Also, let's not forget that the flagship Creality printer before the bambu copycat trend was the freaking ender 7.
It was fun seeing Aurora review the K2 Plus where she essentially concluded that the K2 Plus is always faster than the X1C and there is no real difference in print quality. Every time I saw a Bambu fan boy rebuttal attempt I imagined the angry NPC guy. 🙂 Bambu will be releasing a new product soon and I'm certain they haven't been resting on their laurels. 3D printers have gotten a lot better in just the last year.
Creality doesn't recommend to print lower than 0.2 mm in multi colour. That should be a joke for that price point. I can print with my A1 mini in 0.16mm or lower and some multi coloured prints even look better on that 356€ machine with the same layer height. Creality had good prices and okayish to good machines for the prices but that was the only thing. I said it from the beginning, wait for Bambus next printer and decide then. The K2 plus will be cheaper by then and other problems with the K2 will arrive in the meantime. Sorry, but this machine is and never was a Bambu Lab killer and I said it from the beginning. Especially when I heard that the input shaping is still bad and there were already fixes. if you only want to print in colour with 0.2mm or higher for that price, then go for it. I will buy myself a regular A1 for Christmas and decide next year which CoreXY. The Prusa seems sexy, but still the price man. At least they have a good MMU. Just fyi my first printer was a Creality and I learned a lot about printers and Klipper. But besides that everything was horrible. The hotend fan was already defective after two months. 😂

The prints aren't... Horrible? Bed wobble does not seem to be a major issue, so that's good. There were definitely noticeable VFA across the entirety of each print. It's definitely not the worst quality from a stock printer, but I can't say I'd be singing its praises this high. My Plus4 produces far fewer VFA with seemingly better layer stacking and less Z-banding, though it is a bit smaller. I do completely agree that showing most prints in harsh lighting will make them look bad, and most reviewers simply don't do it, but there are flaws here.

This is a bold statement to make, considering that reality is the one who laid the foundation for most 3D printers that have hit the market. All these 3D printers are the offspring of Creality. Haha, argue with yourself. 3D printing was originally intended for DIY enthusiasts. However, technology evolves daily, and it seems like a company is being unfairly criticized for upgrading its technology when someone essentially copied their platform. They made some improvements, and Bambu has only been in the market for about two years, while Creality has been in this industry for quite some time. This is the kind of treatment they receive!😂😂Wow
I have bambu labs both X1C, P1S, and A1, but I also have Voron Tridents, V2s and even a v0.2 and even a modified Sovol SV06, I can certainly comment on the print quality that you show in your vid, and I watched some others as well, Z banding and vfas can be tuned out or corrected if you know what you are doing, however the wavy artifacts, and ghosting is my problem with what has been shown so far. Coming from a Voron background and being used to that quality of printing, I can say those prints are unacceptable as far as I am concerned.
The extra long melt zone seems to make a significant difference Side note, I've noticed many filament brands are falling off in quality. Once you remove z-banding as an issue you will quickly notice inconsistent filament and uneven flow from basic motion variances. It used to be 'cheap' brands or generic filament were +/- 0.05mm but now many "+/- 0.02mm" measure about +/- 0.04mm. Just picked up some ABS+ High Speed from Micro Center and noticed they are at least honest about it and show +/- 0.05mm advertised, and it shows on a print i did today 😅(HGX lite extruder with a Micro Swiss CM2 Volcano nozzle)
You should rename your channel to: "Nathan chills Creality" 🤣🤣🤣 Since I haven't seen any robots for a good long while 😜 Nice printer! And thanks for all the content.
Wow! What a great video!!! I've been printing for a long time and I'm very picky about print quality and accuracy. Those pipes are beautiful prints.. the best I've seen. Man, your channel is just so damn good. Packed with info and entertaining as well... nice job!
Thank you for the video and the info. I'm getting mine today and I'm so looking forward to using this, it looks amazing and will do everything I need from a printer. I'm glad to hear that on top of the large print volume, that the quality is also great.
