100% agree on getting the small-scale first! I recently got one, I wanted to get the 1/10 trx4 so bad. But all in, that's at least 600 bucks when you factor in the cost of the battery & the charger if you don't already own one. I picked up a 1/24th scale instead, had literally everything I needed in the box to run it as soon as I got home, even came with batteries for the radio. It's a blast to set up little courses using random household objects in my living room, but truthfully I really don't use it that often, so I'm glad I didn't shell out six or seven hundred bucks on the 1/10 scale. I think I'm going to get one eventually, I do have a few places near me that would be fantastic for a large scale crawler, but I'll wait till the weather gets better.
@@wasabisdaddy I really wanna write "well no shit sherlock" but I'm going to be nice. He's been recovering for quite some time now. I partially torn my tendons in my right knee last year, which led to "only" 5 months of resting the leg. Which I am bad at, since when I broke my thumb at 10 yrs old, I rode bmx in skatepark for 14 days with the cast on my left wrist... 5 months of riding a bike using my left leg (cause I'm just stubborn and my arms are too weak to handle walking on crutches to and from college), and my right leg got to about three quarters of the size it was before. Quite literally. I have jeans, that are slim fit, which fit me almost as leggings would. After the 5 months, they were loose around my right leg with about a 3-4cm gap...
The cycle starts again. I see a similar interest and level of passion here. Keep it up! Owned my first full suspension for about a year now and you got me thinking of my first RC car!

So Seth, I just got my first 1:24 crawler and I have to admit, you're absolutely right, the amount of fun you can have in such a small space with a micro is awesome! I have 1:10 scale cars including an Axial SCX10 Trail Honcho but today for the fun of it I bought an Enduro24 Sendero Trail Truck. Great little truck.

Hey just wanted to say this video was really useful! Been contemplating getting my first crawler and immediately was thinking 1/10th of all the reasons you mention without thinking about the negatives. Now looking at 1/18th to start with so I can use it more in doors. Thanks again!
One thing nice about the micros, is if you want to take your crawler on a vacation, or camping trip. A micro, along with the tools, batteries, and spare parts you need can easily fit in a small duffle bag, suitcase, or backpack. On a vacation I took, I hauled my original SCX10 with me, and it was a big heavy pain in the butt. Everything was in a big carrying bag, but since I took a Greyhound Bus to my destination, as I don't have a real car, lugging that thing around to the crawling locations by foot wasn't fun. Had I took a much smaller, and lighter mini, or micro crawler I would have had a lot more fun, as carrying around a big 1/10 scale crawler felt more like work, and a chore, than relaxing.
I’m so glad you got into rcs. I was literally thinking one day..... can u imagine if this guy got his hands on some rcs. And then the next day literally u came out with a micro crawler vid. Now look at ya. Ur obsessed like me lol!!

Got a UTB18 Capra last summer, and I love it! So much tinkering to do if you want, and if you use it slow and steady as crawlers should, then it's almost no repairs needed, unlike previous basher RC's I've had in the past.
The best part about the big ones is they’re easy to work on and you can make them more your own. Motors, drivetrain, gear ratios, suspension, wheels, etc are much easier to upgrade
Another thing, at the lower weight and lower speeds that these go at, you won’t break parts as harshly or as often. My traxxas broke pretty quickly and haven’t fixed it since.

Hey Seth, since you like 1/24 scale crawlers so much, I think you would really like the HBX Devastator! It features 4 wheel steering, which is very rare in crawlers this size. The 4 wheel steer give it a significant advantage over other crawlers it's size, and gives it a very tight turning circle; plus you can choose between different steering modes with a press of a button! The modes are: Front wheel steer, 4 wheel steer, rear wheel steer, and crabbing! It comes with lots of articulation, and features a body modeled after the Ford Raptor, and climbs good. The radio is good, and the run time is good too (30ish minutes I think). All of this for $100 or a bit less (depending on where you buy it)!
so I watched this one when it first aired and thought "cool, but I don't need new hobby" well I'm now into week six of a seperated shoulder and on my 2nd rc truck, my wife thinks I'm nuts. but I have to say it's been a real morale boost. I bought a 1/10 scale and a similar 1/24 scale to yours. I was going to use the littler one inside, but it's more fun outside. I wouldn't start with just a micro, 1/10 was good for me, now I have 2. Great video!

I got an SCX24 Deadbolt for Christmas while my dad and cousin got Chevy C10s, and it's fun building terrain for them. We built some from Lego, and we're building more from stuff we find around the house and at craft and hardware stores, namely using stuff like insulation foam, cardboard, hot glue, and this plaster cloth stuff. We also used some old tires from a broken cheapo RC car and another set of wheels from my dad's 10 scale truck.

After a number of Seth's RC videos, I too have become hooked on RC... Bought my first truck last week, broke the body and the steering. Thanks Seth, for continuing to spend my money for me!
Agreed! The green Scx24 is my first crawler. I got hit yesterday and I’ve already moved the white LED’s to the headlights with a servo extender cable, added weighted wheels and brass diff covers. I’m hooked. Trying to source out some blingyer shocks that have the same stock tension. I like the stock shocks for the most part just looking for a little better performance and metal. Hard to find.
i feel like the addiction is getting way worse seth.
I told my wife that it’s better to start out with a micro too.
Ok.
Lol.
I just wanna mention that his last 4 videos were on RC cars.
Dude, I'm a huge RC nut, but got into bikes not too long ago and I subscribed to your awesome channel. But I see that you've been reviewing Rc's too, I love you man!
I like in-between both which is 1/12 scale it is the sweet spot
Who’s to say you can’t fit the 10th scale in a backpack
Just need a proper backpack!
Your trying to get me to relapse back into an expensive addiction. Just wait until u get into gas powered.
Seth, my wife straight told me "no rc cars" when she heard me watching this.
time for an R/C wife. or maybe a storage unit with an electrical outlet.
Lol😂
Ever since Seth has been makin videos about these it makes me want to build a course in my backyard for a micro crawler
This channel went from building berms to bike reviews to RC cars...love you seth
Eh, I've just been getting into cb radios, that's expensive enough to not need another hobby
I just put a general lee in my truck
I feel like this is gonna turn into a rc car only channel and he gonna forget about mountain biking 😂😂
Please post moarRRRR
I got into RC crawlers because of your videos on this...thank you! They’re so fun!
I bought a 1/10 scale and a similar 1/24 scale to yours. I was going to use the littler one inside, but it's more fun outside. I wouldn't start with just a micro, 1/10 was good for me, now I have 2. Great video!
Today we’re gonna be talking about rc’s,
not, something a little different, but kinda the same😓
Hope Seths injusry gets better soon, I come to watch MTB'ing not toys
First!
kEwL
Yup
Congratulations, sir
Kool kid
🏅 of honor
Next video: I’m changing from an MTB RUclipsr to an RC youtuber
Hope not lol
9:40 love that crawl at the end - those are the best when you're at the perfect angle that the front wheels juuust come up but it still manages to stick. And you just hear the motor workin' hard to keep it going haha
