Thank you for the great reviews. I’m a progressing intermediate in Lake Tahoe area, 5’7”, 160 lb, size 8.5 boot, current board is Yes Basic 152 which is my first board. I don’t do park. I want something to continue improving carving and that does well on ungroomed trails. Would you recommend Dancehaul 147 or 152? Other boards I’m looking at based on your reviews are Ride Shadowban and Yes Standard. How does Dancehaul compare to these two?
The Dancehaul a very different board. You are in between sizes. The 152 basic was pretty small for you and you would have liked a 155 better. So if you feel more comfortable with the 152 go 147 but if you want something better go 152. 154 Shadowban could work too. More directional and stiff compared to the Basic. Standard 153 might work too but softer like the Basic and you need full size discs to utilize the set back. Thanks! I only rode Union Atlas. Rode 2 boots. Like the flex, design n construction of the TM-3XD better but the fit of the Kendo's was better for my feet. Reviews of both are on this channel and on thegoodride.com
@@thegoodridesnow unfortunately my teen stole my green Gremmy but even a straight ice day it was a great board and it is so much fun through trees and side hits!
Curious how this compares to Warca and Mind expander (or ME twin)? 5’11” and 175 lbs, advanced rider, see east coast and trips out west. Want something that I can charge on but also nimble for the trees. Thanks!
No I think that is a good fit but it depends on the make/model/size board you ride now and how you like it. If you want to get into it more hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/
Hey mate, I got the 147 and the reference (53,5cm) is wider than my stance (51cm), and when going one hole further in (on both feet) narrower (49,5). I was wondering if I could go one hole narrower only on the back foot, since the nose would still be significantly longer, and if that would be unnoticeable our would affect the riding in a bad way (because 2,5cm not centered with the sidecut/ and softer nose).
So that won't work well with the Dancehaul because it's not about the nose and tail length. It's about where the stance location is in relation to the sidecut. With the Dancehaul it's centered on sidecut so you would not be riding the board correctly. What bindings do you have? If you have good bindings that are very adjustable you can slide turn the discs to slide tip to tail and keep them centered on sidecut and get the stance width you want. That's why I ride Union Force.
How would you compare the dancehaul to the ultimate ride? I have a 2021 ultimate ride but the dancehaul has been catching my eye. My only concern is they might overlap each other in terms of similarities? Can you weigh in on this thanks!
I didn't ride the 2021 Ultimate ride. I only rode the 2017 version before it was tapered so hard to say with 100% certainty. They seem like very different rides though. Dancehaul is more directional, tapered, shorter and wider. What you have seems like it is a combo of the Directional Twin Ultimate Ride 2017 I tried and the Tapered Twin Sick Stick I rode as well. The Dancehaul is unique to Salomon's line. Might be worth a go.
Would you recommend the Dancehaul or the Jones Stratos for an early intermediate (second season) 40 year old rad dad that stays out of the park? I'm looking to improve my carving, speed, and small side hits/slashes. I'm coming off the yes basic and ride about 15 days per year. I'm the same size as you and considering the Stratos in a 156.
Early intermediate, 2nd season. 185 lbs size 10. Fairly fit/athletic for age. Rode a 155cm Yes Basic last year but it seems a little floppy in the sierra cement around tahoe. I want to go directional all mountain leaning toward freeride. I don’t want to be required to be on my A game at all times. Would also like to slow speed slash when with the family.
162 Stratos might work but it can get chattery in uneven snow. It's stiffer than your basic (pretty soft by the way) but it isn't damp. So when conditions change it bucks and bounces you around at 185lbs. The Dance Haul 152 will be better in all conditions and could be a good daily driver. It's a little on the technical side but could work. If you want detailed and legitimate advice hit me up here and I'll throw some more qualified recommendations your way. thegoodride.com/snowboard-binding-and-boot-advice/
Hi, I'm 174cm, 70kgs and 10.5 US boot. Is the 147 wide enough for my boot size or should I size up to 152? The weight recommendation for the 152 is 70kg to 90kg so I just sneak in at 70kgs. I want to go for the 147 but worried about toe/heel drag. Thoughts? Thanks.
You seem a little better suited spec wise for the 152 but it depends on what you are used to now. Especially if you want to carve hard. Hit me up here if you want to get into it more. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/
I'm deciding between this and the orca for my Japan trip, I don't think I will have the chance to try any of those 2 before, atm I'm riding a warpig, loving it but It is already 5 years old and got quite some damages so time to change it. What would you suggest?
It's a tough call. Both will have better float than the Warpig. If you like that stable feel of the warpig underfoot go Dancehaul. If you are ok with a loose feel underfoot that feels kind of auto spinny but has exceptional edge hold go Orca. I think the Orca will have a slight edge in float as well. I personally wouldn't take either to Japan but they will be fine there and will be great daily drivers when you get back.
@@peppolicchiopappo7274 Go here and click "Excellent" in the Powder filter thegoodride.com/snowboard-reviews/?mens=1 Those are the boards I would take. They float better than the boards above.
@@thegoodridesnow the issue with those is that when back I will probably rarely ride them anymore considering conditions in Italy, my idea is getting something great in powder and ok in most other conditions also thinking about jones mind expander vs the orca

