Thanks for the review. I bought this board and Gremlin rocks!! It's solid EVERYWHERE on the mountain. Thanks again!!
Major thanks from a 54 yr old for all your reviews and info! Been researching for weeks after having been out of boarding for 14 yrs. Bought the Gremlin 2022 based partly on this glowing review but also using info about your other reviews indicating what boards wouldn't be preferable for me. Would've bought with links but like to support local. Joined your Patreon to show some love. Appreciate your knowledge and humor. >>boring backstory>> Started on a Burton Backhill then Performer before boarding was allowed on resorts in SoCal mtns (Bear, Summit, etc). 10-ish yrs later got a Burton Custom w/SI system and loved it. Donated it (and some Salomon and Kemper equip) around 2008 after not going at all for years due to kids and stuff. Now I have more time so diving in full bore!
Welcome back.
Another 54 year old just got back into boarding after many and bought the gremlin. I feel like a kid again!
I'm not into many new boards these days but that thing just caught my attention! I am the old school guy who had always ridden something like that camber profile. I feel that would be a total blast. Looks like it would carve through anything.
Thanks for the review Avran. Picked up the Gremlin last week per your suggestions. Your the guy I come to for what boards to buy.
P.S. your Lumberjack has served me well these past few years. Fucking awesome board.
Just got one of these, loving it so far, impressed that it performs well on the firm and icy snow we get in the Pacific Northwest but also floats really nicely on the occasional powder day, it steamrolls through tracked-out areas better than any other board I’ve had
Just picked this board up and it’s a blast. Thanks
Just got back from my first ride on the gremilin on a wet pow day!
Man this board is a beast! I was worried i downsized too much with the 152 (I'm 172cm x 80kg), but appart from really deep powder i had no issues at all!
The board is super nimble and bizarrely stable for the size! I was going faster than I ever been on a run that I did in a 159 board before!
Super recommended
Sold! Thanks for the review, I've really been looking for a good comprehensive review of this board.
Thanks so much for this review, I've been drooling over this board. I've got size 12 boots but am pretty light at 165. Will the 155 fit me or can I go 158 without it being too much of a beast?
55
Your review is what basically steered me into mega researching this board. Thanks for your honest opinions and keep up the great work. Just dropped the hammer on the 158. Headed to Big Sky in March. Can't wait to get on it and rip.
How'd you like the Gremlin so far?
@@dustinoman To be honest... When I was in Big Sky two weeks ago with the Gremlin and a 159w 20/21 Dynamo... I just liked the way the Dynamo handled better. I'm in the process of looking to trade the Gremlin 158 for something Mervin C2 157w and bigger.
Maybe the 155 would have been better.
@@aaronfavereaux4822 Appreciate the update man. I was told it'll have a new learning curve to it for sure, but I grabbed one because I'm curious. Maining my 164W T Rice Pro which is C2, so I'm curious how the C3 will feel. I'm hoping the 158 works for me because the width is almost the same, but it'll be 6cm shorter than what I'm used to.
I had a feeling I should have nabbed a Dynamo as well haha.
Usually not into the looks of the GNU boards but this thing looks dope.
It is dope. I love riding this fucking board.
@@howdyitsdavid what size do you ride and would you ride it in the Midwest or is it a more big mountain board?
@@bbolanda18 I've got the 158. I would ride it pretty much anywhere as a volume shifted party board, on groomers, sidehits, light pow/freshies, for true big mountain charging, probably not my first choice but I am also 6'3" 265lbs.
Hey Man, thoughts on the Gremlin in comparison to the Nidecker Mellow? I have a Mellow in 155, and I really like it but it feels a little squirrelly on me at higher speeds and in cruddier snow. I'm 6'3" with extra long legs and probably 190 lbs all geared up. Thanks for any insight.
It's stiffer and damper overall. The camber profile coupled with the sidecut tech will cause it to grip differently on edge.
can i push the bindings forward for a more centered feel? kinda like wide stances too. size up?
Sup Angry! What do you think of switching from a Mind Expander as a pow board to a Gremlin for more versatility + power? Is there too much overlap or will it be a good change? I'm 5'8 150lbs
Flex is super soft on the ME compared to the Gremlin.
