thanks for the link, i dont know why i didn't just look at your channel for this haha, i think i found your channel right after you posted this but you post so much it got lost!
Looking good!!! I've used plaster in a lot of model railroad applications. When the plaster cloth is wet, you can smooth with your finger to spread over the holes. But if you're doing mod poge and texture it probably doesn't matter. I have a 4x8' table in my basement, but I learned quickly,,, you want the high terrain in the middle. Anything on the edge results in crawlers falling off the table. I'm about to build a new one in my 3rd garage stall. I should have about 10x12' raw to work with, not including standing space. My plan is to use as much natural material as possible, including a waterproof container to act as an optional real mud pit. Mine will be flowy though, with specific routes for competition, etc. I'll probably do a mural behind it for good photography. Maybe a Moab theme. Last of all, I'm using an old salt water reef tank full spectrum light, so it will appear like natural sunlight. Just gotta remember to wear sunscreen! 😂 I'll create a new channel and journal all of it too.
Hey man, great work on that whole course it’s beautiful. One word of advice I learned from my uncle, when cutting consistent lengths on a miter saw, put a clamp or something as a stop with the edge towards the blade the length you need I.e. 6” pieces call for a 6” stop from blade side to clamp side

Thanks! I added some rocks after the video and painted them to match. I’ve also got some more plants but I haven’t opened the box yet. I’ll get there eventually!
Great course build Adam! We have built 1 4ft x 4ft section for us so far. We are looking at building us an indoor "L" shape course here soon. You have inspired me on some awesome ideas!. Thank you!
Yes because that’s just one section then you just make another section and so on and then put them all together And you have one big course but each section is it’s own so one section don’t need a lot like you said don’t overcrowd yeah awesome
That’s awesome dude, here in my little town of Manchester I do mean little, but the people really decorates up front of their houses for Halloween. Someone’s got the 10 feet tall skeletons they are awesome . Hope you show more of yours looks pretty awesome
Great video and great detail to the course. I have been working on mine for the last year or so, I just keep adding something new. I have added a river with epoxy! Very cool stuff to use and looks great when it’s done. I made my course mobile as well. Two 2x4 sheets of MDF. Catch is all side line up so I mix up like a jig saw puzzle. Some times it’s 4x4 and sometimes it’s 2x8. Keep building. Cheers.
Thanks for watching! Your course sound great. I would love to do a water feature. I may carve one out in the new canyon feature at a later date. We’ll see how brave I feel!
Hey Adam…. I’m going to model your course. I think it’s got a number of great continuous obstacles and climbs. Thanks for all the advise, and ideas to use. You’ve got a great layout for an indoor course. Love your rigs and informative videos. Thanks bro 💪😎👊
I've been thinking about starting a mini indoor course and this gave me some great ideas, so thanks! I'm also from MA and looking to get something going before winter so perfect timing finding this vid. I'm just getting into the mini scene and have a SCX24 and an Enduro24. Would be great to have something like this to bash around on. Never made any indoor courses before but have made some outdoor tracks in the past - getting creative with things like table top jumps and banked corners using just stuff I had laying around to make things work. I guess my only thing I would want to incorporate into an indoor course that yours doesn't have is some real dirt paths to test traction etc. and maybe a water feature. But the stuff you've done here certainly showcases a lot of great techniques to build the base and add on to with other elements. Good stuff - got me to subscribe. Just getting started with my channel - check it out if you get a chance.
Great video and tutorial. I am getting away from bashing and into crawling. Love the course ideas, easily obtainable materials! Looking forward to watching more and can’t wait to get started on mine!
This is an awesome build!! I like the flex feature you put in. I didn't see it at first but that is great. I'm going to be building a course in the near future. I'm still gathering ideas. I'm very glad I watched this video before I started building. I think I would have tried to put to much into my build. Going to try and leave some driveability on the build. Every inch doesn't need a rock!!
So an idea I was thinking... The cracks in the joint compound look a little too white. I wounder if you were to re-coat with a bit more but this time around add a bit of grey coloring to the joint compound a little lighter in color than the finished surface. Then when it cracks it would look a lot like natural rock. A lot of the expansion foam to me looks a little too much like foam as well. Don't get me wrong it all looks great but that might be a pretty good upgrade for later on. Color a bunch of joint compound and give it a full new coat to give the entire mountain a very natural look. Great course by the way, it is really inspiring me to make my own soon. Lastly, "Duh Dad, why else would we be outside with our work shoes on!" :D
Thank you for the video! I am curious, how do you stabilize the build? For instance, at 6:08 you can see the table wobbly, mine does the same but at 21:58 you added some side supports it looks like and some leg support? Could you add all the measurements used in the description, as a viewer I can't find out how you attached the supports and what sizes? I'd love if you could possibly post a follow-up video of you actually assembling the table and the supports? Thank you again! I LOVE the content!
Great build, but I think the rope bridge makes it look too busy (and the logs are set too close... need a smaller diameter logs, set further apart). I think a small trestle bridge would have been a better look, been more in keeping with the New England look, and could have been made challenging with small missing sections of the decking. Of course, this would have been WAY harder to build than the simple rope log bridge, and I understand that in keeping the video a shorter length, the rope bridge was the way to go. Maybe a teeter-totter type bridge...
