and wasnt lucky,,flames everywhere and things burning. I did put it out with no major damage but scared the crap outta me.
Actually he had it happen to him a few months back...
He Knows about That!!! Check old videos😂
Not even close.
Joe, I think you are right on about not fixing it up. Frame , engine and plastics would be a lot of money plus your time. Scrap it for any good parts you made need and call it a day. It was worth 300.00 for the video content at least.
Thanks for the video.. I don’t know the history of that quad, but like items have been stolen in this neck of the woods through the years and the first thing they do is paint bomb everything and park it behind sheds and such out of site and worse; they don’t care for their theft item as it becomes a throwaway or they parts it out. They driving it down the salted roads through the winters without care is one of your main culprits to all that rust - Wisconsin loves it salt. I am glad you are taking the care needed to put this machine back into working order.. Hopefully the past legal owner had theft insurance and that you can apply for a license for the machine. It’d be a good end story for the Honda… Cheers from BRaF!
Amazing that you got that rough machine running and driving without spending a lot of money. I would weld the cases it's a more permanent fix or find cheap (unlikely) replacement cases.
Champion effort Joe, good content, that thing has been in some serious salt. I would not ask you to fix that thing. Love your work from AUS
Good morning Joe! Please don't forget to sell me the Bridgestone 175 ! God bless you and your family!
Weld it up!! Worth a shot. Maybe let this one go and just JB weld it and keep for the farm misc. use!! Dont waste your money on a full rebuild.
It seems that it’s been used in a dairy farm, JB weld leave it at your land to pull your mower.
Pressure washer with the sand blaster kit will rip all of that paint rust everything right off that thing you would be shocked how good they work..
Mt thoughts exactly, there is a product called steel stick, it comes in a tube and is a pudy that you blend together. You cut what you need, blend it, and it will bond to steel. Even a gas tank that leaks, it sets up like a rock,, you can drill and tap it. I have used it and it's great. Then keep I on the land, if someone steals it's not a big loss.
2Vintage makes me feel like I can fix anything 🤣
I’m just impressed. This thing came back to life. I thought for sure it was locked up.
Joe, you need to get yourself a mechanics inspection endoscope for looking in engines and tanks.
2V Joe, you are on a roll man! I think that's number 5 in a row for a good runner for low bucks! You're also a very smart mechanic who can trouble shoot with the best of them! Congrats!
Joe you should have Vinny go with you to check out your buying of projects 😂😂Lol Great shows Joe
Argh! A much bigger project than many of us would dare tackle. BRAVO, lots of teaching/learning moments, even if what NOT to buy
We all know it is not Truly fixed until 2Vinny chases it down and approves
It does scream stolen...but as far I see it's too rough to spend a bunch of money on Joe I'm happy you got it running and moving. Id Kee it for around the property see if that crack can be welded. If that frame wasn't so rough then it could be saved to pass on. It's too far gone for that Joe!!!
powersportsnation has a clean frame for $600, new case is only $500... worth saving at those prices.
My first thought was to tear it down and save all the good parts for future repairs, it has a good motor, transmission and all the rotating parts work. Then you got it running and driving and because it drives and runs so well my position has changed a little bit. I wouldn't go full rebuild on it as it is a beat up quad but I think it would be a great quad to patch up and use as your new beater quad. Weld up the cases (good time to buy a welder with an aluminum spool gun), fix the rear brake, get the throttle cover replaced and the parking brake fixed. Don't worry about the plastics or the side cover. It will be a great running beater quad for years.
You’re like a junkie chasing the dragon. How beat up can a bike be and you still get it going, normal bikes just aren’t a challenge anymore 😂
Thanks for another great episode, Joe. I admire your mechanical abilities to diagnose and solve problems as always . I can't wait for you to start laying out your new dream shop.
That Honda deserves some love. PLEASE do a full rebuild on that thing, frame and all.
Amazed you got this quad running so quickly! I would love to see you weld up the engine case crack, repair the frame and either replace the plastics or restore plastics to original red colour plus new decals. Then generally tidy everything else up. I would also be interested in learning if you can somehow trace the history of this bike - maybe through the Honda dealership network if vin is missing and deal with any legal / documentation issues.
I DID NOT KNOW THIS WAS A COMEDY SHOW! WHOEVER SAYS RISK IT FOR THE BISCUIT?!
You know it!!!
It's really difficult to judge what a machine will run like looking like that, but when you see the hours and mileage you realise that someone just didn't look after it at all. It probably spent its life in the elements full time.👍❤️
Love the content bro I’m making my own channel video coming out tomorrow
I just subbed good luck 👍
@ thanks so much means alot!!
I subbed too, get wr done!
@ thanks so much you guys means a lot!
Use the aluminum muggy sticks and braise that crack. Fix the rear brake ignore the rusted out parking brake and call it quits. Super nice job especially diagnosing the no spark from the wide open throttle at the throttle position sensor
2012 isn’t that old of a machine to look like that! 🤣 i would love to know the full history of this thing!