Bambu Hateboy and your Bambu Fanboy fixation, lol continually cracks me up. The K2 plus looks awesome, I am tempted, but I ask you, would there have been a Creality K2 Plus with AMS if there was never was an XIC with AMS? X1C is a dinosaur by 3D printing timeline standards, 3 years, the bar was not high to clone and improve on LOL. K2 Plus looks like king of the hill right now, well fora a few months :) I have been following Teaching Techs videos on the Multitool head SVO8, I love my SV08
We could also legitimately ask if there would have been a Bambu Lab X1C if there hadn't been years of open source community driven 3D printer development? Some people who own Bambu Lab printers seem to believe the X1C origin story is the same as the mythological belief that Athena emerging fully formed in god-like perfection from Zeus' brain.
The original Prusa MMU came out 5 years before the X1C. Was it a flawed product? Absolutely. Was it the precursor that lead to the AMS? Also absolutely.
@@jmelchiori85 my point is there was a huge shift in the 3D printer market after the X1C no? whether who copied who, Bambu forced a shift in the market and they brought multi color to the masses. My other point was the Bambu Haters, are just as funny as the Bambu Fanboys, :) but as I mentioned before, I am most interested in a SVO8 Toolhead changer that Teaching Tech is working on BUT knowing Bambu, their new large format printer coming out will probably have some type of upgradable plug and play Multi toolhead changer to the masses and once again shifting the market :)
Please duplicate this test with an X1C. Of course it won't be exactly the same because the print volume is so much smaller. I really appreciate the mockery of the App... Bambu fanboys. Sorry it's hard to tell the difference sometimes.
Great review and nice to get some claryfication about this! I was just on my way to order the X1C for my 3d business, when your reviews about the K2+ started rolling out, and made me curious. Currently running 2 CR10's with klipper and was looking for the next multi color upgrade. So looking forward to see more about this one, before I make an order myself! Also Nathan, didn't know you were such a ninja! Second channel incoming? xD
I waited to see if I wanted to buy the Creality K1 Max, and ultimately didn't. The K2 Plus looks much better out of the gate, but waiting is smart. However, as the song says, waiting is the hardest part.
I personally do look at prints under single point lighting, but only during the initial calibration of a filament and occasionally on a spot check to see if anything is wearing out or if the printer is due a premature lube.
I have a K1 Max that I really like. Did it have a few “birthing pains”, yes but nothing terrible and the issues were easily solved. I almost always print with 3 layer walls. I find that I get the best results printing from the inside out. It would be interesting to print some tests building the walls from the outside in. Also, two layer walls might be informative as well. I’m not asking you to do any tests like these, but I think the K2 could handle them as well as any other affordable FDM printer. I participated in the pre-sale offering during the summer. I am just anxiously awaiting its arrival in the US. I agreed that your torture tests were a good representation of what the machine is capable of producing. Thanks!
Thank you for the additional tests and information. I have ordered the printer and this information was important to me as this printer will replace my problematic large format bed slinger from the ocean.
Good on Creality for making a solid high end machine. I'm waiting to see if the latest Ender 3 variants continue to stay solid after 6 months, and if so then I'll be happy they are stepping up to what is expected of a modern lower level FDM printer. Wheee!
I'd expect a prime/purge/wipe tower to over extrude a bit and leading to more layer inconsistency on a sacrificial piece. Gonna need an Ender3v2 test print for the ultimate benchmark.
Nathan, tell them to fix the crappy app and bring it to par with the quality of this printer. That is one of the issues why I am still holding for the bambu XL.
I never use apps or cloud stuff. Sounds like the bambu system is pretty good for that. Creality and PRUSA also have apps, but I haven’t used any of them
It’s the high quality 0.2mm preset in creality print. It’s maybe 20% slower than the standard profile, but well worth it if you want better quality prints. The standard profile is too fast IMO
My first 3D Printer was an ender 3 v2. I have been using it for 2 years now. I did not really have any issues with it. I have done a few things to it. Auto bed leveling, belt synced dual z lead screws with only one stepper motor. I would say the biggest print quality difference was the dual lead screws and POM lead nuts. The ABL was just a quality of life upgrade it really didn’t make the prints any better. I love my little ender 3. I just want a printer for larger sizes with exotic filament. I was looking at the Qidi X-Max-3 but the option for multi color is my interest in the K2.
