Building a Crawler Course for the Ranger Station! Who knew fixing drainage could be so fun?

- The Berm Peak Ranger Station is our Mountain Bike vacation rental in Brevard, NC. Right now the Ranger Station has a bike workshop, a wash station, a mudroom, and many other amenities, but today we add something totally new; a Remote Control Crawler Course. Using what we know about building mountain bike trails, Kevin and I build a place for crawling at the Berm Peak Ranger Station.

Kind of blown away by Seth's generosity and constant desire to keep improving an already amazing Ranger Station. If a rider gets injured or the weather turns bad, guests now have yet another option to entertain themselves. Seth, Kevin, Curtis, and everyone else who contributes to this amazing channel, thank you. You guys are killing it!
Thanks bud. We have a great team.
I know it’s awesome, at least if someone does something shady it is like a hotel and he’ll have their info. Hope he has someone to check it in between rentals
Watching Seth go from a patio in Florida to this makes me smile. I know he’s worked his butt off to get here and to give back to people gives me faith in the rest of humanity. Well some of humanity.
I would love to come stay at the Ranger Station but I wish i had friends to ride with and rent it out with 😢
Oh dear
I'll be ur fren
I’ve got friends. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be. No friends, never have to help anyone move!
I’m there bro
i got u bro ill be ur friend
Seth:"we aren't gonna build any trail features"
Also Seth: "so we built this sick little rock garden"
...and so it begins. :P
Hey Seth those chargers don’t charge the battery cells very evenly so if you want them to work well and last long you should consider getting a charger that charges the cells evenly
And turn the RC off, THEN the radio 👍
@@900DonkeyPunches its a 2s lipo
@@jerryvolpini7987 doesn't matter that much because they are 2.4Ghz transmitters and not quartz... But still, it's a good habit!
those chargers are perfectly fine for those batteries.
I purposely bought those chargers because people may drain the batteries all the way down. Proper balance chargers will just refuse to charge them up after that. I’d rather balance the cells every so often or replace the batteries than get constant calls about the batteries not working.
I'm not into the RC stuff at all, but it's so cool that visitors kept everything in order and actually added supplies.
So nice that you added the crawler course for future visitors!
The type of people who can pay $1,800 to stay at the ranger station are not the type of people to intentionally take a 10 dollar park tool:) I'm an airbnb host too and have had great experiences with guests at our place; we're on a lake so we provide lots of lake stuff for guests and they appreciate it.
Definitely cool, here in the UK all of them tools would have been nicked
I'm the type into rc as you can tell by my name 🤣
idea for the crawler course, a scaled down berm peak trail marker, like the ones you have around your own property but like to scale for those micro crawlers
This is the only youtube that my mum will actually watch and enjoy
looks like a "mum" wrote this comment
Good choice
Awesome! Now we have to come back. I will be honest, while we were at the Ranger Station, we did "steal" a cable crimp end from the tools for a repair. But I do think that is what they were there for...
Only need a model train layout now, HO scale wold be nice.
I’m N I like it because it’s space saving but a plain to work on
Hell yeah man!
What about g scale or lgb would be best
Model trains are meh by comparison because once they are built, they are stagnant and stationary. Just about anything can become a crawler course.
We enjoyed the experience, Seth! Thanks for allowing us to be the first to try out the crawlers! So fun! Kids were cheering you and Kevin on when crawling up the ramp! Haha
Cool vid. Maybe a larger custom sign above the crawler station with instructions for the renters on the batteries and charging. I’m sure someone can design something worthy of the ranger station or you may have something in mind already
Agree Ron H, and great video Seth, If Possibly supply rechargeable transceiver batteries too, as they are better for the environment.
@@yorgosk2938 As long as the transmitters aren’t left on the battery’s should last for months or even years. I’ve had my crawler for about six months and I had to replace the batteries in the transmitter one time because I left it overnight by accident
@@unnamedracer9757 Hi, and thank you for that. I was none the wisest about the transmitters' battery usage.
Someone's gonna mistake this for an MTB rock garden
Now to turn that crawler course into a life size one for the gitter 🤣
Even if stole any of Seth's stuff it's and Airbnb they know who you are and more importantly have access to your financials and they'll just bill you.
