Thanks for watching!
Hands down, you are the best Procreate teacher I’ve ever seen on RUclips. You are methodical, explain enough but not too much, are quick to the point and clear with instructions. I also appreciate that you share potential scenarios we may encounter and how to work around them. I’m grateful to you for sharing your talent with us. I’ve learned so much already. Thank you so much! ♥️
Thank you so much for this! It truly means a lot! ❤️
I'm new to the ipad and procreate and you make it so simple. Thanks!
That was literally the best explanation and tutorial on Masking I have ever heard. You are a great teacher. Thanks so much.
THANK YOU. This is the BEST tutorial, especially for those of us new to Procreate!

The best explanation for interlacing lettering!
This is a fantastic tutorial. I can see so much potential for this feature. Thanks Teela!
Finally an explanation for masking on Procreate that I can actually understand, 😊
This is a really amazing tutorial, I tried it and love it so much. Have a blessed day, Teela!
you're a great teacher!! I watch your videos to grasp the fundamentals of procreate and it's helping me so so so much
Thanks so much!
Well presented, straight to the point, quality content. Thank you. Thumbs up.
Thank you so much! It’s such a relief to have someone make it easy to understand!!!!

Such a great tutorial! Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to do a masking project now!
I love love love your tutorials. You make it look so easy. :) Thank you for taking the time out to teach us.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your tutorials! They are so clear and you are aways using a project to help learn it. You are amazing! I bought your metallic kit and love that too (Now that I know how to use it!) ❤️Having SOOO much fun!
Thanks so much!
Thank you, Teela! This definitely demystified masking for me.
Best masking tutorial ever. Bless you.
you're way of explaining is so good!!! great video!
Wow! I had been using shortcuts and having to redo and undo. This is the BEST tutorial!! I'll be watching the 3D lettering in the future!
Really well done 👏🏼 simple and easily explained :)
Wonderful tutorial thank you! I was really struggling with layer masks and you just made it really simple to understand
I'm just learning Procreate and this was super useful, thank you! Two comments: before blacking out on the mask layer, select the text layer menu and hit select. You don't have to be nearly as careful drawing the black, because it'll only black out where the letters are! Second, it took a few tries before I realized a tip: don't cross the flourish over a letter, it's a lot harder to mask. Make the crosses between letters and avoid the problem 😊
Thank you for a brilliant tutorial ☺️
I felt the need to state my thanks because this seems to be my default video to come back too in creating my own creations.
Thanks so much for watching!
Very easy to understand. You deserve a sub
Great video... I have lot to learn being brand new to procreate. I watch and rewatch !!!! thanks
Thanks so much for explaining in so much detail.