This K2 Plus is just a very decent 3D printer for a very decent price. The Carbon X1 is a very decent printer for a decent price, the MK4s is a totally different printer, but decent and very reliable for many years, but at quite a high price. The new Prusa Core1 is more comparabe, but the Prusa MMU is less user friendly. Price is quite decent though.
I hope the printers that pre-orders get is up to the level of what you got. This was my first pre-order of anything, and it's my LAST. It's not because Creality needed to 'fine-tune' the product, but because their communications is VERY bad. Either they don't communicate at all, or give you incorrect information. i.e. Creality has EARNED a lot of the criticism...but you're probably correct that it's time to move on to non-Creality products.....Prusa has a new toy for you to play with, now. ;)
Oh look 👀, another Bambu Ender 10/10 video review. This was the 5th I’ve found today. Time to mix it up with some comedy 🎭. I’m gonna go search some Bambu reviews now.
I have three Creality printers (3 Pro and two 5 Pros) and love them. I’ll probably get a K2 or K1 for my next one. Not a fanboy, but I appreciate the open source aspect as of my printer fun is modding and upgrading the printers.
When Creality reaches you and tells you that you are not right and you have some hours to fix your mess... Crapality can't compare with Bamboos (I don't own Bamboo, i am a Voron user)! :D The fact that no one with K2 Plus direct comparing with Bamboo machines tells a lot.
purge block is funky because of input shaping. small rounding in max speed to esteps adds a tiny offset between layers. offset difference overflows eventually and resets. the os doesn't care enough to add small esteps to make the purge tower perfect....mostly cause it's a garbage piece and speed is king.
One cause of helplessly looking for the cause of z banding is filament driers... If you dry your filament in a heated spool dryer but don't rotate the spool the lower half of the spool closer to the heat will be drier than the upper half which will reabsorb moisture as it passes by. This causes what looks like Z Banding but it is once per spool circumference.
@ the bed is ticker than a k1 max tho correct ? It definitely looks like a solid machine it will be interesting to see how the 2 lead screw design holds up longevity wise I feel like 3/4 would’ve held up better over a few thousand hours use
You aren't the only person who showed layer lines with the K2. Doesn't look great. Also notice on a lot of the K2 prints what almost looks like a fuzzy skin effect.
I think the problem is, Creality have had a lot of issues in the past with poor printers (The only reason my CRF10-S5 didn't go out of the window is it wouldn't fit!) and its a case of once bitten, twice shy. Whereas bambu came along and got a really good printer on the first try. Its like Creality have broken trust and it'll take a bit to get that back. I've been tempted with the K range (I have a bambu) and about the only issue I have is the noise. I need to see one in person I think.
I'm relatively new to 3d printing, so, no real bias to any brand. I have a K1c (my first printer) and love it. It's been flawless. I wanted something with a larger build plate, so bought the Sovol sv08. After dealing with some minor issues, that arguably the manufacturer should have dealt with, it's been a solid performer. I placed my order for the K2 as soon as they opened it up and am now just waiting for delivery (early December I believe) as I want a multi material/color capable printer and why not buy one with a big build plate. Can't wait.
Creality is definitely making big changes I got my ender 3 v3 and it’s put in over 1000 hours now printing almost 24/7 and it has had two failed prints and has yet to require and real maintenance. It’s a tire print farm work horse
As a bambu lab enjoyer, I have to say that this is a nice printer and it’s cool that other brands are taking a stab at the whole multicolor printing thing. Just wish it wasn’t so wasteful but i don’t know how else it could be done. Z banding and weird layer errors happen on literally every machine. They don’t happen often on my A1 mini or P1P but they do happen. It’s just part of printing. They’re not perfect machines and likely never will be.
Prusa changes filaments by changing extruders. That's a more complicated and more expensive up front solution but filament changes are much faster and there is essentially no material waste. The same strategy has been implemented by Voron builders and a few people are making videos showing toolhead changers for the Voron 2.4 inspired Sovol SV08.
Great review, Natan! I have a question: do you have any information about the possibility of using the CFS system on the K1 printers? Also, based on what Creality developed and improved in the K2, do you think these enhancements could be implemented on the K1, either through updates or some kind of upgrade?