3 days in on my Gremlin - great board for a mountain goat like me that likes traversing different terrain throughout the day. I don't feel like I need to build out a quiver thanks to its versatility, just gonna keep a rock/park board around
Hey there, what is your optimal binding position on this board?
I have a twinpig what else should I get for more powder really like the idea of gremlin but want something stiffer that is still fun on side hits and jumps
I’d say go with a more traditionally shaped freerideish board
Thanks for posting now I gotta get one. I am 5''9" 165 size 9 boot. Looking at getting a 148. Is that too small or will be ok? Rode a 147 Orca before and it was ok
Should be fine.
that thing looks sick. I'd like to get a party board one day
Thanks for the always precise and honest reviews from an old boarder (started in 1988). After keeping the same board for 10 years due to limited time on slopes (2-6 days annually the past years), its time for a change. Thinking of going for a volume shifted board. ΑΤΜ seems i have the option of Superpig or Gremlin (Based in Greece). Do you know if there Is there any change between the Gremlin of 2021 and the Gremlin of 2024 ? Thanks
Graphics.
Which did you go for in the end and how do you find it?
Big fan of your reviews. Looking for a pow/tree board that can do tight turns and still rip some carve.
Looking at the gremlin, skeleton key, and Jones frontier as solid all rounders with a free ride focus - which do you think is best?
Skill wise I can hold my own on a double black but my shit gear (think ancient worn out never waxed boards and bindings that break after a hard day) has always let me down.
Skeleton Key over Gremlin.
@@AngrySnowboarder bindings you'd go for on the SK?
@angrysnowboarder I know I'm late to the party, but my local shop is selling these at a significant discount... im 6'2 and 245lbs ( and on a diet. Lol) size 12 boots... kinda want the 155 to have a playful fun board, bit do you think thats pushing it? Should I stick with the 158? Thanks.
58
this channel rocks
Hey Avran! Great video! This board has similar specs to my Gnu Fun Guy. Would you say this Gremlin is the Fun Guy replacement since Gnu axed Muller?
Didn't realise Nico thought George Floyd's death was a hoax...jeeez what happened to him!
^ Concussions. Yeah basically Fun Guy replacement with a tweaked flex is what I'm hearing.
@@AngrySnowboarder what a shame, could really do with less nutters these days...
I just had to have the green one, got it in a 155 its a bit big for my 5'10 175lb and size 9 boots, but DAMN does it have stability. As opposed to my 21 dancehaul (which is just HAD to have in the gold sparkle) which i rife in a 143, this board feels like a 85 oldsmobile versus a 2009 nissan versa. The dancehaul is playful, bendy, floats in pow and cuts quick slashy carves, where the Gremlin hauls ass and takes a bit more hip and shoulder to swing around. At 27 years old after 16 years of riding hand-me-down gear i finally have 2 fully rigged up combos, each for their own distinct yet important purpose. The dancehaul is my lil spicy gal. The gremlin is my go-to for new terrain with potential ice or steeps. My wife just doesnt understand tho, i need to get the Nuzoid and the Cool Bean and then with 4 snowboards ill be fully stocked.
great channel...175size 9 burton photon what size you recommend? any binding suggestion ?
55. Go check the Top 5 Work Horse Binding List.
Could you recommend this board for someone who is 130lbs with a 7.5 boot size? I currently ride a 154 jones mountain and want to try something a little shorter and maybe a little easier between the trees. Thanks!
No. If you want something easier in the trees this is not it.
Would you take the GNU Gremlin or the Yest Optimistic? Both look like each other in shape and seem to have similar reviews. I am considering one of the two. Thanks for your reviews!
Depends on how damp of a ride you want. Gremlin is more damp than the Optimistic and also a bit stiffer.
Between this and the banked country for next seasons pow day board. Any thoughts? Will only ride in days when it’s fresh, plan to keep riding my headspace the majority of the time.
Honestly I wouldn't go with either, so many better choices.
Is the 158 big enough to get float for 235lbs? Trying to avoid the Orca. Looking at this and the backslash. Hoping to get float in west coast heavy powder.
Grab it.