I really wonder who owned this ATV and made it become this state of pure dystopia. That "paint job" made me gag mentally, and the frame.. god.. the frame! Somebody who didn't give a single fork owned that ATV for sure.
I think somebody who stopped making payments and wanted to keep it unidentifiable to a bank personally
With the rattle can paint job? Stolen.
I’ve got the same machine in mint condition. Nice to watch you work on a machine that I know very well
I think it’s a good candidate for parting out, rims and tires alone 150$, seat 100$, fuel injection 150$ list goes on. Could make good money for new projects.
Honda is life, you proved itthank you joe for the multi voice I am French and I translate it into French to watch your video I love what you do
I’d like to see a full on restoration. New frame, new plastic,….etc
I think it would make a great video series to do a full restore
I would love to see this as well!
You don't restore a bike with a extremely rusty frame. Gotta start with good bones.
No sense and restoring a stolen quad. By the time you're done the original owner will claim it.
@@Happyfacehotwheels probably already paid off from homeowners insurance claim
If quad runs good find a good frame and swap engine to good frame good restoration project I have seen you work on worst I have been watching you for years you're great diagnostic and getting bikes running again
Not worth the time and money.only thing it's good for is parts.
Happy Days Joe Has Posted 🔥🔥🔥
🥈
I just finished repairing the frame on a Rancher 350 that looked just like that. I used 3/16 thick angle iron to build Rock sliders" on the whole bottom of the frame. Twice as thick as factory tubing and the rigidity of the 90% angle. You can also just pick up a complete rear swingarm for about 200 on ebay.
For 300 bucks isn't bad at all can just sell parts out because that frame will snap
I wouldn’t throw any more money into, especially given you have multiple other machines. JB Weld the crack and use it at the land to test the limits of JB Weld. The frame won’t last much longer anyway. Entertaining as heck, you are awesome
LOL there at the end I was waiting for the frame to desolve .
I fixed an Al oil pan in a cat once as an emergency in a remote area with JB, and when I returned to base a week later I found a replacement. Idecided to keep it till I saw it dripping. Years later that replacement gathered dust in a shelf. Not a drop came out, and it was more than a square inch of puncture. The whole cat landed on a sharp rock. I never trusted jb weld that much, but after this I was sold. You'd think an old pan would contract and expand 2-3 times a day reaching 250F at times. But it has to be done from the inside, the outside fixing is useless.
Love this channel, thank you for giving us hours of entertainment! I'd part it out or keep the good parts for another project. Sometimes, a turd isn't worth polishing lol...
My experience with cracks in casings (when I just want to do a quick, hack repair) it to grind the area out in a V, and roughen the metal around the area, clean it well/degrease while keeping the engine tipped to keep oil from running out. Apply a smooth bead of “THE RIGHT STUFF” gasket maker to the area and smooth out with a finger. Let sit for specified time to set. I had to use this on an old Honda Big Red 3 wheeler with great success (lasted 2 years until I sold it). Prior to that I used JB weld as well, but it continually failed due to its rigidity.
Good morning Joe. Looks like it is stolen to me. However if I was to do anything with it I would pull the casing clean it up tig weld it if possible then just fix what you can. For what it’s worth at least it’s repaired right then part it out or sale it to try and make a quick buck as long as you can prove that it’s not stolen and it come back on you in some way
Joe if you can put aside the obvious cost what a wonderful project it could be as a before and after project to show you admiral experience. Then perhaps offer it up to a youth club perhaps on hard times GOOD ON YUR
awsome videos man! i always look forward too the newest drop
Best channel on RUclips. I noticed your 2vintage hat. Was wondering if you have any for sale or any other merchandise? I would probably wear it.
Can't believe how fast it fired up. Great Job!
Appears to have been stolen at some point. Was probably under a tarp for a considerable time holding moisture in which caused all of the lower parts to be rusted through.
I would attempt to weld it. Not that you plan to keep it, but it's the perfect machine to hone your skill on properly repairing a case like this.
There's no beating you Joe. Good job buddy.
Weld the cases, or JB. If you keep it, fix it. If you fix it, keep it! That's my mantra.
Joe I know you love any way of saving a dollar when you go through these machines. For motor oil, the Rotella T4 15w40 diesel oil has the JASO MA2 rating meaning it is suitable for use on wet clutch systems. It is completely fine and safe to use in 4 wheelers and dirt bikes. And the stuff is dirt cheap.
Um would you be willing to take a tip from an older mechanic than you ? When checking for spark, buy replacement clips for a small battery charger that fits most spark plug bases and make a jumper with the two clips so you can clamp one to the frame /engine and the other to the plug. This way you can get a good ground and view for the camera to see the spark.
I've been thinking the same thing. It's just a jump wire with a big enough end on one side of it that it will clamp onto the spark plug. It would simplify the spark testing a lot for him. There are several things he could use. I was really close to boxing up something for his electrical diagnostics and sending it to him but I got busy with other stuff.