You’d need to replace the whole Printhead. It’s doable, I can ask them about their plans for that. I’ll be able to talk to them at Formnext is a few days
it's not your fault you're being Objective. it's their fault for being simple minded. those Bambu purists are almost like pouring water on the wicked witch "I'm melting, melting!". they can't comprehend their world view coming to an end. they thought they were the pinnacle of Humanity, only to find out they've been +1. I suppose that's how the Devil felt when he was told to serve Adam.
hate to say this but this might be my next printer, prusa too late to the game with the core and small print size, bambu taking forever to release their larger format printer.
I never understood the "fanboy" thing. My first printer was a Prusa MK3s+, My second was a Bambu X1C, and if this K2 turns out to be a great performer, I'll get one of those. I have no brand loyally at all. If it works, I use it. The only loser I see is the Prusa Core one. What the hell were they trying to compete with? Because they failed on every level for it's price point.
I usually do a vase mode test to determine if the z banding is from the extuder or the lead screws. It is also helpful to figure out if the issue is caused from back pressure in the nozzle from retracting and detracting.
What about all the CE certificate talk? Does the K2 Plus has a CE sign on it? And I don't mean the fake "Chinese Export" CE sign. This would be critical for the printer's commercial use (at least in Europe).
I know it's brand new, but it's still too expensive. It's a great value compared to the x1 Carbon, but they need to close the price gap, and It'll be a no-brainer with the build volume. Something closer to a grand would be nice.
those are very good results cant deny that. does not discredit the other banding issues shown from other users and as you said creality has a track record of banding. that being said this is the first printer I have truelly wanted since I bought my of cr10. i do hope that what I saw elsewhere was resolved with all the updates.
On some of those prints, the stringing and layer lines look horrible, and not under that harsh lighting. I look at some of the things that Clough42 has made the layer lines are virtually impossible to see. Not sure if you covered what nozzle size and layer height you printed here, so maybe that was it. I am interested in this printer because I do have need for a 300x300 print bed, and a 350x350 would just be bonus space.
I’d really prefer some honest printer reviews without all the “us vs. them” shit, Nathan. You can ignore the toxic comments if you want to. Comparisons are appropriate but I gotta start skipping your videos if you keep fanning these pointless flames.
"Bambu Fan boys" were once Creality Ender 3 fans or maybe even Mk2 and 3 fans... Your viewers/subscribers (the ones that actually keep your channel alive) In general don't care about brand or make... They buy what their budget allows as the best bang for buck they can get. Brand baiting seems to be your thing to get views and it works... Much like race baiting. I'll buy a couple of these to go into our farm along with my other Creality and Bambu machines As Aurora Tech gave it a fantastic non baiting review. Give the ppl that give your channel a life more respect.
I don’t have either a Bambu or a Creality printer, but I’d trust the former over the latter to build a decent printer, and support me after. I don’t trust Creality as far as I can throw their hundreds variants!
@ I don’t have either brand, but my issue with Creality is they release variants after variants of the same printer with little change screwing over their older customer. It’s even hard to buy their spare parts because of the insane number of variants. And they need to stop rebranding other slicers and making dumb UI changes to try and make them unique. Just supply and support orca slicer or Prusa slicer and concentrate on releasing a decent version of each printer the first time.
The printer looks awesome and it's like it performs awesome the only thing that has me worried is the longevity that's it, and how customers are treated after reality has their money and then they run into problems somewhere down the road weather warranty is up or not a customer should always get treated with respect and I've heard some horror stories

Coming from a Voron background and being used to that quality of printing, I can say those prints are unacceptable as far as I am concerned.
Hes a robotic engineer and pretty close to a mechanical genius...I would trust Nathan over some rando self proclaimed printing expert....😅
The extra long melt zone seems to make a significant difference
Side note, I've noticed many filament brands are falling off in quality.
You should rename your channel to: "Nathan chills Creality" 🤣🤣🤣 Since I haven't seen any robots for a good long while 😜
Nice printer! And thanks for all the content.
Wow! What a great video!!! I've been printing for a long time and I'm very picky about print quality and accuracy. Those pipes are beautiful prints.. the best I've seen. Man, your channel is just so damn good. Packed with info and entertaining as well... nice job!