Hi good ride. Your review of the board is very instructive. Can you help me with the size it look like I'm between two size. I'm 165 LB, 9.5 , and 6"2 tall. I'm afraid to be to tall for this board no ?
Thanks! I would go 152 because that works really well with 9.5 US boots and 165lbs. The 157 is better for your height but boot size and weight are more important.
143 too short? I'm 5'8 / around 162 lbs, short legs, always ride 151 with waist width of 25.0 and like middle/soft park flex. Also like boards that spin well like the Capita Ultrafear reverse camber which I ride in 151. My Capita Scott Stevens 153 feels big and heavy for me. I want to order a Dancehaul in 143 which has a 24.7 waist witdh. Would it be too short or is it totally fine and actually the perfect fit?
Too short and this shouldn't be compared to an Ultrafear as they are super different. The 147 would be a better fit but not really sure if you should go with a Dancehaul based on what you wrote. Hey I can’t decide between this or stratos I love trying to find powder and riding through trees mostly but need an all mountain over all I’m 6”2 230 size 11.5 boot just heard the stratos was super stiff this year
I would pass on the Stratos just because it doesn't do that well for guys your weight. I would only do Stratos if you like really light poppy boards and ride in good conditions. I ordered a 157 5’10 and 220 I’m stockier then most my height cuz of body building so i felt like it would be decent my k2 joydriver is a 158 and that feels right so i thought it would be a decent size
Hi there, im thinking of getting a dancehaul for buttery, freestyle, side jump, all mountain riding but im torn between sizes. I’m 5’10 140lbs and wear size 9.5. Would 147 or 152 be better? I currently ride a 152 gnu headspace. Thanks for helping
Very very different ride from the Nexus. You ride the Nexus more in a normal size and it is full camber. The Dancehaul you ride shorter/wider and it has some early rise before the nose. Is the Nexus what you ride now? If so what size?
@@thegoodridesnow No, I am just considering to purchase my first board. Looking for a forgiving all mountain free ride board as I am not going to park.
Yeah the Dancehaul could work but it isn't super forgiving. More than the Nexus but the Nexus is not forgiving. You might want to hit me up here if you want to do this properly. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/
Hard to say until we ride it. If they remove the dampening and stiffen it up like many Pro models in Salomon's line it will be great in good conditions but super cranky the minute the snow gets a little uneven. If that is the case, We'd recommend the regular Dancehaul over the Dancehaul Pro 9 times out of 10. But again, won't know till we ride it.
Have you ridden the pro yet? I’m just about to purchase one. Ive a standard DH which is fair damaged, I was hoping the pro would be better in rough conditions being stiffer. As I found the standard I was soft n abit Bucky at times. Any info would be great Thanks
Both do similar things but both do it in a very different way. The Ravine you ride a little longer and the Dancehaul you ride shorter. Both aren't that stiff or damp but I would say the Dancehaul is a little stiffer/damper overall. Dancehaul is a little more turny and the Ravine is a little more balanced. It all comes down to what fits your specs and riding personality better.
152 for sure. I would not do the 147. It's going to feel too small for your specs. Especially your size 11's. What size, make & model board do you normally ride?
@@thegoodridesnow thank you so much! I normale ride an Bataleon Whatever (2022) 154cm or my Capita Scott Stevens pro 155cm. So i would pull the trigger on the 152 Dancehaul? 🙂
@@dennisdohl1338 I would go 152. I would say you are in-between 152 and 157 but based on what you are riding now the 152 seems like it will be a better fit.
Hi Goodride. I've been watching your videos. I'm heading to Japan this winter for a WHV - 3.5 month season in Hakuba. I'm choosing between the Orca or Dancehaul, riding groomers, side hits, tree runs, can ride switch. Basically just want to have fun and venture into back country. Which do you think is best out of the 2. 5ft 10", 175lbs size US 9. Orca 153? Dancehaul 150? Cheers
If I was going to Japan that long (a bit jealous btw) I would take neither. I would want something with more float to handle all that Japan can offer like a Gentemstick Barracuda or a Spring Break Powder Pill or Weston Japow or Korua Dart and many others. Go to the site and click "Excellent" in the Powder filter thegoodride.com/snowboard-reviews/?mens=1 . They float better than the boards above. If you want something more versatile to keep riding when you come back either could work. It really comes down to what calls to you more as both are a great call. Dancehaul is more stable and has a faster base. Orca has a slower base but more setback on board and a little better float.
@@thegoodridesnow Thanks! Got a question Re bindings? Turns out I'm a 9.5 UK (10) US. So I'm unsure what bindings to get? Cartels Re Flex? (Medium should fit?) Union Stratas (Would have to get Large though) Any help would be appreciated!