Can you please tell me what size you’d recommend for a Gremlin? I’m 5’10”, 230 lbs. I normally ride a 161W (size 12 boots). And which binding to pair with it: Cartel X, Malavita, Contact Pro or Atlas? Thank you!
59 and probably a Cartel x.
@@AngrySnowboarder Thank you.
I’m in between this and the capita mercury. I usually ride 147 (i’m 162 tall) but was wondering if I should keep 147-148 or go up to 150. Could you help me decide? I’m an advanced rider and ride the swiss alps so never super deep powder but very variable snow conditions from top to bottom.
Two different boards for two different purposes.
This is a size board I need..I think you just changed my buying man
You should try his personal shopper service. There are lots of boards out there!
@@ivandrago5504 Agreed.
Lucky you didn't have the old green screen fake brick wall background in this review
Coming from a 159w lib ejack knife . 6’2 205-210 size 11.5. Deciding between 155 and 158 gremlin . Both sizes are the same width or bigger then my ejack so that’s not a problem. Which would you say
55
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks man. That’s what I was leaning towards just never ridden a shorter board
Gremlin Vs Banked Country? I'm considering 158 Orca vs 160W Banked as they have similar specs. I have the Orca 159 (non hp), I want something that rails harder and a little stiffer that gobbles up chunder.
Haven't been on the Banked Country yet but it looks like it's going to be softer than the Gremlin and that board with the C3 profile and how it's designed really pushes through chop easier.
How this compare to Salomon Dancehaul? Since I can’t get my hands on Gnu but I can on Salomon, I wonder are they similar?
It's going to be stiffer, more aggressive, and a damper ride.
Hi Avran 😃 which board is the better one for aggressive carving? Ride Superpig, Telos Backslash or Gnu Gremlin. Thx!
Superpig.
@@AngrySnowboarderThx 👍👍
What would be a similar or closest ride but in a narrower not volume shifted board in the lineup lib/gnu... dynamo, trs, essential service, banked country or something else thanks 🙏
Love the Gremlin and C3 so fun but find it a bit slow for quick turns in trees with a 8.5 boot so decided I would prefer a regular size board with similar characteristics.
I'm an intermediate rider looking to progress in trees pow groomers and jumps.
Dynamo is probably what you're looking for.
@@AngrySnowboarder Thanks 🙏
Hi, I just bought a 2022 Gnu gremlin. love the board but do you have any binding recommendations?
Bent Metal Transfer, Ride C-8, Rome DOD.
I have a 2020 indoor survival and union forces size 8 boot. I’m looking to add a aggressive directional board for boardercross and pow that’s not too expensive what would you recommend?
On Mt.hood
Probably something that fits in your budget then.
Finally found some of these including the early release green last question though I am pulling trigger but 152 or 155? 11.5 boot 5'9" 190-200
55.
@@AngrySnowboarder thank you and absolutely love the Intel and vids BTW where at in the PNW were you living grew up there live up in Montana now.
Hi! What board would you suggest for carving groomers with some visiting tight trees? Gnu Gremlin 158 or Gnu Fun Guy 154? US11, 235Lbs. Thanks!
Probably Gremlin.
@@AngrySnowboarder just bought and tested Gremlin on frozen icy polar resort. It is freakin’ amazing. It holds edge way better on ice than my Korua Cafe Racer (Gremlin is my first Mervin board), and I can really change radius of carved turn with proper loading it, moving from front to back foot. No problems with short, medium, big carves. Just was not ready to that amount of “snap”. The board literally sent me in the air couple of times, when up-unweighting and changing edges:) That feeling, when the board rides better than the rider:) I’ve been thinking that I need stiffer board, but…no. Perfect board for not perfect conditions.
Thanks for your help! And sorry for my English 😅
@@Maks4e Glad you enjoyed it sir. Your enthusiasm surpasses the language barrier.
Coming from a 2016 Burton process Flying V, should I go Gremlin or Super Pig for the next step of my snowboard career? Hitting Colorado mountains mostly. Love hitting tree runs, powder hits, groomers, i like to make tight turns when I want in steep mogul sections! I’m almost tempted to get another Flying V
Well both boards are probably going to own you because you're on the single worst camber profile Burton has ever made.