I got started with Creality, and I still own them as well as a couple Bambu Lab units. I love my K1 Max.
Good job Nathan!
Thank you for the video and the info. I'm getting mine today and I'm so looking forward to using this, it looks amazing and will do everything I need from a printer. I'm glad to hear that on top of the large print volume, that the quality is also great.
Creality deserves credit were credit is due. They have done a lot to the 3d printer market.
@@Liberty4Ever It really does share a lot with the Apple cult.
*Edit: typo
Yeah Liberty brings up a great point that supersedes anyone “stealing” ideas from Bambu Lab.
@@jmelchiori85 my point is there was a huge shift in the 3D printer market after the X1C no? whether who copied who, Bambu forced a shift in the market and they brought multi color to the masses.
My other point was the Bambu Haters, are just as funny as the Bambu Fanboys, :)
but as I mentioned before, I am most interested in a SVO8 Toolhead changer that Teaching Tech is working on BUT knowing Bambu, their new large format printer coming out will probably have some type of upgradable plug and play Multi toolhead changer to the masses and once again shifting the market :)
Wow those Bambu labs layer lines😮
Haha😂
Please duplicate this test with an X1C. Of course it won't be exactly the same because the print volume is so much smaller. I really appreciate the mockery of the App... Bambu fanboys. Sorry it's hard to tell the difference sometimes.
I agree, bambu fanboys are lame!

Second channel incoming? xD
I am just salivating over one, but i have to wait too see how they perform longer term.
This is a good follow up…I was thinking about the print quality
I don't get what Bambu labs fans are angry about. They should be saying "if creality can do this, imagine what we will get from Bambu next!"
Bambu better come out with something crazy next year. They hide their new products because they are worried about being copied
IMHO, longevity matters. But it's good to see that all is good 'outa the box'. Thanks for the thorough info.
Thanks!
Appreciate the ongoing research
Love you and trust you man. The reason I’m critical is you made me buy an Ender 3 S1 Pro with sonic pad 🤡
That was just the worst printer i ever had. No more Creality in this household ever.
The title had me worried there as I ordered a K2 after your review :)
- Prusa Mk4 + BBL A1 owner
Thank you for the additional tests and information. I have ordered the printer and this information was important to me as this printer will replace my problematic large format bed slinger from the ocean.
I'm not convinced yet. I need more creality K2 plus videos just to be sure.
Creality and PRUSA also have apps, but I haven’t used any of them
thank you :) i was a bit concerned over the quality but i think i will be able to live with that 😂
If you wanna Keep triggering them, after New Year, you can talk about the Prusa Core One. Saw many Bambu Lab People cry about that.
I heard PRUSA opened a new salt mine filled with dried bambu fanboy tears 😭
I don't think you told us any of your print settings for the K2, so your test results don't have a lot of meaning to me. Print speed matters a lot.
It’s the high quality 0.2mm preset in creality print. It’s maybe 20% slower than the standard profile, but well worth it if you want better quality prints. The standard profile is too fast IMO
Creality K2 is like Taco Bell hot sauce. It's hot but is it actually hot. Iykyk
Not as hot as a flaming Qidi! 😲
You did a good job. Free printer is well deserved. Creality is happy
Good review Nathan, I think I'm going to get one by Christmas or next year!
I don't care who makes it. Just make a *good* large format high quality printer. "Brand loyalists" are just cult members waiting to happen.
You should look into replacing Vanna when she retires. Great job following up on your previous concern. Thanks.
I have three Creality printers (3 Pro and two 5 Pros) and love them. I’ll probably get a K2 or K1 for my next one. Not a fanboy, but I appreciate the open source aspect as of my printer fun is modding and upgrading the printers.
How long did you say you worked for Creality?
@ they are inexpensive and great if you like to tinker with them. If I just wanted reliably good prints, I’d probably buy Bambu Labs or Prusa.
You should hit the gym so you can break those 3D prints, buddy.
When Creality reaches you and tells you that you are not right and you have some hours to fix your mess... Crapality can't compare with Bamboos (I don't own Bamboo, i am a Voron user)! :D The fact that no one with K2 Plus direct comparing with Bamboo machines tells a lot.