Hey man I'm pretty set on getting the 2023 model of this board. I don't think much has changed but I like the colors better. I'm 5'6 & 175 lbs size 10 boot. Should I get the 147 or the 152? I want a do it all board so I'm leaning towards the 152 more than the 147.
Yep. No real changes. Man the 147 is better for your height and will work with your boots but the 152 is better for your weight and boots. What make, model and size board do you ride now?
@The Good Ride yeah I know I'm kinda in an odd spot. I ride a 2021 Sims the day board in a 151. Its my first board & I got it because it was on sale ahaha. It's been a great learning board but I'm not really a fan of the hybrid camber.
Yeah tough call but I would go 152 as it better fits your boots. The 147 might be too narrow for 10.5's. You might want to hit me up here so I can give you real advice. thegoodride.com/snowboard-binding-and-boot-advice/
Hard to say without knowing anything about your specs, riding style, ability level, where you ride, etc. Warca carves harder, rides more centered like a short tapered mountain freestyle ride. Dancehaul more setback, directional, better directional float in powder and not too far behind the warca for turning
Very different boards. The Y feels much more directional/set back. It is more of a board specific to tight radius turning and riding pow. The Dancehaul is more a daily driver that can do a little bit of everything. Both are great rides. It just comes down to what you are more into.
Backslash has more drive and feels more aggressive/directional/carvy. The Dancehaul is more playful and feels more centered/easy to ride switch/butter around.
I'm 5'9 165lbs Rossignol Crank - size 9 Intermediate/Advanced all mtn rider. Groomers, off piste and pow seeker Would the Damcehaul 147 work for me? Thank you in advance!
@@thegoodridesnowI’m 5’7 138lbs, but still wearing size 9 For a reference, my first board is 148 huckknife, it feels a little narrow when I carving. I wish the dancehaul become a everyday board for me, mostly on hard/icy goomers as well going for some park runs, does 152 sounds too wide for me? Thanks for the advice 🙏❤️
Usually like to know your height, board you ride now, year, size and how you like it. If you like big boards and are a taller guy go 157. If you want more control and an easier flex go 154.
Should I get the 157. I'm 5'9" 200lbs 10.5 boot. Ride aggressive, love trees, and riding the whole mtn like a skate park. My home mtn is Big Sky Resort in Montana. Thanks
You are kind of in-between sizes. The 152 will feel a bit small and soft for your 200lbs but I think that is the better choice for treating the mtn like a skate park. If you wanted to haul ass, carve super hard and use this for deeper pow I'd say go 157. Wish they had something in between like a 154 or 155.
@@thegoodridesnow do you think I'll have a hard time turnning/carving the 157 with size large union force binding and a 10.5 boot? I just got a sweet deal on a 157 dancehaul and couldn't pass it up. My daily drivers are the 156 harpoon and 157 proto ultra.
It will be wider/harder to turn and have more camber consequence than both boards you ride now. Based on how you mentioned you ride, your boot size and binding it should work. You can take out the Harpoon when you are feeling more mellow.
I have Ride SuperPig and just got this one, still couple months until I test it, can you compare those two? Alse my SuperPig is 158 and DH is 157 and looking at the spects its a less board then SP im affraid I`ll be too big for it 240lbs?
What is your boot size (very important) and your height? I'll try to get the Superpig in the mix on another review or comparison. It is wider than all these and feels pretty aggressive for how mellow the camber is. It feels the most centered on board out of all of these and feels more like a tapered aggressive all mountain board than these do.
@@thegoodridesnow im size 10 6.0 SuperPig is the board that I will have in my quiver all the time. For my riding style its perfect, but I want to do some buttering and 180s and its just too aggressive for that. I just sold my 2020 model and will look to get the latest one. In meanwhile I got this DH so just wondering what to expect.
The 158 Super Pig is too big. You want the 154. Your weight is fine for the 158 but it is so wide it will be hard to turn with size 10 boots. I'm a size 9 US, 185-190lbs and 5'10". I tried the 154 and the 151 Superpig. The 154 was too hard to turn with size 9 boots for me and it wasn't fun to ride except for in perfect conditions. The 151 was much better for my specs. The DH is a fun ride. There is an old review up on thegoodride.com if you want to check that out.
I ride actually a 157 from rossignol, was my uncle's board, but i want a more playful board. Also I want to be capable to use it as a board for every kind of terrain, there is also a new sice, 154, but I think it will be too much for my stance.@@thegoodridesnow
Hi, question. Not sure on which size to get 147 or the 152. Im a size 10 boot and weigh around 170. Will the 152 feel sluggish? I like the idea of having a wider platform. Im been riding for a few years now and coming from a 152 huckknife.