Angry Snowboarder probably will just get a Skeleton key
Please do that new Burton Family Tree Powder board, would love to see what you think
uh that's a whole line of boards not just one. You want a review of my 8 year old Burton cheetah? lol
Howdy, any difference in the 2022-2023 model aside from the fact it's bright orange now? Was thinking about getting a 52, I'm about 175lb and have a size 9.5 boot, does that sound right? Lastly, any bindings recs? Thanks for the help man, love the vids
None. 52 for sure. Bent Metal Transfer or Cor-pro, Ride C8, Union atlas.
Great review. How does it stack up to the superpig? Is it softer?
Stiffer, WAY STIFFER.
@@AngrySnowboarder good to know. Which is poppier?
What major difference (if any) is there between the superpig and the gremlin?
Are the construction differences noticeable between Mervin and RIDE?
Everything. But if you want to go with the biggest. Overall ride, Gremlin is more damp and stiffer. Sidecut is going to grip better on the Gremlin on Ice but it won't be as smooth of an engagement as the Superpig on a perfect groomer.
@@AngrySnowboarder amazing!
Thank you 🙏
Hi Angry,
Found a great deal on a used Gremlin 155 for $200. I weight 210lb about 5’6” and wearing a size 8 Thirtytwo TM2 boot. Also riding the Bent Metal Axtion bindings. I would consider myself an intermediate rider. I was wondering if the 155 Gremlin would be too big for me?
No you're fine.
Sup Avran, I own the 157 SPAM and looking to snag the Airblaster Gremmy collab when it releases. I'm 175lbs. You think the 152 Gremmy gonna be stiffer then the SPAM? I wanna make sure it's a bit snappier and stiffer for some chargin.
I know it's going to be stiffer.
Damn, looks like the airblaster collab is only gonna be in 2 sizes. 48 and 55. 48 gonna be a noodle for 175lbs?
No.
Between this and the dynamo for mostly east coast ice all mountain free riding with an annual trip out west to ride trees, pow and bowls?
Dynamo.
Hi there. Wondering if you think the gremlin or the banked country would be best for a banked slalom course? And which one of those would be best for powder?
Banked country for pow, gremlin for banked slalom
@@AngrySnowboarderthank you!
Is the gremlin and the party wave plus similar? Also I'm 5-10 160lbs size 10 boot. What size Gremlin you recommend
Gremlin is more aggressive. 48.
@@AngrySnowboarder thank you👍
Hey Angry? for your size do you still prefer this board in 155 over 152 ?
Yep.
Just got one. Mount snow last Saturday. It rips.
5'10" 200LB here thinking 155 may be the move? I have a 159 EJack but looking for something a little better in the tight Stowe trees on pow days that can still be fun to rip the whole mountain, never really hit the park at all. Or do you think there is a better board out there that fits what I am looking for? Ride about 30 days a year and progressing from int to advanced. Thanks
Going to a volume shifted board makes sense. But this might be too stiff torsionally for what you're looking for with those tight trees. It's a great board and makes sense, but I'd also suggest looking at the Telos Backslash in a 53.
Gremlin's C3 camber and magne-traction are pretty awesome for New England snow. Two thumbs up.
Hey Angry - 5’8 200 with size 9s. Looking at this in a 155 for carvy hard charger option. Too big (152 better)? Thanks in advance!
Nah for what you're looking to do with it that's a good size. Go rip some trenches with it.
Thank you for the reply and advice. Much appreciated! Have a great season!
This or Optimistic for resort, Hard carving, sidehits and a pinch of forest, but mostly hard carving?
Either.
I bought 2 one for me and one for a friend. Awesome fucking board.
I ride the Orca in 153cm which feels like perfect size for me. Looking to get something more aggressive and carve on groomers but not feel like a heavy boat. Is the gremlin in 155cm going to feel like a too much board?
Maybe.
Size 11boot , 160lbs, and 5’11” height.
Maybe 152 is better suited then?
Yeah.
You had good things to say for both of these but what would be the better daily on the east coast, this or the anti gravity? Short guy @ 5' 7" 140lbs
Really comes down to how stiff you want to go, personally I'd push you towards the Anti Gravity.