I totally agree with dcobb1!
Easy to follow and great result. Thanks for this!
You are a great teacher! Thank you 😊
Thank you, Teela. This video is so useful!!
Nice tutorial. Coming from Photoshop, this is a great translation and helpful transition into the masking functionality in Procreate.
Wow amazing explanation, thanks for share your wisdom 🦋
I'm new to procreate and sooo confuse with mask clipping mask and you explain it very clearly Thank you
Hi! Teela! I really love all of your tutorials. I learned a lot. I really like to download your monoweight brush but im having trouble downloading it.
Finally I get it! Thank you👏🏻👏🏻
When would you use a Layer Mask and when would you use a Clipping mask?
Thanks Teela! You are great at tutorial! Like the way you make it easier and clear :)
I’d like to know if we can do one more mask layer on same text? How?
Let’s say if i want to add snowflake on the word and make it front/behind the same text.
Thank you :))
Sorry, Teela, my Procreate edition calls it ‘clipping mask’ & offers options of masks....had to figure out which one to select. SUCCESS FINALLY!
The one she's talking about is the layer mask
Masking has always been confusing to me except for clipping mask. But the just masking tool is a bit confusing to understand. You explained it really well. My brain said, “ohhhhhhhhh now I get it!” Lol
Oh my! Thank you for your tutorial on masking. A couple of others were either excessively wordy, so I tended to dose off. The other was very informative, but was wrapped up in doing a comedic schtick, which I found off putting and distracting. Everything in your tutorial was articulate, concise, and to the point, and offered me more new and useful information that the others hadn’t covered. Please keep posting, because you know how to properly teach on a topic.
Thanks so much!
Tap and hold the color circle to toggle between your previous color :)
You have an AWSOME BLOG!
❤️
Thanx Teela! Well done video.
Perfect tutorial!!
This is wonderful, thank you!! How did you enter your text?
You can bring in an image to trace over, or utilize Procreate's grids (hit the wrench > canvas > turn drawing guide on) which is great for blockier letters 👍
Holli Mostella You could also go up at the top left and choose add text and cheat it that way.
Thank you!! This helped me so much!
That cleared up a lot for me. Thanks!
what camera are you using?
Thank you so much for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does putting in design/texture with mask work with shapes as well as lettering?
Thank you so much for this tutorial, it’s the BEST on Procreate Mask. Could you also make a tutorial on the differences between Mask, Clipping Mask & Alpha lock using similar lettering examples? These are very confusing concepts to understand and I’ve watched many RUclips videos and still don’t quite get it. Thank you in advance!!🌟🌼
I have a new beginners course (it'll be free!) that will open on May 20th that explains it all in detail - if you're an email subscriber of mine (every-tuesday.com/resource-library/) you'll get an email as soon as it's available. I'll also be posting the class trailer on RUclips with a link to the course, too 👍
Thank you for sharing….❤
I am unable to download the brush. Any suggestions? Thank you. This tutorial was great!
black conceals, white reveals is my new light as feather, stiff as a board LOLXXX
Teela, thanks so much for the great job explaining!!! I have made some backgrounds that I would like to import for this project. They are stored in my Procreate gallery. Is there an easy way to import these into a layer or would I need to put them in my Photos first to retrieve them?
If you go into the other procreate files, you can select the layer, then go to the wrench > copy, then return to the new file, hit the wrench > paste to copy and paste assets between files 👍
Oh, wow, was that easy! Thanks for your knowledge and expertise!
This helped sooooo much! TFS😊
How have you done the type?
Thank you so much for this video, is really helpful! I want ask you if you can explain how did you do de lettering layer...( I mean this type of letters)... I’m really new in Procreate...🙂
Hey! You can utilize their grid option to keep things aligned + sized right for blockier letters (like these) - to do that, hit the wrench in the top left > canvas > turn on 'drawing guide' and edit drawing guide as needed 👍
Thanks!!! I enjoy your videos so much!
Thank you for such great videos that you are sharing! So helpful!
Thank you!
Hi Teela, I watched on Instagram some girls draw curves on text but the curves become behind or in front text automatically or magically without the need to hide or reveal using black and white but didn't understand how!
Hey! They were likely putting half the letters on one layer, the other half on another layer and drawing on the layer in between them 👍
Thx for this tutorial...very easy to follow. I signed up for your freebies by subscription but could not download the 8 seamless ink patterns..tried several times and it stuck. I could download other freebies.
That's one of the larger freebies, so make sure you have a reliable internet connection before starting it and don't try to open it until it fully finishes 👍
whats the difference if use clipping mask
Could you have set the texture image as a clipping mask over the text layer? do you have any pros/cons about using a clipping mask vs a layer mask in this situation?
You can definitely use a clipping mask (that would actually be best in this scenario - this vid was recorded before they added that option in)
So good! Thank you so much! ; )
Wry useful! Thanks!
What brush did you use for making line?
Thank you Thank you Thank you
Tnx!
I can't wait to get procreate and start practicing😃
you’re awesome! thanks for sharing!
Thank you
Gracias
Thank you for this tutoriel 👍🏻😀
Thank you 😍 wehre can i find the free brushes?
Hey! They're part of my free resource library here: every-tuesday.com/resource-library/
I would I could like this more!
🙏
god bless you
Did you wrote the word "Masking" on your own or imported the text?
If you wrote it on your own please make a tutorial on the same!!!
Hey! You can type it out using their text tool, then just rasterize the text layer 👍
Teela Cunningham how to rasterize?
Just like photoshop! I didn't know that.