I would normally say 152 but if you are riding a 152 Hucknife then maybe 147 would be better. The 152 did not feel sluggish or too big for me with size 9 boots, 185lbs at 5'10" though. What is your height and where do you plan to ride this?
@@thegoodridesnow I'm 5'6 , i plan to use this board to do a little bit of everything. Im from southern California we dont get deep snow. I want the extra width for doing deep carves. Will the 147 be enough?
It will be close at the 147 toe/heel drag wise depending on your boots footprint. Your height is best for a 147, your boot size a 152 and your weight is better with the 152. If you aren't laying out super hard carves and want something super easy to turn/throw around go 147.
Hi guys! I have the same question. So my boot size is 9, I’m 165 for 5’ 10.5”. I’ll use it for everything, from little jump to groomers and laps through trees. 147 or 152?
Height? Seems the 152 Huck knife is too small for ur weight and boot size. If you like it small maybe yhe 147 but the 152 is better matched for your boots and weight.
Man, back in the day (1988-2000) all there was was cambered boards. You'd go to a shop, pick an appropriate length & give it a flex and if you dug the graphics you'd take it and that's what you rode all year in any conditions. Now everything is over thinking & over analyzing - it reminds me of the guitar industry. 90% of snowboarders wouldn't know their own board if they did a blind test ride amongst 5-7 other boards. It also reminds me when they do those wine tastings where they have 6 different glasses of wine on a table & invite people to take a swig of each one & each person gives their detailed analysis and then picks their favorite. Then the guy says "What if I told you these all came out of the same bottle?" These reviews are an awesome resource & I love the channel but the industry & their marketing has made everything convoluted. They act like if they removed one atom of the wood core or change the the amount of camber by .5mm that it's going to make some huge difference.
Sorry this was held for review and I didn't see it. I would say 152 will be a better fit for you. I'd only go 147 if you are used to really small boards now. What make, model, year and size board do you ride now?
@@thegoodridesnow I ride a 154 flagship. And a 151 high society never summer twin. I also have a 157 dancehaul and am selling it because it felt wayyyyyy too big
Party platter will be damper. Dancehaul will be softer and poppier. For party platter 2023 they have a 152 and 157 sizes and I would say the 152 is probably the better call. It will handle your weight really well. For the dancehaul, 157 will better fit your weight but the 152 will better fit your boots and your height. It might not be able to handle your 230lb weight though because its pretty soft. Based on your take on the 158 skeleton key it might be worth downsizing on both.
I'm interested in getting this board. I loved my Salomon Assassin 158W (263 mm waist width) so I'm sure I'll love this one. I am about 183 lbs which would make the 152 my board but I have a size 13 boot which a 157 would fit better. I have a 157 Tranny Finder which I find a bit too much board but that's mainly due to the flex being a bit too much for what I like. Which one would you go for?
Sorry I didn't see this earlier. I love the 152 but I'm a size 9, 185lbs and 5'10". What is your height and how is it too much board for you? The more detail the better.
@@thegoodridesnow I am about 6'1''. I feel like it's a chore to move around sometimes. Edge changes are slow and the board is not as nimble as I'd like. I know the size has something to do with it but I also feel the torsional rigidity and overall flex have a bigger impact than the size. My Assassin had the same effective edge but felt way more nimble with a similar sidecut. Are you perhaps reviewing the Yes Warca anytime soon? That's a board I am really interested in and I would love to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks for getting back at me!
Dude, I am literally in the same exact situation. 6 ft 4.5, 188 pounds (no gear), size 12 boot. I currently ride a 2015 158 assassin wide. I feel like the 152 would not be enough board, and the 157 may be too much, it is Afterall my normal board length pretty much on a volume shifted? Seems like compared to other volume shifted boards Salomon is more conservative with 3-6 down compared to ride's 6-10 cm down. Curious in others input as well. cheers. @thegoodridesnow
@@davekal Are you me? I rode a 158W Assassin last season! I think both sizes would work for you. Want something more playful? Go 152. Go 157 if you want more of a charger.
What kind of bindings would you pair with the Dance haul? Im currently using Union Stratas.
Thats a great pairing. I would try those first before looking for another pair.
Really hard to say based on the info given. What is your ability level, Boot Size, Weight, Height? What make, model, size do you ride now?
@@thegoodridesnow Thanks for the answer, and considering that you pointed out you would not take either to japan what would you take?