He will never get over not receiving a Bambu printer. 😢 You need to really move on.
what's wrong with K2 plus?
purge block is funky because of input shaping. small rounding in max speed to esteps adds a tiny offset between layers. offset difference overflows eventually and resets. the os doesn't care enough to add small esteps to make the purge tower perfect....mostly cause it's a garbage piece and speed is king.
Let’s be real tho, in a world that profits are not put first the k2 gets 4 lead screws every time
At least 3 and a thicker bed.
But the current hardware is fit for purpose, I can’t complain too much
@ the bed is ticker than a k1 max tho correct ?
It definitely looks like a solid machine it will be interesting to see how the 2 lead screw design holds up longevity wise I feel like 3/4 would’ve held up better over a few thousand hours use
You aren't the only person who showed layer lines with the K2. Doesn't look great. Also notice on a lot of the K2 prints what almost looks like a fuzzy skin effect.
K1 Max Rev 3 was my first creality printer so I'm not a fanboy. I've had no serious issues with it, it's been a great printer.
Typical 2024 printer review, 7 videos in.
No standardized VFA test.
No hotend flow test.
No input shaping test plots.
Personally I think they look amazing
I'm relatively new to 3d printing, so, no real bias to any brand. I have a K1c (my first printer) and love it. It's been flawless. I wanted something with a larger build plate, so bought the Sovol sv08. After dealing with some minor issues, that arguably the manufacturer should have dealt with, it's been a solid performer. I placed my order for the K2 as soon as they opened it up and am now just waiting for delivery (early December I believe) as I want a multi material/color capable printer and why not buy one with a big build plate. Can't wait.
Why would you buy a K2 instead of an X1C or P1S?
@ 350x350x350 build plate
@@joeking433 I think it's clearly stated that "why not buy one with a big build plate. "
Nathanhatesbambu. No robots were build on this channel. But many bambus were trashed. I still enjoy the videos 👍
Creality must be paying Nathan a LOT!
@@NathanBuildsRobots Thank you for your response! If you find out anything else about upgrades for the K1 and K1 Max, that would be fantastic.
looks great!
Its funny that how hard you try to convince those boy on the layer line thingy hahahahaha
Not bad. I have one corexy setup with two leadscrews. Enabled z hop fixed my z banding.
it's not your fault you're being Objective. it's their fault for being simple minded. those Bambu purists are almost like pouring water on the wicked witch "I'm melting, melting!". they can't comprehend their world view coming to an end. they thought they were the pinnacle of Humanity, only to find out they've been +1.
Because they failed on every level for it's price point.
lol, 5 secs in and I'm cracking up at the Bambu comments already.
I usually do a vase mode test to determine if the z banding is from the extuder or the lead screws. It is also helpful to figure out if the issue is caused from back pressure in the nozzle from retracting and detracting.
This video reminds me local car sales ads.
Buy a comb
What about all the CE certificate talk? Does the K2 Plus has a CE sign on it? And I don't mean the fake "Chinese Export" CE sign. This would be critical for the printer's commercial use (at least in Europe).
I know it's brand new, but it's still too expensive. It's a great value compared to the x1 Carbon, but they need to close the price gap, and It'll be a no-brainer with the build volume. Something closer to a grand would be nice.
For just the printer it’s $1200. I hope they put it on sale for $999 in half a year once they have manufacturing in full swing
those are very good results cant deny that. does not discredit the other banding issues shown from other users and as you said creality has a track record of banding. that being said this is the first printer I have truelly wanted since I bought my of cr10. i do hope that what I saw elsewhere was resolved with all the updates.
Nathan, how many robots have you built using this printer?
Thanks I appreciate your reviews.
subbing to trigger the bambu fan boys
Aurora tech channel does the best paid reviews
9:11 some bad F banding also!
For it's size, it should double as a beer fridge or at least a microwave oven! 😂
I've got mine ordered. I'm gonna put it between my A1 and my X1C
I don’t have either a Bambu or a Creality printer, but I’d trust the former over the latter to build a decent printer, and support me after.
I don’t trust Creality as far as I can throw their hundreds variants!
lol, you'd trust a company that locks you in and install a network plugin you have no control over? Who knows what the are doing with your data.