@@AngrySnowboarder appreciate it - looking to stay around mid flex. Coming off a ~4/10 board and want to go a little stiffer but not a plank.
Anti gravity.
Avran I was looking to buy a super pig, as you said in this video the gremlin is comparable. If you pick one for the whole season what one would you pick in your professional opinion? I know they are both dope. I just like the fact the gnu is made in 🇺🇸, but I love all the fancy tech and reputation the super pig has. Last question have you heard of the ride topsheetless boards chipping alot, Any truth to that that you know of? Thank you I you read this and answer any of questions. Also if anyone has any answers for me please drop a line. Cheers snowboarders of the internet.
Comes down to how aggressive you want to get with it. There's truth to it because I've seen the comments of people bitching.
@@AngrySnowboarder went with a 152 gremlin fucking love it thank you you. Rode it in crap snow and in pow its awesome 👌
@@aaronburela432 what's your stats, brother? Looking at the 152 also. 9.5 boot, 165 lbs. Good fit?
What do you think, would a 158 go well with my US9 boots, or ould I loose nimbleness? Thanks.
Do you need a 58?
@@AngrySnowboarder yes, definately. If i were to by a regular waisted board, that would be 161 at least. I guess this board is just not for me? :/
@@okosakaroklenni Board size based mostly on your weight than height . I got the 58 at 6'1 250lbs
Sizing question for those in the know. Advanced New England/Ice Coast rider, 5’10”, 205 lbs, 11.5 boot. Daily driver is a Gnu RCC3 158w. Typical riding is 75% charging hard on black/blue, 25% goofing around on blue/green side hits and rollers. Love Mervin tech for the type of conditions I typically see. Looking hard at getting a Gremlin to make a two-board quiver. From what I have read, the Gremlin will do well in powder conditions and spring slop and just general fun boosting off of stuff. Volume shifted with magnatraction looks like it would have no problems railing high speed turns on hardpack as well. I am torn on sizing: 152 or 155 cm? Boots should fit either, not sure how much high-speed stability/carving prowess I would be trading for agility/playfulness going to the smaller board. Hoping to pick the size that won’t make me want to head to the parking lot to swap out with the RCC3 in the afternoon when the good snow is busted because the Gremlin is too squirrely.
52 more playful or tight trees 55 more charging.
How does this compare with the Hyper Kyarve?
Stiffer and more aggressive.
Love the channel. I'm really interested in this board. I ride a 159W Mullair right now. It has a 260 waist width, and with my size 11.5 boots I get some heel drag when I'm traversing.
Would it be fair to say that this board floats a little more than the Mullair but maybe isn't quite as stable? I'm 5'10" 190lb and I'm thinking the 158 gremlin would a good replacement if I decide to move on from my Mullair. I understand that would be a really wide board then though. 155 seems really short to me.
Thanks in advance for any answers to this loaded question.
I found it more stable and it floats better.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks dude. I'll just have to consider sizing. I feel caught in between on this board.
I have a 156W smart pickle as well for my park/playful board. Having a 155 for pow seems like it's too short. The 158 with a 270 waist width might be too wide though and might feel like a boat. First world problems 😂
Trust me when I say get the 55.
@@AngrySnowboarder I'll go with that. I trust your opinion on boards. Again, love the channel dude. Thanks for the feedback.
Similar size to you...5’9 200 10.5 boot....I have the 155, love it, perfect size nice, aggressive board. Review is spot on
The enthusiasm of this review makes this board seem like something to put on the list
Thanks for the great review, once more! Heard the base of the Gremlin is said to be quite slow. What was your experience with it?
That people need to learn how to go faster and carry their speed in the flats.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks ;)
Avran: It's time for me to retire my old Yes Optimistic 157. Would the Gnu Gremlin 158 be a fun but somewhat similar board? Thanks for all the great content you provide!
It won’t be as reactive it’s going to be a little more damp and be a bit more back foot heavy with its drive.

Gremlin.