This is dope I wanted more RC content and u delivered thx great vid
I love how that little girl gets the controller and just drives straight up that ramp, no problem 😊
the ranger station and all of your love towards it never fails to put a smile on my face.
Rc safety tip from an rc enthusiast;
I must advise you to not store or charge the battery in the vehicle. The batteries should be removed and kept in the bag when not in use or charging. Nor should they be left plugged in to either the car or charger when unattended.
Hi Seth, I suggest you paint a ""road-like lane"' at the end of the ramp through the end of the door going to the rock crawling section. I think that would be cool!
Great video Seth! When installing the power board though, rather than measuring the holes on the back, stick a length of blue painters tape over them. Mark the holes then transfer the tape to the bench/wall. Perfect everytime 👍
TIL and I'm 50 lol! Thank you, great tip!
I’ve been waiting for this! Great video.
Damn remember when Seth was just a dude making MTB vids down in Florida? Love how far you've been able to take it man! Never gets old to watch you!!
While mountain biking recently we ran across a group running their crawlers up one of the chunkier trails. We stopped to chat about our respective toys and I thought it was kinda cool that I already had some experience from Seths channel. Kinda a fun convergence of life and internet.
Glad I got up early today!
Seth, I love that your are a businessman who cares about the quality of your product. Your Air BnB looks amazing. The effort you put into it really shows. Keep up the great work, you make the mountain bike community proud.
Great idea, I love the RC content. Also, I think it's great that your Ridgeline puts in more work than 90% of the full-size trucks on the road, haha.
What happen to you other channel Seth’s bikes sorting I for got because I used to watch you like 3 years ago then shooed and randomly found you again
Edit Seth’s bike Someting
Hey seth!! Me as a fellow hobbyist, love how you are getting older hobbyists and new people to enjoy RC's! I work at a hobby shop and everyone comments on the scx6 jeep on how you rode on it! Its awesome seeing the impact you left on the hobby! Thanks for the great videos!
Next to the crawler station you should put a QR code for people to scan that links them to a short video of how to operate the crawlers
dude this place is becoming more of a perfect getaway dream.
I think I could go up there, never get on a bike, and still go home happy! 😉😄
Seth since the pandemic my son and I have been mountain bike riding. Since then I have found that my son has enjoyed the concept of mountain bike riding. I have a Diamond Back Release that my son has grown to like. I have parts to build a 29 inch bike and was hoping that you could help me find a Large Full Suspension Release frame with rear shock. My intension is to build the bike from the ground up with my son and both of us having the same kind of bike. I have been going to bike shops and they've been offering me a complete bike when all I'm looking for is a good quality frame with a rear shock. Me and my son watch your videos on RUclips and have picked up on a lot of your tips. Thank you Seth
I love watching your videos man around 3 years ago I started watching and now I have started a back yard trail of my own and I'm getting my first full sus 🙂
Love you bro.
From the back of my heart.
I have a question. I am thinking about getting an SCX24 but I can’t decide which body style I am going to get. I heard each of them have some differences. Any recommendations?
Unless you've tested that specific brand of Li-Po bags and know that they work, I wouldn't trust it. Watch some videos of these being tested -- they don't do jack.
The lipo bag is a must! However I would caution you that the bag does nothing if it is not zipped closed as it mainly is used to keep a large column of fire from shooting out of the top of a LiPo goes bad. Don't ask me how I know this!!! However since the batteries are so small I don't think you will have many issues! Good on you for getting any LiPo fire protection as most people forget about doing so.
Horizon hobby is low-key awesome. I got my first rc buggy from them and it only broke when it got t-boned by a Slash going full speed.
If someone stole something , you can just see who the last person that was in the ranger station.
I don't know how many guests they get but he's not going to go around checking every single small tool off a checklist every single time to see if someone stole a 5$ tape measure ... at the end of the day it's just better to trust people until something "bad" happens, and then reassess or account for it in the cost of rent
When you are the owner you are not visiting the place after every guest visit because that's the property managers job to turnover the house. Property managers don't take full inventory because it's not practical. There could be several different guests who stayed by the time you realize something is gone. It's best to just not worry about it unless it becomes a serious issue.
It's like 900€ for 3 days, people who can pay that much wont be the one stealing bike tools or rc cars.
@@Theserranov it’s not a lot you know
What happened to the enduro-barrow? That wouldve been perfect for that job.
