Building Our Indoor Rock Crawler Course in 1/24th Scale

  • We made this entire RC rock crawler course out of things we gathered. Most of this was made with materials we already had on hand. The items that we purchased were the 36”x80”hollow core door from our trusty Home Depot, the plaster tape, the realistic water from Woodland Scenes, and the moss rocks were all purchased from Amazon. I bought the Mod Podge from Michaels and the rest I already had.
    We wanted something that would be lightweight so we could move it outside or onto our massive island. All of the bridges are removable and can be changed out if we decide to switch up obstacles.
    I personally decided to not use spray foam or spay paint because in the FL heat I did not want to work in my garage. I also think that unless you carve the spray foam it ends up looking like dog poop and I decided against spray paint for two reasons, #1 Is because of the cost and I knew that I needed several colors, and #2 was because I could add more detailed painting it by hand.

    • @Dirty_SouthCrawlers
      @Dirty_SouthCrawlers  2 года назад

      Actually it wasn’t too bad we used a high density Styrofoam and it cut like butter with a knife with minimal mess. I know that some of the cheaper Styrofoam can leave a ton of mess but this one didn’t.

    Can’t wait to get my wife into sharing this hobby with me! I recently got a TRX4 2021 bronco and she’s already suggesting little things here and there like “it would be cute to have an interior” and she bought me a second battery. Now I just got to have her drive it with me and get her one too!
    After we move I really want to get a SCX24 and build an indoor course like this for the winter. This looks awesome you guys did a really good job!

      Hi, Janet here with Dirty South Crawlers. I would love to see more ladies enjoy this hobby. My hubby bought me the 21 Bronco too and I love that truck. I now have the 1/24th C10 and the Jeep. My husband gave me the idea for this course and then let me run wild with it. Be sure to subscribe and show your wife. Maybe she too will get inspired.

All of the bridges are removable and so is the covered bridge. We did that so that we can build brand new bridges and different obstacles when we get bored.