@@tacshooter99 hey man did you end up deciding on a size? If you choose the 155 id love to try grab the 152. Where is it located? Im from australia and arrive in denver on the 25th then will be in aspen from the 27th. Thanks
@@jamesdettmann1755 I think I'm going with the 152 and it actually looks like that 155 is gone now. I'll be happy to let you know if I see anything else pop up...
Anyone have trouble deciding between a 155 or a 152 and went with the 152 and are happy with the choice?
I was between 52 and 55. Was advised 52 more playful, 55 more stable for carving. Went for the 55 as I'm more cruise carvy and no regrets. It's a great alround board but a little sketchy at really high speed.
Sounds like u like the c3 s.
Are all c3's created mostly equal ?
It's a camber profile not a core profile.
I'm 6' and 210lbs with size 13. Would u recommend the 55 or 58 Avran? Also which would u recommend the gremlin or the lib dynamo for mainly groomers minimal powder riding in Eastern Ontario canada
Either board will work but I'd go with the 52 in the Gremlin.
@@AngrySnowboarder appreciate it bud. Love your video's. You're a staple for so many of us man. Keep up the great work and spray skiers
@@mikemackenzie3305 did you grab a 152 gremlin...
@@jamescederquist2507 ordered one today. Should have it Sunday. Can't wait
@@mikemackenzie3305 I ordered 155
This board looks dope with acid green Union Stratas.
Can we see ? Link to a pic ?
Just picked up a 148. I'm 175-lb and K2 Thraxis boots. I love side hits and deep carving. Binding recommendations?
Bought this because it was on sale and your review, thanks for the addictive content!
Bent Metal Cor-Pro, Ride A-9, Rome Cleaver.
Really want to try the Cor-Pro, but have a 7.5 boot. Think I'll be trying the Cleavers.
Gah came across this just as I was about to pull the trigger on the k2 passport. How does this compare to the passport?
Go buy the passport and stop over thinking it.
@@AngrySnowboarder haha ok thanks. And I'm guessing I should go for the 160 at 75kg size 11 US boots?
Sure
@@AngrySnowboarder Sorry last question - I'm getting AT Lien bindings for about $30 more than the Formulas you've recommended with the passport on end of season sales. Worth the extra or stick with the formula?
Why do you think we are seeing more pros in competitions like Blake Paul and T Rice opting for C2X which is more of a rocker profile than camber?
Because the marketing department is saying "you need to push this".
Went with the gremlin hype.
Binding recommendations for this board? Thx!
Bent Metal Cor-Pro, Ride C9, Union Atlas
@@AngrySnowboarderThx Avran! 👍
How would you compare this to the Transition Finder?
Transition finder is softer flex over all especially torsionally. The heavier construction on the Gremlin makes it more damp and less lively.
I’m hoping you could steer me between the 55 or 58. I’m 220lbs size 10.5/11 boots. Thanks again
55 if you want it just a little more playful 58 if you want to full on death charge through chunder fields while listening to Cry of the Valkyries.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks now to decide this or the warpig?
Binding recommendations?
Rome Cleaver, Bent Metal Solution or Cor-pro, Ride A-9
Torn between the 155 and 158, 220lbs 11.5 boot, thoughts?
You're kind of on the cusp for going either way. 55 for more playful but still powerful, 58 for full on charging.
@@AngrySnowboarder Have plenty of charging board so 155 it is. Thank for the assistance.
I’m same weight and boot size , I also just ordered a 155 . Have two other boards that are bigger so wanted a more playful board. How did you like the 55?
@@skeesh1285 im size 12 and about 220 and planning on the 158 just for the waist width alone. But also have a slush slasher when i just want to relax and surf otherwise id prob go for the 155 if it had a hair more width for those euro carves.
GNU's version of the Orca?
Sure.
Magnetraction aside, how does this board compare to a Rome National?
More directional, stiffer, more of a carving cruiser less all mountain.
@@AngrySnowboarder Awesome, thanks!
@@AngrySnowboarder One more question, 155 or 158? I’m maybe 200lbs wet with no gear on, and I wear a size 12.5 boot. I’m afraid the 158 might be more stiff than I’d like, but I really want to get it laid over to euro carve angles if possible.
@@Gdownification Get the 55.