The reason people don't steal the tools and take care of them at the ranger station is because you have everything neatly organized. It tells them that someone cares about it and so they care too. If they were just thrown in a drawer Half of them would be lost / broken.
Could you please give me a MTB for free I am an MTB lover please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Man i cant believe if tiktok hadnt reccomendid him to me i would have never found my favourate youtuber
Seth is so respected by mtb community, customers who book on his Airbnb supplies him
Hey Seth, do you still have the bmx kicker ramp cutting board? U should put it at the ranger station
When attaching a power strip, put long tape on the bottom to cover the whole. Then mark the holes by punching the thru. Next, transfer the tape to the bench top and drill the holes. Perfect match every time.
Love the channel.
Hey Seth! Im looking to take advantage of holiday bundles for a cordless tool system - I never expect to be doing as much as you (volume) but definitely dealing with the same materials.
Im starting from blank here so any system is open! Other commenters welcome
Seth what is that wheelbarrow man?!!??! Where’s the mountain bike wheel barrow you made at your old house
I learned how to balanace my bike not moving from this guy like 10 years ago
Bought the little yellow jeep and made a custom body out of a 1 25th scale kit they are awesome 😂 GREAT VIDEO 👍(I am a huge fan!!!!)
Also made a course for it they're so capable 😁
Seth the sand will get In the bearings and if the motor is brushed or not brushed it will go in the motor and probably brake it
As an rc lover that’s epic but I can only see problems with people who aren’t cause lipos r dangerous even those tiny ones
Hey Seth, why don't you put cameras in the tools and the RC Crawler area, better to be safe than sorry.
Who thinks he should make a rock climbing wall at the ranger station???
I love it! Those crawlers are so much fun, I didn't realize how fun it actually is until mine broke down, I am waiting for parts right now and I miss driving it a lot more than I expected
My entire RC life story. Just burned out my esc lol
@@SteadySpin I feel you, I somehow smoked the motor on both my rcs and have nothing to drive right now
Truly enjoy all of this content. I got the son a scx24 due to you. I don't have the funds for MTB but I live vicariously through you. Thank you I appreciate it more than you know.
Any update to the crawler course? Going well?
This is so wholesome Seth, hopefully some day I'll find myself in the states and be able to stay at the Ranger Station. Hope your guests are always nice with the place.
You should building a pump track for them
I love it Seth! Keep it going!
Ngl 1/24 are shit. 1/10 is where it’s at
". . . building this for a rainy day activity"
I don't think putting electronic cars under the downspout of a gutter while it's raining is a good idea
These are designed to be fine in the rain / water. Not waterproof, but highly water resistant.
"So if this happens it is going to light on fire" *says calmly* 12:13 lol
there's a lot of ''first'' lmao
Awwww mannnn, been watching you for a while and seen previous crawler vids of yours but this one has definitely inspired me to get one and build a track for me and my sons 😁 with limited space, you've showed me to be creative love it..... x
I’d love to design a leaflet for the ranger station
In calculus rn but who cares cause Seth uploaded
kevin seems like if he got mad he could move those rocks with his teeth🤪 thank goodness he's on our side and he's a good guy! Need Oscar representation at the ranger station!!!
We had a joke the other day that we are “Pinky and Brain” 🧠. But at the end of the day we have a great team at Berm Peak
Rangers station is gonna be booked the whole year
The USB chargers are the fire hazard. Especially if the power source is too strong. A quality charger properly set should pose little to no risk. Great course! You make me want to open a Crawl and Breakfast so I can claim RCs as a business expense.
Why don’t you use the bike wheel barrel
This is a great idea. I will say, as a hobbyist. Don’t tell them they can get wet, they’re water resistant which really just means that it won’t explode if a drop of water touches them. I’ve got a deadbolt and they are not submersible and should avoid water where possible. The other thing is you should take the batteries out to charge them. Even in the bags, they could take engines and esc’s with them. Otherwise I think this is great.
First
Ewww no
Ur first
I love that you made that ramp as a genuinely good way to very quickly learn the extent of the grip and rollover of these trucks.