Give it a couple of days the spray in foam falls apart real quick not to bum you out I built a really nice piece I called the rut and it fell apart on me quick put plaster over that spray in foam and it should last the glue down Moss don't run it over ever cuz it'll peel right off unfortunately and anywhere your tires hit any kind of foam it's definitely going to burn right through your pain. Overall it looks nice though
I’ve had pretty good experiences with the spray foam holding up. Mini Moab, the big spray foam section is about ~6 months old now. The moss, plants, and other accents do need constant attention to keep them nice though. And the paint rubs off of the styrofoam pretty quickly. But structurally I’ve had good luck.
I'm in the middle of my first little course build. I'm using mostly blue foamboard trying to get some height out of it, with multiple "floors"to the structures. Turning out pretty neat but I guess we'll see when it's all done!
I want/need to finally build one myself. Dont really know how so this video did help alot. Now i just need money for the materials (paint, plaster sheets, styrofoam etc.). I have some wood and cardboar boxes home so i think thatll be fine.
What great ideas… thanks for sharing that. I live in the flat lands of south Florida so I don’t have mush to model after but I’m gonna try something like this. Looks fun. Thanks for sharing. God bless.
i feel like you cant fail with that car though... it's sickness don't get me wrong, but i would rock a closer to stock 24 for greater challenge (even though i know a stock 24 couldn't do half those obstacle)
I'm building a small course on top of a flat cardboard box. I'm gluing boxes and foam down to make the park and then paper mache on top of everything. I started yesterday and should be done today.
I’ve done a 1/10 scale outdoor course at my house but looking into one of those mini crawlers (for winter) and an indoor course. I really like the plaster sheets and the expanding foam. Just curious why you didn’t cover the foam insulation sheets with a little plaster to make look a little more natural? Either way, it looks really really good. Great job 👍
I've tried doing the sheets over the foam and it didnt take. Because the foam flexes underneath I couldnt get the sheets to adhere properly. I may have done something wrong but I had a difficult time with it
This is great! With cold weather coming, we are getting ready to start our indoor course as well. The fake grass and rock really helps give a more realistic look. Now if only scale model trees weren't so ridiculously expensive...
Yeah it’s the same thing here in Manchester Michigan almost Halloween the weather is definitely changing quick that’s the beauty of the 1/24 scale yeah
A section where you’re looking over a canyon and to get to the other side there’s only two ropes going across that’s the rope bridge I’m talking about just the rope we set one up for the width of our rigs on one side we ran two strings a rope for that a little wider chassis or wheelbase lots of fun just a thought hope you use it
Thank you for showing us your complete track build 👍I have watched many hours of your crawler posts, and it's great to see your course build in Detail 🤗 Greetings from Northern Europe....Harry

Man you have some amazing wheeling trails up there! Beautiful area. It's quite a long drive for me to get out there, but I try to do it once or twice a year!
My ocd wanted to brush out those glue runs on those steps so bad lol ,but gotta say it looks awesome . My girlfriends son had a school project he had tried to get his dad's help but he was "busy" he had to make a model of the intestines he tried a few times on his own and since he was trying I offered my help I used a 2x2 piece of 1/4 "plywood ond took minimal expansion foam and followed the outline of the intestines and I had him paint it with a rust colored spray paint it came out perfect and got 2 A's one for his paper and one for his project.
@@CapeCrawlers yep once it was finished you could never tell ,it was awesome after all put together . Mini moab looked great all you need is a trail mater rc for recoveries lol.

I want/need to finally build one myself. Dont really know how so this video did help alot. Now i just need money for the materials (paint, plaster sheets, styrofoam etc.). I have some wood and cardboar boxes home so i think thatll be fine.
Do you let your kid drive the rc cars
Oh yea, he has a bunch that he wont even let me touch! LOL
I started listening vs. watching at 6:00 and then flipped back at 30:00 and went WOAH! Nice work.
When it starts to take shape it changes quickly!
At this point in the gladiator build...what servo was you usuing? I'm new to rc and got the emax, but I feel it's underpowered on my course.
Glad you liked it! I agree regarding the plants/trees. Even the little tiny plants are very pricey!
Thank you this will help a lot
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching!
Hello cape crawlers! What did you use to cut/trim the styrofoam insulation sheet? Thank you!
Really surprised you didn’t make a scale jeep from the Jurassic Park movie and add all them Dinos on the course for realism
Is there a video to that SCX24 build, I’m trying to achieve that level of flex?!
When I get enough money, I'm gonna recreate that super flex Jeep that you have
New to 1/24 but an old time RR layout builder and the techniques you used are spot on.
*Dude nice trail we built a scaled terrain for our mini crawlers and ours just keeps growing and growing.
Your setups are amazing!
Yeah it’s the same thing here in Manchester Michigan almost Halloween the weather is definitely changing quick that’s the beauty of the 1/24 scale yeah
They're great to have fun in small spaces!