If you like a 152 Headspace you might like the 147 Dancehaul better.
I am 168cm and 56kg, us7 , should I go for 143 or 147?
How does it compare with season nexus?
Very very different ride from the Nexus. You ride the Nexus more in a normal size and it is full camber. The Dancehaul you ride shorter/wider and it has some early rise before the nose. Is the Nexus what you ride now? If so what size?
@@thegoodridesnow No, I am just considering to purchase my first board. Looking for a forgiving all mountain free ride board as I am not going to park.

Any thoughts on the Dancehaul Pro?
Any info would be great

Hi,
How would you compare this board to the Telos backslash?
Also what size would you recommend for me 5,4” 145lbs 7.5 boots.
More mellow and a little less camber/pop/dampness. Less taper n a little less setback on board. You might like the 147 Dancehaul or 143 Backslash.
How would you compare this to the Rome Ravine for all mountain ?
Both do similar things but both do it in a very different way. The Ravine you ride a little longer and the Dancehaul you ride shorter. Both aren't that stiff or damp but I would say the Dancehaul is a little stiffer/damper overall. Dancehaul is a little more turny and the Ravine is a little more balanced. It all comes down to what fits your specs and riding personality better.
Do you think the 147 or 152 would be better for me? Size 11 Adidas Accera ADV / 172 lbs / 5‘11“. Thank you so much!

@@thegoodridesnow kind of what I was thinking. I sent you a gear advice message on the link you gave, thanks!
Dancehaul or Warca for all mountain ripper?
Hard to say without knowing anything about your specs, riding style, ability level, where you ride, etc. Warca carves harder, rides more centered like a short tapered mountain freestyle ride. Dancehaul more setback, directional, better directional float in powder and not too far behind the warca for turning
Is there anything the warpig does better?
Yes. It is more damp in uneven snow and it's wider width per size gives this a much bigger feel on snow for it's size.
How would you compare it to the Yes the Y?
Very different boards. The Y feels much more directional/set back. It is more of a board specific to tight radius turning and riding pow. The Dancehaul is more a daily driver that can do a little bit of everything. Both are great rides. It just comes down to what you are more into.
How does this compare to the Telos Backslash in terms of optimal terrain?
Backslash has more drive and feels more aggressive/directional/carvy. The Dancehaul is more playful and feels more centered/easy to ride switch/butter around.
@@thegoodridesnow would you say one floats better than the other in deep pow?
Pretty similar float.

195 lbs, size 12 boots, is the new 154 good for me? Or I need to go with 157?

It does well enough but if you want something that does better check the Gnu Gremlin and Yes Hybrid.

What is your boot size (very important) and your height? I'll try to get the Superpig in the mix on another review or comparison. It will be close at the 147 toe/heel drag wise depending on your boots footprint. Your height is best for a 147, your boot size a 152 and your weight is better with the 152. If you aren't laying out super hard carves and want something super easy to turn/throw around go 147.

Then the guy says "What if I told you these all came out of the same bottle?"
These reviews are an awesome resource & I love the channel but the industry & their marketing has made everything convoluted. They act like if they removed one atom of the wood core or change the the amount of camber by .5mm that it's going to make some huge difference.
I’m 5’9 175 size 8 boots. 147 or 152?

This or party platter
Thinking 157 dancehaul based on this review. How would you size a party platter 5'10 230. Sz10. 54 or 57?

@@thegoodridesnow I am about 6'1''. I feel like it's a chore to move around sometimes. Edge changes are slow and the board is not as nimble as I'd like.