...And you're REALLY gonna leave them stock? Is... is that even legal? Not even a tire upgrade?! No wheel weights!?! Can you at least relocate the suspension mounts or put the headlights in the headlight location and remove the front bumper?!?!?? How is your inner RC Hobbyist not screaming "LET ME UPGRADE IT! It MuSt Be MoDiFiEd!!! LIGHTS! STEERING SERVOS! THIIIINNNGGSSS!"
where is the wheel barrow with disc breaks
We need a berm peak RC sticker now
I love the wham mam teslacam music
You do such a great job making anything interesting! I’ve loved seeing how far you’ve come Seth, you are such an awesome guy.
The battery bag is a great idea especially after having my horizon sprintjet battery explode while charging a couple weeks ago
Hey Seth I know Christmas is coming soon so I had an idea that you could light up one of your trails with lights.
Any way that's just an idea also cool video! (look for LED Christmas lights)
seth i'm one of your biggest fan here in the philippines, i've participate enduro race last week luckily i've got eight place even though i broke again my RD but still ive mange to finish the race...maybe you have some spare BOX one component that you've haven't use can i have it for christmas...hehehhe tnx, and more power
A top-notch tutorial for all RC crawler newbies.
P.S. I would expect that the downspout shown at 8:01 is going to modify the course substantially, over time.
A group of friends and I helped to build a nice 3 car garage for my buddy and 5 months after it was finished it burnt down because of a LiPo battery, taking his two classic car projects with it. There was much much less enthusiasm building it the second time.
4:21 why no endurbarrow
You should make a mini warm-up trail at the ranger station!!
SCX24s are super cool. If you get the taste for the expense of it, going brushless is very worth it. It'll crawl at speeds it's barely noticeable to be moving.
Seth, how about some FPV quads next? Like a RTF kit, especially since you have a lipo charging area already set up.
Hey seth you should try dirtbikes its really fun and i think you'll love it
Give your life to Christ! 🙏🏼 Remember to read the Bible! 🙌🏼 God Bless!❤✨

I have an old MTB downhill course that snakes down the side of a mountain right in the middle of cashier's NC. Alllssoo have a massive rc crawler course and rock bouncer course right at the bottom. And a few different creek bed trail runs up the mountain. If ever interested in some new terrain to play on pm me.
I just came across this channel of yours because I am looking into RC crawlers. I've got the bashing type of RCs like Kraton, Maxx, Big Rock... but just grabbed some 24th scale Axial crawlers for some gifts for my RC friends, and one for myself.
This is awesome, and I'd be interested to spend a weekend RC crawling here.
Qhat I'd really want is also a place to bash some RCs off some gravel mounds and quarter pipes 😁👍
Thanks berm peak
Hey so I have a backyard mtb trail and I don’t know if I should build a rock garden or rollers what do you think
Even though you power off the truck you should always disconnect the battery. And you should look into MOFO RC for some awesome SCX24 upgrades!
Hey, I have an idea from seeing the red pick up cart roll down the hill, so maybe u could make a bigger crawler on a scale similar to the cart, and then you could make it drivable or a cosmetic charging station.
Yes I follow you and love your content. But now I've gotten hooked on RC and I'm at a loss as to where to spend my money. The TRX4M Defender I just bought Is so addictive I need upgrades!!
So help me decide. Mtb or RC? Great content as always Seth.
I love that you buy rocks. My backyard trails are full of rock and would rather buy them when needed. LOL!
Hi Seth I’m Jamie I’m around 5ft 11inch and 15. I’m want to get into mountain biking but have a small budget I was wondering if you could build me a cheap, strong, astatic bike? I will pay for the parts and delivery just I don’t have the biggest budget.
I can't believe you haven't copied RCSparksTV's planter box crawler course build yet. It would fit perfect in your garage/shop.
Hey Seth, got an idea. I'm a golfer mostly, but I've recently taken up cycling and it's the only way I travel now. I was thinking, if some people prefer the feel of the rubber slide on grips, but don't want them to slide, what about golf grip tape? Would you try it? And would there be any benefit over the lock on grips? Or am I just a dafty and this is already a thing. I'm considering cut down golf grips as well 😂
Hey! Recent subscriber and a huge fan! We live in Burke County NC and plan to stay at the ranger station as soon as possible! I have a request! I dunno if you’re interested in doing reviews, but if possible could you please review and give a professional opinion of the Mongoose ALX FatBike? It would be hugely appreciated! Thanks and have a good one!