A section where you’re looking over a canyon and to get to the other side there’s only two ropes going across that’s the rope bridge I’m talking about just the rope we set one up for the width of our rigs on one side we ran two strings a rope for that a little wider chassis or wheelbase lots of fun just a thought hope you use it
Thats a great idea and sounds super technical!
Thanks for posting this. I am retired and looking for something to occupy my time Thanks
Mate I like your hat - doesn’t look like it’s made in China either - where can I get one? Cheers dude great work there
Thank you for showing us your complete track build 👍I have watched many hours of your crawler posts, and it's great to see your course build in Detail 🤗 Greetings from Northern Europe....Harry
Súper cool. I did mine as a Utah themed course built on a 4x8’ plywood. I like the mini Moab details.
Just checked out your course, it's amazing!! Great work!!!
@@CapeCrawlers appreciate that, thanks. I am hoping to add some plant life this week.
Yea. I'm building my 2nd custom 1/24 and then on to an indoor course. Here in CT... at about mid Nov, early Dec I don't hit the trails either.
You're not far from me (I'm in MA). Time to prep for hibernation for us 😆
These videos are superb!! In every way barely got into the 1/24 scale crawlers and your gladiator build has been my inspiration!! You’re an awesome content creator
Thank you, I appreciate that!
Does he produce some more for sale...
Sylvain from Montréal
Foam coat is a great and durable material. Making foam rocks for the crawler corse. Foam coat factory for all your foam needs. Nice build keep us informed on how. Durable the plaster is.
Will do!
Right on have your crawler with you as you build Yep
Can you do a video walk through of the upgrades u have on that jeep??
Heck yeah man outstanding 👍👍😎 You sure gave me some great ideas appreciate it. Will catch you on the next one
I love mini Mayham I like how you touched it up with the black looks like trucks has been driving up and down it for a while super cool
Dude there’s definitely something to be proud of wow that’s beautiful man I love it I really appreciate this video you sharing awesome
Where did you get the interior for the gladiator
It’s comes with it from the manufacturer
@@CapeCrawlers is the gladiator the only one that comes with the interior
@@BermPeakClips the bronco does as well. I believe those are the only two
Where’s the video on the SCX24 Jeep that you built? I wanna see that.
Right here: ruclips.net/video/uAGVojsNAdc/видео.html
I’ve changed some stuff like the furitek brushless motor, shocks, and wheels. Otherwise it’s pretty accurate
What are your favorite scx24 tires for outdoors
The LGRP swamp kings are my favorites!
@@CapeCrawlers have you ever tried out the new injora mud terrains they look pretty good
@@Norcal_Flyways you mean the brand new 64mm ones? I’ve got some of those in order. Very excited to get them on and try them out!
@@CapeCrawlers yes I do and hopefully you make a vid on them I’m looking for some new tires and I like the big ones just don’t want to spend 50$ for a set of 4
Wow thanks for this wonderful video on building a course. It was one of my next questions, but pretty much you got it covered. Now I have a plan on how to start working on one for myself at home. Thanks Adam
the way you said this was perfect. ruclips.net/video/I8uidVXdLkg/видео.html
Excellent video. I'm just getting ready to start my indoor course for my 1/18th scale. I'm just getting into the hobby. You have given me a lot of great ideas. Thank you.
Really nice project and a great video! I like it 👍
Aye what's up I live here in mass aswell Worcester county out here in athol orange area, love the ma bell trails uuugh
Haha the paint and texture hid the glue runs pretty well. Great idea for the school project! That insulation is perfect for that!
@@CapeCrawlers yep once it was finished you could never tell ,it was awesome after all put together . Mini moab looked great all you need is a
trail mater rc for recoveries lol.
Hey man I have those same shocks on my scx24 but they don’t work that well what did you do to yours?
Check out my shock setup video: ruclips.net/video/uEEJrSswJ08/видео.html that should help you out 👍🏻
Maybe I missed it , but how do YOU cut & trim the pink foam board? Thanks!
I used a jigsaw
Yeah for those flex shots taking shape dude I love it really appreciate you sharing
What axles are you running on the gladiator? And do you have the extended hub weights on them ??
Rcawd axles. I run treal +5 hexes on it as well
Walker Laura Robinson Brenda Young Susan
i'm going to do one this fall , thanks for the ideas.
Just got me an Scx24 with brass upgrades. Its the blue gladiator you have lol
Awesome, enjoy!!
You could post 4 hours of you building courses no time lapse and I’d watch it all day 🤣👌🏼 trying to get some inspiration to start on an indoor course for these muddy nasty days!!
I can’t stand the breathing I dead ass had to turn it down a lil
Awesome, I’m here watching for this yeah super cool 😎👍👍
What battery upgrade do you recommend? Like watchin yer videos🤙🏼
I really like the EcoPower trail batteries. They’re 450mah but have great run time and they’re small, making fitment easy
can we get an invite 🙄
Come on over!
Excellent instructions, perfect.
I will definitely be using some of your hints to build mine when I finally get the chance. Thanks for this video.
Glad it was helpful!
See I don't just say negative stuff.
I say positive stuff too.
