    This was amazing to create! Personally I liked the text boxes - I could pause and follow the steps 👌🏻
    I realised mine was not looking like yours about halfway through and realised it’s the canvas size. Mine was set for 1500x1500 pixels and 300dpi. As a result my Gaussian blur had to be adjusted .... mine ended up working on 2.5% and where you did 20% I did 3.3% 😁
    Just thought I’ll add that in for anyone else who didn’t get the same effect 👌🏻

    This is amazing; in the middle of the process, I doubted mine would turn out, but it looks great. I am definitely going to practice more. Thanks for the subtitles, I appreciate them, they make this tutorial even better!

    Hello Abbie! Great tutorial as usual. You're really a great teacher!!
    But, if I may write my point of view, these kind of tutorials are a little bit too complex, too many steps to achieve the final results. Ok, I think that the main issue here is that Procreate, although is an amazing app (simply the best for digital painting) it lacks too many rather simple features, like adding simple and fast effects on the layers, like Emboss, 3D, Shadows and so on...
    Doing all these kind of stuff manually is certainly useful for a practicing purposes but not so much in real life. To many manual steps to achieve a simple effect.
    For example doing that in Affinity Photo is much more easy and maybe we can use Procreate just for the final stage, when we can use just the Liquify tool and some other little adjustments.
    But anyway..this is only my point of view.

      I didn’t think of it that way but that’s so true. I don’t use a lot apps to think about using those built in features. At least it’s fun learning how Abbie does it.

    I am struggling with this. When you select your purple negative layer and then Change pick to black, your purple negative layer does not change. Mine immediately changes to black. You have your negative layer un checked, however if I try to select my negative layer unchecked it immediately prompts me to “show the layer”.
    When I select my layers and then fill the new layer above it doesn’t show the font like yours does. Lots of positive comments so I’m guessing it’s something on my end.

      I have got it all worked out except for the final white step before using the sharp eraser. I’m glad I stuck with it and got it worked out to a degree. Thank you for the video ☺️

    Awesome tute Abbie! Is there a reason why you do not speak in your tutes though? It would be so much easier to follow along as reading the steps along with what you are doing is too much to take in.
    Just a thought.

    • @abbienurse8404
      @abbienurse8404  6 лет назад +14

      I don’t speak because I find, if I am following a Tute with speaking and I miss an instruction it is enormously frustrating to have to listen and re-listen to catch the important moments. Especially because in a Tute where people speak they usually ramble endlessly and actually hearing the vital information becomes a task in itself. So I made the conscious decision to give written instructions so that if you pause the video, the instructions remain visible (unlike audio which obviously does not) so that you can take the tutorial at your own pace. Also writing the information forces me to be concise and clear.

      I prefer the text instructions for the reason that Abbie explained. I thought I would prefer her talking but as I watched, I realized I could pause and read the instructions to follow along. I also slowed down the speed so I could read before she went onto the next step.

      i'm just the opposite, being hearing impaired I love that there's text. although i would rather it wasn't covering the bulk of the image.

    • @libbyheeren
      @libbyheeren 6 лет назад

      I have a really hard time following the text, too, and prefer speaking tutorials. I think it's mostly the fact that it's asynchronous. While I'm reading "select the positive layer," the video may be showing a different part of the same step, like clearing another layer, so I have to watch, rewatch, and pause a lot. I guess everyone is different, but I can't focus on two things at once. 😂 Regardless, they're very helpful and interesting! Thank you, Abbie!

      @@abbienurse8404 ... i concur 100pc with your logic. i am soooo grateful for written instruction. with these, i just pause and read them. it reduces my need to keep replaying and strain my ears. . i hate rambling and disorganised vids too. lol. Not to mention, this really helps the hearing impaired. i do however adjust the speed to 0.75.

    That is awesome! However, I got too confused and had to stop and just watch. Maybe I will come back at another time to try again! Thanks you for all the effort. I wish you would talk to describe your steps...especially for us beginners (and start at the beginning, not part way through). Cheers!

    Great effects, but it's almost impossible to follow along at the rate you go, while trying to read and look at what you're doing at the same time. I'd love to do it--but after starting and stopping hundreds of times, it's wearing me out!

    • @abbienurse8404

      Dea Lenihan it is possible to slow the playback of RUclips videos. It’s also possible to turn the sound off. I make these videos for free, you aren’t obliged to watch them.