As far as what to do with that thing, considering the severe rust, that crack and the overall looks of it, I don't feel there would be value in repairing it.
replace frame, but before check the VIN thing, Joe you are very good at this stuff, thanks joe
Yeah, I get some paint stripper strip all the fairings and the guards well the engine up clean up all the frame good to go top.
Tigvetsa it as it is now, if you can't find the frame number it's not worth splitting the engine. The plastic needs a lot of work too. But really good job getting it running and finding all the problems.
Looks like that Honda was sitting in some mud and water for several years to get that type of frame rust. I would suspect that water got in the crank from the environment and cracked with many thaw / freeze cycles….hence no oil. It would be a great episode to see if you /someone could successfully weld the case and the frame to get it back to “beater” status. Would be a great machine for a farm/cabin/cottage.
Wow! I cannot believe you got that "heap" running!! A++
You Need a Boltster for all the disassembly you do.. Throw up a PO Box so long time fans like myself can send you the things that help us around the garage.. Or, Hey #Bolster Hook this guy up with some product. One of You Tube's finest right here!!
To weld, especially aluminum, the surface has to be really clean. You’d have to disassemble the whole thing to do it correctly, so IMHO just JB Weld it and keep it as a workhorse until it dies. Great work!
Had a hole in the bottom of an 1986 xr250r. Jb weld lasted for 4 years of pretty hard riding and 1 hare scramble. Still fine when I sold it. Good luck!
Joe, I think you should try welding the case. And while you got it on its side cut out the rusted plates and put new ones in. You have 300 buck plus your time in it. Spend a few bucks on it, you will have a good four wheeler to work at your property. Maybe 500 bucks plus your time. It seems to have the same power as mine does.
The frame is tooooo far gone, just part it out while the parts are wanted. Great work, Joe
I wouldn't put all that money into it, Joe. I think you know that too. I was amazed that you were even able to ride it. As soon as you had spark, fuel & compression, I figured you'd have it running.
Take a dremell and gouge out the cracks and make a V in the case and on temu they sell low temp solder Stix that will work with any metal. They are low priced and work great. Just clean it up good after gouging and with a torch lay a bead in the cracks and you'll be amazed!
Pulling those motors is NOT a fun job. I'm sure you can find a new case section fairly easy or have that one tig welded somewhere. Just be careful pulling that wierd cross mounted hoss. Greatvid, needs lot of TLC, I know you'll get her back to good.
I'd love to see Joe get a vintage Spanish dirt bike from the 70's to work on. I had a Montessa as a kid and it was a really cool bike.
Use some paintstripper on the plastics, and JB-weld the case. Sell it off as a beater ATV.
With that much rust on the frame, i wouldt care more about it.
Thnx for another entertaining clip.
This is one of my favourite channels. 👏👍
You can get and use aluminum welding rods. I did an Arctic cat 500cc case years ago. Worked better than the poor stick weld they previously tried to use. All done with a small map gas/oxy torch, but there are some tricks to it, mainly you have to get the case hot enough, so I had to actually use both a reg propane torch and the oxy/map gas to get enough heat into it, then it was just like soldering. I doubt JB weld and silicone will last long. Nothing to lose cuz otherwise with the cracked case, its a parts bike. Or find another bike with a blown engine and build one out of two.
Damn shame someone abused that machine like they did. Honda's are awesome and reliable. Having said that, it is too far gone to throw much money at. It would pay you most to part it, and I would say stick it out at your land, but how many do you need out there, lol? Nice fix though Joe, great job.
This ride would make for a great series of videos!! Sometimes stepping outside of the box is very educational and allows your talent to grow!
She's beat. I say part it out, and do a shorter video telling us all what parts sold for! Keep up the awesome vids, Joe!! Can't believe it runs, even if it is a Honda!
I love all of your videos, but get disappointed when I see an ATV or SxS video because I ride bikes and would never stoop to that level. All jokes aside, great video.
Joe, seeing this thing on the trailer even before you bring it inside, scares me....lol
Now I'll watch...
These are the best ones bringing a beat up bike back to life
I get your point! Flex your skills buddy!
I'm only a minute in...and I watch ALL your video...and I'm wondering at this point WHY? If you got this for free...if they paid YOU to take it... I mean WHY other than the pure challenge of seeing if you could get it to run would your take it? Assuming you get it to run (and I'll find that out over the next hour), who would then be willing to take it from you...at any price? Maybe you'll address some of these questions in the next few minutes. What a great mystery! Update after watching...another wonderful video!
Fix it!! Amazing that it turned out running and driving!!
Joe, can you imagine someone bringing that to you for repair? The labor alone would amount to more than the worth of the quad. That's a project for someone with a lot of spare time and disposable income lol. Just started the video...
Joe, that bike was used on the roads in the winter with all the salt on the metal, so that's why it is so rusted and rotten with the low mileage.. Too bad people don't take better care of these machines.
How fun watching this video! You had it running in no time! If cosmetics are holding you back, go for it! Restore the damn thing!
